From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The last six months of this talk page and its discussions was archived to Archive 33 on January 1, 2024.
As of December 17, 2022, this account was renamed from "Mrschimpf" to "MrSchimpf", if you're wondering about any redirection.

  • I will try to fix any image problems as soon as possible if a bot/editor leaves me a notice about an image and then revert the bot/editor's edit to acknowledge it as resolved. I like to keep things neat and focused on discussions, not line after line of image problems to take care of.
  • I've been here 18–19 years. I know most policies. If you use a template to warn me (and especially if you're only here to pick fights or vandalize), it's usually going to get removed unless I was clearly in the wrong. Elaborate on your reversion reason beyond the template. I try to do the same on my talk page comments, so the same common courtesy should be extended here.
    • For transparency, that is all that I remove from my talk page completely outside of vandalism. Everything is archived as appropriate every six months, usually on or around January 1 and July 1; before you claim I deleted your message (unless you're a vandal), check the latest archive.
  • I do carry rollback privileges, so if you need any help and I'm on, you can ask me here. However, note I will not get into edit wars and only use rollback for basic vandalism repair.
  • I do carry file moving privileges, so if you accidentally upload a logo or picture as "EJNEDC_128929_21.jpg", feel free to ask me to name it to something a bit more logical.
  • I also work on the conversation style of 'response on your talk page, then your response on my talk page, then I'll respond there', etc. Just because pings are 50/50 among the community and that threading is a lot easier to follow.
  • Please, if you can, try to list template notices under one heading for my convenience, rather than template after template if there are multiple notices. It makes acknowledgement much easier.
  • No profanity please. You can make a point just as easily without laying down an F-bomb here (or as some have done, homophobic slurs). I reserve the right to refactor your comment to remove profanity (but I will at least leave a link to it in the history for full disclosure); I don't like going to my talk page and having to skim through swear words over and over again.
  • If you're here to leave some kind of attack on my page because of a vandalism rollback, reversion or some other kind of finding, I'm not exactly quaking that you're going to 'hack' my page or that I'm whatever choice obscenity you'd like to call me; it's getting reverted by me or another patrolling editor anyways. Before you leave a message, ask yourself; is it worth the effort to add a strike on the way to a block?
  • Yes, I share my social media links here. But if I say to stop posting on my talk page because my patience has been exhausted with a topic and explaining our policies...that doesn't mean 'move it onto my social media'. I have no interest in reading your tract about how I'm completely wrong on my Twitter feed. Wikipedia communication is for communicating about topics here. When I say I'm done...I'm done. I will mute you or further on my social media if you just keep going. Further belaboring the point will just end up with me taking it to a higher authority here to deal with it.
  • Same with email. Only if it's something private or you have a feeling that yes, 'this is an email', should you do it. I prefer open transparency here unless there's no choice in the matter.
  • And please post in chronological order, on the bottom or by using the 'add heading' link. It's not that hard, it's common talk page etiquette and custom, and keeps things clean.

RT page edit

[edit]

will try to figure out how to add the Wired article link. yes, i did want to include but couldn't figure it out. will make another attempt at that. HarlowDiego (talk) 03:03, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

is there an example? i have looked for them within the RT page. perhaps using the visual editor is easier? HarlowDiego (talk) 03:04, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
i have submitted a corrected change and it does include a link to the WIRED article. Should the WIRED article be documented in the REFERENCES section? HarlowDiego (talk) 16:37, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please fix your signature

[edit]

Your signature says "Nate", however, your username is MrSchimpf (this confused me once in regards to my AFD). Per the signature rules, your signature name can be similar but not very different. "Nate" is not similar to MrSchimpf. So I could show "Techie" or "TTechie" but not "Foo123". I would suggest making it Nate (MrSchimpf) if you want your real name. Weird Request

[edit]

I saw on your user page you are from Sheboygan. Do you ever find yourself in Green Bay? I ask because I was working on Packers Heritage Trail and recently went to Green Bay for the tour of Lambeau Field, etc, but I was going to try to get photos of each site. However the day I was there is poured on and off and I missed out on many of the sites. I asked on a few WikiProjects if anyone was near the area and willing to grab some photos if they ever found themselves in Green Bay, but didn't get much response. Any chance you'd find yourself in Green Bay and willing to take some photos? No worries either way, obviously, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask! « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 21:47, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just checking in to see if you were able to head on up to Green Bay. Hope all is well! « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 15:02, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:10, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
