The Deletion to Quality Award
For your contributions to bring The Signpost (Wikipedia) (prior candidate for deletion at: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Signpost (Wikipedia)) to Good Article status, I hereby present you The Deletion to Quality Award. Moveable Feast page moves

In the future, please avoid performing unilateral page moves without engaging in discussion.

Please enlist feedback from our Wikipedia community via our WP:REQMOVE standard procedures.

Especially if you realize -- by the 2nd time -- that it is possible the page move could fall under potentially controversial moves.

Thank you for reading above,

Cirt (talk) 20:19, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

The page you link to says this: "If you have no reason to expect a dispute concerning a move, be bold and move the page." If I had expected a dispute I would have discussed the matter. My recent moves seems uncontroversial. The principal meaning of the word "giraffe" is a certain animal with a long neck, and if there's also an organization called "Giraffe", one would expect the article title Giraffe to be about the animal and Giraffe (organization) to be about the organization. To have an article titled Giraffe (animal) would be unreasonable, to say the least. Michael Hardy (talk) 20:25, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
Perhaps the first time. But the second (2nd) time, you should have sought out discussion through the Wikipedia community. In the future, please do not communicate solely by edit summaries during your reverting process. Thank you, — Cirt (talk) 20:26, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
DIFF1 = 1 April 2016, and then again, with zero discussion the second time, in violation of WP:REQMOVE and WP:BRD at DIFF2 = 10 April 2016. — Cirt (talk) 20:32, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Moveable Feast (organization) listed at Requested moves

A requested move discussion has been initiated for Moveable Feast (organization) to be moved to Moveable Feast. Interested members of the Wikipedia community may want to participate in the discussion here.

Coverage of butterfly vibrators?

Hello, Cirt. There's an open AfD concerning Butterfly vibrator. I noticed that, in opposing a merge, you mentioned that there's significant coverage of the topic. I tried my best, but I couldn't find anything besides sales websites and the most incidental of mentions—nothing covering butterfly vibrators qua butterfly vibrators. Perhaps you can find something?  Rebbing  04:41, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

Gamaliel and others arbitration case opened

You recently offered a statement in a request for arbitration. The Arbitration Committee has accepted that request for arbitration and an arbitration case has been opened at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Gamaliel and others. The scope of this case is Gamaliel's recent actions (both administrative and otherwise), especially related to the Signpost April Fools Joke. The case will also examine the conduct of other editors who are directly involved in disputes with Gamaliel. The case is strictly intended to examine user conduct and alleged policy violations and will not examine broader topic areas. The clerks have been instructed to remove evidence which does not meet these requirements. The drafters will add additional parties as required during the case. Evidence that you wish the arbitrators to consider should be added to the evidence subpage, at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Gamaliel and others/Evidence.

Please add your evidence by May 2, 2016, which is when the evidence phase closes. You can also contribute to the case workshop subpage, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Gamaliel and others/Workshop. For a guide to the arbitration process, see Wikipedia:Arbitration/Guide to arbitration. This notification is being sent to those listed on the case notification list. If you do not wish to recieve further notifications, you are welcome to opt-out on that page. An arbitration case regarding Gamaliel and others has now closed and the final decision is viewable at the link above. The following remedies have been enacted:

  1. Gamaliel is admonished for multiple breaches of Wikipedia policies and guidelines including for disrupting Wikipedia to make a point, removing a speedy deletion notice from a page he created, casting aspersions, and perpetuating what other editors believed to be a BLP violation.
  2. DHeyward and Gamaliel are indefinitely prohibited from interacting with or discussing each other anywhere on Wikipedia, subject to the usual exemptions.
  3. DHeyward (talk · contribs) is admonished for engaging in incivility and personal attacks on other editors. He is reminded that all editors are expected to engage respectfully and civilly with each other and to avoid making personal attacks.
  4. For conduct which was below the standard expected of an administrator — namely making an incivil and inflammatory close summary on ANI, in which he perpetuated the perceived BLP violation and failed to adequately summarise the discussion — JzG is admonished.
  5. Arkon is reminded that edit warring, even if exempt, is rarely an alternative to discussing the dispute with involved editors, as suggested at WP:CLOSECHALLENGE.
  6. The community is encouraged to hold an RfC to supplement the existing WP:BLPTALK policy by developing further guidance on managing disputes about material involving living persons when that material appears outside of article space and is not directly related to article-content decisions.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Wisconsin Law Journal, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. You will probably remember this slight kerfuffle on Dank 's talkpage, 31 March 2016 over the TFA scheduling of the above article on 6 November. My final comment in that discussion reads: "I stress this is not a reservation, merely a reminder to me when I schedule November. Cirt should nominate at TFAR in the normal way, when nominations for that month are open." Unfortunately you didn't; as I made clear, it is not our policy to reserve dates far in advance. Meanwhile, another well-supported nomination has claimed the date, unaware of your prior request. The fairest thing to do, I think, is to schedule "From the Doctor" for 7th November, when the western hemisphere at least will have it as their TFA on a part of the 6th. Otherwise, if you would prefer a different date, please let me know quickly, as I am scheduling at the moment. Brianboulton (talk) 16:23, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Propose to reconsider article Peace Revolution, previously deleted

@Cirt, DGG, Whpq, Ron Ritzman, and Cybercobra: in the past 7 years the online platform Peace Revolution has become more notable, with scholarly articles about it and numerous occurrences in news sources. Propose to revive this page. If disambiguation issues may be relevant, I can address them in a disambiguation page, but there is currently no other page about any Peace Revolution subject.--S Khemadhammo (talk) 19:28, 25 September 2016 (UTC)

S Khemadhammo Looking at User:S Khemadhammo/Peace Revolution.I see exactly one reference. Checking it at Google Scholar, it has never been cited by anyone. If you have additional good sources, the appropriate procedure for a new article would be to move the draft when you have finished it into Draft Space7, and ask for a review. DGG ( talk ) 20:32, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
DGG, I didn't intend to propose this specific write-up, it is merely a draft. I will add more sources, as I have just started. Do you mean to say the article must first be written fully? Could notability first be established by submitting a list of secondary sources? I didn't intend to write this article all by myself, but asking for other people's input would be easier if some level of assurance could be provide in advance. I am not familiar with these procedures, as I have never done any new article which has been deleted before. Thanks.--S Khemadhammo (talk) 21:00, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
DGG, in all fairness, Hardy et al.'s article has been quoted here. S Khemadhammo (talk) 21:10, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
that's a mere mention as one of a list in a conference paper. That single quote doesn't imply notability of the topic. Significant papers are cited many times. You'll need more and better. DGG ( talk ) 21:18, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
I concur with DGG. A draft with appropriate references submitted for review seems a reasonable approach. -- Whpq (talk) 02:05, 27 September 2016 (UTC)

DGG, could you expand on what you meant by "draft space 7"?--S Khemadhammo (talk) 11:57, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

the admittedly confusing "7" is just my typo. I simply meant "in Draft Space" DGG ( talk ) 18:02, 21 October 2016 (UTC)
DGG, okay, thanks anyway!--S Khemadhammo (talk) 20:20, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

@Cirt, DGG, Whpq, Ron Ritzman, and Cybercobra:, I am proposing a new article for the namespace Peace Revolution at Draft:Peace Revolution. There is a review for undeletion going on at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2016 October 21#Peace Revolution. In case the new proposal gets through this will make it easier to post it. There is also a notice which I am supposed to put on the talk page of the admin who closed the 2009 article, but I am not sure who that is.--S Khemadhammo (talk) 22:39, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Michael Messenger & Victoria Nixon

Cirt

First of all I want to apologise for making a complete mess, not only of my page but also of Victoria Nixon's (my wife) at about the same time in March 2016. No excuse - no mitigation - I just didnt read the rules before I jumped in, albeit with good intent. As result her page was deleted by Saraj2107 on april 08 this year. My question to you is: what can we do to start over and have or not have wikipedia pages based on the correct tenets of notoriety. Victoria's 'problem' particularly was that so much data that might be considered appropriate comes from the pre-digital era and is therefore so hard to know how to reference, and I interfered with good intention but should have kept out of it. More recently, since her page has been deleted, she does have suitable material such as audio-interviews/newspapers etc - which in sum total with what was valid before seems to make a valid page... I am asking your advice, or from anyone to whom you might refer, as I am scared of putting a foot wrong again! Messengero

March Madness 2017

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) & MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 07:24, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

The article Backpfeifengesicht has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Why do we need a soft redirect for a German word on the English Wikipedia? We are not wiktionary, and we are even less the German wiktionary

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Janet Jackson (album) is undergoing a GA reassessment. Most problems have been tackled, however, the article does not meet criteria 3a, as it does not address the main aspects of the topic - there is almost nothing about production of the album, and little about critical reception on release. Afd

Hi, I found an article, List of places described as the end of land or the world, that looks like an indiscriminate list of places named “End of the Land/World” in some language; for example, Cape Finisterre breaks down into finis (first/second person singular present tense of finir: to end, to finish) and terre (land, earth), or “Cape End Land”. It looks like one of the articles for which you closed an AfD here. As an unregistered user, I need someone to AfD this one for me. Thanks. 165.91.12.190 (talk) 12:07, 6 December 2017 (UTC)

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time. For the co-ordinators, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:35, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

@Seahawk01: Cirt last edited in April 2016, so there's probably not much point in inviting him or her to help. Also, while I do not think it a good idea to speculate on the reason for his/her stopping editing, the end came very abruptly, which usually means that the editor will never be back. A tag has been placed on Category:Vajrayana Buddhism portal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Your draft article, Draft:Aaron Sexton

Hello, Cirt. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Aaron Sexton".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! Lapablo (talk) 12:18, 23 January 2020 (UTC)

Sockpuppet investigation

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Cirt, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.
