Question concerning YouTube videos of newscasts posted by copyright holders
Is it OK to use as a citation a link to a YouTube video of a newscast that was posted by the entity that created that newscast and owns the copyright to that newscast?

A cup of coffee for you!
I hope you're doing fine despite receiving such a legal threat. Keep up your good contributions! MrClog (talk) 19:54, 24 July 2019 (UTC) |
- I agree, Mrschimpf, WMF has a strong policy about not providing user information in the face of legal threats like this unless they come from the government which is not a possibility in this case. This was merely an IP, who coincidentally comes from the same city as the network is based, trying to intimidate editors who are preserving objectivity in an article on the network. Good work! Evine name change
We should not react so quickly to a name-change announcement. We need to first edit the article to note the new name, citing an independent source, not just the press release. Then when there's enough evidence that the new name has been taken up by independent sources, we can do the move. This typically needs weeks or months, but maybe it will be quickly for a TV channel. How to revert using popups
How can you revert with the saying "Revert to the revision prior to revision 896010789 dated 2019-05-07 21:57:53 by Mvcg66b3r using popups"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CentralTime301 (talk • contribs)
Re: reversion on KYW-TV article and your comments on my user talk page
On my user talk page, you said: "Honestly was going with the same thing;" but I don't get the sense of what you are saying -- are you saying you would also have reverted my edits (on the KYW-TV page), or are you saying you were thinking about editing the page to say something similar to what I said. (Or maybe, in fact, you are the person that added the (new) blurb about the repack on that page, which I've now put in a separate section (2.3)?)
Aside: I now have an anticipated completion date for getting KYW-TV back to full power on a "permanent" transmitter and antenna (and tower) which I have been told (by the engineer at the station) is 1st quarter, 2020 (which is not really a date but a range of dates). I want to add that date to the blurb -- to me, the engineer at the station is a reliable source. But, if not, I guess I have to re-evaluate my use of Wikipedia (not for editing, but as a reference).
Have a good day!

Thanks for your response (on my user talk page). (It is a little strange for me to write here, and you to write there, but, it is what it is. ;-) Have a good day!

WMWK
WMWK has always been an owned and operated affiliate of Family Radio. It has never been the originator of any of its own programming. As such, I do not see how the station would meet WP:BROADCAST. I do plan to add ERP and HAAT to Family Radio's article, so very little information would be lost if its redirected to the network's article.--Tdl1060 (talk) 21:37, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- I added power, ERP, and HAAT for the individual stations to Family Radio's article.--Tdl1060 (talk) 01:13, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

Freeform (TV channel)
Hello Mrschimpf. User:Bankster has reverted my good edit into User:Bankster's version with the "Pay television" phrase again without an explanation and the edit is misleading. In the Freeform (TV channel), I change to the cable television with my good edit and Bankster revert my good edit and giving me a warning message no. 2. I am 100% positive my edit is good. So could you talk to User:Bankster to stop reverting to pay television because the article is misleading. So you review all American cable channel articles with the misleading "pay television" phrase and change it to "cable television channel". I hope all American articles with the cable television channel phrase is solved. I will be happy to help you. Thanks. 2001:569:7C07:2600:44E7:2C9E:2E87:C408 (talk) 10:00, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
Defunct Canadian television channels
Thanks for removing the carriage list on Cosmopolitan TV (Canadian TV channel) and IFC (Canadian TV channel). The following defunct Canadian television channels already still has the carriage list. The defunct channels are Action (Canadian TV channel), BBC Kids, Discovery Kids (Canadian TV channel), Teletoon Retro (English) and Télétoon Rétro (French) already has a carriage list of providers and channel positions you forgot to remove them after these channels already went off the air. Could you do that please? Thanks. Also Could you talk to User:E78999 to never restore the carriage list after the channels cease broadcasting. I will be happy to assist you. Reply me back as soon as possible. Thanks. 2001:569:7C07:2600:1562:6118:8514:72E3 (talk) 04:45, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
- Mrschimpf, you are taking to the wrong user you talk to User:TheBlackKitty. It was User:E789999 has restored the carriage list not User:TheBlackKitty. So talk to User:E789999 to do not restore the carriage list on a defunct television channel. So talk to User:E78999 right now and warn the user do not restore the carriage list. Thanks for solving hoever revert the edits. I will be happy to assist you. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:569:7C07:2600:1562:6118:8514:72E3 (talk) 05:29, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
I didn't mean to make that mistake - I thought that the channels should have still been listed since this article is about the channel's history. Providers don't need to be listed if the channel is now defunct. Thanks for telling me. TheBlackKitty (talk) 14:58, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
- No problem @TheBlackKitty:...just wanted to make you aware. Nate • (chatter) 23:07, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
TBN DTV reverting
I had to revert your edit again Mrschimpf, because TBN DTV and text have SD simulcasts of the main TBN subchannel on DT5. CentralTime301 (talk, contribs) 15:27, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Mrschimpf: @CentralTime301: I have reverted CT301's revert because it was unsourced. I have also put in a request to protect the two templates indefinitely until a reliable source is found. Mvcg66b3r (talk) 18:30, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
User:Bankster wants to unblock by request
Hello ViperSnake151, User:Bankster wants to unblock by the user's request. Remember the "pay television" controversy? Could you talk to User:Bankster for the user's request to be unblocked? Talk to User:Bankster to promise the user is to never put "pay television" on Canadian and American channels and tell Bankster to promise to never edit war the good edits. Everyone has the right to edit on any cable channel articles whether its Canadian or American. Please talk to User:Bankster on the promise not to edit war and do not put "pay television" right now. Thank You. 2001:569:7C07:2600:E197:2A4:F9A3:12E1 (talk) 23:31, 14 October 2019 (UTC)
WBKB-TV
Why did you have to revert it on WBKB-TV? 107.77.169.5 originally intended to remodify it like most TV station articles in Wikipedia CentralTime301 (talk, contribs) 22:16, 18 October 2019 (UTC)

The reason I did those AFDs on the TV stations are because they don't meet WP:GNG and WP:BROADCAST. CentralTime301 (talk, contribs) 01:28, 3 November 2019 (UTC)
Final warning on AFD's?
Why did you have to add a final warning on me for just a simple AFD? What's the actual worst that could happen? I will soon discontinue AFDs from my Twinkle gadget in my account. Cheers! CentralTime301 03:08, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

Viacom Media Networks
I’ve had to revert 2 moves to "ViacomCBS Domestic Media Networks" now. There hasn’t been a source on the website for the alleged name change that I’ve determined could be reliable. One source listed for the "new name" has been TechCrunch, of which I’m unable to verify it’s reliability as it doesn’t pop up on here that much. And there still hasn’t been any proper talk page discussion about discussing the "change". Should I request move protection? HurricaneGeek2002 talk 14:21, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
Your Sig
Hey Nate. I noticed on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of broadcasters for Green Bay Packers home games in Milwaukee that your signature doesn't have any noticeable connection to your user name. This can be an issue for newcomers (and oldies like me), since it can be difficult to initially tell who commented on a discussion (see WP:SIGPROB for more on that). In the AFD, BornonJune8 tagged you in the discussion; it actually took me a few minutes to figure out that the signature "Nate" = the user "Mrschimpf". If there is some way you could change your sig to match your user name in some way, it would be appreciated. Cheers, « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 14:47, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

There are seven Wisconsin counties in the Minneapolis–St. Paul market. MSP stations are received over the air and carried on cable and satellite in those seven counties, so the MSP stations should be included in the Wisconsin TV template. Also, Ramsey County (home to St. Paul) is right next to Washington County, which borders Wisconsin. Mvcg66b3r (talk) 03:20, 19 December 2019 (UTC)
