Development of Spock
[edit]- ... that during the development of Spock, both DeForest Kelley and Martin Landau were offered the role before Leonard Nimoy (pictured)?
- ALT1:... that during the early development of Spock, Leonard Nimoy (pictured) was concerned the fake ears made him look like an "overgrown jackrabbit"?
- ALT2:... that early in the development of Spock (Leonard Nimoy pictured), the character was half-Martian, but this was changed due to concerns that a Mars landing could take place?

- Comment: For the Star Trek 50th Anniversary on September 8th. This article has a bit of a history - it was moved to mainspace just over a week ago but was speedily deleted the same day. This has since been overturned and moved back to mainspace.

- - Miyagawa "Fascinating...." Really. I started to read it to review here, but it needs work first. As noted by the edit history, I started to correct what I believe to be minor errors, but there are many. I only got as far as the end of the section "Where No Man Has Gone Before" and the first season. The errors I did not correct, as far as I got, were:
- "Actors who read for the part included Victor Lundin, and both Rex Holman and Miguelito Loveless were considered." - Miguelito Loveless was a fictional character on The Wild Wild West.
- "were concerned that views would not wish to associate with an alien character" - Did you mean "viewers"?
- "He had partially convinced that it would have been preferable to have perminent plastic surgery" - Convinced whom? Also, typo therein.
- I would be more than happy to complete the review on this Fascinating article, but I would like you to first go back through this and copyedit what needs to be corrected. Also, I ran the Earwig tool, and it came up with a high rate of copyvio. The first three I checked were a "false positive" in that what it flagged as a copyvio were actually quotes. I haven't checked the others on the Earwig results. Please go back through the article and see what needs to be fixed. I really love that you wrote this, and hope you work it up to FAC. When you're done, ping me and I'll come back and finish the review. — Maile (talk) 21:06, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Maile66: Thank you for the kind words. The Loveless thing is what I get for not watching The Wild Wild West and failing to recognise the difference between the name of the actor and the character in the source. Needless to say, I've swapped them over now. I've gone through and conducted a further copyedit on the article. I recognise that there are still gaps - I can spot that I haven't mentioned mind melds, or the Vulcan nerve pinch yet, nor anything on The Animated Series. I'm probably not going to try for GAN until after the anniversary yet, but I ran forward with this as I figured it'd create the possibility of a Spock image on the front page for the anniversary itself through DYK.
