Why shorter

[edit]

Cuts I made were with intention of making draft closer to Wikipedia norms. Still may be declined, as harder to find good references for producers than for directors and actors. David notMD (talk) 21:22, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I appreciate your attention to the article. Plans for a new film that Brownlee will direct and produce will be announced soon, and I'll add citations when they are available. MBAWilbins (talk) 21:28, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

COI notice

[edit]

Information icon Hello, MBAWilbins. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 15:05, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, AngusWOOF. As this is my first article, please advise on how to state affiliation with Brownlee for COI disclosure: I am an unpaid volunteer board member of Dallas Film (which is how I became acquainted with Brownlee) and will be a producing partner with Brownlee on upcoming films (though I have not been on previous ones covered in this article). I would be troubled if this impacts his ability to be recognized with an article, so please let me know how to avoid impact from COI. I appreciate the time you've taken, as I would very much like to be an ongoing, neutral contributor adhering to Wikipedia standards on articles related to film and filmmakers, especially in Dallas and in Texas. MBAWilbins (talk) 16:06, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

MBAWilbins, I would read through WP:COI and then for the Dallas Film Society / Festival and Brownlee articles, I would see if you can get some editors who are not associated with the organization to try to neutralize the articles for any biases, and then you can make edit requests on the talk pages for the two articles, and restrict yourself to just doing accuracy edits such as typos or number corrections. To self-disclose, you can go to WP:DISCLOSE and follow the instructions there to create a userbox COI on your user page. For articles that are not connected to Dallas Film Society / Festival or Brownlee, you can edit without the COI, but if they are films that are entered into the festival, then I would hold back on those too. Hope that helps. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:35, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

AngusWOOF, Your counsel has been extremely helpful — above and beyond — and I’ll take the steps you’ve recommended. Thank you. MBAWilbins (talk) 23:55, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for your review and actions on this article, Utopes. I see that another editor, One15969, has put the COI tag back in, which is puzzling, as you reviewed the article and determined that it has a neutral point of view. I have just requested on his talk page that he review the article and remove the tag again. I appreciate your welcome to the community! MBAWilbins (talk) 15:16, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
