(Lunisolar) date translation
[edit]What date is meant by "旧暦9月の庚寅、辛卯の2日間" (source)? I thought 庚寅 and 辛卯 were years, not days of the month? bamse (talk) 17:01, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
- Might this help? ja:十方暮 Dekimasuよ! 18:50, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
- That is, based on the reference to 日の干支. Dekimasuよ! 18:56, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you. So that would be the 27th/28th day of the 9th month? bamse (talk) 21:10, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
Ending the system of portals
[edit]Hello, there's a proposal to delete all Wikipedia portals. Please see the discussion here. --NaBUru38 (talk) 14:04, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
- @NaBUru38: Thanks for notifying WPJA. Apparently, the nominator couldn't be bothered to notify everyone affected by this far-reaching discussion. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 07:11, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
American groundnut potatoe / Apios americana / アメリカホド
[edit]Can someone add detail to the Apios americana concerning the cultivation, domestication, consumption of this tuber in Japan? The article notes that only Japan commercially farms this North American plant. -- 70.51.203.56 (talk) 18:20, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
Urgent help needed: Momoiro Clover Z
[edit]— Note: An editor has expressed a concern that editors have been canvassed to this discussion.
Please help! Just look what a user is adding to the lead section of the article "Momoiro Clover Z": [1]. That "the four members of MCZ are known for their controversial use of blackface"!!! I've already explained to him that it's pure vandalism to say that but he reverts the text back in, again and again. I'm not sure what he's thinking.
I'm asking here cause I don't want to violate the 3RR rule. I'm sure that it's a blatant violation of WP:BLP and it can be reverted an infinite number of times, but still... Please help!!! --Moscow Connection (talk) 12:14, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
- WP:NOT VANDALISM read it. It's a content dispute. An anon IP added content regarding the use of blackface. I removed the content as it was not supported by sources. I then did some research and managed to find sources that support the IP's content. So, I restored the content along with verifiable and reliable sources. Spacecowboy420 (talk) 12:30, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
- Help! It's added to the lead again! [2]. I can't revert it anymore. --Moscow Connection (talk) 17:34, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
Exactly how much in violation of WP:CANVASS are you trying to be, Moscow Connection? You're pretty much coming into here explaining that as you are close to breaking 3RR, you would like someone to act as your meatpuppet and perform reverts for you.
But ignoring the above for a brief moment, let's take a quick look at your points and my counters.
1. This is not anywhere near vandalism. That has already been pointed out to you by another editor. Neither is it a BLP violation. It's a fucking content dispute.
2. I get it. You're probably deeply into JPop and have these girls on posters all over your bedroom wall. I really do appreciate that you have some attachment to this article. But that doesn't give you the final say on anything. You don't own this article.
3. So, what can you do? You can find something that makes the claims of racism a little less damning. Go look if they made an apology for their racist stunt. See if someone notable actually defended their actions.
4. What can't you do? You can't canvass for support. Do it again and there will be an ANI report with your name on it. You also can't claim that every piece of content you dislike is vandalism. Because 99% of the time, it isn't vandalism. You can't get people to act as your meatpuppets and make reverts for you, this will also result in an ANI report.

- That's not canvassing. I'm asking sane editors with some knowledge of the group to look at it. --=Moscow Connection (talk) 18:37, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
"Notifications must be polite, neutrally worded with a neutral title, clear in presentation, and brief—the user can always find out more by clicking on the link to the discussion."
"Campaigning is an attempt to sway the person reading the message, conveyed through the use of tone, wording, or intent. While this may be appropriate as part of a specific individual discussion, it is inappropriate to canvass with such messages."
So do you think that comments such as

are neutrally worded, or are they attempt to sway the person reading the message, conveyed through the use of tone, wording, or intent? 124.106.139.19 (talk) 18:53, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
- This [3] and this [4] is a false statement and a blatant violation of WP:BLP and must be immediately undone. You should have been blocked. --Moscow Connection (talk) 18:58, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
How is that a BLP issue, when it's supported by sources? I'm starting to think the only issue here is WP:CIR 124.106.139.19 (talk) 19:14, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
- The version you've added now [5] is also false. There was no performance, the performance was only planned. If even it was filmed, it wasn't aired. In short, I'm not reverting you simply because I respect the rules of Wikipedia and won't revert more than 3 times in 24 hours. --Moscow Connection (talk) 19:31, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
If you respect the rules of Wikipedia, then why were you blatantly in breach of CANVASS? 124.106.139.19 (talk) 19:44, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
- ?! I wasn't in breach of anything. Since your and another user's activity has been characterized as trolling by some users, I would prefer not to fuel this discussion (per WP:DNFTT).--Moscow Connection (talk) 13:16, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
- I'm confused why you think adding a controversy that actually happened to their page is vandalism? It probably shouldn't be the third sentence in the lead, but if it's a notable event it has a place in the article. --TorsodogTalk 16:31, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
- I have added a "Controvery" section and included this news there. Obviously feel free to add more. After looking at the Japanese wiki it also looks like there was some controversy at a Mens Festival 2015 performance as well that the article could include. --TorsodogTalk 17:05, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
- 1. Why did you ignore the discussion on the talk page? The matter is being discussed there. Read WP:BRD.
2. Multiple high-profile editors called these actions "nonsense" and "trolling". --Moscow Connection (talk) 18:11, 15 April 2018 (UTC) - And it has been said by multiple users that it is not a "controversy". --Moscow Connection (talk) 20:00, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
- And see this: Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive979#Users interested in blackface controversies. And this: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Spacecowboy420/Archive. --
- I'm sure your work will be more appreciated if you write more about their musical activities, their style etc. I haven't worked on the article since 2013 or 2014 or so. Since then, it has been sporadically updated by some users, that's all. Why don't you expand it? If you want to help... --Moscow Connection (talk) 18:38, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
- You want to focus on their musical activities and gloss over other parts of their history? This is part of their history, whether you like it or not, unfortunately. I don't need my work to be appreciated. I, and all others that use Wikipedia, need it to be accurate and complete. Perhaps you should take a step back from this article as you seem very, very personally invested in it. --TorsodogTalk 21:12, 21 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Curly Turkey:, please explain to me before removing my content again why exactly you are removing sourced, verfied content from the page? I'm not exactly sure what rationale could be cited to remove two extra sentences that flesh out the original sentence with sources. It seems as if you and others simply do not want the content in the article, not that there is a basis for removing that content. --TorsodogTalk 23:08, 21 April 2018 (UTC)
- Torsodog—you've already been told—more than once—that such material is already under discussion on the Talk Page. Why are you coming here rather than (a) editwarring and (b) participating in the ongoing discussion? Curly "JFC" Turkey 🍁 ¡gobble! 23:11, 21 April 2018 (UTC)
