Please join Wikipedia Connection, a student organization at the Ohio State University, for a fun, inclusive one-day event that brings together diverse communities to create and improve Wikipedia articles related to women in the arts. Despite its wide reach, Wikipedia suffers from a severe gender imbalance: since most editors are men, articles conform to men's interests and perspectives. In an effort to change this, we are gathering diverse women and allies together to celebrate women's cultural achievements and discuss openly ongoing challenges caused by structural sexism
Learn more about the gender gap at WikiProject Women and Gender Bias on Wikipedia, and learn more about the Art+Feminism campaign on their page.
Food (including vegetarian options), refreshments, and Wikipedia goodies will be provided. Please bring a laptop, and take a few seconds to RSVP here! Anyone with an interest in the cause and editing is welcome to join - no prior editing experience is required! Please be aware of our Safe Space Policy.
Editing is tracked through our Program Dashboard.

In addition to improvements to articles on female artists from Columbus and beyond, several contributions were the result of translating articles on Latino artists from Spanish and Portuguese into English, thanks to the support of multiple professors and their students from Ohio State's Department of Spanish and Portuguese. In addition, several improvements were made to articles as suggested by a section of INTSTDS 4850: Understanding the Global Information Society as part of their assignment in learning about how Wikipedia is used around the world.
