Hi. I see that you've proposed these articles for deletion. Both plays featured in the US Open Cup, which has always been enough in the past to reach notability guidelines. Has their been a unanimous decision on this not been enough now?

CSD declined - Christian Santos
Hi Sir Sputnik. Just a note to let you know that I've declined the WP:G4 request for this page - the current version of the page differs from the previously deleted in that it claims Santos now plays for Beşiktaş J.K.. Since Beşiktaş is in the Süper Lig, this denotes notability per WP:NFOOTY, meaning that the reasons given for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Christian Santos are no longer appropriate. Yunshui 雲水 10:04, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- Ignore that - you're right, I'm wrong. I've now deleted the page; sorry for making you jump through hoops like that. Yunshui 雲水 13:03, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
Major Indoor Soccer League
Hi Sir Sputnik, I was viewing the AfD for Richard Shaw and noticed that one of the participants listed the MISL as a fully professional league at WP:FPL. You removed it, citing a lack of evidence. Well, I'm not too familiar with how we gauge whether a league is professional, but the MISL's About page refers to itself as professional several times. So is there a distinction between professional and fully professional? Perhaps the MISL only pays players a nominal sum, making it technically professional. Or did you require secondary sources referring to the league as professional? --BDD (talk) 16:58, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
Ivan Tomičić, Ivan Banić, Dino Mikanović,Špiro Peričić, Marko Bencun and Pavao Vugdelija
Ok, received your notes in the talk section... Let's start with Bencun. Ignoring the fact that he's a youth international with a professional contract, he HAS in fact debuted in a fully pro league last week, so the main reason stated is invalid and I've removed the deletion stamp.
Vugdelija has admittedly been without a cap in a fully pro league so far, and hasn't been a youth international, but he is the second-choice goalkeeper of a pro club in a pro league, with a professional contract, and may debut any day now. Tomičić, Banić, Mikanović and Peričić are all (current) youth internationals. Mikanović is a member of the first team squad (visible on the club site) who can make his debut any time now too, especially as he's playing in a critical position for the club, and it would be crazy to delete an article on grounds that will likely become invalid in a month's time at most. So, Banić and Peričić have, in my mind, somewhat valid reasons to be deleted according to that. They have both been joined to the first team, and carry stipend contracts which have a clause that might turn them into pro contracts at any given moment, but have been sent off on loan to a second-tier club, which means that they won't make their debut in the first league that soon. Again, they are youth internationals, with Peričić being the more "media-covered" one than Banić, with contracts with a pro club.
That's how the situation looks like. I'll do my best to expand their article if that was one of the issues that caused them to be stamped for deletion. Zlopseto (talk) 18:40, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Ok, thanks, I won't contest the deletion of the others. The Bencun brothers should by all means stay. As is obvious, I'm not fully acquainted with the possibilities and the rules of Wikipedia, so all that input was appreciated. Thanks! Zlopseto (talk) 12:11, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
AFD of Pep Team
I'm a football illiterate but somehow I managed to notice an AFD template on Pep Team. I thought that WP:Football members would want to weigh in on it. I felt OK about adding a WP:Football template to the article talk page, but wasn't comfortable adding an entry under article alerts on the WP:Football page -- not being a member of the project. Anyway, you seemed an active member of the project and will know the appropriate action to take. Susfele (talk) 16:50, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
Request for your opinion
Hi Sir Sputnik. Wondered if you could offer you views on Jak Alnwick, currently nominated for speedy deletion under WP:G4? The situation's similar to that of Christian Santos, and your grasp of that was so good that I immediately thought of you as the best person to ask for advice here. The new page is not substantially similar to the deleted version (it's a lot shorter, for starters), but the important bit is that it newly claims (in the text, not the infobox) that he's now made his debut for Newcastle F.C.. That would put him over the bar for WP:NFOOTY, but it was a pre-season match. In your view would that constitute an appearance in a fully professional league (and hence a pass of the notability criteria) or not? I don't know enough about the intricacies of football to make the call. Cheers for any input you can offer, Yunshui 雲水 13:12, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

The player has been in a fully pro league in turkish 3rd division for 31 matches. Turkish 3rd division is a fully professional league.
As it clearly published that turkish 3rd division is a fully professional league. This is the official rule paper of the divison. and here it declres that turkish 3rd division is a fully proffessional league. Just same as turkish super league, turkish first division or turkish second division.

Hi Sir Sputnik. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Robbie Crawford (footballer), a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. Not identical to a page already deleted per a deletion discussion. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:04, 31 October 2012 (UTC)

Restoration of deleted articles
Hello, Sir Sputnik. Nearly two years ago you nominated Stanislav Pedõk and Joonas Tamm for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Henri Anier. Both articles were deleted, but both have now been re-created. I am not deleting them under speedy deletion criterion G4 (recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion) because it looks to me as though the subjects of the articles may now be more notable than they were at the time of the AfD. However, I thought it worth while letting you know, so that you can consider whether you wish to nominate them for deletion again. JamesBWatson (talk) 10:30, 12 November 2012 (UTC)

Hello. Courtesy notification that I removed your CSD#G5 of the above, on the grounds that G5 applies to articles created in violation of a ban or block, with no substantial edits by others. This one does have substantial edits by others, namely me: when it was prodded some months ago, I added enough sourced content to confirm notability. While I understand the point of speedying poor-quality or disruptive creations by blocked/banned users, having suffered from a couple of serial offenders in my time, this article is (now) adequately sourced, and the subject passes WP:NFOOTY by having played in Liga I. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:53, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Juan Cutillas BLP prod
Hello. You may have made an assumption here. I removed the copyvio content again yesterday, and at the same time added a references section containing a link to the copyvio-ed item, a lengthy interview with the subject by a recognised sports writer on a reputable media outlet. The interview verifies enough of the infobox content to clearly justify my removal of the BLP prod, both yesterday and again a minute ago. As to the creator, it seems like an issue of competence to me: they just don't seem to understand that references are needed to verify content in an article. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:52, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
- That makes sense then: thought it was a bit odd you'd replaced the BLP prod when as far I was concerned the page was ref'd. That link does work for me (must have worked for the creator, as well, seeing as they kept copying from it) but I've added a sentence about his being a former Philippines national team manager and thus definitely notable, ref'd to 2 online newspapers. So hopefully now I'll never have to look at the page again :-) cheers, Struway2 (talk) 18:04, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

Laurențiu Brănescu
Good day sir,
I just wanted to calmly contest the decision to delete the article for Laurențiu Brănescu that I created yesterday evening. I was entirely aware that the article was previously created and also subsequently deleted, however, I believe that the player is now credible enough to obtain an article space on Wikipedia, and I did not create the article with any use of false information or un-notable material. Branescu has 3 full, first-team professional appearances to his name (thus making him noteworthy) and has recently completed a transfer to S.S. Juve Stabia in the Italian Serie B, where he is likely to be a starter following the departure of Timothy Nocchi. All of my information was accurate and also all of my references are cited on the page. Please feel free to contact me back after researching more on the issue. Being that I was not the original composer of the page that was previously deleted, I hope that you will consider my protest to delete this article after the efforts that I put for to abide by all criteria.

Hi, I have noticed that you proposed some articles that I created (namely Mikhail Kravchuk (footballer), Syarhey Ignatovich, Dzyanis Lebedzew) for deletion but then reverted them back. Just want to clarify - was it by mistake or was there any purpose? -BlameRuiner (talk) 08:12, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
Speedy deletion declined: Shaun Pearson
Hello Sir Sputnik. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Shaun Pearson, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: This version is considerably different to the previous version, and there are a lot more sources, some of which may be enough for teh GNG. This needs to go to AfD if you think it should be deleted. . Thank you. GedUK 12:16, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
Lars Fuchs assessment
Why exactly did you -revert- the edit to indicate the page was a stub? It is definitely no longer a stub, having references and providing at least a short overview. It may not be C, but it defintely isn't a stub anymore. Madcynic (talk) 17:37, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
- I respectfully disagree, and have requested an assessment on the WP:Footy page. Hope that is okay with you. Madcynic (talk) 08:51, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
Can you help me out
I found an article that has grounds to be deleted but the process for nominating it is just to complicated and I cant figure it out. Check out Sun Glow Window Coverings Products of Canada Ltd.. Its basically and page advertising this company and it only has sources from the company website and no good 3rd party sources. I would really appreciate the help. Thanks!

MVC soccer
I have noted that you have been reviewing the articles on the Missouri Valley soccer tournament. Just letting you know that 2009 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Tournament has been nominated for deletion by some guy from New Zealand... none of the others, just 2009. Thought you might wish to add your comments at: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2013 July 7... GWFrog (talk) 04:38, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Brayan Cortés
Thanks for your edits to this article. I have added two further references to provide evidence of notability, one from a Chilean national newspaper (emol.com, the website of El Mercurio) and the other from Chile's Fifa site. Please do not delete this article without consulting with me - happy to discuss further and seek out further evidence if needed. Would be grateful if you could remove the proposed deletion notice. Re-creation of deleted article
Hello, Sir Sputnik. Back in July last year, you put a PROD on the article Andrés Már Jóhannesson, giving as your reason "Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and who has not played in a fully pro league." The article was duly deleted, but it was re-created yesterday. It doesn't seem to me that there is any more evidence of notability now than there was a year ago, but I know very little about football, so I thought I would let you know, and let you decide whether you want to take it to Articles for deletion. JamesBWatson (talk) 08:37, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
hi deleting my pages???
Hi thanks for the message. I don't understand why you want to delete my pages. I have made up 2 very genuine pages about these footballers on here. Riechedly Bazoer has SIXTEEN separate references to it since I added the page in November last year which is more than 2 a month. He has played first team football this week for Ajax in a friendly and is set to play in the Eredivise this season. Also on Lawrence Shankland , the actual person tweeted me on Twitter thanking me for making it and has only been on for LESS THAN AN HOUR since I added it. I have taken my time and effort to do these pages and I also donate to Wikipedia. I believe these 2 footballers are rising stars in football and if these pages are deleted on wikipedia, I will leave. Many thanks and I await reply. Davezo33 (talk) 00:20, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
About deletion of two articles
Dear Sir Sputnik,
You put the tag of deletion in the following two articles with the reason Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and who has not played in a fully pro league!
These two players just join to Sepahan F.C. from Under-21 team. And the 2013–14 Iran Pro League will be their first appearance in Iran Pro League. How these players can play a full match in Iran Pro League, while the 2013-14 season still is not started!!!
I try to improve the articles, by adding some more reliable sources.

Your closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ali Fayez
I just wanted to let you know that when you closed this afd, you missed the fact that the article on Farhan Shakor was also under consideration. You also missed that Miguel Ramos García and Miquel Massana were under consideration at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jorge Giménez, though this case, I also have to disagree with your assessment that there was a consensus to delete. Sir Sputnik (talk) 16:25, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, I've deleted the extra three articles. I am happy with my assessment of the discussion. Stifle (talk) 16:46, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
Just out of curiosity, how many sources would be needed to make an article pass GNG in your eyes and what kind of sources. Cheers. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 17:07, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
Jade Bailey
Maybe the article needs to be semi-protected? The current editor seems to have an unstable IP which makes it difficult to engage in conversation or impose any sanctions. Sionk (talk) 17:30, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
Chippenham Park speedy
You might have missed that the club was promoted last season, hence the recreation of the article. They will also participate in the FA Vase. Cheers, Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:24, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
Professional sports
I was wondering what you think makes a professional sports league professional? That might help me clear up my puzzlement at the claim that professional indoor soccer is not professional? Thanks Mohrflies (talk) 02:39, 31 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response. I did a quick google of articles related to American indoor leagues over lunch and came up with these. It's front loaded to the earlier years because I began my search with the creation of the first MISL in 1979. I could have given you a few more articles, but I don't have the time right now and I need to eat. Thanks. Mohrflies (talk) 19:15, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

About creating articles for football players (when the article meets the creteria)?
Hello Sir Sputnik. About a month ago i created an article for a Brazilian football player (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Christian da Silva Fiel) that he signed with the Cypriot team APOEL F.C. and the article was deleted for the following reason: "Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and who has not played in a fully pro league". In the article's talk page you told me that we must wait for his debut with APOEL, before creating the article again, because until now he didn't played in any professional league.
My question is the following: The player already made his debut with APOEL on 31 July 2013, playing for 85 minutes against NK Maribor for the third qualifying round of the 2013–14 UEFA Champions League. Is that enough to restore the article now? In other words, is the article meeting the creteria now (after playing at the Champions League qualifiers with a professional team), or is a must to make at least one appearance in the domestic league (Cypriot league in this case) to meet the creteria and be able to restore the article? Thanks! Marios26 23:27, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for nominating the articles created by HIDECCHI2013 for speedy deletion. You saved me the trouble. Let me know if they are challenged, I'd be happy to help with this situation. Andrew327 00:49, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
Photo Copyrights
Rilwan Waheed and I are friends and I found that the picture on his wiki page ( File:Rilwan Waheed (Riley).jpg ) is a picture from Rilwan Waheed's official Facebook page, original photo link. That photo was taken from New Radiant's official facebook page and edited by me for his request, as the watermark on the pic is blurred and there's a Maldivian FA Charity Shield's picture on the right bottom corner too. I think that the uploader of the picture User:Haishamful is violating the copyright rules of wikipdia, by mentioning the picture as his OWN WORK. So, I kindly request you to check his contribution list, where it is seen that he has only uploaded pictures,Haishamful Contributions, because I do not think that he has uploaded any of the pictures according to the wikipedia copyright guidelines. Thank you! ZZ47 (talk) 09:37, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

One sentence is a substantive contribution, especially when the page is so short already; the point is that we G5 delete pages only when they're really the work of one person only. Nyttend (talk) 11:30, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Hervin Ongenda
Hello Sir Sputnik. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Hervin Ongenda, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The last AFD was recent, but in the meantime he has made his professional debut. So concerns in the last AFD have been atleast partially addressed. Thank you. ϢereSpielChequers 17:53, 4 August 2013 (UTC)
K League Challenge
Thanks for your contributions. Anyway, K League Challenge is a fully professional league. I edited this page with reliable sources that is maybe enough to convince you. Thank you. z4617925 (talk) 02:27, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
Hello,
You tagged Christian Rye for deletion. He plays in the Danish Superliga, so would it be correct to delete him?

Speedy deletion declined: Fraser Aird
Hello Sir Sputnik. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Fraser Aird, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The Skysports article wasn't there last time (as it hadn't been written then), so there's a least one source that may well be notable. So this version is different to the previous one. It needs to go back to AfD to see if he passes the GNG now. . Thank you. GedUK 20:55, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
