Welcome to the eleventh Bugle edition of 2016!

As always, last month's featured and A-class promotions can be found in our article news section, and Hawkeye7 discusses the precarious state of America's nuclear arsenal at the onset of the Cold War in our regular book review section. Hawkeye also gives us the lowdown on his immense effort to create a comprehensive suite of good, A-class and featured articles on the people, technology and facilities associated with the Manhatten Project in World War II in our semi-regular review essay section. Meanwhile, TomStar81 provides a summary of the key events around the world during this month a hundred years ago in his ongoing World War I timeline, and also looks at changing political and military leadership among the belligerents in this month's op-ed.

Speaking of A-class articles, the Bugle would like to congratulate Krishna Chaitanya Velaga on his first A-Class medal!

In other news, nominations for the Military Historian and Military History Newcomer of the Year awards opened on December 4 and will run through December 17; voting for the nominees will begin December 18. All members of the Military history WikiProject are encouraged to nominate editors they feel to be worthy of the award. The winners will be awarded with their barnstars on January 1, 2017.

Finally, the long-running monthly article-writing contest continues to be well-patronised, attracting fourteen participants last month, the largest field in several years. New blood is always welcome!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all our readers!

Your editors, Ian Rose (talk) and Nick-D (talk)
