Notability of the Spartan Dischords
Hello
I was hoping to provide some additional information that may better suit to express the notability and recognition of the Spartan Dischords
https://www.mlive.com/entertainment/muskegon/2012/01/msu_spartan_dischords_will_roc.html
http://news.jrn.msu.edu/2018/02/does-pitch-perfect-fall-flat/
https://impact89fm.org/52127/temp-exposure/episode-3-msu-acappella-part-2/
I'm curious as to how the MSU Accafellas received a published page. The Dischords have been an established group for longer, are more notable and have more cited sources.
Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.249.25.60 (talk) 18:13, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
- 209.249.25.60 These are all local news and are either routine news announcements or connected to the school. If you want to question the notability for Accafellas, you can do so. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:16, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
- 209.249.25.60, I tagged that Accafellas for notability, but if you think that article should be deleted, you can initiate an AFD on that article. It had one back in 2005 but it was resurrected later in 2007, 2010? AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:34, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
Gotcha. There's more I can provide for notability of the Spartan Dischords. I'm doing my best to find all of it within the realms of Wiki guidelines. As for, notability regarding a national presence, much of the information I was gathering came from a Documentary made on the group and further backed up by event sources. Both parts of that documentary are linked on the page already in references. Much of the groups history regarding their notable performances has not been uploaded online but can be found in physical archives due to the age of the group. http://www.casa.org/groups/spartan-dischords — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blochsam (talk • contribs) 18:40, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
- Blochsam, who made the documentary? If it was a news organization outside of MSU, then you could use that as a reference. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:02, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
Request on 00:58:04, 14 September 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by WolfXCIX
Hi, I would first like to start off by saying thanks for reviewing my article quickly! Whenever I contribute to website like this it takes sometimes the full suggested 8 weeks or even more to hear anything about it, so I appreciate it.
With my tone, after you said that I think I understood what you were talking about. I think in that last paragraph I made it more an promotional opinion. Which I do usually try to shy away from, but I was corrected in this case.
As with the charting, the only thing I was really able to find was that AllMusic review, as it seems like that's the only readily available professional published review that I could find. I even went through all of Google's 13 pages when looking up "The Blues - B.B. King album review". Of course, there are the user reviews but that's not published and it can fluctuate. And really I didn't want to do it, but the only chart information I could find on it was in that article, as even Billboard's website doesn't go back to 1958 for the Hot 100, only to 1963. You can manually go to 1958, but King's name doesn't appear anywhere, only a hand full of artists do. I am not sure where their "Black Singles" chart history would be, as I can't find that on google either!
I don't HAVE to be the one to do this article, as it's really just my first one and I used the guidelines the best way I thought I could. Would you be able to point me to where I can get more chart information for an album from 1958? I would really appreciate it so we can get it up and running! And if it's not you, should I ask the Help Desk?
Thanks in advance!
WolfXCIX (talk) 00:58, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
- WolfXCIX, good question. There might be some old music magazines or more likely, newspapers, that might have covered the release. His discography should have that footnote about the Billboard 200 not extending to 200 back then or having all those subcategories. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 02:00, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
- WolfXCIX, this is the section that reads like opinion rather than description: "this effort sees more driven usage of a horn section on all of it's selections. The Blues also showcases King's growing talent as a songwriter, focusing more on bolder lyrics and melodies. While this was only the very start of his music career, he showed promise to be held as one of the all-time great blues musicians." If that's what the critic wrote, you should have it quoted as such. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 02:04, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
- WolfXCIX, here you go: 4 of 4 stars from Billboard: [1] AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 02:11, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
Draft rereview
I have taken up responsibility for this draft and have drastically rewritten and filled in many missing citations. [2] — Preceding unsigned comment added by UseTheWiki (talk • contribs) 06:55, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
- UseTheWiki, so why are you still referencing IMDb and other not so reliable sources? How does this person meets WP:MUSICBIO? AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 09:26, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
- AngusWOOF
- IMDb is allowed as a citation as long as it is not part of the user generated review content. The IMDb editor reviewed content such as cast lists are considered reliable.
- The subject of the article is mentioned in more than one, nontrivial, independent, and reliable sources. UseTheWiki (talk) 16:16, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
- UseTheWiki, no, IMDb cast listings are user-generated and are NOT reliable. Only the WGA credits are. See WP:CITEIMDB AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:25, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
- UseTheWiki, the sources needs to be checked to see if they are random blogs or actual notable reliable sources. They should also not be promotional and not tied to the subject / interviews AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:26, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
- AngusWOOF Sorry, I misunderstood the IMDb accepted uses. Also now that you pointed that out, I only see two reliable sources, and the subject needs multiple more. Thanks for the feedback! UseTheWiki (talk) 02:37, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
Draft:Manjappada Kerala Blasters FC
I have submitted several time for approval. but you declined, can you help us to improve the article. there are other articles example West Block Blues. they are the fan club of Bengaluru FC But they dont have enough content in their article. How they got approval.KBFCmaneesh (talk) 05:56, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
- KBFCmaneesh, you need more external news sources independent of the subject to show notability for the organization. See WP:ORGCRIT and WP:GNG. And please do not keep resubmiting after every little tweak until you have strong enough sources. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 15:43, 13 September 2019 (UTC)

Move fast and break things dab
I reverted this as the quote is not mentioned in Zuckerberg's article per MOS:DABMENTION AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 19:44, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
- Will you implement any alternative constructive idea so as not to imply to the user that this sentence originated on the cover of Jonathan Taplin's book?--Reseletti (talk) 20:01, 11 September 2019 (UTC)
- You could add something in Zuckerberg's article about it, or mention in Taplin's article that it originated from Zuckerberg's catchphrase. It would still redirect to the book though, but at least a hatnote would not require the dabmention. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 12:48, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
- "You could" :-(
- I think your revert is destructive.--Reseletti (talk) 11:27, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
- It's sad that you need to guard your contributions on Wikipedia from people who just revert edits because of mere formal mistakes rather than correcting themselves. What if people didn't check back on all their contributions to see if anyone tries to force them to learn the intricacies of Wikipedia rules and try again?--Reseletti (talk) 11:44, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
- Reseletti, I've redirected this to Facebook as a motto, and created Move Fast and Break Things (book) for Jonathan Taplin' s book. If you want to make it a hatnote, you're welcome to, but I think this would suffice. It doesn't need to be a disambiguation, as it is only two items per WP:TWODABS and again, because the motto is not explicitly mentioned in the article. Per MOS:DABMENTION, neither Zuckerberg's article or Facebook's article even mentions this motto, so disambiguation is not needed. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:09, 17 September 2019 (UTC)

Please review my draft.
Hi AngusWOOF. I submitted an article for Phillip Ahn M.D. and i have now edited the draft with more information and references. I am confused why the original comment "seemss like one credit in a videogame is not enough" because I did prior research before submitting and Daniel Pesina has a Wikipedia page and he also is also only known for Mortal Kombat II. I have linked more references and Ahn's photos are even on WikiMedia Commons already.
I am confused how to resubmit an article for review. My apologies if I am doing it incorrectly.
Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Titusthecat (talk • contribs) 11:15, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
- Titusthecat, if you think Pesina is not notable even with the news aticles given, then you can nominate that article for deletion or tag notability on it. WP:OTHERSTUFF Otherwise, I would see if there are any more external news sources to get Ahn's article to be notable. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 12:50, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
- Titusthecat, by the way, I moved the article to Draft:Phillip Ahn (martial artist) as his notability is as a martial artist / entertainer and not as a doctor, unless he's notable as both, but that would require more news articles. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:55, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
Article Sacha Nemcov
Hello AngusWoof, I just wanted to let you know that a user User:SimonPenil is reviewing AFC submissions. It's not that it bothers me but his actions seem suspicious see. And the user seems to have a less than 10 days old account. please see the article Sacha Nemcov, I thought it needs to go through AFC. AbhiMukh97(Speak)(Contribs) 04:56, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
- After a user's account has aged for a while or has acquired a number of edits, they can construct articles directly in mainspace. It will then have to be reviewed by New Pages Feed. However, you can tag notability if the article isn't really notable. Or call for a PROD or AFD. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:52, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion. I think I should let it be there, and see which direction it goes. The sources are independent, but I think it lacks notability. AbhiMukh97(alt) (talk) 15:07, 18 September 2019 (UTC)

Peer Community In Draft
Hello Angus, thanks for reviewing my Draft:Peer_Community_in. I added further and more authoritative references (links to official documents of the CNRS recognizing the organization, articles on the official page of the University of Oxford, etc.) Natematic (talk) 09:32, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
Re: Mick Lauer
You said that they only have one Yu Gi Oh role, did you read all of the credits? He is currently on a Nickelodeon series for lego and is in at least 10 MAJOR video games... I'm just confused how you distilled all those credits down to one role, please advise.
Also, he meets all of the following -
Has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions. Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following. Has made unique, prolific or innovative contributions to a field of entertainment.
Even if there weren't video games (entertainment) and tv shows, youtube is also considered 'entertainment' now.
IMDB page (which is linked on the page, and more annotations are being added) Ellyrox (talk) 16:36, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
- Ellyrox, those aren't significant roles. He's not in the main cast, only guest roles. Doing Additional Voices and minor roles that don't even show up on Behind The Voice Actors database is not helping show notability. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:22, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
This is a main cast role. This is a starring role. This is a major character, he's in 146 episodes. He has a podcast that has a 'cult' following, so much so that many fans have tattoos referencing it.
"Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following."
contemporaries of his have pages, most notably Jon Jafari and Arin Hanson. If I were to change the heading of the article to RicePirate would that make a difference?
There's 74 entries on imdb and that's not including 58 podcast episodes, or unlisted projects.
I'm just super confused here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ellyrox (talk • contribs) 17:37, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
- Ellyrox, IMDb is not a reliable source. Neither is fandom. If his podcasts and youtubing are notable you need to find external news articles to support that. The only one notable so far is the Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal one, and it is not clear he voiced Roku for the majority of all those episodes. I see another name Darren Dunstain there. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 19:36, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
I feel like you're ignoring a ton of other items I've pointed out here. Does this article suffice as as a reliable source (not for the whole of the entry, just the LEGO item, it also confirms yu gi oh) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ellyrox (talk • contribs) 19:59, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
- Ellyrox, that's a cast announcement and does not show significant coverage WP:SIGCOV AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 20:01, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
- Ellyrox, if you're going to bring up Arin Hanson look at the references that support his article. Stuff like Geek.com, Kotaku, Destructoid, VGFacts, Nerdist, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, SXSW. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 20:04, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
So is it my understanding that a press release is insufficient? What is an appropriate number of sources? It's also my understanding that yes, IMDB is not considered a reliable source for biographical information, it is deemed reliable for cast listings of released content (as noted in the VERY long wiki discussion about weather imdb is sufficient.)
I was using Arin as a reference as they are in the same field, not the same strata fame wise. Per the youtube about page for Ricepirate (Mick), https://www.youtube.com/user/ricepiratenewgrounds/about he has 485K subscribers, and his channel has 62,909,492 views.
Is linking to content itself allowable, or just articles about the content? What is the threshold here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ellyrox (talk • contribs) 21:27, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
- Ellyrox, you need secondary sources independent of the subject. Press release is primary. Interviews are primary. Direct YouTube videos are primary. There is not a threshold of subscribers / views that make a Youtuber notable. They need references to secondary news sources independent of the subject. See WP:42 AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 21:34, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
Dave "Fat Man" Williams
My article Dave "Fat Man" Williams was rejected for several reasons. I am new to Wikipedia editing and value criticism and suggestions. The article was rejected, in part, for not showing references that qualify the subject for an article. I understand my need of better references. The subject of the rejected article, however, is chronicled in a German language Wikipedia page. I mention this only to point out the subject has previously qualified for an article. Also, as rejecting editor you asked that I not use discogs.com as a discographical reference. My reading of the rules for musician references suggests I could use allmusic.com as an alternative. Is this right?
Thank you for your help. yours, rudypoo
Rudypoo (talk) 22:16, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
- Rudypoo, yes, see WP:RSP. Discogs is no good, Allmusic is conditional. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 22:39, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
your assistance please...
You added a primary sources tag to the article on Jessica Pressler. Could you please go to Talk:Jessica Pressler and explain why you placed this tag, or, if you don't think you can do that, or you think it no longer applies, remove it? Geo Swan (talk) 16:33, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
- Geo Swan, I replied on that talk page. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 21:01, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
- Feel free to weigh in at at Wikipedia_talk:No_original_research#Are interviews considered secondary sources... redux Geo Swan (talk) 22:33, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
- My reading of that discussion is that no-one thinks interviews are all primary sources. They all seem to agree that it is the context of the interview that let's one determine whether it should be considered a primary or a secondary source.
- For what it is worth, I don't think the three (so far) respondents there share your fear of using primary sources. My reading of our policies remains that there are many uses of primary sources that remain totally policy compliant. The key thing to remember is that primary sources don't establish notability. Geo Swan (talk) 15:52, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- Geo Swan, I agree with you and the others there that the interviews are situational. Some are quality and balanced secondary with tidbits of primary, but others are Q&A primary and promotional where the interviewee dictates the content. Vanity Fair has a great interview of Lena Waithe, and I really like Tom Bissell's detailed interview with video game voice actress Jennifer Hale, even though there was one bit of information concerning her birth year that was erroneous / contradictory. Anyway, I still stand that I tagged correctly Jessica Pressler's article back in August 2018 when a huge chunk of the references were coming from Pressler's own writing. Changing out the primary interviews with the subjects for the secondary sources that mention Pressler interviewing the subject helps cut down on the primaries. Catching a quality interview of her by some other newspaper saying she worked for the Philly newspaper is better than having a link to her actual article in the Philly newspaper or citing her website. When it's clear the article is not going to be steered by Pressler advocates, then we can let in more Q&A interviews with her. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:57, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
Invitation to discuss fate of Hermes Conrad
Hi AngusWOOF,
Thanks for reviewing my draft for "List of Planet Express employees" and for the suggestion. The main reason why I formulated it was because the page for Hermes Conrad, who is one of the main characters on Futurama, keeps getting nominated for deletion. While it has become apparent that Hermes' page does not meet notability requirements (the page for Amy Wong, another main character, might not be notable either), I didn't want it simply to be redirected to the generic List of Futurama characters page with no detailed description added like the last time Hermes' page was redirected, hence why I proposed merging the supporting characters of Futurama (Hermes, Amy Wong, Professor Farnsworth, and Zoidberg) into one article as seen in that draft, while leaving pages for the three primary characters (Fry, Leela, Bender) intact. I think your suggestion to simply create the detailed description below the main list has some merit though.
If you have time or happen to follow Futurama, I'd like to invite you to put your input for the deletion discussion for Hermes' page, or the one for merging Hermes with Amy, Prof. Farnsworth and Zoidberg.
Best regards, --WuTang94 (talk) 02:14, 24 September 2019 (UTC)
- WuTang94, thanks. It sounds like they're trying to reorganize the lists so that there should be some detail for the other major recurring or main characters. If Hermes Conrad's page can be beefed up with individual character notability: more reception concerning the specific character, more perspectives of the character outside its main media, then they won't have to merge it. Robin Atkin Downes
Hello! I had notice that you edited Laura Bailey's Wikipedia page, and thought if I can ask if you want to use your skills to fix up and give references to Robin Atkin Downes's page. There's a hell of a lot of credits in it that probably shouldn't be there. Lacon432 (talk) 05:06, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
- Lacon432, I would move any unsourced credits off to embedded notes for now, check over and remove uncheckmarked BTVA credits, and get rid of the rowspan. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 05:24, 25 September 2019 (UTC)

Benjamin Tod page
Hi,
You were helping me get the Benjamin Tod page. No rush of course, but you hadn't updated it after the last re-submission. - Vjarizpe, the article is in mainspace now. Congrats, and happy editing. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:02, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
- Vjarizpe, please disclose your conflict of interest WP:COI for Tod's page. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 15:07, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
Hey, thanks for publishing the page. I did see that there was the conflict of interest post. Other than being a fan of the artist, and thinking they deserve a page, I in no way was paid or received anything from the artist, or anyone else associated with them. Is it a conflict of interest to like an artist and create a page? I’m not sure what kind of proof of non payment you need, but I’ll disclose anything you’d like. I am proud of this accomplishment. vjarizpe (talk) 23:00, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
I do moderate fan page on FB started by another fan, but that is not connected with the band, it’s independent. My business is photographing apartment buildings and high rises. I can provide you or anyone at Wikipedia with a cpa certified letter stating I have received no payments from the band. Us fans just want to help spread the word of great artists that don’t have “Label” support. I wanted to work on a couple others soon, but I do want to know it’s ok. I’m not trying to break rules here. Please advise. vjarizpe (talk) 23:27, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- Vjarizpe, thanks for clarifying that you weren't paid. Are you connected to the subject in the non-paid way (acquaintances/friends of the band and/or its members/crew) or indirect payment (tickets, merch)? If they're influencing you in any of the content or disclosing other information, then it may still be a COI. Same story if you are connected in any way to Gems on VHS, label, etc. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 00:03, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
- Vjarizpe, the issue is that you've created content toward his official site, even if it's to set up their Internet presence. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 00:46, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
I’ve been to 5 shows this year and met them selling merch after the show, but they aren’t friends or acquaintances, and I have not received any tickets or merch. I don’t have a direct line to the band. GEMS on VHS has a Patreon page, and I do donate to them to support them. They’ve responded to posts on Instagram and FB before, but that’s the extent of my relationship. I’ve been trying to clean up the page since I pulled all those “band” sources and have been going back through the copy to make sure there wasn’t any content that was left from them. I also found a new article published yesterday and have been going through it to see if there’s anything I can add back in. Also, all the Gems sources were pulled prior to your approval of the page since you labeled them not credible. I do appreciate your due diligence, and do want to make sure I’m following the rules..... as a side note, should I not create a page for GEMS since I donate to them? I was thinking about it. vjarizpe (talk) 00:50, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
- Vjarizpe, you have an Instagram message that says you worked on developing Tod's official website. As for Gems, that's borderline, depends on whether you're a big enough sponsor; seems like it could be the case given all the shoutouts on their youtube videos / social media. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 03:07, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
Benjamin Tod used a moving photo I created, from an existing photo, of him on his homepage, and I was/am pretty proud. I was not paid by the band. I donate to Gems at a tier that makes me a contributor. These people aren’t my friends, I'm just a huge fan who wanted to try to do something good for people who don't have a lot of money, and are trying to make it. I’m new to this so I appreciate your help. If my writing is biased, if I cited sources that are not valid, or left any ounce of opinion, please let me know. Hey, I get it. please check any info I posted, everything is from qualified sources. Nothing is meant to advertise, or promote. He meets the qualifications for a page. - Vjarizpe, I think you're gotten the hang of what verbiage would be promotional / biased vs. neutral, and same with the sources. That helped a lot in getting it out of the draft world. As for Gems, think of it like a political party or organization. Donating at some small flash in the pan level or having a bit of stock in the company doesn't really show a COI, but being on staff, even if volunteer, would be, and doing it to improve your standing among the organization or band would be. Also, editors should not be using Wikipedia to promote their subject, but report on them, good and bad (see WP:PROUD, yes, even our favorite people can have major issues and criticism). It's okay to be big fans of the article subjects, just have to keep neutral about it when explaining that to others. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 15:55, 27 September 2019 (UTC)
Got it. Thanks for all your guidance. I’ll stay away from doing Gems, that makes sense. vjarizpe (talk) 17:00, 27 September 2019 (UTC)

IN THE TIME IT HAS TAKEN YOU TO REVIEW THIS PAGE, WHICH I SPENT HOURS ON, AND THEN DECLINE IT TWICE AND REFUSE TO LOOK AT IT AGAIN, SOMEONE ELSE HAS CREATED AN INCREDIBLY SIMILAR PAGE WITH FEWER REFERENCES THAT WAS FOUND COMPLETELY ACCEPTABLE. THE DRAFT ARTICLE IS MORE DETAILED THAN A TONNE OF OTHER ARTICLES THAT ARE ACTUALLY ON WIKIPEDIA. SO THANKS VERY MUCH FOR WASTING MY TIME WHEN I WAS TRYING TO DO SOMETHING USEFUL FOR THE COMMUNITY. Please Check the Books and you may search on Google 'Narendra Singh Dhami Books' then you will see..I think you are checking only one link. It isn't enough to provide the URL's of book to prove about author of the book.Sorry but iam tired of Wikipedia service, you can search about Narendra Singh Dhami on Google to know is he notable or not . People are buying his books everywhere in the word...his books are available on Both formats digital and Hardcover.

Doxxing
Hi Angus, I genuinely don't want to cause any gried for you about this, because I absolutely agree with your concerns about the editing in this case, but you might want to quickly re-read WP:DOX. This applies to all editors, even vandals, self-publicists and spam merchants - if the information hasn't been posted on-wiki, we mustn't use it onwiki to link accounts to real identities. An admin has revdelled a couple of your recent edits to my talk page - I wanted to give you a heads up in case there are other steps you need to take. Feel free to remove this message once you've read it, of course. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 20:39, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- Girth Summit, my concern is when there is possible undisclosed paid editing because it is advertising. When I look up the username in general or see that the username is related to the person (shares exact same name, shares last name), what is the right tagging to place there? COI? UDP? Autobio? or nothing? for Autobio, if they write the same info on their user page, can it stay tagged as such? AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 21:12, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- AngusWOOF, I share your concerns, but if you look at WP:COI, I think about the fourth paragraph down, it's pretty explicit - do not post identities. If you follow the link breadcrumbs, you have to report to COIN and to ask a functionary to examine the evidence in private. I think in this particular case, the COI doesn't seem to me to be crucially important at this stage - the draft and sourcing are so poor that they will never be published in their current state, regardless of the author's identity. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 21:21, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- Girth Summit, okay, I will post to COIN if I feel like I need to question if anyone's username is connected to the subject and it is not declared right away. Can I still assume that if the username and the subject are the same, they can be autobio tagged or just punt that to COIN? AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 21:26, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- AngusWOOF, my understanding is that if it's posted on wiki you can talk about it - so, if their username or something on their user page that gives rise to suspicions, then you're fine, but if it's something off wiki, even if it's someone's Twitter account, blog and Facebook page all saying 'I edit Wikipedia under the name Girth Summit', then you need to reach for a Checkuser or similar before mentioning anything about it. Hope that makes sense. GirthSummit (blether) 21:36, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- Girth Summit, got it. Thanks. If they add references on Wikipedia itself to such twitter accounts, then I suppose it's fair game but it has to be done on their side to show they are self-disclosing they edit on Wikipedia. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 21:47, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- AngusWOOF, exactly - if they post through their wiki account that such and such a Twitter account is theirs, then of course you can mention because they've made the connection - but not if it's the other way around. (And for good reason - if ever someone claims to be me on a Twitter and Facebook account, they are trolling me, cos I've got neither!) GirthSummit (blether) 21:51, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

AFC Declined
Hi @AngusWOOF I am currently confused by your reasoning, If you can please share some more details. I see that this is on Wikipedia as well? How come the Wikipedia policies are being overlooked for certain articles? for eg :- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time2
Also if you can share what exactly I would need in terms of sources that would be appreciated. My sincere apologies, my intention is not to be rude but I'm confused. I had never submitted an afc before so your help will be much appreciated and if you can also share what does time 2 has that my article didn't have for approval that will be much useful. Thanks & Regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.46.211.242 (talk) 08:32, 3 October 2019 (UTC)
- 185.46.211.242, the main issues are that you've described a very generic business organization that does not show how it is uniquely notable for Wikipedia. You've written only three lines about the organization:
- "A decade old digital marketing firm currently active." - which decade? specify year founded and by whom? where is this situated? what do they do?
- "Raises funds for charity as well from time to time with the networking events." - so what? lots of organizations raise funds and have networking events
- "For article I've shared below the links which can be used to authenticate and validate their presence on Wikipedia." - half of the links are coming from the organization itself, press releases or interviews. You need secondary news sources that are independent of the subject, not primary social media sources. They also need to support the statements that you make about the company, not just be piled at the end of the article.
Please read WP:MILL and WP:ORG AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 13:20, 3 October 2019 (UTC)
Regarding this, see what I stated here on Popcornduff's talk page and what Popcornduff stated.
I understand what you mean, but the editor did move it to draft space. So the editor can work on it in draft space. We should take a "wait and see" approach. Also, before it's redirected, it needs to be moved back to main space so that the edit history and talk page history are preserved. Draft space material is eventually deleted unless it's something like Talk:Star Wars: The Last Jedi/Archive audience response, which preserved the talk page. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 06:23, 29 September 2019 (UTC)
- Flyer22 Reborn, up to you, but I've seen it submitted to draft multiple times, which is where it's been in contention. You might want to recreate the redirect and have it tagged with R with possibilities or salted. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 07:03, 29 September 2019 (UTC)
- When it's recreated, I will ping all of the editors (meaning you included) who commented on whether or not the article should exist, and note that we are now assessing this new incarnation. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 07:08, 29 September 2019 (UTC)
Questions on recently rejected article
Hi @AngusWOOF,
You recently review my article [3] and rejected it. I had a few questions related to it so that i could improve the article: 1. "This still reads like a resume": Will it help if i add personal life and education and club all the important events of the subject life under career? I looked into similar articles on defense subjects and this seems to the trend in all these articles 2. Praising the subject: Can you point out a few examples which led you to say so? I can edit these so that they are in line to Wiki policy. 3. Needs more external news sources to show neutrality: I have posted references 1-29 on the subject from reputed Indian news papers. I would also like to point out that these references have been checked by previous approves and they had no issue on neutrality and or need of more external sources. I think 25 odd references should be adequate. Please let me know otherwise.--Manas.chafekar (talk) 14:24, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
- Manas.chafekar, 1) why are you adding "clubs" and "education" like a section? Why are there "Important milestones"? That would make it appear even more like a resume. Education can go in the early career section and Personal life section can come afterwards in a separate section. 2. Praising the subject. The sections pertaining to his "accomplishments" are worded in presenting the subject in a glowing / praising light. Stuff like over-explaining the conditions that he landed in and how he successfully landed. That he supervised different groups or logged thousands of hours / years of experience is also a resume stuffer. The section needs to be written to be more of a biography that walks through his career and events that make him notable. 3) There are a number of sources that are coming from his own writings. Those should be minimized as they are primary and self-published sources. For the purposes of notability, you should highlight the best WP:THREE on the comments / talk page from news sources that show he is notable. Most importantly, I am concerned about the overall conflict of interest as your username implies that you may be connected to the subject. It really needs to be neutralized in tone, and balanced as not everything he has done is praiseworthy. If he's made some high profile mistakes or drew criticism, that has to be included too. My article on the STEMcoding Project was declined. I have declared the potential conflict of interest on my user page. The official reason it was declined was because "This is referenced heavily by primary sources from the schools and supporting organizations."
Of the 39 references there only 7 that are affiliated with either Ohio State University or the University of Mount Union. All the other references, including hourofcode.com, the Partnership for the Integration of Computation into Undergraduate Physics, the Physics Education Research Conference and the American Instiute of Physics Meggers Award, the American Journal of Physics are external organizations to either Ohio State or Mount Union.
I am not sure how to describe a project run by professors at Ohio State University and the University of Mount Union without providing a handful of links hosted at either Mount Union or Ohio State University. Would the article have gotten through if there were only 6 links out of 39 that were OSU or Mount Union? 5 links? 4 links?
I am very new to editing wikipedia so I appreciate your clarity on this.
Chrisorban (talk) 23:59, 5 October 2019 (UTC)
- Chrisorban, it needs to show notability outside of the affiliated groups, sponsors and partnerships. If it was publicized and promoted via Hour of Code, then that source is not independent. Same with the conference and the Journal. Are there journals, magazines that discuss the project but are not connected? AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 00:05, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
- AngusWOOF, Hourofcode.com is just a peer reviewed website that hosts computer science content. They did not promote the STEMcoding activities. They just reviewed and found them to meet the criteria to be hosted there. Likewise, the American Journal of Physics (which I mention in the article) is an independent entity that reviewed the paper we submitted and published it in 2018 (as mentioned in the article). They did not promote the paper or try to get anyone to read it. In the article I mention that Richelle and I are members of the American Association of Physics Teachers and we have run workshops at their national meetings. But we are not a part of the leadership of that organization and that organization does not "promote" our materials. Same thing with the Physics Education Research Conference. These are all external entities that we are independent from. Chrisorban (talk) 00:22, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
- Chrisorban, thanks for clarifying the references. I wanted to make sure they weren't press releases. I would check the info over at WP:INDY. The local news articles might be good to include:

These are Ohio based but not affiliated with the schools. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:08, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
- This https://aapt.scitation.org/doi/abs/10.1119/1.5021450?journalCode=pte would be considered self-published, so it is not independent, even though it was received and published by AAPT. It's okay to have a few of those but not most of the article based on the material. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:12, 6 October 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of André Ventura
Hello AngusWOOF,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged André Ventura for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Brittney Karbowski
Woof, I saw that you deleted a lot of the editing on Ms. Karbowski's page. And while I can't say I approve or truly understand why you did what you did, I accept it. But please, if you do care about sources for the anime that Ms. Karbowski works on, then please also try to help find source that are verifiable and trustworthy so that they can be added okay? It's rude to just delete a ton of hard work that an editor had to go through, you know. Steveman 723 (talk) 02:54, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- Steveman 723, you didn't cite Behind The Voice Actors properly. They need green checkmarks leading to actual closing credits. There's always the IMDb or Crystalacids if someone wants to look up her roles that are not sourced. I've been checking her filmography (and those of many other voice actors) regularly so yes, there are roles she voices in other shows, so if you can find the actual episodes where she is credited by name, or cast announcements, then you can cite those. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 05:30, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- Steveman 723, please do not add unsourced entries such as the 7 Seeds one. You need to find another source for that. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 05:43, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
So how do I find green checkmark that lead to actual closing credits besides taking the easy way out like imdb? I really do care about editing and want to do this right this time. Steveman 723 (talk) 11:44, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- Steveman 723, look for the green checkmarks on their actor pages [4]. For example Btoom into You has a checkmark. Click on the picture and it will show you a screenshot of the closing credits. Note Princess Principal does not have a checkmark so you can't source BTVA for that one. IMDb or ANN encyclopedia portion isn't a reliable source so you can't use those. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 15:50, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- Steveman 723, for Brittney's filmography, I am sorting the filmography entries by date of debut in the work, whether it be the English DVD or the dub broadcast, so the list of works do not need to be in alphabetical order. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:48, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

- Liz, thanks. They should have listed this up front, with new lineup, and remove the old content; otherwise, this can redirect to the main band article in the meantime. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:39, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
Hi there, would it be possible to delete this draft? I will publish the article about the album next Friday when it comes out. There's already plenty of references and sources online so I should be able to improve it until then. Thanks! Martinarocks (talk) 11:29, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

- AngusWOOF Sorry my bad, should be updated now. Martinarocks (talk) 14:33, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
- Martinarocks, also if you have some critical reception that shows some of the not-so-great comments on the album, as with the first critic saying it's more of the same, you should include that to show balance and make it not so promotional. In the meantime, I've requested the redirect be removed to make way for publishing the draft. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:46, 18 October 2019 (UTC)

What do you mean “notability of character outside of series
???? Hi! :) I’m afraid I don’t understand what you meant on your comment of my rejected article I don’t understand what you are saying about notability of character outside of series. Please help and explain, -RTweets201 Rtweets201 (talk) 06:28, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
- Rtweets201, you need to show the character is notable outside of the series. Have other shows or books published articles that focus mainly on that character? Request on 04:30:07, 18 October 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by Lfmcmillan
- Lfmcmillan (talk · contribs)
I'm not sure why the commenter rejected the article purely on the grounds that "wikipedia is not a research journal or textbook". The subject of the article is suitable, in reduced form, as part of the articles on the EM algorithm and Mixture models, so why would it not be suitable to expand on this for the specific application of the EM algorithm to mixture models? In addition, Wikipedia seems an entirely suitable place to reference multiple independent sources (Handbook of Mixture Analysis and Finite Mixture Models) which refer to the same concept, and comment on issues specific to this application of the EM algorithm raised by those independent sources.
I am in no way connected to any of the authors of the cited books, nor have I ever communicated with any of them.
Lfmcmillan (talk) 04:30, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
- Lfmcmillan, the article needs context as to why this this Wikipedia notable. It should have a section on the history of the EM algorithm. Who came up with it? When was it published? Also the impact it has on the field, and its widespread use in journals or textbooks. Instead, it jumps right into the math of it like a journal article or textbook treatise. You can see Expectation–maximization algorithm has those "History" and "Application" sections. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 13:30, 18 October 2019 (UTC)

Nancy Manes Plum
I just spent some time trying to put Nancy Manes Plum in some kind of shape for publishing. Then I saw your declination. I am not disagreeing with you, just admitting my own ignorance. I don't see how anything in that article (as I reformatted it) is a promotion. As I read it, the biggest problem is finding references for notability, but the woman has died, so I can't understand the promotion. Nor do I see anything unusual in the verbage, that would indicate it is promotional, however I am inexperienced at evaluating articles and would appreciate any guidance, at the moment I am left scratching my head trying to figure out what is wrong with the article.Thanks. By the way check out my suggested edit on his talk page User talk:Steve Michelman Oldperson (talk) 00:08, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
- Oldperson, please see WP:NACADEMIC and WP:NCREATIVE and indicate on the article how she meets the criteria specified there. The biography looks like it was copied from some magazine article, complete with two-letter abbreviations for US states. That's what is giving the impression that it is advertising/promotional. It also needs more sources than a single magazine article. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 00:16, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
- Oldperson, please also note there are sections that appear to have been copied over from the website article at https://birgitzipser.com/2019/09/ that would be considered a copyright violation or close paraphrasing. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 00:20, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks, BTW I am not advocating for anything. I am sincere, I am on a learning curve, actually I am truly awed by the ability of admins and RfC reviwers to assess an article. A lot of criteria to learn and absorb. I am not sure that my aged mind is up to the task. What gives me the jollies is helping people who are trying to publish their first article, but to do that I really have to understand the process and requirment for RfC review better. So I ask these questions. As regards the info you provided to me. It would be helpful if this was shared with Steve Michelman. Do you mind if I do that. Your comments to me were "meatier" than your comment on his talk page. Sincere thanks for the education. I intend to study the ref's carefully.Oldperson (talk) 00:40, 26 October 2019 (UTC)

Sarah Smarsh
Hi - looking for a few pointers on this one.
Ms Smarsh's book was reviewed by NYT, Guardian, WashPost, LATimes, etc etc, sold very well, and was long-listed for this literary award and that, and has an article at Heartland (nonfiction book). Hmm, I see that article doesn't list the award stuff so I should enhance a bit. I'm a bit surprised, Heartland is definitely one of the more talked-about books of 2018-2019, certainly "notable" in the vernacular sense - does having written a notable book not make one notable?
I think being published in the NYT (several times), New Yorker, Guardian (several times) and lots of other places, should establish pretty high visibility as a journalist. The Guardian has an "author" page listing all a writer's works [5], so I guess I should use that. Got any recommendations for the best citations to establish "visibility as a journalist?"
As for the politician thing, 2020 United States Senate election in Kansas also lists Smarsh. Tim Bray (talk) 19:30, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
- Tim Bray, as she's an author/journalist, the notability criteria would be mainly from WP:AUTHOR (WP:JOURNALIST points to same). Author would be more than just that the book was published and reviewed. So that's a different standard than the book that she wrote WP:BKCRIT AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 15:45, 28 October 2019 (UTC)

Bay Area International Children's Film Festival
AngusWOOF, thank you so very much for taking the time to review my page for Wikipedia inclusion, and also for your specific feedback. I'd like to discuss your note: "Need more news sources besides the local papers."
Most film festivals are regional events and thus only get local coverage. Only the largest festivals, such as the Sundance Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, or South By Southwest, garner significant national coverage. The local press links I have used are consistent with the references used by almost every other small-to-medium-sized film festival on Wikipedia, and those other festival pages are what I have been using as my examples. I just added two new links from two of the biggest major regional newspapers, but I want to make sure that this is adequate before I resubmit. Your feedback on this would be very welcome!
BTW, I see that you're a fan of The Facts of Life (TV series) -- I should tell you about my personal connection to one of the main performers from the show...

- FilmFestFan, East Bay Times and Mercury News are good, but I wanted to see if there were more national articles. A quick search brings up Animation Magazine [6] [7] and Kinema.sk (Slovakia) [8], The Epoch Times [9] although that one's borderline for reliability, it does show interest from outside. I want to make sure it's not just the local art and wine festival type of event. See WP:EVENT AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:01, 28 October 2019 (UTC)

Johnathan Brownlee COI Tag Removal
Hello, AngusWOOF.
I'm reaching out to you as the original reviewer of this article, which has now been accepted, with a question about removal of the COI tag.
You counseled me at the time that the COI tag could be removed "after a neutral editor has scrubbed the article". The reviewer, Utopes, who moved the article into live space, removed the tag, stating, "Checked every source, and the article appears to be neutral, as claims are referenced. Removing COI tag."
However, a second editor, One15969, undid the removal of the COI tag. When I queried this editor, they replied, "The COI tag is not there to show that there is a bias (there isn't in my opinion), but simply that a major contributor to the article has a COI." They also stated, "If another editor, without COI, removes the tag, I won't complain about it, but my interpretation of COI is that it should stay."
I've read the information in the link from the COI tag, Learn more about how and when to remove this template message, and it states "Maintenance templates are not meant to be in articles permanently".
So, I'd like to get your opinion: If an article has been deemed to be without bias (by two editors), can a COI tag be removed because the issue (neutral point of view) has been addressed? And, if so, would you review the article once again and remove the tag?
Please advise, thank you.
MBAWilbins (talk) 09:32, 29 October 2019 (UTC)
- MBAWilbins, it depends on Utopes, Onel5969 and other neutral editors. If they've scrubbed the article and checked for neutrality then they can fill in the connected contributor tag "checked by" section on the talk page. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:00, 29 October 2019 (UTC)
- @AngusWOOF:, I'd check Onel5969's talk page to be filled in on the details here, which have been discussed. Cheers! Utopes (talk) 01:33, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
- Okay, it looks like both editors there agree that the article hasn't been significantly rewritten to the point where the COI tag can be removed. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 01:41, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
- @AngusWOOF:, I'd check Onel5969's talk page to be filled in on the details here, which have been discussed. Cheers! Utopes (talk) 01:33, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
New Page Review newsletter November 2019
Hello AngusWOOF,
This newsletter comes a little earlier than usual because the backlog is rising again and the holidays are coming very soon.
- Getting the queue to 0
There are now 804 holders of the New Page Reviewer flag! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog but it's still roughly less than 10% doing 90% of the work. Now it's time for action.
Exactly one year ago there were 'only' 3,650 unreviewed articles, now we will soon be approaching 7,000 despite the growing number of requests for the NPR user right. If each reviewer soon does only 2 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by every reviewer doing only 1 review every 2 days - that's only a few minutes work on the bus on the way to the office or to class! Let's get this over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.
Want to join? Consider adding the NPP Pledge userbox.
Our next newsletter will announce the winners of some really cool awards.
- Coordinator
Admin Barkeep49 has been officially invested as NPP/NPR coordinator by a unanimous consensus of the community. This is a complex role and he will need all the help he can get from other experienced reviewers.
- This month's refresher course
Paid editing is still causing headaches for even our most experienced reviewers: This official Wikipedia article will be an eye-opener to anyone who joined Wikipedia or obtained the NPR right since 2015. See The Hallmarks to know exactly what to look for and take time to examine all the sources.
- Tools
- It is now possible to select new pages by date range. This was requested by reviewers who want to patrol from the middle of the list.
- It is now also possible for accredited reviewers to put any article back into the New Pages Feed for re-review. The link is under 'Tools' in the side bar.
- Reviewer Feedback
Would you like feedback on your reviews? Are you an experienced reviewer who can give feedback to other reviewers? If so there are two new feedback pilot programs. New Reviewer mentorship will match newer reviewers with an experienced reviewer with a new reviewer. The other program will be an occasional peer review cohort for moderate or experienced reviewers to give feedback to each other. The first cohort will launch November 13.
- Second set of eyes
- Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work, especially while some routine tagging for deletion can still be carried out by non NPR holders and inexperienced users. Read about it at the Monitoring the system section in the tutorial. If you come across such editors doing good work, don't hesitate to encourage them to apply for NPR.
- Do be sure to have our talk page on your watchlist. There are often items that require reviewers' special attention, such as to watch out for pages by known socks or disruptive editors, technical issues and new developments, and of course to provide advice for other reviewers.
- Arbitration Committee
The annual ArbCom election will be coming up soon. All eligible users will be invited to vote. While not directly concerned with NPR, Arbcom cases often lead back to notability and deletion issues and/or actions by holders of advanced user rights.
- Community Wish list
There is to be no wish list for WMF encyclopedias this year. We thank Community Tech for their hard work addressing our long list of requirements which somewhat overwhelmed them last year, and we look forward to a successful completion.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to check my article on Titiksha fest. It hurts to see it rejected but I hope you'll help me fix it. I wanted to ask if you can provide me with some example of reliable sources for which the article was rejected. I am looking to add the fest to the list of tech fests in India found here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Technical_festivals_in_India Local news which is working for the last 54 years should be pretty reliable I think. Considering the scale of the event, It's hard to find a national and international post about it but I still think considering it's biggest college event of the whole state of J&K and happens annually should be in Wikipedia with other technical fests. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shoaib Ahmed 00 (talk • contribs) 03:04, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
- Shoaib Ahmed 00, I suggest reading WP:NEVENT and look for those national and international newspapers that cover the event in detail. It's very rare when a school-specific event gets Wikipedia-level coverage. Usually those will redirect to the organization that is sponsoring the event or the school itself. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 03:55, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
- AngusWOOF, I see. Where I believe that it's not a big event compared to other events but it still is happening every year from the last 11 years. I think that makes it notable enough to be added on Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horizon_(festival) set a precedent that articles like that are allowed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shoaib Ahmed 00 (talk • contribs)
- Shoaib Ahmed 00, then please find the news articles outside of the region that cover it. Otherwise it might be closer to WP:MILL like the local school festival. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 22:19, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
Generation of filmography tables
What method have you been using for your conversions of filmographies to the table format that I described on the WP:A&M talk page? There are a few anime seiyuu articles that I would like to either learn to convert or direct to you, depending on your answer. — Goszei (talk) 23:33, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
- Goszei, it depends on how many entries need to be done. For the filmographies of folks who have a ton of references, I have this scheme in Excel where I paste in VADB results, rearrange columns, translate them into English, sort and then insert the format. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 23:38, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
- I see, I think I will this leave this task to you and other editors in that case. If you are willing to share your Excel scheme, perhaps I could help out as well; either way, I've generated these two pageview lists as a proposed to-do list for future conversions: one for Category:Japanese voice actresses and one for Category:Japanese male voice actors. — Goszei (talk) 00:15, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
- Goszei, you can go to WP:ANIME/BIO and there's a request list you can add the actors that you want me to try to construct a table for. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 00:21, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
- I see, I think I will this leave this task to you and other editors in that case. - Goszei, if you want to make it simpler, you can copy over a filmography table and a few entries such as that of Aya Hirano, then redo the other entries in the filmography to the same format. Don't worry about release dates if you don't know them, just leave them blank. You can also look up their entry on GamePlaza Haruka and then Google translate that entire table to get an idea what the works are. You could also look up their resume and just translate those. Usually those are the most notable entries. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 23:46, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
Declining my draft.
Hello, you declined my draft stating unless being in 1,2 or 3rd place that my article is not notable enough
but on wiki's guidelines a musical artist is relevant to have an article about them if they Have been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or TV network.
the person i wrote the article about has been on 3 major TV show's and also appeared in a feature film.
you gave me no help with my article just simply declined and made an offensive comment with your opinion on why you chose to decline it.
this person also has verification on social platforms but you simply choose to decline
Liz — Preceding unsigned comment added by GrantLizzie (talk • contribs) 14:07, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
- GrantLizzie, substantial segment is more like a national news segment like in 60 Minutes, not in the context of the contest show. Social platforms are not reliable sources to show notability. You need external news sources that write up specifically about the person, but they can't be WP:ROUTINE coverage as typically given to sports athletes and contestant of the week. Monte Warden Wikipedia page
Hi there - Could you or someone make very specific editing suggestions. I studied a number of Wikipedia pages for Texas musicians and used them as models in writing this page. The sections of information included for Monte Warden appear in the Wikipedia pages of other Texas musicians with decades-long careers like him, so I am a bit stumped.
For example, the page for George Strait was a model I used. Could you please take a look at the opening section of that? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Strait The tone of the language on that page is very similar -- one could say it's magazine style. So I worked to apply that same standard.
FYI, I am not being compensated for creating this page. I put a lot of research into it because Monte Warden is truly a notable musician, in the Austin, Texas music scene, and doesn't have a Wikipedia page. As his notable achievements go beyond The Wagoneers, they can't be contained on the band's page.
Would you be willing to redline the exact language that you believe needs to go? That would be super helpful. Thank you! Katherine — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kgregoratx (talk • contribs) 17:31, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
- Kgregoratx, It's mainly the multiple name drops, like "look at all the people he knows". Also the lead sentence talking about multi award-winning (see WP:PEACOCK), and "A band leader and live performer “known for his animated stage presence” that comes out of advertising/promotional material. That said, there should be some good potential with articles from Billboard magazine that focus on Warden's solo career, band and albums. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:19, 28 October 2019 (UTC)
Okay, thanks, I deleted all the content that you suggested, including that quote from the newspaper. Cut the named associated artists, just kept a minimum to establish notability/credibility. Katherine — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kgregoratx (talk • contribs) 04:05, 5 November 2019 (UTC)
- Kgregoratx, can you remove references to Discogs and also the one about the business office? The latter is a source that isn't accessible or verifiable. Also take a look at other musician articles to see how they are structured so you can redo the headers. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 14:57, 7 November 2019 (UTC)

Article Improved 'Yusuf Magaji Bichi'
Hello AngusWOOF,
I have improved my article 'https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Yusuf_Magaji_Bichi' as you made some corrections. Please, can you assist me and check it again.Ibnadambici (talk) 11:06, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
- Ibnadambici, it still reads like a resume. Major parts of it need to be rewritten in prose. Readers don't need to know the exact occupational titles. The article needs more external news sources explaining what he has done that has made him notable, not just press release material that he now has a new position or is speaking on behalf of the organization. Hua Wu (Computer Scientist) Article
Hi, thank you for reviewing my article quickly. It's my first article, so please forgive me for the mistaken Linked-in link, but I believe that Hua Wu is significant enough to warrant an article as she was in the "women in red" list. Also, any help with the article would be greatly appreciated Thanks again — Preceding unsigned comment added by ASchnauzerr (talk • contribs)
- Making the Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red list doesn't guarantee notability. Can you find other news articles that focus on her career that aren't executive position announcements or press releases? AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 23:14, 7 November 2019 (UTC)

Is the referenced video of her performing on American Idol Season 13 not credible evidence of her being on the show?
Satellitemusic (talk) 19:28, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
- Satellitemusic, she might have been on the show in one of the early rounds, but didn't made top 16, and certainly isn't a finalist per WP:MUSICBIO. Are there other articles to show notability towards WP:MUSICBIO? AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 19:32, 8 November 2019 (UTC)

Vladjanicek66 (talk) 13:57, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
Please can you explain the process to me as I have never created a Wikipedia page before and the conventions totally lose me.
1. I accept we do not have many citations yet, its early stages. Is there a way to hold this page from deletion until we can provide these?
2. While I understand you are treating this as a "spinoff band", technically this is incorrect as I never left the original band. As with many acts, one member used the band name without authorisation and traded under this name. This current band comprises most of the original lineup. The only reason we are called "The Nosferatu" and not "Nosferatu" is to protect ourselves from malicious legal nonsense and draw a line under matters.
3. If I copy and paste this article into a Sandbox, can I later republish if I can add more citations?
Vladjanicek66 (talk) 13:57, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- Vladjanicek66, here's my reply:
- 1) You can continue to develop the draft where it is or move it to your sandbox. If nothing's been done on the draft for six months, then it might be deleted, but those can be easily recovered.
- 2) As for the band naming, that's rather confusing and depends on who thinks they are the original band and which is a spinoff. If both are claiming to be the original band, then it should be explained how there are now two separate incarnations of the band. Depending on how much can be written, this can mean a split article or perhaps be merged into the same original article.
- 3) You can copy it over to a sandbox, but it'll still be treated like a draft when you resubmit it.
Hope this helps clarify things. The second question you might want to ask around to other editors on how best to handle it, and if there are similar bands that were in this situation, you can copy their model. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 15:40, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

- 113.150.100.49, I suggested a redirect to the group he was associated with. I don't know if there's enough coverage of him independent of that after he left the group. If there is, then a new article can spin off from that. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 21:21, 15 November 2019 (UTC)
Please help in solving queries
Regarding Your suggestions to improve article of Tanya Maniktala and Shivam Kakar.
1. I will work on your requested point to become neutral i.e.I will imagine I dont know them and try writing a concise (precise) stuff what is required from reader's point of view. 2. I have used all web sources only to gather the information. Can you give a example where I have not. 3. Additionally you have mentioned, the tone of writing is self promotion based. My answer to that is : I will modify the draft again. I am a follower of these upcoming actors who are very much popular since last two-three years in India. People have asked queries about them at several platforms and They have that credibility now (not a year before perhaps!) to have a wikibiography page. They have bagged good projects (tanya is going to work for Mira Nair in International - BBC project and Shivam is going to work for a bollywood movie. So as far as India viewers are concerned they are well searched in internet" Data for Tanya - https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&geo=IN&q=Tanya%20Maniktala Data for Shivam - https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&geo=IN&q=Shivam%20Kakar
Please suggest me, apart from promotional tone, what else I should rectify? Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sagargenetic (talk • contribs) 07:14, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
- Sagargenetic, the concern is that the article is full of promotional verbiage such as "She is set to take the British TV industry by storm". Please read stuff like WP:NOTADVERTISING and WP:NPOV and try to get rid of the promotional phrases, stuff that makes the actor look good. Replace it with more neutral phrases which explain what the actor has done. It's okay to say whether they starred in or co-starred in a particular show or film.
- Regarding Draft:Tanya Maniktala, please indicate her significant roles in significant productions that would meet WP:ENT. These web series don't have any notability as it stands, so you need to have other shows. Do not write promotional stuff like name drops "which is being directed by famous Mira Nair" or stating opinions as facts like "is a rising star" We known Nair is famous. Also the web series should be briefly summarized, not that detailed because she didn't produce or create the series, just acted in it. If critics praise her work, then list the critics' names and publications represented and have it quoted. See Kari Wahlgren, a voice actor who has a ton of lead roles in cartoons, and how I briefly describe the role. It should also not be all positive tone, and open to criticism.
- Same issues with Draft:Shivam Kakar. The web series isn't notable right now, so you have to find other shows that he stars in to meet WP:ENT. He should be in one of the lead roles there where external news articles from reliable sources can talk about his work or his career.
- Hope this helps. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 21:15, 15 November 2019 (UTC)
Anime biographies
Hello again. I have some concerns here. On some articles, Starbeam2 (talk · contribs), a relatively new user, has been using BTVA as a source when the user reformatted the tables in the Debora Rabbai, Michele Knotz and Veronica Taylor articles, despite most of them not including checkmarks. I've already notified them about BTVA here. I think we might need to use some resumes for those articles and probably help cleanup the Veronica Taylor and Michele Knotz articles (the former article only uses BTVA as a source for the voice credits, without resumes or other sources like CrystalAcids.com), using the Mike Pollock article as a model. Can you please let me know what your thoughts are about this and see if the user needs help? Thanks, Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 10:07, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
- Lord Sjones23, if they aren't checkmarked in BTVA then they can't be referencing BTVA, and I would remove those entries or comment them out for now. Also Starbeam2 should not rowspan the reference column like that per MOS:ACCESS. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:07, 14 November 2019 (UTC)
- Lord Sjones23, Starbeam2, I cleaned out Rabbai's article for now. I'll try to do the others later, unless you want a crack at it? AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 21:02, 15 November 2019 (UTC)

Recent draft: declined
I have seen that you declined my submission for Draft:Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum (season 1). The reason you stated was that it was a duplicate of the draft List of Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum episodes (which you also declined, I understand). This wasn't a duplicate; it was listing a season of the show. I hope you understand. Thank you! --Purplemountainmantalk 19:32, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
- Purplemountainman, there's only one TV series with one season. It doesn't need to be split off from the main one. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 19:58, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
- @AngusWOOF: True. But when there are a lot of seasons (e. g. Season 15), we could probably have a use for that article. --Purplemountainmantalk contribs 20:03, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
- Purplemountainman, that's for later, not when the series has just come out this year. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 20:44, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
- @AngusWOOF: Let me explain. I am reading my comment and I realize did not explain it clearly. What I'm saying is when the show's article is not anymore a stub, we could start expanding from there. Hope this makes sense. --Purplemountainmantalk contribs 01:18, 17 November 2019 (UTC)

Toriko split?
I think we might need a consensus regarding split of the Toriko manga and anime series into different aspects (i.e. a manga page, an anime page and an episode list). As it stands now, the List of Toriko episodes is essentially an anime series article; the production was originally added without a proper consensus and most of it will need to be moved to a separate article (in this case, Toriko (TV series)). I'll see what can be done. I've also contacted Nihonjoe (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) and Sergecross73 (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) for their thoughts on the matter. Thoughts? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 08:03, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- Sjones23, the original action from last month (October) was that the List of Toriko episodes was boldly renamed to Toriko (TV series), which I stopped and the result was the Request Move. That resulted in a month-long debate over whether the articles should follow WP:ANIME or WP:TV standards. During this period, the LoE article was reformatted to have the (TV series) sections with Production, Casting, Reception, Broadcast and other sections, but was reverted a few times in case the LoE was going to remain a separate article. The result by the admin was no consensus but that all parties are willing to try a standalone (TV series) article. So without having to reopen the entire box, I suggest that TV series be developed proper and to leave LoE alone. Maybe this can be attempted in a draft? AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:16, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- @AngusWOOF: I see; I was quite busy with other things, so I missed the discussion. Given your thoughts on the matter, do you think we should consider restoring the article to the way it was before the situation happened as per WP:STATUSQUO? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 17:36, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- Sjones23, I did fix up the LoE table structure and home media so that stuff should stay. But I think a draft would be a good idea as per Draft:School Rumble (TV series) AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:42, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- @AngusWOOF: My original draft was located at User:Sjones23/List of Toriko episodes (check the history page for it; it's a redirect now), but it was way back in 2011 when I spun it off from the main series article. Do you think we should restore the DVD cover and use the One Piece (season 5) (An FL) and the Naruto episode FLs as models to make it a potential FL? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 17:44, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- Sjones23, you can check with the others on the talk page for LoE. If there's enough material to create (TV series) then it would be put in the draft, and the LoE can then stay more like the LoE. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:52, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- Oh, and as a heads up, the WP:VPM discussion was closed with the result being that the project is "Interconnected, not subordinate". Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 18:04, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- Sjones23, regarding the DVD covers, you and the others are good at ensuring those aren't having issues with NFCC or Commons, so I'll support whatever you want to place for those. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:07, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- Gotcha. Like I said, I think we should restore the DVD cover for the article once the dispute has been worked out. I think everyone involved should review WP:BATTLEGROUND and WP:OWN, as noted in Anomie's closing statement regarding WP:ANIME. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 18:18, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
I'm creating a new draft at User:Sjones23/Toriko (TV series) and have restored the LoE to the WP:STATUSQUO version for now. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 20:34, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
Section break
Since the previous image was deleted as per this discussion, do you think we should restore it if it's absolutely necessary or change it to a promotional poster per WP:NFCC#8? I felt that it wasn't a decoration for the episode list like in some featured lists such as One Piece (season 5). Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 20:26, 17 November 2019 (UTC)
