- Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
- Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
- In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
- Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
- Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like
<ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>
, copy the whole thing). - In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
- If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References== {{Reflist}}

Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Whatif222! Your additions to Draft:Arjuna Beach have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 18:09, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

The page Draft:Sector 44 Noida has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appeared to be a direct copy from https://www.squareyards.com/sector-44-in-noida-overview-295. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition has been be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion review. [edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Guangdong, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. The use of flags is usually discouraged in infoboxes. Remsense留 22:14, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Mafatlal Industries

A tag has been placed on Draft:Mafatlal Industries, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

[edit]Hello Whatif222. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Whatif222. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Whatif222|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:28, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Samprati, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Whatif222, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Whatif222|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Amigao (talk) 14:34, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
Hello, I'm Florificapis. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Hinduism in Uttarakhand, but you didn't provide a reliable source. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. The text was obviously generated using ChatGPT, which is not allowed on Wikipedia. Hinduism in uttarakhand moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Hinduism in uttarakhand, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion nomination of Hinduism in Uttarakhand
[edit]A tag has been placed on Hinduism in Uttarakhand requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
The text was obviously generated using ChatGPT, judging by the formatting and wording such as "stands as a testament to."
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". [edit]Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Your repeated uncritical insertions of "Hindu"/"Hinduism" (replacing the neutral Indian et al) and "multinational" in the WP:LEAD of various articles fall under WP:POVPUSH and have been reverted. Mirrors
[edit] Thanks for contributing to the article Kajakarahu. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable and attributed to reliable sources. You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Most mirrors are clearly labeled as such, but some are in violation of our license and do not provide the correct attribution. Please help by adding alternate sources to the article you edited! Flags and links
[edit]Hi and thanks for your edits. Before adding flags to infoboxes you should study MOS:INFOBOXFLAG which recommends not doing this, with certain exceptions. MOS:OVERLINK is also worth a look. John (talk) 09:22, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hey John, I understand the Situation but by adding flags to infobox building it shows the location of country which looks quite good pls share your views on it. Thanks Whatif222 (talk) 09:38, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- That's your opinion and you're welcome to it, but the settled opinion of many other editors who have debated this for years is that they add nothing to articles. There will be a central location where you could discuss this if you wanted to try to sway the consensus, but meantime please don't add any more flags. John (talk) 09:50, 28 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, John. I propose that we omit the flag and simply indicate the country of origin in the infobox. Whatif222 Whatif222 (talk) 10:39, 28 September 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of 1512 in Nepal
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on 1512 in Nepal, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. (See section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
- It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Speedy deletion nomination of John Henry Budden
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on John Henry Budden requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.britishempire.co.uk/article/almora.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
Unblock Request
[edit]Whatif222 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I sincerely apologize for my past mistakes on Wikipedia. I understand that my actions regarding copyediting and the use of copyrighted content were inappropriate and violated the project's policies. I take full responsibility for these errors and am deeply remorseful for any harm they may have caused.
I am committed to learning from this experience and becoming a responsible and constructive contributor to Wikipedia. I have taken the time to familiarize myself with the guidelines and policies regarding copyright and editing practices. I am eager to apply this knowledge to make positive contributions to the encyclopedia.
I humbly request an opportunity to be unblocked. I assure you that I will adhere to all rules and regulations and strive to be a valuable member of the Wikipedia community. I am passionate about sharing knowledge and believe that I can contribute meaningfully to the project if given another chance.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Decline reason:
We don't consider requests written by AI chatbots(100% certain according to zeroGPT). You are blocked, not an AI, so we want to hear from you. This request wouldn't work to get the AI unblocked, either. AIs cannot capture the specifics of your situation. Please write your request in your own words without the aid of an AI. 331dot (talk) 09:51, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

- Dear administrator, I've carefully reviewed the copyright policy and identified the reasons that led to the block. To prevent future violations, I plan to [To be nuetral while creating and editing articles, not using copyediting, citing references from reliable sources, and also using graphics, media etc only if the permission is granted by the publisher].
- I'm really sorry for my past actions that led to my block and I also know that harming wikipedia in the future with the same mistakes can ead to my permanent ban, Please give me an another chance I will try my best to work hard and make good articles in future. I'm regretfull upon the mistakes done by me, Thanks for reviewing my blocking appeal. @Justlettersandnumbers Whatif222 (talk) 03:01, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- In order to lift the block, we need to be certain that you understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. Please respond to the following questions, explaining in your own words:
- What is copyright?
- How is Wikipedia licenced?
- Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
- Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
- How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?
- Your answers will enable us to establish whether or not you should be unblocked. -- asilvering (talk) 03:12, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- 1] Copyright refers to the legal right granted to the creator of an original work which allows them to control how that work is used and distributed. It gives the creator exclusive rights to their property for a certain period, preventing others from using it without permission and copyright also helps the original creators to get credits of their work and also to prevent the gains by others without the creators permissions.
- 2] Wikipedia is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA). This means that all content and many images on Wikipedia can be freely copied, modified, and shared, as long as users give credits to the original authors and share their contributions under the same terms.
- 3] Copyrighted content is not allowed on Wikipedia because it goes against its mission of providing free information to everyone. Copyrights restrict how content can be used, and using it without permission would be disrespectful to creators and illegal. Wikipedia's license requires content to be freely usable and modifiable, so copyrighted material just doesn't fit.
- 4] The circustances when copyrighted content can be used in wikipedia are 1] when the original creator or the copyright holder of the work grants permission, 2] when the content is in the public domain and is no longer under copyright, 3] Under the fair use provisions which allows for limited use of copyrighted material for purposes such as criticism, education , but this is used under strict guidelines. 4] and when the content is in the Creative Commons license.
- 5] To avoid violating the copyright policy in future I'll Always verify the source and license of any content I add, and the art which i used to articles is completely mine, And I'll request the original copyright holders for their approval for further use when needed, always add relevant data to the articles and always be neutral, And the most important thing I'll do is to take note of the wikipedias policy guidelines to ensure that I do not harm it in future and always make wikipedia better for people. I know that it's really important to respect the original creator for their work and to give them credits. And at last but not the least I'll not promote any kind of mistakes again which promotes vandalism. I thank to all the wikipedia team including respected Administrators for reviewing my unblocking appeal, I hope that none of these mistakes would be repeated again in future, I would be grateful towards you. Thanks @ asilvering, @Justlettersandnumbers Whatif222 (talk) 04:06, 17 November 2024 (UTC)

- I don't think the answers are that bad - I've seen far worse. Just so you know, we don't require "permission" from copyright holders, we need them to release the content under a compatible free license. That said, I have never done this, so I don't think it's as routine as you imply. Also, for text, re-writing it in your own words, avoiding close paraphrasing is key.
