Discussion on Republic of Pirates
Recently, you have made several edits to the Republic of Pirates page. Instead of a back-and-forth, I've set up a discussion topic on that page's talk page and I welcome you to add your argument to the discussion on the inclusion of the Jolly Roger in the Infobox. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Neo-völkisch movements into Fundamentalism. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Your draft article, Draft:Yume Nikki: Dream Diary

code.
If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. -- JMHamo (talk) 09:38, 10 November 2018 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Lord Buckethead sitting in a chair.jpeg
Thank you for uploading File:Lord Buckethead sitting in a chair.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 02:46, 26 July 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Roland Barthes 1970s.jpg
A tag has been placed on File:Roland Barthes 1970s.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 03:29, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

Move
Your move of Untitled Mario film was rather inappropriate considering not only was there an ongoing move discussion regarding it, but there was also prior consensus to wait for them to announce the title in the Direct since "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" might just be a temporary title for them to use as a title for the Direct before they announce the actual title. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 19:33, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf: My apologies. Di (they-them) (talk) 19:38, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
- IT's alright. It's just slightly irritating as yes, the Direct may say it's "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" but that might just be because they don't have anything else to refer to it as before they actually reveal the title. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 19:40, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

Francisco Macías Nguema
Hello! Just to clarify: Assigning any kind of coherent ideology to Francisco Macías Nguema is, to put it mildly, problematic. He was 1) probably insane and 2) regularily changed his official stances. He called himself a "Hitlerian-Marxist" and claimed that Hiltler had intended to liberate Africa. To assume that he was fascist or even a Nazi, based on these extremely confused statements, cannot be made so easily (plus Nazism is a form of fascism, but not the same as fascism - if anything, based on the "Hitlerian" claim, he should be assigned to "African Nazis").
Regarding reliable sources: Some contemporary sources describe Macías as "fascist" in the assumption that he copied Franco's system, but newer (academic) works usually do not seem to construct this link. I found one journal article here which assigns the term "afro-fascism" to Macías government, though it is a literary study more concerned with the contemporary perceptions of the regime, not a political study explaining how exactly Macías was fascist. Based on this evidence, I do not think that listing Macías as a "fascist" is the correct choice. Applodion (talk) 10:55, 26 December 2022 (UTC)

January 2023
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Blue (Jurassic World). This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Flaky sources on Tom Bombadil
Hi, you're quite right, we can't have fragmentary sources sitting about indefinitely concealed inside a Good Article (and probably not in any other kind either). By the same token, we can't have unchecked, semi-broken materials sitting about in plain sight in an article that has been formally reviewed. If anybody had had the actual text to hand, they'd have known the page they were looking at; so the uncomfortable truth about such materials is that somebody was probably casting about for something to use as a "ref", and they decided that the book probably covered the topic, and even if they didn't know the page it would probably "do" for the time being, and anyway they were going to get on with something more interesting, and ... hey presto, we have a flaky, semi WP:OR source that might or might not prove anything if anybody were ever going to look it up, which they never did.
So, to cut the shaggy dog story short, I've cut the ref, and its associated claim. The article has good examples of adaptations of the character already, and doesn't need supplements which are improperly put together or checked. I do hope this is clear and seems reasonable to you as an approach: it is certainly in line with policy. I suppose I may as well confess that I brought the article through GA and omitted to delete the paragraph at the time as I should have done. I don't feel that I own the article (or any other), but I do want it to be "all shipshape and Bristol fashion", as people used to say. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 19:51, 24 March 2023 (UTC)

So first of all, User:Tataral (who uploaded the other photo you are ok with) agrees with me, that it should not be deleted, and also, I uploaded before they did (If that means anything). The mugshot of Donald Trump is a historic piece of work that should not be deleted simply off of a technicality. Rexxx7777 (talk) 01:46, 25 August 2023 (UTC)

2016 Donald Trump Las Vegas rally incident
I see that you were trying to place the article 2016 Donald Trump Las Vegas rally incident in an assassination-related category, which is quite an understandable instinct. However, as you'll see amply discussed on Talk:2016 Donald Trump Las Vegas rally incident in various ways, as well as at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Attempted assassination of Donald Trump (2nd nomination), there is a lot of concern over labeling this as such an attempt, particularly in regards to our policy on crime accusations against a living person. Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that your recent edit to Northern pudu did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.
The edit summary field looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
Please have a look also at the information at this page, which appears every time you edit J. K. Rowling. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:52, 3 April 2024 (UTC)

i removed the image of Frank's agent/owner, because that would seemingly mean every actor would likewise have a picture of their agent/management team, which i didn't think would be correct.
the agent/owner has more content in the article than does Frank, the actual star
plus, i was surprised Frank wasn't in the image, instead there's an unknown unidentified other-species actor.

Would getting a fair use picture for Peggy (dog) be beneficial?
I think a fair use argument can be made for a picture there. Would you be opposed to me trying that at the copyright noticeboard?
(Context: your reward request from March?) FortunateSons (talk) 11:06, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
- I think that we should avoid a fair use image, as Peggy is still alive and it’s certainly possible to create a CC image. Di (they-them) (talk) 15:05, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
- That’s true, but possible is not the same as probable. A commons picture is preferable, but I believe that a picture could be fair use, we can still delete it if we get a commons one later. FortunateSons (talk) 15:08, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
- Personally I think that goes against the point of fair use images. We use fair use images when there’s no feasible way to replace them, IE for copyrighted art or for photos of dead people who can’t get new photos taken. Di (they-them) (talk) 22:16, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
- I can definitely sympathise with that view. While I think a true fair use argument can be made regarding award-related pictures, which would be optimal for the article, it is definitely possible that a different fair use picture can become available in the future. Dexerto
Hello! I was hoping to discuss your revert of my edit to the Iron Lung (film) article. I'm admittedly not too familiar with Dexerto, but I see that it's a perennial source, and I definitely understand why we wouldn't use it for any contentious claims or notability based on the summary at WP:DEXERTO.
However, given that this is a case of them reporting something Mark says out loud in a video they directly link to in the article, I don't think a blanket "it's not reliable" is warranted for a source with no firm consensus. It's the only third-party source of that information at this point and that's valuable information to include. If they were writing "sources say editing is complete" then I'd have no opposition, but it's a quote.
I'd encourage you to reconsider here, as I find that this mindset can be counterintuitive when a source isn't a blatant fabrication machine, and especially when the source is quoting something easily verifiable. That said, I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on this, or if you have any ideas for alternatives so this info can be included! Sock (tock talk) 19:43, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
- I feel like it might be best to wait for a different source to report on the film’s progress, as I think that reporting will eventually come from a reliable source. However, if that does not happen, and Dexerto is the best that we will get, I won’t oppose re-adding it. Thanks, Di (they-them) (talk) 20:56, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
Methgator
You've manually restored the citation in Methgator. I suggest reading discussion over at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games/Sources/Archive 29#Bounding Into Comics and reconsidering your decision as Bounding into Comics was called into question for reasons that are not exclusive to video game topics, particularly regarding its lack of credentials. Its issues were also brought up in other pages.

Weird movies
You got some weird movie recommendations? Polygnotus (talk) 06:45, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Polygnotus: Bad CGI Gator is pretty fun, it's really funny and doesn't take itself too seriously which makes it really work as a comedy. Almost every single line of dialogue is funny IMO. It's on Tubi for free! Di (they-them) (talk) 18:02, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! I love gators, even when they are badly CGIed. Polygnotus (talk) 19:23, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
