Semi Ajayi

Ajayi has played professional football for both club and country. He has recently joined Cardiff City F.C has been documented in the local press that he will be a first team player. Martyn (talk) 12:43, 01 April 2015 (UTC)

@Himynameismartyn87: For notability purposes, played means to have appeared in a match, either as starter or to come off the substitute bench. Simply being signed to professional clubs without playing is insufficient. His international appearances have all been at the youth level which is explicitly excluded as a source of notability. See WP:NFOOTBALL. Sir Sputnik (talk) 16:21, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

Answer: Transfermarkt

No problem to me. Just did not see your previous mark. Are you reliable, aren't you? Montolive 05:05, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

@Montolive: I'm not entirely sure what you mean when you ask whether or not I am reliable, but for more information on what is and is not a reliable source, you can read Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources. I hope that answers your question. Sir Sputnik (talk) 07:39, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

Milan Nikolić

thanks I was about to put that up but I couldn't find the article! And I thought the creator was blocked! Well have a great Easter!Wgolf (talk) 17:01, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

@Wgolf: If in the future you encounter this sort of problem again, I maintain a list of all potentially G4 eligible football related articles at User:Sir_Sputnik/CSD, including common misspellings. Feel free to use it as you need. As for the block, this was done, but only for three days. Considering their sockpuppetry was a first time offense and did not involve block evasion, this was a fairly standard course of action. Cheers. Sir Sputnik (talk) 17:08, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
Yeah I have noticed one problem that comes a lot with some of these European names is that they have accents in there names and wont be linked to it also. Wgolf (talk) 17:09, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

II liga

In what way does the Polish FA document saying "professional league" from it's official website and an article in Polish biggest sporting newspaper stating the sentence "the licence should be no surprise to anyone as PZPN has professionalised the Ekstraklasa, I liga and II liga" not clear enough for you? Abcmaxx (talk) 21:59, 5 April 2015 (UTC)

Adjai Moussa-Ajayi Musa

Okay so there is this odd article Adjai Moussa-Ajayi Musa which I can't tell if this guy is notable or not-and based off the name it almost seems like 2 people! Also the article creator seems to be making articles that are either duplicates or unsourced BLP's, see here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Ramoneremmie Wgolf (talk) 20:50, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

@Wgolf: I suspect it's actually two different spellings of the same name. In any case, it looks like he's never played fully pro or international football, so I've put the article up for deletion. Cheers. Sir Sputnik (talk) 17:22, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
Thanks-it was really odd I was going "what the heck? did 2 names become one person?" I looked up both spellings and only found one Wikipedia link-well that's better then 0, that's for sure.

For some reason I always have the most trouble with Indian pages though (which usually results in some back talk from the creator like "you American know nothing about us" rather inappropriate stuff really I don't want to talk about as well) Wgolf (talk) 17:37, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

Transfer fee for BVB players

Hi,

Why did you revert changes about transfer fee of BVB players ?

--Rasulnrasul (talk) 18:13, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

@Rasulnrasul: As I explained in my edit summary, the source you cited is not reliable. Most of the content in transfermarkt's database, including transfer fees, is user generated. Any registered user on the site can submit changes, and without the need to specify the source. While all the numbers you added seem reasonable, they could just as easily have been invented by the person who added them to transfermarkt. For more details, see the self-published sources section of WP:RS. I hope that clears things up. Sir Sputnik (talk) 18:57, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

Jeremy Dezani Edit War

Hey Sir Sputnik, is it possible to ban the one who's waging an edit war on Jérémy Dezani‎'s player page? They are quite clearly ignoring anything they're told, including an invitation to a rational discussion on the talk page, so banning/blocking them seems prudent. Hahahopp (talk) 10:02, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Apparently there might be a similar edit war for the Brian Kibler page where this individual insists on adding "He has not won a magic event for very long" to the lead section of the article. Hahahopp (talk) 17:07, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
@Hahahopp: Normally yes, but since they are using multiple IP's this would not be possible without a range block, which would likely result in far too much collateral damage to be a viable option. Semi-protecting the relevant pages would be a better option. I've already requested it for the Dezani article. I'll keep an eye the Kibler article and do the same there if the issue persists. Sir Sputnik (talk) 17:27, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Edit warring at FPL

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection.

This message has been sent to both parties involved; please also note that another admin has already fully-protected the article in question. That is not an endorsement of the current state. Please continue discussions on the talk page and reach agreement/consensus. GiantSnowman 17:29, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi, to be honest I did not see in the source that he actually played for Mitra Kukar in Indonesia Super League. The rest of his appearances was not in a fully professional league either. That means, he is not notable. MbahGondrong (talk) 19:07, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

@MbahGondrong: If notability is the issue, then WP:PROD or WP:AfD are the appropriate deletion processes. As long as there is an on-topic reliable source present, WP:BLPPROD may not be used. Sir Sputnik (talk) 19:16, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Transfer Market

Sorry about the transfer market deal. I had seen you're earlier edit about it but forgot all about it. Thanks for telling me about how the sites content is mostly user-generated and also patrolling my articles. Da Drewster (talk) 04:09, 26 April 2015 (UTC)Da Drewster

Okay, then I'll switch the word to poor. It's not fake information, and I'm the only one providing/creating decent pages (and fixing it as well) when it comes to Brazilian football. I'm tired, mate. Tired of dealing with these arrogant Brazilian users (even though I'm Brazilian too) who don't help and still think they're correct. I'm sorry, I'll try to control it in the next edits.

Unsourced BLP

okay well I use to not put it up when there ws a EL but as of late I've seen so many other articles getting deleted even when they have EL's (even if its to the IMDB) so I though that you would put that up then if that was the case. Wgolf (talk) 00:46, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

@Wgolf: This is a common enough issue for it to be explicitly addressed in the lede of WP:BLPPROD. A common source of confusion in application is the different treatment of presence of sources for placement of the tag, versus removal of the tag. The requirements can be summed up as: Only add a BLPPROD if there are no sources in any form that name the subject, but once (properly) placed, it can only be removed if a reliable source is added. (Emphasis original). I hope that clears things up. Sir Sputnik (talk) 00:49, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
Well one thing that did make me think that it could happen was actually a few weeks ago when I noticed this guy who I tagged as unsourced who had a notability for something (I can't remember what) and had plenty of EL's was deleted as a unsourced BLP (I was surprised it happened as well) Wgolf (talk) 00:50, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
@Wgolf: Like I said, this is a fairly common issue, so from time to time, that happens unfortunately. You may want to request that the article in question be undeleted. Sir Sputnik (talk) 01:16, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
Well you might want to check https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:BLP_articles_proposed_for_deletion_by_days_left then (though if the only refs are to Twiter or Facebook I still put a blp prod up) Wgolf (talk) 01:26, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
BTW Linked in is not a reliable source and does not count as one since its basically like Facebook/Twitter. Wgolf (talk) 03:46, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

A South African footballer who I can't find any info for that I put a BLP prod up for just now

Njabulo Zungu only link is a dead link-so I googled him and no luck, getting mostly Facebook and linked in pages. (as well as a singer with this name) Wgolf (talk) 16:11, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

Amir Hadžiahmetović, Kerim Memija, Riad Bajić, Samir Radovac, Marko Mihojević, Besim Šerbečić

I want to contest the deletion of these person's pages. They are all professional players with professional contracts playing in the BH Telecom Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina which is a professional league that is part of UEFA and participates in Champions League and Europa League qualifying Bosnalopta (talk) 00:07, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) The Bosnian League is not a fully professional league, as defined by WP:FPL. Therefore, these players all fail WP:NFOOTY, and no evidence they pass WP:GNG either. Joseph2302 (talk) 00:09, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

lathams

Hello. To be honest, it's been a long time and I can't remember much in the way of detail about the latham style, but it doesn't strike me as typical of what I can remember. Hope it isn't him, he was a total pain in the arse. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 19:34, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

So, you discussed and decided...

Multiple article deletion

Hi, I just realised that the article that I created yesterday: Samir Radovac, Mićo Kuzmanović and Nemanja Anđušić, do seem fails WP:GNG. If there are ways to delete ASAP, please do so. Thanks! MbahGondrong (talk) 06:49, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

@MbahGondrong: Radovac was G4 eligible so that article's gone already. For the rest of them, you can tag them for speedy deletion per WP:G7 as the author, if you want to get rid of them more quickly. Sir Sputnik (talk) 14:16, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

Transfers

Hey. Is it okay to update articles like for example Erich Berko. He's playing for VfB Stuttgart II, and he transfers to Stuttgart Kickers on 1 July. The 3. Liga who VfB Stuttgart II plays in, is finished, so I can update how many league games he has played for the club. Is it then okay to write he plays for Stuttgart Kickers, or am I supposed to wait until 1 July. I mean, we will get very busy if we dont begin now with updating transfers.

Koto Abe Deletion?

I have just noticed you have tagged Koto Abe's page for deletion. Since Koto Abe is a back up goalie in a fully professional league and has played in a youth world cup tournament does that still make it available for deletion. If so go on and delete it I support it. Da Drewster (talk) 05:35, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

@Da Drewster: The relevant notability guideline here is WP:NFOOTBALL, which requires footballer to have actually played in a fully professional league. As such, reserve goalkeepers tend not to qualify unless they have received significant coverage, which does not appear to be the case here. Sir Sputnik (talk) 05:38, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
Alright then thanks for informing me. If you can delete it immediately please do so. Da Drewster (talk) 05:40, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
@Da Drewster: I cannot. However, as the author, you can tag the article for speedy deletion. See WP:G7 for more details. Sir Sputnik (talk) 05:43, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
Alright then i'll look in to it. Da Drewster (talk) 05:44, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

delete?

What are the these articles? All based on the Iranian League sources Are written. What's wrong in Navid Sabouri? or for example Farshad Pourkhanmohammad, Such as these are 1 or 2. These are quotas youths Clubs in Iran Pro League.--SaməkTalk 07:29, 12 June 2015 (UTC)

@Samak: In order to have an article on Wikipedia, a subject must meet certain inclusion criteria; most importantly the subject must be notable. For footballers, there are two guidelines to determining notability: the general notability guideline, which says that any subject that has received significant coverage in reliable sources is notable, and the football-specific notability guideline, which says that any footballer who has played for his country's national team or in a fully-pro league is notable. Significant coverage in the context of football excludes routine sports coverage such as the player profiles listed in these articles, as well as match reports, transfer announcements and speculation, squad lists etc., and so the general notability guideline does not apply. Since none of them have made their debut the Iran Pro League the specific guideline doesn't apply either. Additionally, the guideline also explicitly excludes youth football as a source of notability. Finally, in the case of Navid Savouri specifically, the article was not substantially different than the one deleted following this discussion, meaning the article was eligible for speedy deletion. I hope that clears things up. Sir Sputnik (talk) 15:28, 12 June 2015 (UTC)

Reply regarding deleting Vlar dragonmir

vlar dragonmir is a professional player who played 2 games in a pro league, he is currently registered with a uefa cl club, Arsenal and is a well known player after his transfer. There is no reason to delete his page as many people wants to know more of this young player who is eligible for a football page Andyangys (talk) 17:35, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

@Andyangys: In order to have an article on Wikipedia, a subject must meet certain criteria called notability. For footballers, WP:NFOOTBALL the relevant guideline says that players who have played for their country's national team or in one of the fully pro leagues listed here are notable. Liga II is not confirmed as fully pro, so playing in it does not satisfy this guideline. Played in this context means appeared in an actual match, so until he makes his debut for Arsenal his contract for that club is also insufficient. Also please stop removing the afd template. Doing so will not stop the deletion discussion. It is, however, considered disruptive and if you continue to do so you are liable to get yourself blocked. Sir Sputnik (talk) 17:40, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

reply=

it is not a fully pro league but vlad was a professional playing in it, pls know your facts before you start making comments. there are many other asian footballer page which you can find to delete. Vlad will make his debut likely in a few weeks when they start their pre season friendly. I don't see why this page cannot be kept till then. plus, he is a player who is registered with a club in a champions league. (andyangys)

2- The club he played was also promoted to Liga 1 before he left therefore it made him eligible for a wiki page since he was part of that squad in the pro league. so this oage should be kept for users to read on the player and also because it has been qualified as a legit one.

@Andyangys: Before you proceed any further, please read the relevant guidelines on interaction with other editors, in particular on civility, personal attacks, and the assumption of good faith. That being said, WP:NFOOTBALL does not look at the professionalism of the footballer in question (though that is an implicit requirement), but rather the professionalism of the leagues in which they have played matches. This means that neither his personal professional status nor the club's promotion are relevant to whether or not the guideline is met. The guideline is also never applied prematurely, and speculation as to future appearances is never grounds for notability. Finally, the guideline refers only to competitive fixtures only, so even if he does play a friendly in the near future the article would still not meet the inclusion criteria. Sir Sputnik (talk) 18:07, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

may i know why did u refer to him as a "failed" footballer in your first attempt to start a delete petition? Vlad has also played in Liga 1 when he was with Poli Tehninca Timsoamra which played for Liga I which is a full pro league before they had to demote due to certain problems and eventually close. the successor club had to start from a lower div n promote. Vlad is therefore a legal page as he also played in Liga I. Admin, pls make your stand regarding this page. Hachim Mastour page was there before he had played a match for Ac Milan, from that, it would only be fair if this page is allowed to be kept. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andyangys (talkcontribs) 09:07, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

I did not in fact refer to him as a fails footballer (though I can easily see where that misunderstanding comes from). What actually wrote is that he fails the general notability guideline. All this means is that he has not received significant coverage in reliable sources and is true of almost all footballers his age. As for the supposed Liga I appearance, please provide a reliable source confirming, because at present it is unverified, which means it cannot be considered for notability purposes. Finally, other stuff exists is not a valid reason for keeping (or deleting) an article. Sir Sputnik (talk) 16:27, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Hey. It's because fussballdaten hasn't noted, that he played 2 games in the relegation to 1.Bundesliga. It was on 10 May and 15 May 2012 against Fortuna Düsseldorf. So: 11/12: 34 matches (+ 2 relegations matches), 12/13: 28 matches, 13/14: 32 matches and 14/15: 32 matches. That's 128 :-) Fodbold-fan (talk) 02:21, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

Transfermarkt

Hi. You've leaved a comment on my wiki page stating that Transfermarkt isn't a reliable source. Could you please ellaborate and explain why do you think that? Many football researchers has Transfermarkt as its primary football player statistic website as their main official source of research. Astristul (talk) 09:44, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

@Astristul: As I said on your talk page, too much of the websites content is user-generated. To precise, any registered user on the website can submit changes to the database with next to no editorial review from the people who run the site, which means that it qualifies as a self-published source. Its basically the same reason that Wikipedia itself is not a reliable source. I hope that clears things up. Sir Sputnik (talk) 17:39, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
@Sir Sputnik: Well, it doesn't because Transfermarkt isn't a site that qualifies for self-published source. I also have an account on their website and believe me that I'm not allowed to create any kind of content regarding any player that's present in their database! The only thing that can be done is discussing about where a player can transfer on their official forums. That being said, your argument is invalid! Astristul (talk) 10:25, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
@Astristul: On the login page they list a number of benefits of registering, the very first of which reads Submit Corrections - Whether player, manager, club, or match report – as a Transfermarkt user you can edit and complete almost all data yourself. Simply click the gear, fill in the form, and click submit. As I understand it, the theory when the website was launched was that players' agents could submit corrections. This never really worked and turned into user-generation of content. This process is still highly abusable. For example, User:Zombie433 was banned from Wikipedia for, among other things, adding false information to transfermarkt, so that they could later add it to Wikipedia. So in response, a decision was reached by the WikiProject Football about two years ago, if memory serves, to treat transfermarkt self-published. Sir Sputnik (talk) 14:47, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
FWIW, transfermarkt now seems to properly review user input, so it is much more reliable than it used to be, with obvious strenths in German-language football. Madcynic (talk) 14:56, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
@Sir Sputnik: Ok, that's clear enough for me. Thank you for taking your time and explaining the reasons fairly clear! Astristul (talk) 18:22, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

Could you please tell me how you quickly replace =[[Goal.com]] using Twinkle? SLBedit (talk) 07:42, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Okay. So you just use "Search and replace"? SLBedit (talk) 14:23, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
@SLBedit: I guess. For removing links, there is a convenient unlink tool in twinkle when you're viewing non-existent articles, but for replacing them I don't know if there's a better way to do it than one at a time. Sir Sputnik (talk) 14:51, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Daniel Šebesta

Hi Sir Sputnik. I have noticed you marked article about Slovak footballer Daniel Šebesta for deletion, Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and who has not played in a fully pro league., you are right but Slovak First Football League is fully professional competition and players of MFK Skalice became fully pro–footballers after promoting from 2014–15 DOXXbet liga to 2015–16 Fortuna Liga. I think is sufficient reason to not delete article. Please let me know your opinion. IQual (talk) 08:27, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

@IQual: The relevant notability guideline, WP:NFOOTBALL, only applies to footballers who have actually played (i.e. in a match) in a fully pro league. Since the 2015–16 season hasn't started yet, he has obviously not played in the Fortuna Liga. If and when he makes his debut, he will become notable, but presently he is not. Moon Seon-min

I created Moon Seon-min again. Moon Seon-min played at Superettan. His official caps 66 matches. I have a question. Wikipedia think Superettan is not fully professional league. So Moon Seon-min is not professional player and you deleted article. Please explayin why you delete Moon Seon-min in detail. Thanks.Footwiks (talk) 10:32, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

@Footwiks: Don't repeatedly recreate articles, especially one's deleted by community discussion. It's disruptive and may get you blocked from editing. That being said, the reason for the deletion is two fold. On one hand, Moon has not received significant coverage in reliable sources, he doesn't meet the general notability guideline. On the other hand, he has not played in one of the fully pro leagues listed here, meaning the he doesn't meet the football-specific notability guideline. As for Superettan, the claim that the league is fully pro is not supported by reliable sources, so we cannot assume that it is. Sir Sputnik (talk) 16:30, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
OK, Wikipeda think Superettan is not fully professional league, Is Allsvenskan fully professilal leageu? If Moon Seon-min playe for Djurgårdens IF, Can I create article, We can check his stats. Please refer to Moon Seon-min profile at Djurgårdens IF http://dif.se/player/seon-min-moon/. This is reliable sourse.

There is another reliable sourse. trasfermarkt http://www.transfermarkt.ie/seon-min-moon/profil/spieler/225342 We can check out Moon at Transfermakt. Do you still think that he don't notability? (talk) 16:38, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

@Footwiks: There are a number of issues here. First, Transfermarkt is not in fact a reliable source. It's content is user-generated, and as such, is treated as self-published. Second, and more importantly, it is not significant coverage. I'll quote WP:NSPORT: Trivial coverage of a subject by secondary sources may be used to support content in an article, but it is not sufficient to establish notability. This includes listings in database sources with low, wide-sweeping generic standards of inclusion. Significant coverage does not include any form of routine sports coverage such as match reports, transfer announcements and speculation, squad lists, and player profiles. Finally to address your question regarding Allsvenskan, the league is confirmed as fully pro (see WP:FPL), so if and when Moon makes his debut in that league, the article will be notable. About The Armenian Football Articles

I looked at the list of "fully pro leagues" according to Wikipedia criteria. How is Myanmar's domestic league deemed "professional" and not Armenia's? The Armenian Premier League is, for the most part at least, professional while Myanmar is unknown in football. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PyunikToghik (talkcontribs) 01:09, 31 July 2015 (UTC)

Bangladesh Premier League

Hello, I believe the league is professional. Based on the following information and Sources : Run By Bangladesh Football Federation with codified rules involving transaction, doping etc. "The Bangladesh Football Federation (Bengali: বাংলাদেশ ফুটবল ফেডারেশন) is the governing body of football in Bangladesh, controlling the Bangladesh national football team. It was founded in 1972, and has been a member of FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation since 1974." Source: History BFF BANGLADESH FOOTBALL FEDERATION Bangladesh Premier League (football) matches take place in National Stadiums, have foreign coaches. In the news:"Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), in its bid to increase the number of matches in the professional football league, has proposed a third phase for the Bangladesh Premier League in the upcoming season." and "The recommendations of the BFF’s Emergency Committee will be passed on to the Professional League Committee and if it is approved there, it will be sent to the executive committee to make it a rule." Members of the national team participate in the League including the captain of the National Team. 70000$ sponsorship deal. Is placed in the Bangladesh National league category by FIFA. TransferMarkt not reliable?

Why is it not reliable? It provides information about transfers and in-depth scores. If anything it's more reliable than the source on the Freddie Woodman article that you didn't delete from Soccerbase, because it showed stats that Soccerbase failed to provide. --Bobtinin (talk) 23:20, 4 August 2015 (UTC)

@Bobtinin: Transfermarkt is not reliable for the same reasons that Wikipedia itself isn't either. Any registered user on the site can edit pretty much anything other than articles, so its considered a self-published source. Sir Sputnik (talk) 01:42, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
@Sir Sputnik: I had no idea, thank you for correcting me in that case. Do you know of any other sites which provide reliable statistics? --Bobtinin (talk) 01:50, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
@Bobtinin: Soccerbase is generally not bad for English football. Fussballdaten is probably your best bet for the German-speaking countries, Foradejogo for Portugal, Bdfutbol for Spain. Soccerway tends to be okay for most leagues, though its usually slow to update and only covers fairly recent seasons. In my experience though, the easiest thing to do is to just look at articles on footballers who play in the same league as the one I'm trying to source and use the sources listed there. I hope that helps. Sir Sputnik (talk) 18:58, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
That helps a lot, I'll make sure to keep those sources in case I ever need them. Many thanks! --Bobtinin (talk) 18:59, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

KARLSRUHER

Hi, I just saw that you changed teamname pipings at Template:2015–16 Bundesliga table according to WP:KARLSRUHER and I have some questions. Why to you have '1. FC' for Köln but not '1. FSV' for Mainz 05? Also should we go around editing UEFA Champions League and Europa League article as they have Wolfsburg without VfL, and only Köln, and so on? If so, could you help with that since you seem more familiar to KARLSRUHER than me? Qed237 (talk) 16:23, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

@Qed237: The crux of the guideline is that the name of a German football club should not be piped to a single word outside of prose, but beyond that its more a question of common usage of a name than anything else. For clubs like Mainz that have both a letter/number extension and its founding year in the name, its pretty rare for both the be used outside of very formal situations, but which one is kept will vary from club to club. In this particular case, Mainz 05 is more common than 1. FSV Mainz, so I tend use that one, though both conform to the guideline. Cologne on the other hand, only has the one extension so there is only one option. As for the UEFA competitions, what you're suggesting is definitely something that should be done, I've just never gotten around to it. Sir Sputnik (talk) 19:39, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
Okay, thanks for the explanation. I will see if I have the time to look at those articles some time, if you have not beaten me to it, but I am pretty busy at the moment. Qed237 (talk) 19:45, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

Deletion of Karakostas & Vasileiadis?

Hello there, found some messages of yours regarding a proposed deletion of two of my articles. Well, as far as I can see, Anestis Karakostas has played in a fully pro league, while Giorgos Vasileiadis is an international player of Greece's youth squads, where he also perfomed in two games. So what's exactly the reason of deleting these articles?

PS. Both players are under a professional contract and they registered to Superleague Greece, so they are eligible for participating in any Superleague match.

Kind regards, PanosBonJovi (talk) 16:15, 21 August 2015 (UTC)

@PanosBonJovi: May I direct your attention to WP:NFOOTBALL? Since nether of them has actually played (i.e. in a match) in the Superleague, neither of them meet the guideline. The guideline also explicitly excludes youth football as a source of notability. I hope that clears things up. Sir Sputnik (talk) 16:55, 21 August 2015 (UTC)

Recreated footballers

The article Giorgi Aburjania (footballer) looks very similar to Giorgi Aburjania, deleted at Afd Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Giorgi Aburjania. Could you take a look? I'm not familiar with the WP:NFOOTBALL guidelines for Cypriot football. Thanks. Tassedethe (talk) 22:22, 30 August 2015 (UTC)

@Tassedethe: If you look at WP:FPL, you'll note both the Cypriot First Division and the Serbian SuperLiga are fully pro, so both of these guys now meet WP:NFOOTBALL. The basic rule of thumb for that guideline is that if a footballer has played a match in one the leagues listed at WP:FPL, then they'll meet the guideline. I hope that helps. Question

If a player passes away during a training session, even though he wasn't yet signed to a professional contract but he was training with the first team squad of a professional club, is it enough to create a wiki page for him and not get deleted? Kind regards, PanosBonJovi (talk) 07:07, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

@PanosBonJovi: Without knowing more details, I would say probably not. WP:NFOOTBALL is not met, and coverage of his death is unlikely to be sufficient for WP:GNG. Sir Sputnik (talk) 23:42, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for replying, I think I got some info about player's death that are enough to satisfy the public also I an area of Veria facilities will be named after him, if that counts to something that I miss. Kind regards! PanosBonJovi (talk) 12:02, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

transfermarkt.

Hi Sir Sputnik, Why do you think transfermarkt is not a good source ?, I think it is a good website for football data, I use to be a football researcher for Championship Manager and work for Eidos. My boss use to say transermarkt was a good source and we could not use Wikipedia as a source, because was bad, some clever person put Lionel Messi at Dundee United.

@Ecosseboy: Unfortunately, Transfermarkt has the same problem that Wikipedia itself does. Any registered user on the site can submit changes to the database. As such, the website is considered a self-published source. I hope that clears things up. Also, please sign your comments by typing four tildes (~~~~) after them. Cheers. Sir Sputnik (talk) 23:06, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
About five months you have been told by madcynic that Transfermarkt does not treat data entry as it did in the past; there is some checking by transfermarkt itself. If this is true, transfermarkt shouldn't be treated as a self-published source. I think it would be a good idea to open a new talk about transfermarkt on WP:FOOTY, since Transfermarkt itself has changed. Consensus is a PS.I also have an account in transfermarkt and I haven't been able to enter any data in their database. Yggdrasil2015

Dear, Sir Sputnik, Thanks for your reply. I'm new on Wikipedia, and I have an ambition to contribute to this interesting site. My initial ambition was to write about young promising football players. But after having studied the WP:Nfootball criteria, I can see that this they are not eligible until they have played first team football in a recognized league. As this is my first article, I do have some questions for you. You write that this article should be removed due to WP:GNG, This I do not understand. I have used secondary sources, in this case multiple newspaper articles to support the article. I can however see that my subject do not fulfill the requirement for having played in a mayor league (WP:nfootball). I have looked into this and have discovered that the player is injured and have been so all this season. Furthermore this is a player in which there is a great interest in, in Denmark and he is predicted to have a big career. Should the article be deleted and then re-posted when the player has played in a recognized league? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yggdrasil2015 (talkcontribs) 09:27, 5 October 2015 (UTC)

@Yggdrasil2015: I'll start with you last question first. Re-posting the article if and when he plays in a fully-pro league is precisely what should happen. Though I should add that your work is not for naught. If and when Victor Guldbrandsen does become notable, you can request that the article be undeleted at WP:REFUND, or on the deleting administrator's talk page. The WP:GNG issue on the other hand is a little harder to pin down. The main concern with Guldbrandsen is that he has not received significant coverage. The coverage he has received is routine sports journalism (this includes things like transfer announcements and speculation, player profiles, squad list, match reports, etc.) and is not considered significant for notability purposes. It is very rare for a young footballer to meet the general notability guideline without also meeting WP:NSPORT, so if you intend to continue creating articles on footballers I suggest you focus ones who have made their professional debut. On a final note, please do not let this set back discourage you. For a first creation, your article on Victor Guldbrandsen is excellent starting point. I hope we can expect creations of similar quality from you on subjects that meet the notability guidelines. Happy editing. Sir Sputnik (talk) 00:16, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

A user adding pages for Mexican footballers that I'm not sure if notable or not

For example this one Julio José González, this one might be notable as there is a page in Spanish, but just the pages by the creator. (Which have tons of redirects to be created and many of them have Spanish wikis that were never linked too-wish there was a way to make it faster for that part to link them) But since I'm not familiar with this, I figured I ask you. Thanks. Wgolf (talk) 01:40, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

@Wgolf: This editor is already on my radar, and I'll admit I'm struggling to keep pace with the rate at which they're creating articles, so it's good to know someone else is on it too. That being said, most of their creations do appear to be notable, if somewhat lacking in content. For WP:NFOOTY purposes, the top two divisions of Mexican football are considered fully pro (see WP:FPL). If you're ever unsure, Soccerway is a good resource here. The site has mostly complete statistics for the most recent seasons of the two league in question, and unlike most others it's search function can handle Spanish names reasonably well. I hope that helps. Sir Sputnik (talk) 01:50, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi. That could be my bad. I approved it from AfC. I checked the San Francisco F.C. article, for which they play, and are they not a professional team? This is why I usually stay away from Soccer (football) articles. The guidelines for notability are pretty whack. If we applied the same standards to baseball players, for instance, every minor league player would be eligible for an article. However, the FC article says they are the top tier in that particular country. If I got it wrong, please let me know. Onel5969 TT me 20:49, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

@Onel5969: You've made the classic mistake that just about everyone not familiar with soccer notability guidelines makes: You've not distinguished between professional and fully-professional soccer (the latter being the standard laid out in the guideline). While there is not doubt that there is some degree of professionalism in the top league in Panama, whether or not the league is fully pro (all players paid enough to not require other jobs) is not verified. For the purposes of the guideline, the WikiProject Football maintains a list of fully professional leagues at WP:FPL. You'll note that Panama is not on the list. This is largely due to the absence of reliable sources on the matter, which means at best we cannot verify a claim to notability under that guideline. JoeDecker's closing remarks from Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tarlan Guliyev concerning another league of unverified pro status sum the situation up nicely:
In this instance, NFOOTY gives a plainly ambiguous result. Having looked to the April discussion at WT:NFOOTY, I find that while there was a consensus to remove the League from the FPL, I do not see that there is a consensus about whether the league is or isn't fully-professional, it is instead simply so far unverified either way. We don't know.
I'm left with the view that any argument based on NFOOTY here is pretty weak, and I have weighted NFOOTY arguments in general here quite weakly. In addition, SNGs in general and NFOOTY in particular is usually, as a matter of textual interpretation, treated as putting the burden of proof on those wishing to show notability via the criteria, which further reduced the weight of keep arguments based on NFOOTY.
In cases like this, WP:GNG is the determining factor and the general guideline is definitely not met here. What little coverage Pedro Jeanine has received is routine sports coverage that you would expect of just about any soccer player, notable or otherwise. I hope that clears things. If you have any further questions, please let me know. Sir Sputnik (talk) 22:07, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

I need to ask you to reconsider your close...

...here [2], given the large number of Keeps from SPAs, and the preponderance of other keep comments that clearly show a lack of comprehension of the nomination rationale. The outcome at this point would be, at best, No consensus but more importantly it's puzzling why you closed this nom before even the usual 7 days had passed. EEng (talk) 02:04, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

@EEng: Let me start with your last comment. Please recheck the timestamps, as this page was nominated on 11 December and closed 7 days later on 18 December. I assume that this is a time zone issue and that it is not yet 18 December where you are. Second, with most commenters specifically calling out the suitability of standalone article, I see no reason to think that commenters have misunderstood the nomination. Just because someone disagrees with you does not mean they have misunderstood you. Finally, you would do well to re-read WP:SPA. Many editors consider the "single-purpose" label insulting, and you are consistently getting it wrong. Just for example, you are suggesting that an editor who regularly edits articles on the oldest people and football (soccer) in England is single-purpose. Regards. Apologies if I was off a day. Your response underscores the importance of making sure non-admins don't make closes in this fraught topic area. (And no, the SPA tags are completely appropriate, including that for the sometime football editor.) Thanks anyway. EEng (talk) 03:28, 18 December 2015 (UTC)
I also believe your close needs to be reconsidered. Your response seems to lack a proper understanding of how SPAs potentially canvased off wiki are making uninformed comments. It also appears like you did a vote count without considering the strength of the arguments. These SPAs generally don't make sound policy arguments. I'll also note that if you look at the edit history of Ollie you will find nearly all his edits are on longevity and therefore he is clearly an SPA. Legacypac (talk) 05:03, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

Thanks s there a way to keep two articles nominated for afd

Thanks for deciding to keep the article on the Soul Survivors. Is there a way we can keep two articles on Henry Flynt and The Insurrections and the Stumblin' Blox. I did an expansion on the Insurrections and I think it is now and obvious keeper. The editors who voted "delete" did so before I did the expansion and before I pointed out that the band had three notable members. While the Stumblin' Blox' may not look as strong, I ask that the article be given a reprieve, because new information could emerge on them in time. I want to buy the CD compilations with them included and see if the liner notes can yield more information. Please see the discussion there. I have accomplished a lot for Wikipedia in the last year including a massive expansion of the Garage rock article that just went GA. People can get demoralized here. I feel a little bit starved for appreciation quite frankly. Garagepunk66 (talk) 05:23, 20 December 2015 (UTC)

@Garagepunk66: I appreciate your position here, and know the feeling of burnout all too well. Unfortunately, there's little I can do here. By speaking to me about these afd's with a suggested outcome, you've canvassed me. This means it's no longer appropriate for me to participate in these discussions let along close them. I'm sorry. Sir Sputnik (talk) 05:51, 20 December 2015 (UTC)
I'm sorry--I didn't realize that the canvas rule applied to administrators. But, I thank you anyway. You seem to be a person of fair judgment. Best wishes to you. Garagepunk66 (talk) 06:14, 20 December 2015 (UTC)
P.S.: On a lighter note, I think that you will be pleased to know that I will be supporting Bernie Sanders for president. Here in the states, I think we need a good old fashioned socialist to relieve us of all this greed and excessive corporatism that is strangling our society. Garagepunk66 (talk) 06:17, 20 December 2015 (UTC)

if you came to Wikipedia looking for encouragement or affirmation you are in the wrong place, though there might be articles on those topics. Legacypac (talk) 08:13, 20 December 2015 (UTC)

I certainly did not come here for that purpose, but after one works as hard as I did on something as big as that expansion, it is a nice thing to have (after the fact). But, I just noticed that you complimented me for the expansion (on the discussion page), so I am humbly grateful. Thanks for your acknowledgement there. Your appreciation means a lot to me. User Bmrsh

Hello,

A couple of days ago I saw that a new user called Bmrsh created the article about a footballer named Tymothy Finkel. It was written in a way that seemed he had a strong connection with the player, and he didn't cite any references. I made an notification box that the article can be delieted if he didn't cite any references, but the user deleted the box and continued updating the article with unsourced materal. What can I/us do about that?

// Psemmler (talk) 00:40, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

@Psemmler: I've reinstated the tag BLPPROD tag and explained to Bmrsh that they have to cite sources in biographies of living persons. I'll keep an eye the page in case it happens again. Sir Sputnik (talk) 00:46, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
Thank you! // Psemmler (talk) 00:47, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

please stop editing my list.

what do you mean difficult to understand? if anything it makes it easier and more accessible for people.

Hi, further to you picking up sock-puppetry at the above article, further edits were made, and I reverted those. Do we need to report? Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 09:46, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

And my edit has now been reverted by IP @GiantSnowman: Eldumpo (talk) 09:49, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
Further examples at Faroe Islands Premier League (different IP address). Eldumpo (talk) 09:51, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
The IPs are not the same (unless they are using a proxy) - the 'Albanian' is in Brazil and the 'Faroese' is in South Korea. GiantSnowman 10:14, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
Pretty sure they are both Alexiulian from the edits made e.g. adding 'Performances' back in. Eldumpo (talk) 10:17, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
I think recent IP edits at Bulgarian A Football Group may also be Alexiulian. See also post at my talk page. @GiantSnowman:. Eldumpo (talk) 12:13, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
I thought Alexiulian was Romanian? That IP is in Bulgaria. GiantSnowman 12:30, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
@Eldumpo: @GiantSnowman: This all looks pretty clear cut to me. Alexiulian has been using open proxies so the location data is meaningless. The edit summaries are similar enough to conclude that the 'Albanian' and 'Bulgarian' are the same person and are consistent with Alex's comments in the past. (Note the spacing around punctuation marks). The 'Faroese' IP has left no edit summaries, but the content of edits to Faroe Islands Premier League is consistent with previous edits from Alexiulian, particularly the use of <center> tags in WikiTables. Snowman, if you could block these IP's it would be much appreciated. Cheers. Sir Sputnik (talk) 15:47, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Why is there still a discussion he confirmed his notability by making his first appearance for Borussia Dortmund, which means there is nothing left to argue, the discussion should be over. AllSportsfan16 (talk) 15:19, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

@AllSportsfan16: While I agree with you that the article should be kept now that he's made his debut, as a matter of procedure, the discussion will last seven days. Which source is reliable ? Can you give me a advise please ? --Kerem (talk) 16:12, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

@Kerem: I see you've added Soccerway to replace the transfermarkt source I removed. This is a reliable source. For Turkish football in particular, the Turkish Football Federation maintains a decent database as well at tff.org. I hope that helps. Sir Sputnik (talk) 01:23, 3 February 2016 (UTC)

tff.org database is not enough. It's a huge player database, I know but there only apps and goals. Anyway soccerway is okey :) --Kerem (talk) 11:28, 3 February 2016 (UTC)

I have declined your PROD, because playing for Malavan F.C. means he passes WP:NFOOTY. I can't read the Persian references, but he is in the player list in their article, and has been there for a year. The page is heavily edited, evidently by fans, so I don't think he's a hoax. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 22:34, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

@JohnCD: Thanks for letting me know, though you may want to refresh your knowledge of WP:NFOOTY. The guidelines says: For the purposes of this guideline, played means having appeared in a match either in the starting line-up or coming on as a substitute. Ghavidel has done neither. Accordingly, I have taken the article to AfD. Sir Sputnik (talk) 23:05, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
Yes, mea culpa, it didn't occur to me that he could have been in the squad for a year without appearing, and I didn't check Soccerbase until after. Sorry about that! JohnCD (talk) 09:55, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for your response at GS talk page. Are you able to review the recent changes at these articles and determine if any changes are necessary. I don't want to get into an edit war but I consider my edits are legitimate and reflect the summary sources. Regarding all the Norwegian refs that have now been added, whilst they may confirm the results of the seasons in question they do not confer notability for the summary listing, as per the original Soccerway source for 1st places/some 2nd places. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 22:55, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

@Eldumpo: The more I look at this guy's edits, the more I'm convinced that this actually is Alexiulian. I'll write up an SPI report so we can get CU evidence to be sure. Sir Sputnik (talk) 00:15, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

non-admin close on Selman Kadria

Hi. I disagree with your closing of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Selman Kadria. I'd never normally go to deletion review when the outcome is keep but I cannot understand how you think there's consensus for a keep outcome with the flimsy claims of the article being "adequately sourced." Why did this occur? Chris Troutman (talk) 18:59, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

@Chris troutman: With all but one of the delete !votes (yours), being explicitly enumerated arguments to avoid in deletion discussions, the consensus to keep here should be fairly obvious. If you feel you need take the matter to WP:DRV be my guest, but don't expect a different outcome. Sir Sputnik (talk) 22:04, 1 March 2016 (UTC)

Sir/Ma'am,

I spent an hour of my time putting that page together. I lost sleep just to start this page. Isn't this link an enough reliable source? http://www.niagarafallsreview.ca/2013/11/03/sc-waterloo-wins-both-csl-titles It's an official site from Canada reporting on his activity in SC Waterloo.

also the link below is from the Official Facebook page of Carlos Queiroz; https://www.facebook.com/109275485770136/photos/a.109328369098181.9154.109275485770136/1095485393815802/?type=1&theater

what more should I put for you not to delete it? Please be a bit considerate, that's all I ask. I will have more sources provided. I have emailed the officials for them to send me either links or some sort of an evidence to proof that everything stated in this page is valid. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pouya mh2 (talkcontribs) 03:43, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

Hello, so I spoke with him yesterday, long story short; he said that he is waiting for the final papers to be approved by FC Vion in 2 weeks to a month from now, so he is not official and thank you for educating me on notability. I did not know what you meant by that and that cleared it up and I had no clue that Canadian Soccer League was not official, but one question rises is that why does it have a wikipedia page and why do it's teams each have pages on here if they're not notable? Vandalism

Hi Sir_Sputnik. I have one problem and I do not know how to solve it. I tried to find out how to block person at Wikipedia but without any success... Please can you explain me how to block person who still contribute as a vandal, from IP adress 94.136.143.225 ? I will appreciate your help with that. IQual (talk) 09:55, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

@IQual: So in this case, a block is not actually appropriate yet (though it maybe in the future). When dealing with vandalism, your first step should always be to ask the editor in question to stop. For this purpose, there are templates for standard messages you can use at WP:WARN. I've gone ahead and posted one of these to the IP's talk page. If after a few warnings the problem continues, you can report the editor to WP:AIV, where an administrator will look into it and block the editor if necessary. Alternatively, you could report the issue directly to an administrator, but WP:AIV typically produces faster results. I hope that helps. Sir Sputnik (talk) 14:07, 26 March 2016 (UTC)

Both Conor Masterson and Daniel Cleary are registered for the Liverpool first-team. Although Conor Masterson hasn't made his debut, he was a on the bench and Daniel Cleary made his debut in the pre-season. Does this still mean that both articles will be deleted? Also, if the answer to this is yes, why hasn't Jake Brimmer been deleted. DPUH (talkcontribs) 15:01, 29 March 2016 (UTC)

Proposed deletions

How come you have proposed the articles Xavier Quintillà, Juan Antonio Ros and Rodrigo Tarín for deletion as, if they are correct in being deleted then the majority of the articles of FC Barcelona B players should also be deleted? And, what counts as a fully professional league, as I would've thought the Segunda División B was a professional league? DPUH (talk) 21:59, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

Re: WP:FPL

The professional league article states that German 3. Liga is accepted, however on the FC Bayern II page, an article about Fabian Benko was recently deleted on the 19th February. This person says that the league isn't fully professional. If I were to create articles of Bayern II players would they be deleted? Is there a way of restoring or looking a what the deleted article was? Thank you DPUH (talk) 22:53, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi DPUH, not sure I understand your point around FC Bayern II, they don't play in 3.Liga, but in Regionalliga Bayern, the fourth tier, and have played at this level since 2011. If you are talking about creating articles on FC Bayern II players in general, they would only be notable (assuming they do not pass GNG or NFOOTY through other means) had they played for the club between 2008/09 and 2010/11. Looking at the source provided at WP:FPL, and my German is very basic, it seems to indicate all players must be professional from the start of the 2008/09 in 3.Liga. If you are referring specifically to Fabian Benko, he was not part of the team when they played FPL football. However, if you feel you have sources that would indicate GNG (as he does not pass NFOOTY) that are not mere rehashes of a couple of quotes from Guardiola that were deemed to not indicate GNG in the AfD, I am happy to restore this article to your userspace for you to work on. Hope this helps, sorry for jumping in on Sir Sputnik! Fenix down (talk) 07:58, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
i don't mind. You've pretty much said exactly what I would have anyway. Though I am going to ping User:DPUH since I've been replying on their talk page up till now. Sir Sputnik (talk) 20:05, 1 April 2016 (UTC)

Proposal adding

Is there a way to propose the adding of the Segunda B or others (like the Belgian Second Division) to the fully professional leagues article? Or would you see no point in doing so if, in your opinion, you wouldn't count them as fully professional? Thank you DPUH (talk) 22:40, 2 April 2016 (UTC)

Daniel Rantanen

It seems you closed the page for Daniel Rantanen of HIFK Fotboll. You stated that he hasn't played in a fully pro league yet. He's made his senior level debut in the Finnish Ykkönen in 2015 and is a U20-regular. The most of the players in Ykkönen play as semi-pro status. And now he's contracted to the top flight side HIFK and is a young promising talent. I see no reason why he should have been deleted. Is there a way to recover his page? Thank you user:Joonash user talk:Joonash 4.4.2016

transfermarkt

Hey there, I noticed you removed transfermarkt refs from a couple of articles. I was wondering how do we rate these aggregators? From what I could see they all miss here and there. Are there any guidelines (on or off wiki) I could check out so I know the strengths and weaknesses of them all? Cheers. SeanMack (talk) 14:57, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

@SeanMack: For this type of page, it's usually okay to assume that it's reliable unless you've got good reason not to. Like you said, Transfermarkt is not any more or less accurate than most similar databases. Accuracy is not the concern here. The problem is that most of Transfermarkt's content is user-generated. They don't advertise it much, but anyone can submit changes to almost all of their content, which means that it counts as a self-published source. (See this discussion for a more detailed explanation). As for evaluation of databases, a good rule of thumb is that the narrower the geography of a database, the more accurate it tends to be. Take Fussballdaten for example. While they've got some other statistics, the page has a very clear focus on the German-speaking countries and as a result is much more accurate for those countries than most other sources. I hope that helps. Sir Sputnik (talk) 15:18, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
Ahhh OK. Everyday's a schoolday - didn't know that was user generated. Yeah that helps. Ta. SeanMack (talk) 15:27, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Review James Kotei

This particular article was made by me in September 2015 but till now hasn't been reviewed. Please I would request you to go through it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Kotei Alhosniomani20 (talk) 20:22, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

@Alhosniomani20: I'm not entirely sure what it is you want me to do here. Something tells me that you don't mean review in the WP:Page Curation sense of the word, since that was done a few hours after you created the article. I've gone over the article and made some minor changes. I do have one bit of feedback for you. You've tried to cram in a lot of redundant details, which often making it more difficult to reed. For example, in first sentence of the Oman section, you stressed the fact that his new club was in Oman three separate times. That's not really necessary. I hope helps. Sir Sputnik (talk) 20:49, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

So I can be sure that this article won't be deleted in future. Because the day I created it, it was nominated for deletion.Alhosniomani20 (talk) 21:08, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

@Alhosniomani20: If that's what you're getting at you have nothing to worry about. Given that the editor who proposed the deletion went on the remove their own proposal, it looks to me as if that was simple error. In any case, the article clearly meets the football-specific notability guideline since Kotei has played for Liberty Professionals. Sir Sputnik (talk) 21:14, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

A footballer whose page I moved to a new name but it does not seem to work either...

So on the new page feed I see Mahmoud Saad (Footballer), I couldn't move it to Mahmoud Saad (footballer) as that was taken. I misread Mahmoud Saad page as being English so I put it as Mahmoud Saad (Egyptian footballer). Then I realize that they are BOTH Egyptian. Not sure what to say for the names now. This is confusing to me....Wgolf (talk) 01:01, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

@Wgolf: In cases like this the year of birth is the preferred disambiguation hatnote. Since neither of them appears to be the primary topic, I've gone ahead and moved the two pages to Mahmoud Saad (footballer, born 1983) and Mahmoud Saad (footballer, born 1952), and created a disambiguation page at Mahmoud Saad. Fully professional leagues

why was that recent revert that you did on this Talk page not a valid response? just wondering about your sock puppetry comment. Matilda Maniac (talk) 04:54, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

Ah Ha ! I did some exploring, and now I understand whats going on with this user. ! I think the response is valid, even if the user is not. Matilda Maniac (talk) 06:43, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
@Matilda Maniac: I trust you've figured most of this out already, but the person operating this account was blocked a while back and is now evading that block, a practice more commonly known as sockpuppetry. In cases of persistent sockpuppetry, it is fairly standard practice to revert all edits in evasion of a block, so as to deny recognition to the editor in question. Simply put, sockpuppetry should not be worthwhile. Sir Sputnik (talk) 14:19, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
