Transfermarkt @ Bernardo Ribeiro
"Sir": Transfermarkt is about as reliable as any other source used in WP. When you remove sources, you may wish to apply the decency of at least attempting to replace it with one that meets your degree of "sophistication" instead of leaving an article with an undue blemish. Yon know how to use Google, don't you? No wonder, WP largely resembles a garbage bin. It is not worth contributing. OAlexander (talk) 15:21, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

I've simply edited the article to convert it into a decent stub. Nyttend (talk) 15:11, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- I'd prefer that you take it to AFD. <bureaucracy>Since I've worked on it, it's no longer subject to G4.</bureaucracy> Lots of international footballers are notable (wouldn't most, or all, be, since they've played at the highest level?), so if you have reason to say that I've misunderstood, or that this is an exception to the normal situation, I think it would help if you'd explain that at an AFD. Nyttend (talk) 15:43, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- I read through the FOOTY guidelines, but I'm so unfamiliar with the sport that I'm not able to apply the guidelines properly. Nyttend (talk) 16:30, 10 May 2016 (UTC)

Dear Sir, thank you for your help with the contents! I really appreciate your job. As I still want my initial text to be on this page, I have quoted some reliable sources (RIA/Russian News Agency and RFS/Russian Football Union) to confirm it, but the websites I refer to are only in Russian. Would it be a problem? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Olga Kuzischina (talk • contribs) 13:39, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

transfermarkt (again)
Hi, I see from your Talk page that you're the expert on transfermarkt. Just wondering - I know that the site has a lot of "rumours" about transfers. But what about the lists of actual transfers - especially the list I had included in the Fali Ramadani article? Is that also user-submitted (the entire site?). It seems to me that is the reporting on the actual transfers that did occur is accurate, then perhaps this part of the site is acceptable? I'm at a loss to find an alternative source. -- HighKing++ 11:49, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- @HighKing: Everything one the site except news articles, which are generally written by third parties like the Deutsche Presse Agentur, can be modified registered users on the site, meaning it qualifies as self-published. Any information confirmed by Transfermarkt only, should not be considered verified. Sir Sputnik (talk) 15:44, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

Transfermarkt
Hi... I have checked each and every matches refereed by Kuipers over there and they are absolutely correct... So it's absolutely reliable as it's cross checked repeatedly by me and only then have I included it in the article... Please consider it... Thanks... Cricket246 (talk) 13:26, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
Sorry Sir but you have removed a source that is absolutely accurate and reliable as all other sources in Wikipedia... It's not at all unreliable and is rather the most reliable site for obtaining stats on football ref's career from the very beginning... I'm an ardent Kuipers follower that why I've cross-check it and it's absolutely correct... That's why I added it... Cricket246 (talk) 13:29, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
@Sir Sputnik: Can I please get some kind of a response? Please help... Cricket246 (talk) 13:53, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
@Sir Sputnik: Sir, one very important thing I wanted to point out... We can submit changes to Transfermarkt via a form but it's not incorporated then and there... We can suggest changes to the site but it is incorporated by the administration only after they have verified from reliable sources... Users can suggest changes to any website and then admins consider whether it's reliable or not... No information is incorporated without verifying and no user can directly change the site... we have made an error in interpreting the entire thing... So in that way it's not a self-published source or unreliable source... It's as reliable as any other source... I think we earlier made a great mistake in interpreting the exact words... Cricket246 (talk) 14:13, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Cricket, in Sir Sputnik's absence, there was a discussion held outside WP:FOOTBALL, where it was determined that the user-generated facet of Transfermarkt meant that it was not considered a reliable source, so it should not be used as a reference. I'm glad what you added you have been able to confirm as correct though as that should make it relatively easy to provide alternative references? Fenix down (talk) 14:23, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
@Fenix down: One very important thing I wanted to point out... We are terribly misinterpreting the thing here... We can submit changes to Transfermarkt via a form but it's not incorporated then and there... We can suggest changes to the site but it is incorporated by the administration only after they have verified from reliable sources... Users can suggest changes to any website and then admins consider whether it's reliable or not... No information is incorporated without verifying and no user can directly change the contents of the site... we have made an error in interpreting the entire thing... So in that way it's not a self-published source or unreliable source... It's as reliable as any other source... I think we earlier made a great mistake in interpreting the exact words... The main thing to note is that no user can directly change the contents of the pages other than the concerned authorities... I created an account and verified it myself... And also I compared it's stats for kuipers with 6-7 other sites and Transfermarkt was the complete and correct out of all those... Rest were all incomplete... Cricket246 (talk) 14:13, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- Two points then:
- Firstly, can you confirm how you know that submissions are incorporated by the administration only after they have verified from reliable sources? What reliable sources? That this is not shown means they are inherently unreliable, anyone can say they check something but if they don't show to what they sourced it then it is essentially not sourced. IN fact, I direct your attention to section 4.1 on their terms of use here. This explicitly states that the submitter is responsible for all data that is submitted and that it is not checked to any other source, merely that they reserve the right to check submissions. This is the very definition of an unreliable source.
- Secondly, your confirmation that your submission is correct does not mean anything. No one is saying there is not correct information Transfermarkt, more that there rigour in checking submissions is lax. This is a clear example of an editor faking submissions to Transfermarkt in order to fake an article.
- There is clear evidence from the site that they don't check everything and clear evidence on enWiki of a user using this to their advantage to create fake articles. This is why Transfermarkt should not be used. Fenix down (talk) 14:44, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- Two points then:
@Fenix down: Thanks for the extensive explanation... Helped me understand the entire thing quite clearly... Can you please suggest me some website specialising in football Referee career statistics? Cricket246 (talk) 15:03, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- No problem, I know it can be difficult finding relevant discussions in archives stretching back a number of years. I'm not really sure about referee stats as it is not an area I am involved in. I do know that SoccerBase keep a record for a number of leagues, though, whilst I have no personal reason to doubt their accuracy, I am not sure whether there has ever been consensus achieved that they are not a reliable source. Fenix down (talk) 15:21, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the help! Much needed one! Cricket246 (talk) 01:43, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

Bosnian biographies sockpuppetry
I just became aware of Special:Contributions/HankMoodyTZHankMoodyTZ and the surrounding issues. Have you checked the quality of the recent sock edits? I don't mean to encourage sockpuppetry, but in this case it seems Sporting Gijón actually is the right club. So blanket reverting might not be the best approach here. I haven't checked much of the remaining edits, so it's entirely possible that there were other problems with the socks that I missed. I'm just wondering whether it's worth the effort to go through the individual edits and check whether others also corrected errors or provided accurate information. Huon (talk) 21:36, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Huon: My experience with this editor has been that nothing short of a blanket revert would actually get them to stop socking, and it does appear to have accomplished that (at least for now). For most of their edits, I lack the necessary knowledge of the subject to easily tell if the changes made were correct, but it wouldn't surprise if they were. The editor was originally blocked for adding unsourced content and edit warring, and I certainly didn't see any evidence of that from the socks. Sir Sputnik (talk) 04:29, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
- I didn't realize that '''tAD''' was still blocked, so I took his silence as "no more objections" to my edit. There is bad blood between us since Brazil v Germany (2014 FIFA World Cup), where ending up it was other editors that agreed to my changes while '''tAD''' didn't participate further. Does '''tAD''' essentially get a veto over my changes to Disgrace of Gijón? JoshDonaldson20 (talk) 15:13, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
Patrick Weihrauch
I fully expect Patrick Weihrauch to make his 2. Bundesliga debut within the next couple of months. Kingjeff (talk) 03:09, 23 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Kingjeff: As do I, but that doesn't make him notable now. Speculation as to future potential appearances is never grounds for notability. Sir Sputnik (talk) 03:13, 23 July 2016 (UTC)
- I understand it doesn't make him notable now. But why delete an article that, with almost 100% certainty, will be eligible in less than a month? Kingjeff (talk) 03:45, 23 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Kingjeff: Why keep a non-notable article, when it can be restored at the click of a button if and when notability guidelines are met? Sir Sputnik (talk) 03:57, 23 July 2016 (UTC)
- I understand it doesn't make him notable now. But why delete an article that, with almost 100% certainty, will be eligible in less than a month? Kingjeff (talk) 03:45, 23 July 2016 (UTC)

Dejan Čugalj wikipedia page
Good afternoon Sir Sputnik. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dejan_%C4%8Cugalj this is Wikipedia page created by my side, from football player Dejan Čugalj from Serbia. This player played professional football in Serbia and Croatia in his young plays, and now he plays in amateur league in Germany, and in the next transfer period he will sign the professional deal in Germany in A team, Regionaliga. Other thing, he is very much all over the world wide web and very popular, so here you can check it, and Wikipedia is the only place where he is not in this momment, so I think that it is needed for sure, because Wikipedia is the biggest world encyclopedia.
web-site: www.dejancugalj.com facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Cugalj10/ twitter page: https://twitter.com/Cugalj10 transfermarkt page: http://www.transfermarkt.ie/dejan-cugalj/profil/spieler/376096# fussball.de page: http://www.fussball.de/spielerprofil/-/userid/01R5BQKQGS000000VS541L4JVT9HBH9R FuPa page: http://www.fupa.net/spieler/dejan-cugalj-976569.html Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/CugaljDejan
So, the player has followers from all over the world, including Serbia, Croatia, Germany, Bosnia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Canada ext. So, thank you very much and I hope that it will be online for all time, because it is really needed here on Wiki.
Regards, CEO of company Janko Tepsic, Ikens PR. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ikens PR (talk • contribs) 20:11, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Ikens PR: In order to have a an article on Wikipedia, a subject must meet certain criteria called notability. For footballers, the relevant notability guideline is WP:NFOOTBALL, which says that only footballers who have played for their country's national team or in one of the fully professional leagues listed here. For the countries question, the relevant leagues are the top three divisions in Germany, the top two in Serbia, and the Croatian First League. Čugalj has not played in any of these leagues, meaning he does not qualify for a Wikipedia article at this time. Additionally, as the CEO of a PR company, I strongly suggest you read Wikipedia's guidelines on conflict of interest, particularly the guidelines on paid editing. Sir Sputnik (talk) 20:32, 1 August 2016 (UTC)
WP:KARLSRUHER
There are a couple things You should know about WP:KARLSRUHER. First of all, it is an essay that contains "advice or opinions of one or more Wikipedia contributors." Therefore, it is not part of the Policies and guidelines of English Wikipedia. Second of all, WP:KARLSRUHER states "obviously in article prose, a shortened name can be used, once the proper name has been established, to make the text flow more easily. Equally in tables where there is a lack of space, abbreviations can be used, but this is rare on Wikipedia." In the prose, you can find that proper name has been established for several clubs in the prose. Also, in the fixtures and results table, it is very tight inside the table. This is why I no longer use goal difference in the table. Kingjeff (talk) 05:10, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Kingjeff: Why not join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Germany task force#2016–17 FC Bayern Munich season instead of here? Also, WP:KARLSRUHER represents a general consensus which is used on many articles, which you seem to be going against. Secret Agent Julio (talk) 06:31, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

Please check the article again, my 4th source links to page where various media articles from Dnevni Avaz (Primary Bosnian daily news) and Al Jazeera Balkans, are compiled and pictured, collectively confirming all of what has been claimed about the player, however they are pictures of media clippings, and in Bosnian, is this an issue? — Preceding unsigned comment added by VukanCrv (talk • contribs) 13:40, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
Jalalabad sports stadium
In my eyes, the appropriateness or inappropriateness of the move isn't relevant to the issue of G5 speedy deletion — an editor who isn't the creator has made a substantial alteration to the article, so it can't be G5 deleted. I'm also not comfortable moving it back, because STRUCTURE, PLACE is a common form of disambiguation in some contexts; see St Mary's Church, Hanwell for a random example. Being unfamiliar with football stadiums, I won't move it and won't stand in the way of a move; if you want to move it back, there's no technical issue that prevents you from moving it back (admin rights aren't needed), and I'm unaware of any policy/community consensus that would be violated if you moved it back. Invite to the African Destubathon
Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:12, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Hey. Can i create a page for a player, who hasn't got his debut in his club in a professional league, but has played matches for the U21 national team in for example UEFA Euro 2017? Fodbold-fan (talk) 13:03, 10 October 2016 (UTC)
- @Fodbold-fan: No, the guideline on the notability of footballers explicitly says that it doesn't cover youth football: Youth players are not notable unless they satisfy one of the statements above, or if they can be shown to meet the wider requirements of WP:GNG. The requirements for inclusion are debut in a fully professional league or for the senior national team of a FIFA member. I hope that clears things up. Sir Sputnik (talk) 15:43, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

Bulgarian footballers - articles for deletion
You have recently nominated for deletion Georgi Kremenliev, Nikolay Dichev, Pavel Petkov and Kiril Lichev. All these players comply with point 2 of WP:ATHLETE as they have played in Bulgarian Second League (or its equivalent B PFG) which is/was a fully professional league. Would you object if I remove the deletion notices from these articles? Thanks, Yavorescu (talk) 17:31, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
- @Yavorescu: I would object. Since the issue of full professionalism of the relevant league is still being discussed at WT:FPL, their notability remains unconfirmed. Sir Sputnik (talk) 14:35, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
- Sir Sputnik, you also nominated for deletion Tellur Mutallimov. But at WT:FPL there is a sentence about deletion of articles : "It might not provide valid criteria for an AfD nomination, or a noticeboard action or other dispute." So please be clear why you think this articles should delete? --Aabdullayev851 (talk) 18:09, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

Why did you reverted it? -Bijak riyandi (talk) 01:26, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Bijak riyandi: PoseidonPlanet is a sockpuppet of a banned editor, namely Antony1821 (talk · contribs). This is definitely not a threat i said that this was what was told to me. Also for all the ones that write here, i did not call the representation from the athlete in this last 12 hours.
I did in fact do my due diligence and researched before i made the page. all my facts and evidences are gathered befroe i created the page.
The warning i did receive was from them to me and not from me to you. I hope you understand clearly now and we could go back to you helping me.

The edit you have reverted yesterday was actualization of a long outdated page, including player history and statistics update and adding links to various external football database pages. There was no "removal of sourced content" except from dead links. You have actually been the second one to revert this edit within two days, pretty obviously without taking any time to even check its content. Since I definitely don't wish to waste my time on pointless editing, I will leave the page as it is; you feel free to re-add the updates yourself or not. 195.56.119.209 (talk) 09:19, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

Re:Sir Sputnik
i read all the guidelines and it says Failing to meet the criteria in this guideline means that notability will need to be established in other ways Please note that the failure to meet these criteria does not mean an article must be deleted; A person is presumed to be notable if he or she has been the subject of multiple published non-trivial secondary sources which are reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject. Players who have played, and managers who have managed in a fully professional league, will generally be regarded as notable.
i have read the terms and conditions and also all the guidelines and i found that this article can be on Wikipedia as he is notable. He has played professional matches and he has many independent sources to prove his records and information. Even Joshua Travagli and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derrick_Etienne are same notable Please check again and allow this article to be published on Wikipedia. - Failing to meet the criteria in this guideline means that notability will need to be established in other ways
- Please note that the failure to meet these criteria does not mean an article must be deleted;
- A person is presumed to be notable if he or she has been the subject of multiple published non-trivial secondary sources which are reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject.
- Players who have played, and managers who have managed in a fully professional league, will generally be regarded as notable.
i have read the terms and conditions and also all the guidelines and i found that this article can be on Wikipedia as he is notable. He has played professional matches and he has many independent sources to prove his records and information.
Even Joshua Travagli and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derrick_Etienne are same notable Please check again and allow this article to be published on Wikipedia.
Even we have article for
which are less notable than this guy
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PC_(footballer) which are less notable than this guy

@Sir Sputnik: The player will play in a top professional league (The Malaysia Super League) and sources are given through references. In Addition, his past information has also been given in the external links. It is noted that the links are in Hungarian, however as per WP:GNG, sources does not have to be in English as i quote from WP:GNG, Sources do not have to be available online or written in English.. Do you have any thoughts on this article? It was deproded by the creator. The article only mentions an appearance by a non-professional league in Cyprus, but when I redid WP:BEFORE for AfD it appears he signed for an A-League team in Australia, but I can't find any evidence of him having made an appearance. TonyBallioni (talk) 01:07, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
- @TonyBallioni: This all looks pretty clear cut to me. I've nominated the article for deletion. Sir Sputnik (talk) 01:56, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Vlad Dragomir
I'm hoping I could get you to reverse your decision regarding the speedy deletion of this article. The fact that he is signed to Arsenal is not something that's changed since the AfD. In fact three of the five editors commenting there, explicitly mention the transfer to Arsenal and that it is not sufficient for notability unless he actually plays for the senior team, which he has not done. Thanks in advance. Sir Sputnik (talk) 20:41, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I can. I checked carefully before making the decision that this article was no longer a candidate for speedy delete. The original AfD discussion was closed as delete on July 3, 2015. Since then Vlad Dragomir has received a good bit of notable coverage such as in The Mirror and also signed a contract with Arsenal in 2016. It appears Vlad lacked this coverage and the contract when the original AfD was discussed. As such it appears that circumstances have changed and he may be notable. This doesn't mean the article can't be deleted, only that it can't be speedy deleted. I suggest bringing up for an AfD.--SouthernNights (talk) 22:13, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
Kaspars Ikstens
I can see the point that player has not played a single National game for Latvia in senior level but the fact is that he is regularly on the game sheet for UEFA and FIFA qualifying games as a reserve goalkeeper so technically he takes part in that game, he is on lineup as per example attached Portugal-Latvia game link on BBC[2] so opposition side fans and pundits definitely are curious who is the reserve keeper.Hunter242 (talk) 23:57, 16 March 2017 (UTC)

I don't understand why you proposed deletion saying he hasn't played in a professional league. He currently plays for Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, which plays in the USL, which is a fully pro league, if you have an issue that he hasn't played a game yet with them they are playing a game tonight (3/25/17). He is under contract. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chargersrock54 (talk • contribs) 15:06, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

2016–17 Moldovan National Division
By your edit you've removed Best Goal Award. What's the difference between BGA which you removed, and this one? Thank You 5-ht (talk) 08:58, 28 March 2017 (UTC)
- @5-hydroxytryptamine: There are two key differences here: Presentation and relevance. The way the goal of the month is presented in a way that makes it very clear that this is an award, whereas in the National league article it was presented as if these were somehow the objectively best goals. In terms of relevance, the goal of the month is actually covered by other sources than just the announcement article on the Premier League website. Now that may or may not be the case for its Moldovan equivalent, but I can't tell simply from reading the article. If you want include something so inherently subjective, you need to demonstrate that your not putting undue weight on it. I hope that clears things up. Sir Sputnik (talk) 17:53, 28 March 2017 (UTC)

Absolutely not. This criterion is for when nobody else has made significant input, the same standard as G7. If you create a page, someone else moves it, and then you request G7 speedy, there's no way that it should be accepted. In the same way, deleting this page under this criterion would be entirely inappropriate. On top of that, you're asking me to delete a page when the creating address has not been blocked: do not request G5 unless the creating address or account has been blocked as a sockpuppet. Daði Freyr Arnarsson
I created article "Daði Freyr Arnarsson (footballer)" that was deleted early this year. Due to failing the WP:NFOOTBALL, not having taken part in a fully-professional adult league match. I re-wrote parts of the article again under "Daði Freyr Arnarsson", fixing the comments i got earlier and it was nominated for a speedy deletion (which i did not think was fair since i tried to re-write the content, not just post it again). Since then Daði has played his first adult league match and would meet the condition of WP:NFOOTBALL. [1] I've created a new version in my Sandbox <ref>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Ivar1988/sandbox<ref>, this article is not poorly written and i don't think we should delete it since the player is one of the most promising young goalkeepers of Iceland (plays with the most successful team FH and has played 13 youth games for the national team so far). The player is significant in Icelandic sport community and is as fully-professional as you can get in the Icelandic league (practices two time daily and is taken care of by the club). I want to propose that we create his article again either under "Daði Freyr Arnarsson" or "Daði Freyr Arnarsson (footballer)". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ivar1988 (talk • contribs) 11:05, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

- @Uncle Roy: There are two issues with that. Transfermarkt is not a reliable source, because most of its content is user-generated. Additionally, the Lebanese Premier League is not confirmed as fully professional (see WP:FPL), meaning that even if the appearances were reliably sourced, it would still not be sufficient to meet the notability guideline for footballers. Summarily deleting the reference to Transfermarkt for Kaizer Chiefs attendance because you have arbitrarily decided it is an unreliable source does not improve the quality of the article. First crowd attendance is not a subjective or contentious measure. The numbers on the cited page certainly passed the reasonableness test for SA soccer clubs. Second, if you don't like the source, find a better one, don't just delete it. Third the Wikipedia article on Transfermarkt is quite positive.Paulgush (talk) 21:02, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

The reference I added it pretty explicit to anyone able to read it. It means: "Applications for affiliation to the LIGA will only be considered for the purpose of deliberation of the members if the requesting sports entity is, at the moment of registering the request, qualified to compete at Serie A or B of the Brazilian Championship. It will automatically cease membership to LIGA in the event that the affiliated sports entity will compete in Serie C of the Brazilian Championship". It means only fully professional teams can compete at Primeira Liga. Since, Seria A and B are considered fully professional leagues.--SirEdimon (talk) 22:10, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

Lukas Kochanauskas
Hello you had set the page of Lukas Kochanauskas to the deletion, although Lukas has played in Latvian league, which is not a part of leagues that are not "full pro" from Your strange point of view. I dont actually understand how could that even be possible for A lyga to be semi-pro league and Latvian Higher League to be a pro league. I am working in one of the clubs in A lyga and I know the amount of semi-pro contracts that players have over here. it's beyond 5. While on the other hand in Latvia pro contracts are not even as near popular with almost half of the league being o a semi pro contract. It's must be a mistake. Otherwise the system is shambles.

- Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 10:06, 24 August 2017 (UTC)

- @Wgolf: Since it's an unsourced BLP, I've flagged the article for deletion per WP:BLPPROD. I voted keep on the AfD for 2014–15 Albanian Second Division, but after looking again today I'm not convinced the page can stand on its own; merging into Albanian Second Division might be a better option. As a WP:WikiProject Football regular, what's your take on it? Power~enwiki (π, ν) 02:47, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
- @Power~enwiki: It's tricky, particularly given the language barrier, but I think the keep result is a reasonable one. I think Fenix down, another WP:FOOTY regular whose opinion I respect, makes the most compelling argument here. It's hard to imagine a scenario where this league does not generate sufficient coverage for its seasons to meet WP:GNG, while the league directly above it is sufficiently covered for all of the players in it to be notable per WP:NFOOTY. For images of a living person, broadly this means either an image in the public domain, or an image where the photographer has given us express permission to use it. Please read the image use policy carefully before uploading any images. Once you've found an appropriate image, you can upload it using the file upload wizard. I hope that answers your questions. - @KrakatoaKatie: I'm just excited to get started, and glad that I can stop pestering Vanjagenije about clerk training. I guess my only question is what's expected of me going forward in the SPI cases that I'm already involved in? I've got about a half-dozen active sockpuppeteers on my radar at the moment. Since I'm not an administrator, do I keep reporting them as normal, or should I be doing something different as a trainee clerk, because now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever actually seen a clerk-filed SPI report. Sir Sputnik (talk) 15:39, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
- Report them as you usually would, but don't self-endorse. The clerks routinely file and self-endorse for CU attention if necessary; some self-endorse more often than others. Katietalk 20:42, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
- I've created User:Sir Sputnik/Clerking and I've given you a small assignment. And we're off! :-) Katietalk 20:54, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
- I'm so glad that you've joined the team I'm looking forward to seeing you around more in the future - we'll vanquish the infamous backlog eventually... GABgab 21:46, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- ...Also, I'm sorry for jumping ahead at the Michakellies case. I'll be sure not to usurp you in the future. GABgab 00:44, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
- No worries, besides I was going to need someone else to block the socks one way or the other. Sir Sputnik (talk) 00:49, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

FYI
- Another confirmed sock here...--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 23:58, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Ponyo: I get the distinct impression that I'm missing something here, because not really sure why you're telling about this sock. I'm not involved in the SPI, and it doesn't appear to be relevant to my clerk training. Sir Sputnik (talk) 00:08, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
- It was actually meant for User:SpacemanSpiff as a result of a ping at Commons. Spaceman...Sputnik...potato...potahto.... Sorry about that.--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 00:14, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

Reverting my "vandalism undo".
Hello,
As you might see here Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, this page was vandalized by someone (such as Operator: 10enerbahçe S.K.). This has no meaning and there is not a football club. Please revert the page so that it reflects the correct information. [3] will be a good version to revert (this is what I did actually). Thank you, --Wakeup12 (talk) 07:03, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
Giorgi Gvelesiani
I created this article about Giorgi Gvelesiani but the players correct name (with the capital letter on the last name) is protected from page creation due to it getting deleted so much for not meeting the criteria in previous years. Now, he meets the WikiProject Football criteria (3 apps 0 gls in Iran Pro League) but I cannot create it with his correct name. can you please unprotect the page for me so I can move my article there? I cannot get in touch with the user who protected the page (User:Tiptoey) because he is not active anymore and his last contribution was in 2015.
ThanksDas osmnezz (talk) 05:53, 14 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Das osmnezz: While it's generally a good idea to go to the protecting admin for this sort of thing, because they're more likely to know what's going on, any administrator will do. It seems another admin has already unprotected the page, so I've moved it accordingly. Sir Sputnik (talk) 13:25, 14 October 2017 (UTC)
The Proposed deletion of Deni Juric was asked of me and the question of there not being enough/reliable sources, however, there is enough information their otherwise I wouldn't of created the page and it can still be a stub.
Senior appearances
He hasn't made a senior debut in the LEAGUE which is what footballers appearances and goals are based on, however, if you need proof of a senior debut at Hajduk Split I can show you it's just not in the league.
page mover user right
Hello, Sir Sputnik. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect
is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.
Useful links:
- Wikipedia:Requested moves
- Category:Articles to be moved, for article renaming requests awaiting action.
If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Katietalk 15:09, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
Archiving
When you archive a completely new case, please make sure you leave behind the link to the archive. (e.g. Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Pakistani Wikipedian) ~ Rob13Talk 14:49, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- @BU Rob13: This happens automatically. If your not seeing a link, just perform a null edit and it'll update the page to display the link correctly. Sir Sputnik (talk) 14:52, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- Ah, you're completely correct. It just wasn't appearing a moment ago. Apologies (and great work around SPI recently!). ~ Rob13Talk 14:55, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
SPI age
Hi,
I highly recommend you use Writ Keeper's SPI staleness tool - just plug this into your common.js:
- mw.loader.load("/w/index.php?title=User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/cuStaleness.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript");
Thanks, GABgab 14:44, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
Sock puppet
What’s this about sock puppets? Indubitably58 (talk) 22:27, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Indubitably58: Sockpuppetry is the practice of using misusing multiple accounts. You were inadvertently caught up in a sockpuppet investigation into an editor who shares some of your interests. Given that it's pretty obvious you are not a sockpuppet, I closed the case in question. I hope that answers your question. Sir Sputnik (talk) 22:47, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
Re:Transfermarkt
Just changed the articles to an ESPN FC source, thanks for the warning.
Greetings, The Sandman (talk) 17:07, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
- By the way, is WorldFootball.net one I can use? I've seen it in a few articles. The Sandman (talk) 17:10, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

Clerking at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/日本古武道
Sir, a couple of days have passed following this and this with no further contributions. Is it time to finish the job? (For what it's worth, I agree with you, and a "hunch" doesn't seem to me to be good enough, but obviously that's for you to decide.)
