In summary, if we want to have common sense, to be fair to alleged crime victims, and to be somewhat consistent based on precedent, the names of crime victims and unindicted conspirators should be redacted, excepting truly extraordinary circumstances. Lou Ferrigno

Nightscream, While I understand that it's an article about Ferrigno, I don't see how shortening the entry to a very short sentence is making it better. The way it is now, makes it sound like he is again doing the voice in the The Avengers. Also, I think it's a good idea to mention that he is only the voice and not the physical characteristics. Superman Curse

Hi, Nightscream. You posted a question on my talk page regarding the entry I made to the Superman Curse article.

The book Superman on Broadway by Bob Holiday and Chuck Harter was self published by Mr. Holiday in 2003. The reason that you can't find it on amazon.com is because it is only available through limited web sites like the Superman Superstore or from Mr. Holiday himself.

Superman on Brodaway does not mention the purported "Superman Curse," but as a personal friend of Bob Holiday's, I can assure that he has not been cursed by playing Superman. On the contrary, on page 98 of his book, he writes, "I was very proud to 'take care' of Superman in the 1960's...." Further, on his personal web site, he says "Having played Superman was a special and lasting honor for me."

Hello again, Nightscream. I appreciate your explanation on my talk page about the reason you feel it appropriate to remove Bob Holiday from the Superman Curse article.
I now understand that having personal knowledge constitutes original research, and so it was inappropriate for me to mention it here. My apologies. Your response also makes it much more clear why you were asking me for information about the book Superman on Broadway. With this additional information, may I please make a case at this time for why Bob Holiday should be included in the Superman Curse article?
First, Bob Holiday is an important part of the Superman legacy as the one and only actor to have played Superman on Broadway. He actually played Superman more times than any other actor. Whether or not he was cursed by playing the role is a critical part of the discussion. To leave him out of the article is to leave out an important part of the evidence.
Second, his autobiography, Superman on Broadway, is devoted to what an honor it was to have played Superman and how much the role benefitted his life. Since there was not a Superman Curse article at the time the book was written, nor was "Superman Curse" a widely disseminated phrase (McKernan's article not appearing until the next year), it would be arguably impossible for Mr. Holiday to have mentioned a "Superman Curse" in his book. The very fact that no hint of a curse was mentioned is proof that he did not experiecne one. In fact, in the introduction to Superman On Broadway, co-author Chuck Harter says this (page 5), "Recently, I found myself in contact with none other than Bob Holiday! He is a man who is happy, healthy and very content with his creative career as the owner of his own homebuilding business. He is quick with a humorous phrase and still enjoys singing a good song. ... Bob has always been and still is a genuine Superman fan. I feel this contributed to his excellence in the role." What more could be said refuting that Bob was untouched by the possible Superman Curse?
Third, there is no discussion anywhere online nor in print that even whispers that Bob Holiday was cursed by playing Superman. Thus the lack of evidence is sufficient reason to include him under the sub-heading "Superman actors not generally believed to have become victims of the curse." The very rules of logic force his inclusion precisely because he is "not generally believed to have become [a victim] of the curse."
Recently, Mr. Holiday was interviewed by author Mark Edlitz (http://www.sliceofscifi.com/2011/09/24/the-singing-superman-bob-holiday-a-slice-of-scifi-interview/). Mr. Edlitz asked specifically what the worst part of being associated with Superman is. Mr. Holiday -- after referencing taking a six-foot fall when his harness broke on Broadway -- said, "Other than that, there’s no downside to having played Superman, no down side at all." I believe this may be precisely the reference you are looking for. If there's "no downside," then there's "no curse."
Finally, you should know that a long-time fan of Mr. Holiday's contacted me this week to ask why Bob was not included in the article. His absence was glaring to this individual.

Wikipedia blackout

I just got a press release from the Wikipedia Foundation saying English-language Wikipedia is staging a 24-hour blackout on Wednesday to protest (as well it should) the SOPA legislation before Congress. User:125.7.71.6, whom you blocked on 3 January, is requesting unblocked. I'm inclined to agree with the request. To me, it looks like User:Jojalozzo gave the IP address a level 1 warning for a biased edit (which was a legitimate warning) on Ecosystem. Then, 50 minutes later, with no intervening edits by the IP, you blocked for a month. Yes, this IP address has been blocked before, but not for over a year, and they appears to be for unrelated issues--that is, it's not the same person coming back and vandalizing all of the time. It's also not a public/school IP, so it's not like we should suspect it will regularly be used for bad edits. Do you mind if I unblock this user? Qwyrxian (talk) 05:43, 20 January 2012 (UTC)

Brian P. Stack and District 33

In regards to your recent edit, I guess that I look at the inclusion of information about a legislator's co-representatives as being *about* the legislator himself. To me, the fact that Stack serves in the legislature with Sean Connors and Ruben Ramos is important information about Stack, rather than about District 33. As a standard throughout WikiProject:New Jersey we have added legislative district details for all 120 legislators, though I will acknowledge that there are a few articles to be written for legislators who first took office in 2012, as for Sean Connors. I agree that there should be an overall policy, but the policy that exists now is that they are added to all such articles, just as the New Jersey Senate template is added to articles for every State Senator, even though the article is not *about* the New Jersey Senate. I hope that you will comply with this standard in the future and avoid removing sourced material that is standard to all such articles. If you have an argument to make, the best place to do so is at WT:NJ, where broad consensus might be reached that this information should be removed from all articles, as you suggest. Without that change in consensus, the status quo ante in which they are included should prevail at the article for Brian P. Stack. Alansohn (talk) 16:25, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Chaplin

THanks for massively shortening the bloated plot of The Great Dictator. A lot of the historical background was mildly interesting but unsourced and inessential (though I'm pretty sure most of it was true.)

Unfortunately what is now missing is Chaplin's being haunted by similarities between his background and Hitler's and their mutual love of Richard Wagner which is salient to the use of Wagner's music in the soundtrack. This seems to me a high priority to put back (properly sourced) and shouldn't take up more than about 5 sentences.--WickerGuy (talk) 16:43, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

No worries. It is very easy to find sourcing for that. Just a tad may have been in sources in the article. Nightscream: Are you the current editor who made some edits to the page and also posted 3 "banners" saying we needed citations for every section? We seem to keep getting new editors over the years who make different requests and I have a hard time catching up with all of them. Or even understanding why some of them are needed. The edits are not always consistent and seem to be subjective. (I am the former alumni president, btw, and was the person who originally upgraded the page back in June 2006. I am still involved with our Alumni Association and no one else from our organization has offered to take over the task of monitoring and editing the page. So it's still me. I'm now 69 years old, and while not a teckie, I'm pretty good at figuring most things out. But still need help so bear with me.)

For example, I've discovered over the years that many of our alumni think they are to be considered "notable" when they're not, and decide to add themselves onto the list. We posted an official statement that the Alumni Association chooses the names of the graduates to be listed as notable, to discourage others from adding themselves, yet they still do it and, regretfully, I often have to remove them. The statement I posted kept getting edited (changing) over the years every time another wiki editor had a different opinion on how it should be phrased. The last version was This is a list selected by the school's Alumni Association. But where did it go?

Also, who changed Notable Faculty to Faculty? Most of the teachers listed were extraordinary in their professional fields of work, in addition to being teachers. Most of them are deceased or retired! So how can they be list as Faculty (which means current)??? It was someone else's idea to add in our famous teachers years ago, which adds to the school's wonderful history, and I agreed with it and added to it. However, I do notice when someone other than me adds someone in, because they don't follow the style (example: "Irv Docktor, a fine artist and book illustrator" -- the "a" doesn't belong there).

We already have some citations next to some of our notable alumni names. Why do we need more? Many of them link to their own wikipedia page, which should be proof enough that they are notable. Besides, I don't seem many citations on La Guardia High School's page (our rival school), or a banner requesting them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Guardia_High_School. It's not fair to us to require more of us than is required of La Guardia.

Can you do me a favor and remove Cheryl Green (1981)? She added herself to the list -- and look how long a credit line she wrote herself! Just a couple of descriptive terms is all that should there. And, while she is a good designer, so are others. She needs to be more known or unique in her field. If we added on every graduate the list would be thousands long. It's supposed to be of notable alumni, not every alumnus that ever graduated or attended the school. (I'd rather you remove Cheryl than my doing it because my name will wind up as the person who removed her and I know her personally. I'm correct that she doesn't belong on the list -- yet -- but don't want to cause bad feelings. I already removed another alumna in the past -- twice! This is why the statement about the Alumni Association selecting those on the list needs to go back up.

(talk page stalker) I also watch that page, and the majority of Nightscream's changes are well within policy. I reverted one of the tags, because we don't actually have to have a citation for each name, so long as the info is cited on the page of the person. However, I wanted to make one comment on what you said above. You said, "We posted an official statement that the Alumni Association chooses the names of the graduates to be listed as notable" and that you left a note to that effect. Sorry, but that is not allowed. What goes into Wikipedia articles is not controlled by the subjects themselves (or, in your case organizations associated with the subjects). What should or should not be in articles is decided by consensus, as governed by our policies and guidelines. In a case like this, anyone could be on that list if they have reliable sources that verify that 1) they went to this school and 2) they are important. Usually that tends to limit such lists to people that are notable enough for their own Wikipedia article, but a solid reference would be sufficient. If people disagree about what should be on the list, then we can discuss it on the article's talk page. So, that statement from the Alumni Association cannot be on the page, as it would directly violate Wikipedia's policies. Also, let me clarify another point: just having their own WP article isn't technically enough. That article must have a solid, reliable source verifying that the person attended this school. If the page just says, "Went to high school at..." w/o a reference, then that's not sufficient to be on this list (and should probably be removed from the person's article as well).

Articles are independent of one another, and each one that contains a given claim must have the citation. Part II Could we please have these conversations on my talk page? I can't keep going back and forth to respond to comments left on 2 different places. The line about the Alumni Association selecting the names of those who are notable was to deter our alumni at large from deciding to add themselves on. This line, in several variations -- due to the fact that several wiki editors rewrote it over the course of time, and according to their own take on how it should be worded -- has been up on the page since circa June 2006. How is it all of a sudden against wikipedia policies? One person says it's okay to have it if there is a published list of same; another says it's against wiki policies. Which is it? For several years NOT ONE wiki editor even suggested adding a citation to it. Thus, if there was a rule to be followed I would have followed it. Instead I find the rules always changing. I am going back to my talk page to ask questions about what was posted there, rather than having to recopy everything here to refer to it. I am a volunteer with now limited time, and have had a very stressful few years (long-term unemployment, cancer surgery, and now finally a busy full-time job while I have to empty out my apartment due to damages from a major leak from the apartment above last week). This whole thing takes up more time than I have and I need to clean up the mess in my apartment. I didn't plan or expect to spend hours here this evening.

I also want you to know I contributed $25 to the Wikimedia Foundation on 1/12/12. Meaning I put my money where my mouth is. Additionally, I'd like to add that I attended the School of Visual Arts (at night). One of my instructors was Milton Glaser, who later sponsored me to become a member of the Type Directors Club. Hi Nightscream. Just a courtesy notification/explanation of a minor edit I made to your episode summary noted above. I removed the year 1870 as the manufacture year of the Volcanic Repeating Arms pistol based on the fact that Volcanic went out of business by 1866, or rather mutated into Henry/Winchester. Having just watched the episode and seen the pistol I suspect it was actually one of their 1856/1857 models. It's not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but I noticed it in passing and thought I'd correct it and have no year unless you have a good source otherwise for it really being 1870. (Reply to Nightscreams post on my talk page) -- I just watched that particular episode about 2hrs ago and they absolutely called the gun the Volcanic and show mainstay Rick Harrison then went on to explain about the company being founded by the same gentlemen who founded Smith & Wesson firearms. It was also accompanied by one of those "pop up" boxes that Pawn Stars uses to further explain the history of the article being pawned. It was definitely a Volcanic, and indeed appeared practically identical to the 1855/57 model pictured on the Wikipedia article for Volcanic Repeating Firearms. Volcanic was definitely out of business, or rather as I explained earlier had undergone name changes, by 1870. Oliver Winchester basically took over the company and named their products after himself. Mr. Smith & Mr. Wesson went on to form their own famous self-named firearms company. I think that as long as I don't do anything more than that one revert (or any further reverts) to the article itself, I'm OK since my real interest here is seeing Cerenok edit responsibly. If he uses the IP socks again, or just goes back to reverting, that hasn't happened. If OTOH he continues to discuss this, doesn't edit war and other editors get involved and there's a consensus to do it his way in this article, that's what's supposed to happen.

However, it seems Cerenok has stopped putting the bit about Reckless that caused the original edit war in there, and your latest dispute is simply about the wording of the surounding sentences (his version, yours, something that's a matter of editorial choice, not policy. Do you really think this is blockworthy? Yes, he reverted you, but I can live with wording that mentions the original films' years of release as well as I can live with wording that just makes them the catchall "1980s". Help on talk page for "Lewis Latimer"

I'm having a bit of an issue with another editor regarding edits to the timeline in the Incandescent light bulb article. I'd been given the go-ahead to list other inventors who had pioneered techniques for the manufacture of carbon filaments used in incandescent lighting in the late 19th century, because it had become clear after much research, that Lewis Latimer was cited purely for political reasons (he's African American.) Though his contribution to carbon filament production techniques is minor, he has been heralded as one of the greatest "black inventors" who ever lived. I had contended that if his minor contribution was so important as to be included on the timeline for the history of the incandescent light bulb, that other inventors and their "process{es) for the manufacture of carbon filaments" should also be included in the timeline.

Long story short: Another editor continues to push his agenda by deleting all of my additions to the timeline, yet retaining Mr. Latimer's notation. His argument for the revisions? That patent numbers are pointless, and so boring that no-one will bother to look them up. That having multiple entries for "essentially the same innovation" is "repetitive" (but we'll keep Latimer up there.) And finally, that there simply isn't enough room.

I know you're an admin, so could you check out the talk page and my edits, and tell me what can be done? Maybe I'm wrong, but maybe I'm not. Just thought I'd ask an expert. Thanks, Mr. Scream! 76.119.76.228 (talk) 21:18, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Unconventional editing help needed

Since you know Grant Morrison, assorted other professionals, and possibly some of the controversy that has surrounded me, could you please help me out with something very important, but which would require an unconventional approach for Wikipedia?

I know that it is unconventional and somewhat alien to rule-stickling (or in my case compulsively anal-retentive) trivia indexers such as ourselves, and it took a long time for myself to truly wrap my head around despite professionals trying to explain, but I very sincerely ask you to please make as openminded thorough consideration of the concept as you are able to? Since you are an artist yourself it should probably be easier for you than it was for me.

It is like this. The thing is that icons are not just there for entertainment (or when abused, propaganda), they are there to make children, who later mature into adults, feel fundamentally safe from harm, to slay the nightmares, horrors, darkness, dangers, and instill a sense of hope and self-confidence in handling threats, both real and imagined.

If you undermine them too much, fear, terror, madness, despair, paranoia, war, and desperate amoral survival values start to sneak into the minds of people and spread around even to those not mentally self-aware enough to notice what is happening.

And in these times, with the combination of social upheaval, uncertainty for the future, global disasters, economic recession, undermined values, contemtuous schizophrenic media chaos, revolutionary internet demagogues, and gradually broken down mental defenses/sense of individuality due to constantly being connected to the internet hive mind, belief in positive heroic role models (never mind if they are fictional, especially if most of the real ones are corrupt), and their (hence the children themselves) ability to conquer the madness, horror, despair, and scary monsters in the darkness is absolutely essential for both themselves and the future responsible handling of the world to not break down into nothingness. Hence, why media people in general started to hate me. Given my handicaps and personal background, I eventually turned so overwhelmed by the sheer hopelessness of the sum total of everything I had encountered that my typically autistic anal-retentive nature instinctively started to index the horrors... And as I have an addiction, did so online, which, although I am far from the only one, and unlike most of the others hate the evil concepts, and do not perceive them as something to worship due to sheer destructive power, I was nevertheless the most recogniseable, as I never lied about who I was.

Meaning, I am very worried that I have unintentionally helped to do harm to innocent children, along with people who are scared and need hope, and would now like to help undo the damage. However, I do not have your social communication skills or practical bureaucratic ability, and would like to please ask for your help in considering what we wikipedians can do to in this particular matter for once try to be openminded and consider the harm. Specifically how to properly "defang" the pages detailing absolutely nightmarish concepts as completely overwhelming for the forces of light, health, and sanity, as then any readers the world over trying to be inspired, flee from the monsters, and gain hope, will in lack of other options, start to identify with the by far stronger party... Which, in the case of demons and eldritch abominations, means deeply unhealthy mental states, madness, lack of connection to life, health, and experience, gradual decay and inescapable hopeless situations, and possibly turning into massive problems for society through extremist communities. I very sincerely, and after long consideration, please ask you to not simply disregard this or make a casual comment. This is genuinely socially relevant, and your fellow professional artists are widespread vainly struggling against it. Hence, could you please ask around your contacts, and think through what we in Wikipedia, as members of the global community, can do to be socially responsible in handling this matter? It is a very crucial and dangerous juncture in the world, in which anything can spread and quickly infect lots of people, which makes it potentially disastrous to help spread fear or madness, and now that my own compulsions are turning more manageable, I would like to help in what small ways that I can. While I appreciate a good editor, and I see you are quite distinguished, I would like to think that perhaps there could have been a better way of handling edits for this article. As I take no issue with the comments you left me on my My talk page, however I was unclear of what exactly you were refering to that needed references. You deleted the presidents sentence, therefore I readded it with a reference; the assumption being that the deleted sentence was the one needing the reference. However, you replied that the marriage and children sentence needed references. Very well, reference found. The issue I think would have been resolved better if it were simply stated that marriage, children, and presidents needed instead of the verbose explanation of Wikipedia editing standards. I was not malicious, slanderous, or vandalizing and therefore feel that I shouldn't have been told to "don't reverse my edits." If I committed any of those three aforementioned things then it would certainly warrant being dissuaded to contribute to Wikipedia in the very least. I don't disagree with Wikipedia's standards and recognize that you are trying to maintain them, however I hope you recognize that there are people out there like me that are willing to support them, and there are more simple approaches to attain that. I thought the blog site quoted some interview with him as it sounded like Lazenby speaking, but if you say it's a bad source and I can't find any collaboration I'll drop it. I see you made a similar change at The Magic of Reality: How We Know What's Really True citing WP:OVERCITE & WP:PAIC, and I agree with Doc James that these are poor guidelines as additional citations prevent people adding citation needed tags and losing track of which reference supports which statement. In an encyclopedia where most articles are sorely lacking in references it is not good to go around removing citations unless it truely is OVERKILL on OVERKILL. I would have undone these changes, but seeing you're an admin and could beat up or something, I have defered from doing this. Hi, I recently started the bibliography section on artist's WP page, and about your comments on the edit ("His name is NICK Cardy, not "Cardy", it's GRAND Comics Database, not "Great"...") I wonder: it is necessary to make the explanation in so unpolite mode? Well, I DO know that his name is Nick. I think that appart from editing changes and correcting mistakes, you should appreciate the contributions other users do, instead of remarking things such as "his name is Nick..." which sounds unnecessarily rude. Blocked and confused

It seems I've been blocked by you for editing. I think the notice and information provided for this situation is somewhat confusing and hard to navigate. I think I'm supposed to put this: {{unblock|1=I don't think the edits in question are mine.}}. somewhere, but can't seem to find it. I've seen a list of edits I didn't make, but perhaps those are just examples of what I might see if I'd gone to the right link? Almost all of the edits I've made have been to discographies, and I think they were benign, just adding links. If I'm being blocked for some other reason, I think you've got the wrong guy, somehow. It now looks as though I'm being blocked for submitting a page (which then I considered valid, as it had press releases published online as well as an online presence) but which evidently did not meet Wikipedia criteria, in 2008. I have since submitted no pages. I'm not sure why I was blocked in 2012 for something which happened four years ago. Am I misreading the situation? However, you may be unaware of a standard in New Jersey municipality articles which has developed to mention single ethnic nationalities (note nationalities, not races) comprising at least 10% of a municipality's population as per the 2010 Census. This has nothing to do with WP:UNDUE or WP:NPOV because it applies across the board to any ethnic nationality which can be cited appropriately. It is also insulting to generalize a single nationality into and amongst a heterogeneous racial class. Therein the mention, which I will replace, but obviously please feel free to reply. Miles Morales Lead section

I won't question the need to reference the cartoon, but could you explain what was wrong with this lede?

Miles Morales is a fictional character, a Marvel Comics superhero created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Sara Pichelli. A teenager of African American and Latino descent, Miles is the second Spider-Man in the Ultimate Marvel continuity following the death of Peter Parker. After the original Spider-Man's death, Miles became the subject of the new Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man.[1]

Who knows. I am always afeerd of the USA Today effect wherein "if it is written it must be important" - combine that with the "if it is in the infobox why should I read the rest of the article" attitude. Hi. You made a change to this very page yesterday, but did not provide a clear explanation as to why you made the change back to its original form. My edit or edits were simple and consistent with Wikipedia's format. Categories named after their municipalities, for instance, Category:Union City, New Jersey is one of the several dozen on here and I have never encountered an issue about it. Adding this symbol "|" within the category brackets is standard, meaning that this is the primary category. The article Union City, New Jersey is the main article in its own category. It should not be in the alphabetical category list (under "U"). It is similar to adding *, or ', etc. See Category:Asbury Park, New Jersey, Category:Newark, New Jersey, Category:Hoboken, New Jersey, and I could list more, but you get the idea. Edit war brewing. People are changing the death date to April 13 without giving any citation whatsoever. Apparently a fan site gave that date, but the local newspaper, which is footnoted, says April 14.

Actually the quotes are kind-of a big deal. They are relevant and used for the beginning of each show/character/season. I know that people were doing messy drive-bys on them but is it possible to put the quotes back? I did not add them but they were very useful for research. One more thing-well, Two. I opened-up a new topic on The Real Housewives of New Jersey Talk page. And, there is some confusion about capitalization of the word, "housewives". Aside-from the regular disputes about who is and is not a (with a capital "H"-"Housewife"), the standard practice has been to use the "H"-when referring-to "Housewife/Housewives", IF it is in direct reference to their role on the show as an "official" "Housewife". I read the protocol that you linked and I believe that "Housewives" is used as a proper-noun in this instance. 3RR/disruption problem

Are you still around? I noticed that you posted a message at WP:ANI a few minutes ago. We have a problem with a non-communicating, newly registered user at here. I reported them to WP:3RRNB several hours ago, then left the user to it for a few hours. Getting tired of their disruption, I then determined their removals of cited content to be vandalism, having left numerous notes on their talk page and declining an AfC submission as being a POV fork. They almost immediately reverted me.

This is a quite contentious article and one that gets around 10k views per month (last 90 days). Usually, I leave it to 3RRNB but on this occasion there is a growing backlog there & it now seems clear to me that the contributor has no intention of engaging. Death in Lead of 9/11 victim articles

I agree that victims with Wikipedia pages who are solely notable for dying on 9/11 should have this mentioned in the lead. However, those with prior notability should be recognized for the accomplishments that made them notable, not the circumstances of their deaths. Jerry Lee Lewis is notable for his art and his charity, because he put a lot of time, energy and ideas into both. They are accomplishments which spanned years and defined his public image. Garnet Bailey just happened to be on a plane one day, which happened to fly into a building. He had nothing to do with creating the incident, and played no significant part in it (no more than any other non-notable victim). He merely died. If he wasn't onboard that day, would anything else have likely been different? You are simply upset that someone doesn't like pictures that contribute nothing to the article, not only create a visually unappealing layout, but also comes off as overly maudlin. You don't own the page. Removing a poorly framed snapshot of block of stone is not disruptive or vandalism, since the content of the article remains the same, and nothing of illustrative purpose was ever removed. Personally, I think you're just upset that someone is playing in what you perceive to be your sandbox. Re your conversation at User talk:PoppingCorns. According to Wiktionary, cabrón does not have a derogatory meaning in Mexico, although it apparently does just about everywhere else. Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon and Miles Morales

Don't know if you're watching the show but it really has nothing in common with the Ultimate comics and the connection is really in name only. It's basically just Spider-Man teaming up with other heroes and there's nothing based off anything Bendis wrote. It doesn't even take place in the Ultimate Universe as the various characters are based on their 616 counterparts (except for Nick Fury who is the Samuel L Jackson version). Another editor has reported a particularly bad edit-warrior, now on his 7th revert, at the 3RR board, where there seems to be a backlog — I'm noticing others there with well over 4 reverts. This isn't one that I reported, though I did add a concurrence. If you're around and have time to take a look, I hate to ask, but wow, this guy being reported has been nothing but disruptive. His "exact age of death" isn't cited, but his exact date of birth and exact date of death *are* cited. Anybody with a basic understanding of how birthdays work will be able to determine his age with that information. However, at this point it's become obvious to me that you aren't interested in allowing intelligent, reasonable posts - you are only interested in exercising your power, either just to satisfy your ego, or as a personal thing against me. Hope you've been well A user you've admonished, Hearfourmewesique, who was at least once investigated for sockpuppetry with inconclusive results, has been adding the same unconfirmed personal claims about Vanessa Paradis in violation of WP:BLP. When I noted politely on his talk page he was approaching 3RR, a fairly new user account (since April), Libby995, made the same edit — with a misleading edit summary, to boot. Did Tenebrae state that you had in fact done this, or that you were, in fact, Libby? My understanding was that he suspected you and Libby were one and the same, and wanted advice on how to proceed. One cannot be accused of "lying" for merely expressing a suspicion, even if that suspicion turns out to be wrong. If I may express my own observations here:

Tenebrae, I see no clear evidence pointing to the notion that Hearfourmewesique and Libby are one and the same, and if you'll pardon the criticism, I think you should've exercised a bit more judgment in claiming that they made the "same" edits (they weren't), or in removing the Personal life info that you did, as a portion of it was indeed sourced. I'm not saying you should second guess yourself if you ever observe something that appears to be genuine sockpuppetry, but this wasn't it.

Hearfourmewesique, you need similarly to exercise better judgment in your language, something you've had problems with in the past. In addition to referring to an incorrect suspicion as a "lie" (similar to when your earlier misuse of the words "opinion" and "bully"), you need to stop violating WP:CIV by calling other editors "lazy" as you did to Tenebrae here. This is the second time you have recently done this this. After you did so with me here, and subsequently offered an apology for it that I accepted, I thought we had moved on. You need to stop. Editors are not required to source info that other editors want to include in an article. They may do so (and I myself do so), but it's not their job; it's the job of the editor who favors the material's inclusion. I respect the work you've done yourself on this front, but you can't obligate other editors to find sources for your material. That's not "laziness", that's adherence to WP:V and the nature of an editor's limited time. It's one thing to opine that anonymous IPs who show no interest in the site's policies or in doing respectable work are lazy. It's another to address specific editors as such, especially when they have edit histories like this and this. Leveling this accusation isn't just uncivil, it shows a marked inability to form coherent, informed conclusions. If you don't have time to source a bit of info, and you really don't want to remove it, then as a compromise, move it to the talk page until it can be sourced, as was suggested to me on Jimmy Wales' talk page once. I read the message you left me regarding my edits on The Real World: St. Thomas page. I will explain each thing:

Yes, I did forget to cite the things I added to the cast bios, most of the those I got from MTV'S official website. I was going to add it in, but just simply forgot, that's an error on my behalf and I was going to put them in once I remembered to. I'm still getting used to adding massive edits to Wiki, before this I rarely ever edited unless I saw obvious spelling errors somewhere, then I would log in just to fix it, and that was the only time I would ever log into Wiki. Now that's its summer and I don't have much of a social life, I've been adding to Wiki, and I am still getting used to learning how to add references and citations.

About Laura's parents, sorry if I worded it wrong, or weirdly, but what I meant when I wrote "Laura was adopted shortly after birth due to her biological parent's inability to raise another child" was because her bio-parents already had a 19 month old daughter at the time and could not AFFORD to raise another child. In the first episode of RW: St Thomas, they explain this. Again, sorry if I forgot to put the source, I'm still trying to get used to editing massive amounts to Wiki.

Brandon's nickname "Hollywood"? I NEVER heard anyone in the episode, or himself even, call him Hollywood. Not at all. I have no idea where that information came from.

I honestly did not notice the cite error you mentioned before, and when you sent me the first message, you appeared to have already fixed it, so what was I going to? About me "using slang and informal language", I am only 18, and I just graduated high school. I thought I was actually doing a pretty decent job with my contributions, but now that you've told me to "Please stop" it kind of kills my confidence right there and now I'm kind of sad that you've told me that.

Would it be okay with you if I continued adding the Denver episodes (considering that both of us have already started and it looks sort of silly to have only 9 of the 28 episodes listed on the article) and then you could just help me edit them? Or does that give you more work to do? I really want to help with these articles because I love Wikipedia and The Real World is my favorite show, and if you could please let me continue doing this, and you help edit my mistakes, would that be alright with you? Of course I took English classes in high school, hahaha. I would say I was a pretty decent English student, it was probably one of my best subjects, however, I will agree that I write rather informally. Even my Creative Writing teacher that I had for the second semester of my senior year told me my writing style is sort of Holden Caulfield-ish, which, sure comes in handy for creative writing assignments, but certainly not for an encyclopedia. I'm not disagreeing with that at all, I guess mostly comes branches off of how I speak in real life, like an 18 year old. I try my hardest to sound/write more proper and formal, and whenever I had to write essays in school I normally got pretty high grades on them, in most cases. One thing I should do, however, is keep my edits more brief, and not to shower them with unnecessary details (or use any 'slang', which for me is part of my every day language, but I will try my hardest not to use as much, if any.) I will also try my hardest to remember to check my grammar and spelling errors. (Hopefully having bad grammar/spelling with you in your talk page isn't a problem, considering no body else is really going to see it other than us, hehe. Night, I hate to bother you with this, but the aggressiveness and shoot-first-talk-later Hearfourmewesiquewith whom I have been polite and collegial, is getting to a very bad place where he's now resulted to insulting me on the Vanessa Paradis talk page.

Here is a list of his edits' policy, guideline and MOS vios. Among them, he's adding citations that simply do not say what he claims they say.

  1. First: He keeps insisting that The Hollywood Reporter, People, The Sun and the Daily Mail are not italicized. Periodical names are italicized. This is basic grammar.
  2. This citation — http://www.allocine.fr/personne/fichepersonne_gen_cpersonne=99706.html — does not support the statement " Vanessa's sister, Alysson Paradis, is a French actress." Vanessa's name is not even mentioned in that citation. A second citation, which we both agree on — http://www.purePeople.com/people/alysson-paradis_p245 mdash; does specify Alysson is Vanessa's sister and an actress. So why he keeps re-adding a citation that doesn't suppor the claim when we already have one that does support the claim is being disruptive and argumentative for no reason.
  3. Finally, his version contains four images in a very short article. That's decorative and a vio of image guidelines.

That's where we are. I think the bigger overall issue is his angry, bullying, insulting and WP:OWN-like behavior, for which he's been blocked from editing in the past, and his talk page has numerous warnings about edit-warring, so this is not an isolated incident but chronic behavior. Hi! I see that you very knowledgeable about our censorship policies so I have a question that I often come across in being an AFTv5 reviewer. AFTv5 is a new tool designed by Okeyes (IronHolds) that replaces the current system of ratings. It is open-ended, and people can put in whatever feedback they want with it and it's visible to the public. It can be viewed at that specific article's page or at Special: ArticleFeedbackv5. Any reader can put a thumbs up next to it or flag it as abuse, but only rollbackers, reviewers, and admins can feature, hide, or request oversight on posts. Since it's open-ended, people can post whatever they want on it, from curse words, to BLP issues. Alan, please do not do blind, blanket reverts of articles, as you did here. Unless you can assert that all of my edits to that article were without merit, such reverts are completely inappropriate. The material you mentioned as having been removed was removed for good reason: Much information in the article was unsourced, and quite a number of the photos in the article were of poor quality, bore no relevance to the sections they were in, harbored only incidental relevance to the city's notability, and were so numerous that they violated WP:STACKING. In addition, you also undid all the other work I did to that article, fixing citation formatting, placement of fact tags; moving images to more relevant sections, a lot of copyediting (compare the passage on Kevin Smith in the In media section to what it looked like before, for example), and you even removed material that I added to the article with a source. Please examine the edits a bit more closely if you're going to revert them all.

To be fair, the aerial shot does make a better choice for the Infobox, and I missed the fact that passage about the ice boats in the Arts and culture section was indeed sourced, and not unsourced, as I mistakenly believed. Thanks for that. Nightscream (talk) 02:53, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

I can assure you that adding about 15 new sources to the article, addressing almost all of your fact tags and removing some of the unencyclopedic material in the article was not a "blind revert". I do appreciate your frustration, as while I did try to restore as much of the redeemable content as possible, some of your rewording may have gotten lost. I tried to re-use as much of your effort as possible, but the significant re-arranging of content made it very hard for me to deduce what had changed, even after I tried to line the material up against each other paragraph by paragraph. I agree that the photos were often placed illogically and I tried my best to match your placements or to put them into other appropriate places. Please understand that my intention was to address the concerns you had raised and that many of the sources I had added to address these concerns has been effectively lost in a "blind revert", at least from my perspective. I know that I was not perfect in my efforts to retain your rewording, but I would hope that we can all devote effort to retain as much of our respective improvements to the article, especially for items that now have "fact" tags, which had been addressed in my edits. I hope that we can work together to improve this article, one that needs and would benefit from further improvement through copyediting and improved sourcing. Hey Nightscream, first, you need to archive this page. Damn long. Second, I was looking at the Symbiote related main articles Eddie Brock, Carnage (comics), Venom (comics) and Symbiote (comics), and there is a fairly heavy overlap of appearances particularly on Symbiote (comics) where all those mentions are from those characters since the Symbiote is rarely an individual character, and in Eddie Brock's case, most of the Venom mentions are attributed to him even though he hasn't been Venom in a long time, so it splits the mentions across articles and creates different attributions. I was thinking of potentially creating a single article like Symbiote in other media or something (which admittedly doesn't lend itself strongly to intuitive finding if you're thinkinf of Venom or Carnage in particular. That way we could cut down on the multiple mentions across different articles, reduce redundancy when correct info exists in one place but doesn't/is outdated/is incorrect in another, makes it easier to maintain that info for Films/Games/TV, easier to police, allows for expansion and so forth. Off the top of my head you could do something like:@

  • Video game
    • Eddie Brock
      • Whatever (As Venom)
      • Whatever (As Anti-Venom)
    • Flash Thompson
    • Whatever

Or

  • Videogame
    • Venom
      • Whatever (Eddie Brock)

Is there some difficulty recording Roddenberry's birth date as (February 5, 1974) in his wikipedia article since we are not supposed to use sources such as IMDB here except perhaps for a record of a film's awards. I just ask this since I notice Anne Hathaway's article has the same format regarding her date of birth with no supporting source but no one disputes this--presumably because it is clear from the public records. I find it interesting that you responded to my message on your talk page, Cyberlink, by leaving one here on mine, implying that you were willing to discuss this, but then you childishly removed my message from your talk page message with the edit summary "Not unsourced." I'm not sure if this means that you're conflicted between a genuine interest in discussion and irritation at seeing your edits undone, but it certainly does not speak well of you if you intend to collaborate with others with whom you might find yourself in disagreement from time to time. I was going to confine my answer to my talk page, but since it seems you're attempting to continue violating policy by reverting the edit, I have little choice but to leave additional messages on yours. Let me see if I can address your points:
The edit was not accompanied with a citation that indicated where the information came from. That means that readers cannot verify it, per the Verifiability Policy. That means it was unsourced, since that's what "unsourced" means, and this is not predicated by whether it "comes from an episode's credits", or whether the episode "already aired". (What do you think "unsourced" means?) The purpose of the Verifiability policy requires that readers be informed of where information comes from. While readers can presume that information on a film's cast is derived from its credits, this is not so easy with a TV show that has aired multiple episodes, which is why we have the episode cite template (provided here and explained in further detail here), which allows us to specify which episode information comes from.
As for your argument that the edit was four months ago, again, this is not relevant. There is no policy, guideline or principle that requires editors to remove unsourced material only if it hasn't been present four more than four months, or precludes them from "disputing" the information after that period. Editors sometimes miss things when they're initially added to articles, myself included. In what way should this preclude them from removing unsourced material when they find it?
Btw, you also undid other edits to the article, without providing an explanation for this in your edit summary.
Also, please observe Wikipedia's Civility Policy. Comments like "What's wrong with you?" could be perceived as a violation of that policy. If you come into conflict with another editor, please try to work out in a civil manner.

Mall info from 67.253.250.117

What on earth do you do with an editor like User:67.253.250.117? The material he's adding about anchors is extremely useful, and I presume that it's neither made up nor original research. I assume that this editor isn't going in to each store in each mall and measuring the square footage, and the numbers for the malls I'm familiar with are too reasonably accurate to be made out of whole cloth. But where do they come from? You know that I hate removing content like this and I'd be willing to source it, but I can't find the source that's being used and I've asked this IP and others (it may well be the same person) adding this material and I have never received a response or a reference. How do you deal with this kind of situation? It seems so weird going to WP:ANI to complain that some lunatic is adding valuable content but refuses to provide sources. You know that I'm a tad more flexible in trying to deal with people who don't know how to source, but this situation is particularly maddening to me. The stuff is great and I'd be happy to walk through everyone of those dozens of articles where you did the reverts and reinsert the material if I only I had some idea of what the source is, but sadly I don't and this user has never answered. A block may well be inevitable, but no less sad. I would have hoped that a very stern warning from an admin would carry more wait than a nebbish plea from a mere mortal like myself, but some people just never catch on. Notable residents

Having updated several hundred articles for places in New Jersey and around the country, the text "Notable current and former residents of Podunkville include:" addresses a constant source of confusion and is far from redundant. Based on the use of the term "Notable residents", many editors believe that the person must currently live in the place and have deleted entries with an edit summary saying that they no longer live in Podunkville. If you know of some way to make that clearer using a header I would agree that it would be redundant, but I can provide several dozen edits where I can show that this clarification eliminates confusion as to the inclusion criteria. Ancestry

Not sure what you're saying how it's "user generated" - the only user-generated things on Ancestry are the family trees/stories/photos and forum posts - the rest of the records come from records departments of the states or from libraries, like the Library of Congress or government sources like the Social Security Administration. Miles Morales response and more

I updated the history revolving around Miles' fight with Prowler cause I wasn't sure if we have positive confirmation that Prowler died from his gear exploding. That should've been elaborated more. Of course I have heard of one of the issues where Miles meets Captain America the same time he meets Gwen Stacy and Peter's Aunt May. There was a crossover where Miles met the Earth-616 Spider-Man in Spider-Men. What do you think of that crossover so far? List of Comic Book Men episodes

Hi. For some examples of webisodes, see list of Stargate Universe episodes, list of Heroes episodes, list of Community episodes and list of The Office (U.S. TV series) episodes. Each of these is formatted slightly differently, but one thing they all do is collect the webisodes together under a separate header rather than interweaving them with the seasons alongside which they aired. Now, my point isn't just that "this is what other pages do, so this one should follow suit", but I personally think it looks a lot tidier, especially if we assume the podcast will continue with season 2 (and 3 and 4?). I also assume that not everyone looking for the episodes will be interested in the podcast, or vice-versa, and this way is easier to read for them, whereas it'll be pretty easy to make it clear which podcasts go with which TV season (matching table colours, sub-headings, etc.) for those of us interested in both. --Monkeynutbar (talk) 07:09, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi there! I just came across the article for The Real World: Atlanta, which you created eight days ago. You wrote that it would be the "twenty-eighth" season of RW. In fact, The Real World: Portland is going to be the twenty-eighth season, and is currently in production (I changed the ordinal number at The Real World: Atlanta to "twenty-ninth" and made The Real World: Portland the preceding season in the infobox before I read the two references). The two references you included at The Real World: Atlanta are both just reports of casting calls for RW in Atlanta—neither of them state that a season of RW will be shot in Atlanta.

Also, in the current St. Thomas season, I think the relationships between Robb & Marie and Trey & Laura are so complicated that I think it would be better off to wait to see what happens the rest of the season before adding them to the Romance section on the main Real World article. In the last episode, Robb appears to have severed his relationship with Emily back home in order to focus on Marie, and Trey seems to be conflicted between another girl back home (Ashley) and accepting a relationship with Laura. I see that you are an Admin. That makes me even more perplexed, because you should know BLP policy better than me. I must be missing something big. (If you know what, please educate me, I can learn something new. I am being sincere.) Right now I don't understand by any reach, that adding a Youtube ref as an RS that constitutes an attack on the integrity of any BLP subject, can be consistent w/ policy. So I reverted it. (Which according to my understanding is the prescribed thing to do, to protect both the BLP subject, and WP.) User:ChessPlayerLev re-added the Youtube ref. You added a supporting ref, but when I looked at it, it seems to be a blog report made by a voluntary contributor/user of the site, and it simply affirmed the existence of the Youtube video, and proceeded to give personal speculation. (The site seems very gossipy as a result, and how could this be a reliable source? And even if it was, how could simply affirming the existence of the video, be a contribution of anything, how could it be an RS giving any support to any content. Did I do wrong? You provided argument at the article Talk, that normally a Youtube video is not adequate as reliable ref, but in this case, that the accusatory Youtube video was okay as a ref in the BLP, *because*, the person making the Youtube video, the person making the accusation against the BLP subject, was himself notable. However, I do not see how that argument is valid. (For example, assume BLP subject 'A'. Person 'B', who is notable, makes an accusatory Youtube video, attacking the integrity of person 'A'. Person 'C', also notable, has a different grievance against person 'A', and makes an accusatory Youtube video against person 'A'. Person 'D', also notable, has an entirely different grievance against person 'A', and makes an accusatory Youtube video. Person 'E', likewise. Person 'F', likewise. Person 'G', likewise. And so on. Are you saying, User:Nightscream, that because persons 'B', 'C', 'D', 'E', 'F', 'G', and so on, are each notable, then the accusatory Youtube videos that each makes, may be included as refs in the BLP of person 'A'?) To even their grudges against you (in fact, in attempt to *smear* your reputation and ruin you), each of your enemies makes an accusatory Youtube video, impugning your reputation, that you were a cheater in their business deals with you. As a result, your BLP article on Wikipedia, is filled with refs to Youtube videos made by the individual notable persons 'B', 'C', 'D', 'E', 'F', 'G', 'H', 'I', 'J', 'K', 'L', 'M', 'N', 'O', 'P', 'Q', 'R', 'S', 'T', 'U', 'V', 'W', 'X', and 'Y'. I had to study the sentence for a few minuets before seeing that you're right. I did make an error in grammar. The word "While" is what sunk me, a result of me not reading the text carefully. I made another error. ..."he has indicated that". This is a bit ambiguous because it can refer to either Harrison.

Entree read as follows: "While Harrison's son, Rick, has mentioned that his grandmother stated that they are descendants of Presidents William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison, he has indicated that he does not give much credence to this idea."

I wonder who "he" refers to. I think the pronoun is pointing to the elder Harrison, but it's still a bit ambiguous. I think that the entire paragraph is clunky and wordy, so I smoothed it out a bit.

I change it to:

"While Richard "Old Man" Harrison's Wife believes that the family are descendants of Presidents William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison, The Old Man is skeptical about the relationships."

Saga (comics)

It depends what you are after. If you think it is in reasonably good shape, stick it up at WP:GAN; there doesn't seem to be anything glaringly wrong with it. This is usually a pretty good way to get general advice and improvement when an article is already good. The other option, particularly if you are unsure if it is OK, is to get a review at WP:PR. However, this can be hit-and-miss; it may sit there for a long time, and there are only a few editors who regularly review, and they have to do a ridiculous amount of work these days so progress can be slow. And I'm never sure PR is the best thing for GA, it is better for FA. Or, if you want me to have an informal look, I'm happy to do that. Let me know. Sarastro1 (talk) 20:27, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

Actually, there's no way of knowing if you're really Frank Cho, and Wikipedia has been hoaxed before by very convincing-sounding impostors. So have Facebook and Twitter, which is one reason Twitter now has the "verification" process.
But even if this the actual, for-real Frank Cho, Wikipedia disallows what it calls original research such as claimed personal knowledge. That's why we have to use reliable published sources. Otherwise, as I'm sure you can understand, anyone could say anything about themselves. Have you seen the movies 21 Jump Street or 10 Things I Hate About You? Well, both movies have Real World references in them. In 21 Jump Street, there is a RW reference at a party scene, while in 10 Things I Hate About You, a girl is watching a clip of The Real World: Seattle on a TV in her bedroom. In the Parodies, derivatives, and references section on the main Real World article, there is only one statement that is sourced. Hmm, what do you think? Hi, I corrected an error on the George Pérez page that you reverted. Action Comics takes place five years prior to the events depicted in Superman. You're stating that it's "five years ahead", which is inaccurate. The phrase "five years ahead" that George uses in the cited article means his Superman series occurs five years ahead of Action, not the other way around. Are you actually reading the series? The timeline in Action Comics is right when Clark arrives in Metropolis. Superman is after he's been around for a bit, after he's established and known publicly. More Real World Discussion

Hello. On the Departed Housemates section on the main Real World article, I removed Bronne Bruzgo (The Real World: Cancun). Even after he was evicted from the ME Cancun hotel for the fire extinguisher incident, he was still allowed to visit the rest of his roommates in their suite, but not allowed to sleep there. So he never did depart. Unlike his housemate Joey Rozmus, who was evicted after his firing from the group job, or Adam Royer (The Real World: Las Vegas (2011), who was completely barred from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino for his drunken shenanigans, even when Royer returned for that season's 12th episode. I'm a bit agnostic on the topic, but Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline suggests that we use "Notable people" rather than "Notable people". I've never been one to slavishly adhere to a standard if it contradicts common sense as I see it, but I see no reason not to conform in this case and I have the change made automatically as I work my way through New Jersey articles. Asking a couple of WPC admins to weigh in

WikiProject Comics Manual of Style is silent on this, but countless examples exist of comics features, such as "Tales of Asgard" in Journey into Mystery or "Iron Man" in Tales of Suspense, being in quote marks, while the title of the comic-book itself is in italics. This follows the format of songs being in quote marks and albums in italics, or short stories being in quote marks and novels or collections being in italics.

Now, anyone with a common sense would realize that "IN JULY 2006 ABC RAN AN UPDATE TO THE ORIGINAL 2007" Makes no sense, as you can't run an update from a story that happened in the future. How the hell can ABC run an update from 2007 in July 2006?....

Maybe "2012" was not the correct answer, but I urge you to correct that illogical statement that stands as of right now.

What article that I created are you attacking me for it not being notavble? That seems like an over-the-top attack. Also, there are many articles in wikipedia that have no in-line citiations at all. I remain unconvinced that an in-line citiation is required for every single fact in a wikipedia article. Lastly, the fact that you have attacked me for edits which involved merely altering categories to reflect what is already in the body of the article just seems over-the-top and excessive. Surnames in The Real World articles

Hello. I don't know if you follow The Challenge as much as The Real World, but I'm possibly headed toward an edit war with another user, regarding using a contestant's full name in the initial cast table vs. only using their screen name in an initial cast table. On the Fresh Meat II article, the aforementioned main The Challenge article and Battle of the Seasons (2012) article, a user keeps changing Christian "CJ" Koegel to "CJ Koegel," when his real first name of "Christian" can be verified. Now I don't know if this policy is explained under WP:SURNAME. I think that if a player's first name can be verified, then it should be displayed with their last name (and nickname/initials, if one is available) in its first mention. Unlike CJ, we don't know the first (non-initial) name of JD Ordoñez or MJ Garrett. What's your take regarding this situation? Thanks. DPH1110 (talk) 07:05, 27 September 2012 (UTC)DPH1110

Yeah, he did the same thing to the Cancun article. The thing is, there was no citation in the cell containing his name, so I let it go, figuring I could put off the matter until later. So I looked just now at his bio in the Cancun article, and saw that one of the sources cited indeed supports his real given name. I restored it to all three articles, and added that cite. NY Comic Con follow-up

Hey, Night, how's is going? Did you get any new Wikipix at the NY Comic Con, or was it just people you've shot already?

I have a question. An editor with whom I had a contentious relationship — including his going through all my talk-page posts to put together clues to my identity, leading to an admin warning him about that sanctions that would follow "outing" another editor — has left me a talk-page message asking my opinion on an article that I, along with others, have edited. We've asked each other not to contact other another. I honestly don't know if he's trying to make peace or to initiate contact for some other reason that would make me regret re-engaging with him. (He's removed all his talk-page posts regarding me, and I don't want to stir things up by linking to old, deleted content, preferring to let water go under the bridge.)

I don't want to be impolite toward a gesture of good will, if it's genuine, but engaging with someone you shouldn't engage with isn't a good idea, either. I'm not quite sure why he feels he has to ask me this particular question rather than making what seems an innocuous edit. Any advice you might give, I'd appreciate. You have initiated an individual reassessment for Saga (comic book), but I think you meant for it to be a community one. I had a quick look at it anyway and just have a few points to make. While you are right that reviewers are not infallible gospel and can be questioned, they are also volunteers within this volunteer project. They are in essence doing nominators a favour by reviewing the articles and are under no obligation to accept your questioning or continue a review they are no longer interested in. If it is a persistent problem then they can be brought to the talk page where advice and bans have been handed out before. However, Malleus is a long term reviewer and one of the most productive and capable reviewers in the project so I doubt anything would come of it. While it is a shame you two fell out he was within his rights to abandon the review.

As to the article you can put it up for a community reassessment (an individual one won't work as the person who initiated it is supposed to close it and you obviously can not close your own nomination). However, reassessment is not the best way to deal with poor or incomplete reviews. If there was a specific aspect of the criteria that was being debated then we can help out, but we don't generally conduct full reviews (that is what WP:GAN is for). It is up to you, but if you go through the community process chances are it will be closed with advice to renominate. My suggestion would be to bite the bullet and renominate it now. Another reviewer will eventually take it up and Malleus's comments will be present in the article history template for them peruse. Either way you should probably delete the Talk:Saga (comic book)/GA2 page. AIRcorn (talk) 05:24, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

Mitt Romney's 2011 FEMA Comments in Hurricane Sandy

Hi Night, with all respect intended, this is from 2011 and about FEMA. When I put something in there about last year, an editor took it out and said, it was last year...even though I thought it had weight to be put in the article like evidently you did. I just think it's too political for an article that is supposed to be about a hurricane. Would think what you had would be great in the FEMA section under something like controversies. I just don't want a beautiful piece of work like the Sandy article to be bogged down with any kind of political stuff. That's why I didn't want global warning in it. I believe in climate change, but that's not the point. One can speculate all they want about IF warming caused anything at any time. That still won’t make it fact. There are two main problems I have: 1. article creep. This article is about voodoo zombies, not "Romero" zombies, and there shouldn't be any reference to them beyond the single paragraph that already exists. If you feel the need to add the image, it would be better placed in Zombie (fictional), which is about "Romero" zombies. 2. How is an image of a group of people not mentioned in the article meant to aid or educate the reader? It means nothing out of context, and it is completely out of context. Protection of Bayonne

The article for Bayonne, New Jersey is currently hard protected against editing by any non-administrator until October 7, 2013, due to persistent vandalism. I'm not sure that there ever were enough edits to the article to justify persistent vandalism, as the article had only 2 edits in October, 8 in September and 4 in August, which would hardly seem to justify a block. Nicole Atkins: Neptune City vs. Neptune Township

All of New Jersey's paired municipalities pose issues in distinguishing between two municipalities with nearly identical names, especially when sources are usually ambiguous in distinguishing between the two. I couldn't be any gladder that the two Princetons are consolidating, not least because it has been impossible to determine in which one of the two the notables live. I'll grant you that Danny Devito might well be from Neptune Township, New Jersey -- not Neptune City, New Jersey -- despite the fact that the source moved from the city article to the one for the township says that "DeVito was born in Neptune, N.J." But Nicole Atkins has been a bizarre case. There have been other battles about her residence, with you putting forth the position (joined by others) that she wrote an album title "Neptune City", but that she is from Neptune Township. The biggest problem here is that the source you moved from the city article to the township article (see this edit) says rather clearly that "Nicole Atkins, from Neptune City, N.J., is a marvelously talented fantasist..." This source, from The New York Times, seems to be rather clear in refering to a place of residence, not a title of an album. As I have in the past, I searched for sources supporting her residence in Neptune Township in Google / News / Archives and found none. Nor can I figure out why no source has ever mentioned the discrepancy between the album title and her place of residence, which seems to be an obvious way to go for any one covering her and trying to find an angle. As I see it -- solely based on the source provided -- she is from Neptune City. Your edit summaries of "She is from Neptune TOWNSHIP, NJ, not Neptune City." and "Wrong. She's from Neptune Township, not Neptune City. The cited source does not indicate that the album's title is necessarily a reference to where she is from." simply state what you believe to be correct without any evidence to support the claim or explain the discrepancy. I don't have any reason to believe that you are wrong, but the absence of a source to rebut the rather clear statement in the source provided is problematic, at a minimum. As I see it, the entry for Atkins as a notable should stay in the Neptune City article based on the strength of the source, until and unless other strong sources can be identified that establishes her residence in Neptune Township. I'm calling on your powers as an admin with anti-vandalism experience and familiarity with the comics world, and because we've often edited some of the same stuff on Wikipedia. There's an editor, Dominusexmachina, who is demonstrating some irksome ownership issues at Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes by insisting on some edits that introduce grammar errors. This mostly involves the use of "composed" vs. "comprised" [6][7][8][9] (I share Giraffedata's frustration with this problem), but it also involves the occasional incorrect comma placement and other minor issues. I have reverted these errors numerous times, and even left a polite (if exasperated) explanation on the user's talk page,[10] but he appears determined to institute language he wants, regardless of its incorrectness, by reverting my fixes either under his username or under a couple of IP addresses (editing under the IPs completely matches the editing of Dominusexmachina and totally passes the quack test [11][12]). Most of their edits appear to be perfectly constructive but involve lots of minor wordsmithing rather than genuine contributions, which is why this feels like WP:OWN.

At this point, since the editor has ignored the warning on his talk page, doesn't use edit summaries, and is consistently reverting corrections that I and other editors [13][14] have made to incorrect grammar and mechanics, it'd be helpful to have an admin weigh in and intervene as necessary.

Flash mob

The community decided to exclude examples from the article flash mob to bring it in line with articles such as protest, fire, performance, etc. While there have been many notable flash mobs, protests, fires, and performances, examples are explicitly excluded as the same found in most encyclopedia's. If the event itself is notable enough for inclusion then a separate sub-article can be written about it. The reason the first flash mobs are included are because they are directly linked with the founding of it. Various discussions of this can be found in the archival talk pages of the article. Lastly, its arguable that the big bang "flash mob" wasn't really a flash mob. The fact that it was a part of the show and created for it and by professionals do not meet the definition directly. For example, a protest on a television series and a protest in real life are very different. Just like an episode made to look like a flash mob and an actual flash mob are very different things. Hi, I just noticed you left me a message back in August, to which I never replied. My apologies. I was on a wikibreak for about a year-and-a-half, and only popped in briefly a few times. Your message concerned Ancestry.com, and discussion about whether it is a reliable source. If that hasn't been sorted yet, please let me know and I'll contribute my thoughts. (I assume it's been settled though.) I certainly do not regard that site as a reliable source. The only exception is that the site excerpts entries (which they've obviously paid for) from the Oxford Dictionary of American Family Surnames, which is, as the title suggests, a highly reliable source. Nightscream, should the fact that Clark is suing MTV be listed under legal troubles? Seems to me that would be more of a legal remedy for Clark than a trouble. This at the very least is an indication that what Clark has been saying for so many years may actually have some substance to it do you agree? Should I create a new section for legal remedies? Pawn Stars episode order

hi nightscream, they may have aired it wrong, but if you go back and rewatch the episodes (history website when they put it up or if you have on demand) you will see chumlee reference in the video game deal, about his real life skills of shooting guns on the show. And they include the clip from the PREIVOUS episode of the hat bet. Therefore it would be after the episode not before.

You twice deleted an addition to the Sylvia Browne page saying: "The words "Obama" and "re-elected" don't even appear anywhere on that page."

The first time I thought it was an error. The second time, I'm wondering if you lying about either looking at the article or undertanding it.

While it may be "commonly done" for an article to claim that a person is "known for" or "best known for"; without a source stating that the person is "known for" or "best known for", it is WP:OR and not allowed by policy. An actors appearance in a movie can verify that the actor appeared in the movie. But that is all it can verify. and that is what my phrasing does. An actors appearance in the movies most assuredly cannot verify that the person is "known" for that role. and no, I do not plan on setting on a quest to remove the 60,000 improper articles, but i will fix any articles that make such unsupported claims when I come across them. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 04:08, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

There is a GREAT difference between saying "He appeared in X" and "He is known for his role in X".
Ian McKellen appeared in Lady Grey London, but to state that "Ian McKellenis known for his appearance in Lady Grey London." is not a claim that is verifiable solely by his appearance in that production. In fact such a claim would be a complete fallacy, despite the fact that McKellen is certainly in Lady Grey London [16] . Without a third party reliable source making the claim that a person is "known for" a role, such claims should not be in Wikipedia articles and cannot be restored without a source that supports the claim. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 17:30, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

I spotted this discussion, and, while I agree with you that the phrasing is common, I'm going to take RPoD's side that it actually is a WP:OR violation, especially in the variation "best known for ...". Simply saying that the person "appeared" in the works in question is infinitely preferable. There's no judgement being made about impact or notability. I don't think the issue has ever come up. It certainly represents the letter and spirit of WP:OR, so I would never revert an editor that changed "known for" to "appeared in". It's one of those stylistic quirks that got copied from some of our early articles until it took root as a part of the common Wikipedia style. The phrasing has never bothered me enough to go for an RFC on the topic, but I'd be willing to bet that the community could be persuaded to see it as a WP:OR violation. Technically, it's a WP:BLP violation, so any editor that makes that change has a pretty good foundation for claiming that he is free to ignore consensus based on the overwhelming power that screaming "WP:BLP!" always lends to what should be a routine editorial decision.—Kww(talk) 21:30, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Re: Iron Man's armor

The term "arc reactor" has not been used in the comics, yet. But has the same functions (generator of repulsor energy) and design of the one from the movie, also, Stark no longer possesses the Extremis virus in his body, he lost it during Secret Invasion. How else can people know his different plots if some of the television shows he was in doesn't have a character page? Also, "Updating history" and Updating media appearance" were my common Edit Summary comments outside of "Creating new page" and "Do you have proof of the information I just removed." Outside of that, the Wikias already have their common drop-down details which can be chosen to go with the submitted info.
