Revert

[edit]

Today, I reverted your edit on Timeline of the Napoleonic era. The main reason for that is that your edits were completely unsourced. Wikipedia, as encyclopaedia, required reliable sources. I hope that you have time to read the article WP:RS so that you know what is needed.

I also noticed that with your edits you re-created a few links to disambiguation pages. For example, you linked to the Siege of Danzig. But when you follow that link, you will see that there are several events with that name. That is why the link should be Siege of Danzig (1813), to let it point to the right siege.

Good luck. The Banner talk 15:37, 27 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Russian intervention in Syria, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Russian intervention in the Syrian Civil War. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 22:03, 1 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

War in Donbass

[edit]

Please don't try to WP:POV-push content as you did here. The issue has been thoroughly discussed on multiple articles surrounding events in Ukraine. In the simplest of terms, this is not a 'claim by Ukraine': it has been established irrefutably internationally. Essentially, all you appear to be trying to accomplish is making a globally widely reported recognition of RF involvement appear to be an insignificant and dubious claim by Ukraine. While I am going to assume that this was a good faith error on your behalf rather than wishing to intentionally mislead readers, it casts doubts as to your ability to contribute productively. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 03:50, 11 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Russian Americans, but we cannot accept original research. A tag has been placed on Golden Warrior Monument, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. (See section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
  • It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Your contributed article, Statue of the Golden Warrior

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Statue of the Golden Warrior. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Golden Warrior Monument. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Golden Warrior Monument – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Fuortu (talk) 15:36, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello ShadowNinja1080. All or some of your addition(s) to Golden Warrior Monument has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 20:43, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem icon Your addition to Ramstore Bridge has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Cut-and-paste move

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Dinmukhamed Konayev a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Proposed deletion of Talan Towers

[edit]

The article Talan Towers has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Zero credible sources. No claim to notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello, Shadowzpaev. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Mahmoud Magomedovich Sheikh-Ali, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Moving articles without discussion

[edit]

"Correct transliteration from Kazakh" is not in itself a sufficient reason to move an article, particularly when transliteration systems vary over time. Typically wikipedia articles are not moved until the newly favoured spelling becomes the wp:Commonname. If any move is anything other than an obvious typo, wp:Requested moves is the process to follow. At the very least some discussion at the article's talk page should be attempted. For these reasons I have reverted your moves of Lake Kopa, Nurly Zhol, Ak Orda Presidential Palace, Zhas Otan, Aqmola Region ... Batternut (talk) 14:19, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I understand the mistakes and consequences I may have caused onto this and I wish not to ever do it again. Given how recent your violations were, there's essentially no chance you'll be unblocked there, either. Your best hope, though it's faint given your behaviour, is to wait six months with zero edits then apply under WP:SO. Yamla (talk) 12:36, 10 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

unblock?

[edit]

I've read your unblock request, but cannot decline it using my not-admin account. One problem is the request is quite vague and nebulous. You would need to state in your own words how things went pear shaped and what you would do to fly right. That would be for ordinary circumstances, and your circumstances are not ordinary. You've been blocked for WP:sockpuppetry. (Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Igor1383) You should probably address all issues on the original account. However, you should read about sockpuppetry first. Dlohcierekim's sock User talk:Dlohcierekim 05:47, 10 June 2018 (UTC) [reply]

Baiterek (Kazakh: Бәйтерек, Bäyterek, "tall poplar [tree]"), is a monumental building in Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan. A tourist attraction popular with foreign visitors and native Kazakhs alike, it is emblematic of the city, which became capital of the country in 1997.

The monument is meant to embody a folktale about a mythical tree of life and a magic bird of happiness: the bird, named Samruk, had laid its egg in the crevice between two branches of a poplar tree.[1] The 105m (344.5 ft.) tall structure rises from a wide flat base within a raised plaza. It consists of a narrow cylindrical shaft, surrounded by white branch-like girders that flare out near the top, supporting a gold-mirrored 22 m diameter sphere. The base contains a ticket booth and exhibition space, with two lifts rising within the shaft to the observation deck within the 'egg'. Entrances to the monument are sunk below eye level, reached by stairs from the surrounding plaza. It's somewhat similar to the Sunsphere (266 ft.) in Knoxville, Tennessee.[2]

The observation deck is 97 m above ground level, corresponding to 1997, the year that Astana became the nation's capital. It consists of two levels, one with 360 degree views of Astana and beyond, with a second, higher level, reached by a flight of stairs. The top level features a gilded hand print of the right hand of Nursultan Nazarbayev, the first President of Kazakhstan, mounted in an ornate pedestal. A plaque invites visitors to place a hand in the imprint and make a wish. Alongside the handprint, and also oriented in the direction of the presidential palace, is a wooden sculpture of a globe and 16 radiating segments, commemorating the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which was held several times in Astana.[3]

Replaceable fair use File:Dariga 2003.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Dariga 2003.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Begoon 07:41, 16 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Kok Tobe into Kók Tóbe Park. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 22:13, 13 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Parliament diagrams

[edit]

Hello ShadZ. Rather than add new parliamentary diagrams to Commons, can I suggest you update the existing ones there? This will save you having to then replace the links on articles, and mean that we don't end up with unused diagrams on Commons, or different language Wikipedias using different diagrams.

With regards to the most recent change to the Kazakh ones, the colour you've used for the appointed seats is unexplained and difficult to tell apart from Ak Zhol. Can I suggest you use the style at File:Kazakhstan Majilis 2016.svg to mark out the appointed seats instead? Cheers, Number 57 16:39, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rather than creating a new image to do this, could you just not update File:Parliament of Kazakhstan 2007.svg with the new format? Now we have an orphaned image on Commons. Cheers, Number 57 16:54, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Head of the Presidential Administration of Kazakhstan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://akorda.se/en/executive_office/executive_office_stucture/senior_leadership/chief-of-staff-of-the-president-of-the-republic-of-kazakhstan-yerlan-koshanov. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. First woman MP in Kazakhstan

[edit]

Hello ShadZ. I am trying to create a list of the first female legislators in each country. However, for some of the former Soviet republics, it's proving a bit difficult to get a straightforward answer. For Kazakhstan, it would have been a female member(s) of the Supreme Soviet of either the USSR as a whole or the Kazakh SSR. It's further complicated by the fact that it looks like the Supreme Soviets weren't directly elected until 1937/1938. From a list on ru.wiki, I managed to identify two Kazakh women who were elected in the 1937 Soviet Union legislative election (Olga Timofeevna Koteneva and Salih Ongarbaev). However, I have no sources to say they are the first Kazakh women MPs.

Are there any sources that give an answer to the question of who was/were the first female legislators in Kazakhstan (and if the first were not directly elected, also who were the first elected ones)?

You can see my list of outstanding countries (including the names I've got from that list on ru.wiki) here. If there are any others you can help with, that would be amazing. Cheers, Number 57 22:19, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Almaty Collage.png.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F4 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 08:45, 4 September 2022 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. Election infoboxes – reinstating incorrect information

[edit]

Hello. I'm usually a big fan of your work, but I was extremely disappointed by the reverts on the Kazakh election articles. I am happy to start an RfC on the matter (as I'm pretty sure no-one will be able to successfully argue that this infobox is a more effective summary than this; the only possible reason to oppose is simply a dislike of change as far as I can see), but in the meantime you reinserted incorrect information (and inconsistent spelling) into several articles by blindly reinstating the previous infoboxes. For example, 2004 Kazakh legislative election has an incorrect vote share figure for Nur Otan, and the old spellings of Mäjilis and Aq Jol, while the 2007 Kazakh legislative election was not an election for "all 107 seats", it was an election for 98 of the 107 seats (as the new infobox said before it was removed). It would be great if you could be a bit more careful (particularly as I mentioned the old infoboxes contained incorrect information in my edit summaries, and you reinstated them anyway). Cheers, Number 57 23:34, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Number 57, I'd like to appreciate your words regarding my work on English Wikipedia which I can say as one few rare Kazakh American editors here in my early 20s I didn't except that I would be here solely writing 95% of work for insanely-sized Kazakhstani neglected articles that otherwise would written by larger groups of contributors without pay just for few people interested in unexciting Kazakh politics to read it.
Regarding the usage of infoboxes and my reverts is that I'm not too fond of them, given them personally for me I'm used to seeing photos and faces people in the infoboxes which for some reason physiologically makes me vested in the article more since for some reason it reminds me of reading page of a journal magazine and makes it more memorable experience. Now to mention the fact legislative non-photo infobox based on my understanding is supposed to be used for elections where more than nine parties won seats and it's usage is made to represented every single winning party in the vote, which never happened before so far in Kazakhstan's elections since it's basically been a dominant/one-party system since 1999.
Another issue is that bunch of election articles, specifically parliamentary/legislative ones, is now inconsistent usage of the infobox templates there. Like I can now go from one parliamentary election article to another and see a completely different format which basically just confuses things more. This takes into account of what I noticed trend here basically most of the "stereotypical developed countries" where such as the US, UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Portugal, Czechia, Poland, Sweden, Turkey and so on get to have their "visually-appealing imagery" election pages with the photogenic party leaders in infoboxes of the results, while the rest of lesser-interested countries are stuck with the legislative infoboxes which I find that confusing and personally unfair. As for incorrect information stated in infoboxes, I would apologize for unintentionally reinstating the prior-fixed discrepancies and will try to go back and fix them for now. ShadZ01 (talk) 19:37, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Your work is amazing, and I do commend you for it. However, I do have to disagree on the infobox matter. The issue with the old infobox is that it seems to have been originally designed for US presidential elections – hence the large photos of individuals. However, it is not logical to have large pictures of party leaders for an infobox for a parliamentary election – if any image were suitable to be shown, it would be the party logo, as people are voting for parties not people.
It is not correct that {{Infobox legislative election}} is only to be used where 9+ parties win seats. It was originally developed as a more effective summary for elections with large numbers of parties winning seats, but is now used for many countries where fewer do (for example, Bulgaria). You also might want to check the Italian article again, as there was recently an RfC that resulted in that series adopting the legislative infobox.
The arguments you have put forward are about personal preference, rather than the cold facts that one infobox does a better job of summarising information than the other. This is not a fairness issue, simply an improvement. Cheers, Number 57 20:05, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, this is me again. As you are one of the very few people very knowledgeable on Kazakh politics, I'm sure that you've heard of the arguably most "loud" trial in Independent Kazakhstan's history, the trial of Quandyq Bishimbaev. Do you think that its notability would be enough for a separate article on enwiki? I've been thinking about starting one, but I worry that it may not be "notable enough", so I decided it's better to ask you first. I may not be too familiar with all the legal terminology, but I'm willing to help with the article. I personally think this legal case's infamy in and outside of Kazakhstan could make it notable enough for a separate, chronological article. What do you think? Nursultan Malik(talk) 13:43, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Judging by the environment, I could see it being notable especially if there could be Russian and Kazakh language version of a potential Wikipedia article. Just try looking at other examples of any criminal related articles on Wikipedia for the idea and understanding on how it could be laied out. Like for instance I think it could be titled something like Murder of Saltanat Nükenova. If you're still confused, just try looking at these: Category:Murder trials. ShadZ01 (talk) 05:52, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We reached a consensus on the Kazakh Wikipedia groupchat, decided to make the article and call it "Бишімбаев ісі" ("Legal case of Bishimbaev", as in ru:Дело Симпсона, ru:Дело ГКЧП and etc), as I understand, it is still not officially decided, whether it was a murder or not, so this is the more neutral name for it. I'm currently writing the article and it will be out soon. Will make sure to translate it to English, too. It could be called Trial of Quandyq Bishimbaev in English, maybe? Hello, ShadZ01

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username 1ctinus, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, 2021 Rockford mayoral election, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|1ctinus}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Possible Mäjilis website license change

[edit]

The official Mäjilis website has had a redesign and the CC 4.0 International license was removed. Could this mean that all the new images are now not free? What should we do? Me and Caner Özyayıkçı have already uploaded Mäjilis images since the update and this may now mean that they must be removed.. Nursultan Malik(talk) 22:22, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I also recently noticed that the Creative Commons 4.0 license was removed from the website, and there is now no copyright notice at all. This change has created confusion about the legal status of the site's content. Without a clear statement, it’s difficult to know whether the material is still protected by copyright or if it is now available for public use.
Given that this is a government-related site involved in lawmaking, it seems unusual that such a change would happen without any warning or explanation. Typically, in other countries, changes like this would come with an official notice to make sure users understand what their rights are regarding the content. The absence of any copyright information could lead some people to assume that the material is now free to use, but it’s not clear whether that’s actually the case.
I do believe there was an intention by the Majilis to make all their copyrighted works public domain or free to use considering the absense of it. The problem is they did it the wrong way by not including a different statement like "All materials are free to use without copyright protection" or using symbols like CC0 or Public Domain Mark would make it clearer due to Kazakhstan's copyright laws that make authorship protection apply even if there’s no explicit copyright symbol. To avoid any misunderstandings, I believe it would be helpful for someone—perhaps from Kazakh Wikipedia community or WikiBilim—to contact the Majilis press service and ask for clarification. If the copyright notice was removed as part of a website redesign without considering the legal implications, this could potentially lead to issues in the future. It would be good if we can get a clear guidance from the appropriate authorities before assuming the content is free to use. In the meantime, I think it’s best to avoid uploading images from the site until we have more information before we can delete something. I hope this can be resolved soon to avoid any further confusion.
I also don't get why Kazakh government photos and videos are copyrighted as if they're some private businesses, while documents, postage stamps, and state symbols are made available for public use. They honestly should make it all publicly free, similar to how works produced by the U.S. federal government are. This could really help out Kazakh Wikipedia and Kazakh language popularity, and I’m astounded that WikiBilim has done nothing to address this problem or do anything significant since 2012. ShadZ01 (talk) 22:52, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I do agree that the gov should just release all images made by gov workers as free just like the US but unfortunately we have what we have. I will contact others and see what we can do regarding contacting the press service. Nursultan Malik(talk) 10:47, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I think simply anyone with Kazakhstan phone number could try doing that. I myself attempted one time to contact the Auyl party via Skype cell service to ask them for licenses photos and I remember some guy from the party got suspicious from my non Kazakh phone number and asked me where I was calling from and then he just quickly just hung up the phone… ShadZ01 (talk) 19:18, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
