I totally forgot I had done anything on this episode; it passed GA years ago, but to my eyes looks like it only really needs a solid push to finish off the reception and release section and it's good to go for FAC, if you're interested in helping. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 19:12, 12 August 2016 (UTC)
- No problem. I'll go through the extra couple of TNG sources I have here as well in case there's anything more I can add (although it's clear that the Making of book is the best available source for this, and you've used that already). Miyagawa (talk) 20:37, 12 August 2016 (UTC)
- One thing that jumps to mind that will have happened after the GA is that Star Trek Online has a sequel level to "Yesterday's Enterprise". The Enterprise-C travels back in time to the wrong time period and ends up changing history so that the Tholians are the dominate force in the quadrant. The player then has to assist Yar in taking the ship back and send it back to the right period. Crosby returned to voice the character, which had some coverage at the time so there should be sources out there. Miyagawa (talk) 20:41, 12 August 2016 (UTC)
- @David Fuchs: Just looking at the article now. Any objection if I overhaul the citation format to switch it to Harv? Miyagawa (talk) 09:16, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
- If you want that's fine. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 13:47, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
- I just noticed something odd. The source I use for ratings [1] gives a different Nielsen rating than what is already in the article. Miyagawa (talk) 18:31, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
- We could include both, I suppose. They're both reporting on the Nielsen ratings so unless there's an actual bonified source we can pull from it's two different sources of pretty much equal worthiness disagreeing. Anything else remaining to add from any sources you've found? Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs(talk) 17:34, 18 September 2016 (UTC)

Help with Captains' Logs Supplemental: The Unauthorized Guide to the New Trek Voyages
Hello. I was wondering if you owned a physical copy of Captains' Logs Supplemental: The Unauthorized Guide to the New Trek Voyages. I am currently working on making an article for Janeway Lambda one in my sandbox here. It is still in the very early phases, but I was really fascinated by this storyline and wanted to try writing an article about it. I would like to quote some materials about the episode "Persistence of Vision" and Taylor's comments about the holonovel, but I cannot access the book without buying a physical copy as an electronic copy is not available anywhere unfortunately.
If you do own it, I was wondering if you could provide me with the page numbers for the following sections so I could properly format the references: 1) the part which discusses how "Persistence of Vision" was rejected from being an episode in the first season, and 2) the negative reaction to the holonovel and Taylor's comments about a resolution and its removal from the show. I apologize for the inconvenience. I hope you are having a wonderful day. Aoba47 (talk) 16:08, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Aoba47: Unfortunately I don't have a copy, I've only got the original Captains' Logs. I would offer A Vision of the Future, but I see you've already used that. Miyagawa (talk) 16:11, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
- No worries. I think I will buy it as I would be interested in reading it for research for this article and my own personal enjoyment. Thank you for your quick response :-) Aoba47 (talk) 16:14, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
- Cool. I've only put off buying it because I have a nasty habit of buying books (Star Trek: Action! is a good example) and then not getting around to using them for years. You might also want to take a look at Delta Quadrant - [2], which is unofficial guide to the first few years of Voyager. I thought I made a break through with an old archive.org version of the Star Trek Continuum website a couple of days ago, but all I managed to track down was an index list to articles on production information for mid to late Voyager - buy annoyingly the individual articles themselves weren't archived. Miyagawa (talk) 16:21, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for the suggestion! I will definitely look into it as well. I have the same habit, so I know exactly how you feel lol. Once I get either book, feel free to ask me page numbers or information if you need anything for future expansions. Archives are an amazing resource, but they can be extremely annoying, so I know that feeling all too well unfortunately >< lol. Aoba47 (talk) 16:34, 16 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed you had made substantial edits to the Development section of Spock. I wanted to notify you that there is a separate Development of Spock article that would benefit from your knowledge :). Pyrusca (talk) 15:10, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Pyrusca: I also wrote that one! :) I was trying to abbreviate the Development of Spock article into the Development section within the Spock article to make it a proper spin-out. There was several things in the old version of the Development section that I'd found to be really inaccurate during the creation of the specific article. Miyagawa (talk) 15:11, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
- Ah HAHA. I guess I should have checked the "Page information". I love Spock. :/ Excellent writing. Pyrusca (talk) 15:15, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Spock, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Christopher Pike and Sean Kenney. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

About Game of Thrones: Season 6 Episodes
Hello. I just wanted to ask you if you have time could you look at(review) some of the episode from Game of Thrones (season 6) that are up for a Good Article nomination, they have been up for a nomination for a while now. The last two episodes. (Battle of the Bastards and The Winds of Winter (Game of Thrones)) are pretty much perfectly written and should be no problem to get to GA right away. -- AffeL (talk) 14:11, 19 August 2016
- No worries, I've just put the review up for BotB (not many problems at all) and I've just grabbed TWoW, which I'll get to either today or tomorrow. Miyagawa (talk) 14:40, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
- Hello. I wonder if you have time. If you could look at the Battle of the Bastards article again. I am trying to get it to a "Featured Article". I have nominated it and I would appreciate it if you do a review or something, I don't know how it(FA) works. (Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Battle of the Bastards/archive1) -- AffeL (talk) 18:17, 22 August 2016
- I think you'd be better off nominating it at WP:Peer Review first. That way you can get the majority of comments out of the way before the FA nomination. Miyagawa (talk) 16:22, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks. I did just that. Another thing man, sorry to bother you again.. but the I have nominated the Game of Thrones article for GA. I have worked hard to get this to a Good Article statues, and I have a feeling that the article is just gonna sit there for a while until some one finally reviews it. I know that it's a big article to review. You don't need to do it if you don't have the time. But If you can, you don't need to review right away.. No rush. My goal is that one day it will be a "Featured Article" -- AffeL (talk) 19:32, 22 August 2016

Don't Forget
When you began editing "City on the Edge of Forever" it was evident that you had not even bothered to watch the episode and based all your edits from what you read in books. That is apparent. And that information was wrong and needed correcting. I advise you to at least watch episodes if you want to edit information about them. Dickie birdie (talk) 19:41, 21 August 2016 (UTC)

- No problem. Already had a read through, and I don't think there's anything major that needs to change. It'll all be nit picks and formatting, I'm sure. Miyagawa (talk) 10:48, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Sounds good. As you'll appreciate, it was a very controversial match at the time. Don't worry if you need to fail it: I won't fling my shirt off and sulk . All the best. BoJó | talk UTC 12:52, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
Hello again, Miyagawa, and thank you very much for the review and all your help. I'm pleased that it has passed and your good advice will certainly be useful when I develop another article. The one I'm thinking of is 1974 FA Cup Final which is only a stub. Thank you again and all the very best. BoJó | talk UTC 10:37, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- I just received the DYK invitation and I think that just has to be the guy in Harrow who tried to take out summonses against Bremner and Keegan. I'll enter that and see how it goes. All the best. BoJó | talk UTC 10:48, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- That'd be where I'd go with that. You might want to sign up for an account at Wikipedia:BNA to get access to the British Newspaper Archive. Then you'll have a host of stuff (including the match reports) to use for expansion on finals etc. Miyagawa (talk) 10:55, 23 August 2016 (UTC)

Question about Source Reliability
Hey, I was wondering if www.trektoday.com is considered a reliable source or not? I believe that it is not reliable, but I just wanted to double-check as I found some information about the guest actress for the holonovel article. Thank you for your help as always! Aoba47 (talk) 04:57, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Aoba47: I would say that it is actually reliable. It's the news hub for TrekNation, which in itself has a long link with the official Star Trek website and is affiliated with UGO Networks. Until recently, it was one of only four fan websites linked to from the official site, alongside TrekMovie.com, TrekWeb.com and actually I forget the fourth off the top of my head. But going back even further, around 2004-7ish, TrekToday/Nation stories were actually promoted on the official website. I've certainly used them as sources for GA's, and I've got a review from TrekNation in one FA and the ratings for DS9 in another. So I'd say go for it. Miyagawa (talk) 10:49, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
- Awesome! I will definitely use an article from the website then, as it is very helpful to the page. Thank you for your response. Aoba47 (talk) 15:40, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
Hi, if you can flesh out a few stubs or something towards this and add entries at the bottom they'd be very welcome!♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:03, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
Hi there. I've started a new initiative, the Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. It's a long term goal to bring about 10,000 article improvements to the UK and Ireland. Through two contests involving just six or seven weeks of editing so far we've produced over 1500 improvements. Long term if we have more people chipping it and adding articles they've edited independently as well from all areas of the UK then reaching that target is all possible. I think it would be an amazing achievement to see 10,000 articles improvement by editors chipping in. If you support this and think you might want to contribute towards this long term please sign up in the Contributors section. No obligations, just post work on anything you feel like whenever you want, though try to avoid basic stubs if possible as we're trying to reduce the overall stub count and improve general comprehension and quality. Thanks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:09, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

Confused by your reverting me putting all the references under references... Red Rose 13 (talk) 20:48, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
- The article is using a dual references system. The main citations (including the harvard citations for the books) were under the notes section. Then the actual book details were under the references section. It's pretty normal. But there's no need to repeat the web citations in both sections. Miyagawa (talk) 20:52, 5 September 2016 (UTC)

About Game of Thrones: Season 6 Episodes Again
Hello Miyagawa. I just wanted to ask you again if you have time could you look at(review) some of the episode from Game of Thrones (season 6) that are up for a Good Article nomination, as you know they have been up for a nomination for a while now.
The episodes left are:
- Oathbreaker (Game of Thrones)
- Blood of My Blood
- The Broken Man
- No One (Game of Thrones)
- Home (Game of Thrones)
- Book of the Stranger
Thanks in advance. AffeL (talk) 14:13, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

GA Cup Announcement
Greetings, all! We would like to announce the start of the 4th GA Cup, a competition that seeks to encourage the reviewing of Good article nominations! Thus far, there have been three GA Cups, which were successful in reaching our goals of significantly reducing the traditionally long queue at GAN, so we're doing it again. Currently, there are over 400 nominations listed. We hope that we can again make an impact this time. The 4th GA Cup will begin on November 1, 2016. Four rounds are currently scheduled (which will bring the competition to a close on February 28, 2017), but this may change based on participant numbers. We may take a break in December for the holidays, depending on the results of a poll of our participants taken shortly after the competition begins. The sign-up and submissions process will remain the same, as will the scoring. Sign-ups for the upcoming competition are currently open and will close on October 31, 2016. Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors, so sign-up now! If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the judges. Cheers from 3family6, Figureskatingfan, Jaguar, MrWooHoo, and Zwerg Nase. To subscribe or unsubscribe to future GA Cup newsletters, please add or remove your name to our mailing list. If you are a participant, you will be on the mailing list no matter what as this is the easiest way to communicate between all participants.

Africa Destubathon
You'll be pleased to know that the grants have all been approved, there's $2385, about £1945 going into this. Though it's intended Amazon vouchers where contestants earn over £80 I would be happy to make the reward a British Library subscription etc. If you and anybody else really want that more than the Amazon vouchers and it's going to benefit wikipedia I can arrange that but I'll need your help on arranging it and contributing towards getting them haha!♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:12, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
Having some more input offwiki and hearing about international editors who might prefer JSTOR access than Amazon vouchers, I've tweaked the prize winning to include subscriptions to British Library, JSTOR and anything else. But enough has to be earned to cover the subscription cost or strongly go towards it in the contest to earn that of course. So here's you chance to get that wanted subscription!♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:08, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

- Thanks, will do. Hadn't planned on expanding it but came across the story while working on the first Somalian Olympic article I did and it was just so sad that I felt it needed an expansion and tidy. Miyagawa (talk) 15:51, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Can you remember to update the articles on the main page at the bottom and update your entries with GA icons and GA count in total there? It's veyr time consuming running this, so if you could always add you own entries to the main list too and keep a record of the GAs there it's one less thing to worry about!♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:01, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
- Will do from now on. Miyagawa (talk) 20:22, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

Africa Destubathon
Hi, thanks for your work so far! Can you do me a favour though and always add every entry you do to the main list here as well as the entries page, regardless if yet approved or not as that's the master list of all articles being done. It's just veyr time consuming for me to be judging the articles, trying to contribute myself and chasing up what people have done and filling it out for people each time. So if you can take care of that this would be a great help, there's some part filled out ones underneath so you just need to add country, article name and then you username. Hi, can you get somebody to correct it to "almost $2400", there's a lot more than $1500 in funding on this! The max to win is $1800 odd, but multiple people will win a share in about $2380.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:03, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

Miyagawa, this community GA reassessment is still open and still hanging around, but there have been major improvements to the article in the interim. I just struck my original "delist", posted shortly after yours back in March, and replaced it with a "keep". I was wondering whether you'd be interested in taking another look at whether it meets the GA criteria. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 07:04, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

DYK for The Restaurant Marco Pierre White
On 28 October 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Restaurant Marco Pierre White, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in 1995, the eponymous chef of The Restaurant Marco Pierre White became the youngest to win three Michelin stars? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Restaurant Marco Pierre White. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, The Restaurant Marco Pierre White), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

WikiProject Good Articles's 2016-2017 GA Cup
Sign-ups for the upcoming competition are currently open and will close on November 14, 2016. Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors, so sign-up now! If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the judges. Cheers from 3family6, Figureskatingfan, Jaguar, MrWooHoo, and Zwerg Nase. We apologize for the delay in sending out this message until after the competition has started. Thank you to Krishna Chaitanya Velaga for aiding in getting this message out. To subscribe or unsubscribe to future GA Cup newsletters, please add or remove your name to our mailing list. If you are a participant, you will be on the mailing list no matter what as this is the easiest way to communicate between all participants.

Please be careful when adding information to biographical articles. I had to revert [3] this edit as it is false. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 19:56, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
- Well I can only add information that is in the sources. In that case, there is no question that the source is reliable, so I wouldn't double check every claim made in a reliable source. Miyagawa (talk) 20:18, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

- You might need to do a Quintruple GA scorer this weekend as Sturmvogel has done two now and looks on to win the top GA prize!♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:38, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
- Sturm's got it in the bag probably. I'm just happy that my initially big GA numbers inspired someone else to come along and beat it. I've got two goals for the weekend - I've got two more countries to go before I've worked up an article for at least one each, and then I'm going to try to do as many articles as possible to ensure that the target goal is reached. Miyagawa (talk) 18:11, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
- Well, there's $50 for second anyway. You've certainly done some excellent work for this, and more motivated than you were even for Dragon throughout. If the Quintruple GA mechanism meant that it made one editor tackle a few on that main core list, then it had a good purpose after all, for a while there I didn't think anybody would do one, not that any articles promoted to GA isn't good! The GA thing was just a side dish on this, at some point you could probably run a core contest for Africa using those lists, but this served its purpose well!♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:08, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
- @Dthomsen8: @Dr. Blofeld: I just wanted to say thanks to you both, I received the book in the post today. I'll be sure to use it as intended - to make sure that every single listing has a Wiki page wherever possible. Miyagawa (talk) 17:07, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

Hello ! I published a brand new fresh barnstar on your barnstar page :) Thank you ! Anthere (talk)
Well done! Dthomsen can hopefully sort out giving you the $200 (about $160), from that it would be easier to get your subscription, you might want $200 cash for that to go towards it. When I get the money from WMF I'll get you $175 in Amazon vouchers, about £140, or if you prefer I can use some of it to buy you some books using it to be delivered to your door for future articles, so in total you've got around £300 on this. DYK
Now that the African Destubathon and Asian Month are over, normal activities can be resumed! I haven't submitted many DYKs recently because the destubs I did for the Africa contest often would not have qualified and sometimes lacked polish, and anyway there was little time to submit the nominations and do QPQs. I enjoyed taking part in the contest.
I saw your comment on one DYK nomination template, later struck out, that you were put off building prep sets because of the excessive criticism on the DYK discussion page. I think you will find that these criticisms have largely died down. Anyway, it would be very helpful if you could build a prep set or two, because I have been doing this job largely unassisted, and cannot promote most of the oldest approved nominations because I reviewed the hooks myself or some such reason. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:53, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- Glad to hear the issues there have died off a bit. Despite quite a few of the articles I worked up on the destubathon qualifying for DYK purposes, I didn't nominate any of them because it simply wasn't worth the hassle. I'll take a look at the prep sets, as I always enjoyed putting them together before. Miyagawa (talk) 11:19, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
- And yet, two sets created and a hook from each pulled on each occasion. I'll persevere - at least for the time being there isn't the attempt at public shaming or finger pointing as there has been in the past. Miyagawa (talk) 17:19, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry if I misled you. Things have been quiet for several weeks until today's episode. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:14, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

4th Annual GA Cup - Round 1
Greetings, GA Cup competitors! November 28, 2016 was supposed to mark the end of the first round. However, we needed 16 competitors to move on, and currently only 10 have completed articles. Thus, the judges have come together to let the participants decide what we shall do. Please complete this quick survey to let us know whether you would like a holiday break. There will be two options for what we will do next in terms of Round 2 depending on the results of this poll.
We apologize for sending out this newsletter late. Cheers from 3family6, Figureskatingfan, Jaguar, MrWooHoo, and Zwerg Nase! To subscribe or unsubscribe to future GA Cup newsletters, please add or remove your name to our mailing list. If you are a participant, you will be on the mailing list no matter what as this is the easiest way to communicate between all participants.

WikiCup December newsletter: WikiCup 2017
On 1 January 2017, WikiCup 2017 (the 10th Annual WikiCup) will begin. This year we are trying something a little different – monetary prizes.
For the WC2017 the prizes will be as follows (amounts are based in US$ and will be awarded in the form of an online Amazon gift certificate):
- First place – $200
- Second & Third place – $50 each
- Category prizes – $25 per category (which will be limited to FA, FL, FP, GA, and DYK for 2017). Winning a category prize does not require making it to the final round.
Note: Monetary prizes are a one-year experiment for 2017 and may or may not be continued in the future. In order to be eligible to receive any of the prizes above, the competing Wikipedia account must have a valid/active email address.
After two years as a WikiCup judge, Figureskatingfan is stepping down. We thank her for her contributions as a WikiCup judge. We are pleased to announce that our newest judge is two-time WikiCup champion Cwmhiraeth.
The judges for the 2017 WikiCup are Godot13 (talk · contribs · email), Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), and Sturmvogel 66 (talk · contribs · email).
Signups are open now and will remain open until 5 February 2017. You can sign up here.

The WikiCup
I have just become a WikiCup judge, a role you used to have, I remember. Last year the WikiCup had fewer entries than previously and I asked Dr. Blofeld how one went about getting a banner advertising an editor event on each editor's page. He replied "The central notice banner has to be proposed on meta wiki I think. Ask Casliber or Miyagawa if you want the WikiCup publicized like that". So, can you give me any information on how it is done? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:51, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth: I've previously used the Watchlist banner notices (I did this for the Cup back in 2014 and it seemed to work quite well). It's fairly simple - request a message at MediaWiki talk:Watchlist-details. Here's the diff for when I added a request for the Africa Destubathon [4]. Miyagawa (talk) 11:20, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you. I should think a banner message for a week or two after Christmas would increase participation in the Cup. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:36, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- It was quite effective back in 2014. I'd suggest you start with a request to run it through the sign up period and see what they come back with. My only warning, is that you will get a lot of inexperienced editors, especially if you mention the money element, so this did create quite the workload in the first couple of rounds for checking. Miyagawa (talk) 12:11, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
