Information icon Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Scott Fenwick, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. The article Yuri De Jesus Messias has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and who has not played in a fully pro league.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Re: Yuri De Jesus Messias

[edit]

In order to have an article on Wikipedia, a subject must meet certain criteria called notability. For footballers, there are two relevant notability guidelines. The general notability guideline any subject that has received significant coverage in reliable sources is presumed to be notable. In the context of football, this means coverage that goes beyond routine sports coverage such as match reports, squad lists, player profiles, transfer announcements etc. It's quite rare for a footballer to meet this guideline without also meeting the other one. The football specific notability guideline says that a footballer is presumed to be notable if they have played for their country's senior national team or in one of the fully professional leagues listed here. Since had done neither of those, Messias does not meet this guideline either. I hope that clears thing up. Sir Sputnik (talk) 02:01, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
