I am sorry

I am sincerely sorry for posting a fake page, and wasting your time. I assure you it will not happen again ): EnycesFinestx (talk) 01:09, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello. You nominated my page The_Gekko_-_Wall_Street's_to_Main_Street's_Ultimate_Power_Shirt for deletion. I just wanted to let you know that I will have the correct references in a couple of days. I posted the page live so the people I created the page for could see it. If you would like, I could send you the finalized page once I get the correct references. Also, did I upload the image wrong? Thank you. SRELY&P —Preceding unsigned comment added by SRELY&P (talkcontribs) 04:59, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Archives

It's been nominated. Not sure if you knew. Nancy talk 12:15, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on How to publish on wikipedia, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because How to publish on wikipedia is a redirect page resulting from an implausible typo (CSD R3).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting How to publish on wikipedia, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 01:10, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

No prob!

I tell you, I just want to tear my hair out over this sort of thing. I used to write ad copy and I won a few awards for my efforts. I wish to heaven I could make people understand that this site is totally lame as an advertising medium. Oh, well. We persist.  :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 03:44, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Chicken Wing

If you have a problem with me, talk about it with me, don't talk about me behind my back.— dαlus Contribs 22:05, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
Mr. Vernon, I appreciate your concern in this matter. I'd prefer not to discuss it though. I figure not everyone can get along with every editor. My reasoning for not wanting to address the editor in question would probably only make things worse if I explained it. I prefer to just create articles and edit them, and I can't do that if I am being dragged to the WP:ANI or getting blocked. Chicken Wing (talk) 23:13, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

I suggest you read through the above link, because what I posted on the ANI was not an attack, it was letting CW know what he was being a jerk. The only reason he won't respond to me isn't because he has some sort of policy, it's because he thinks I'm an idiot. He made that very clear when I decided to disagree with him about his proposal to change the blocking policy. So, instead of taking a side without knowing the full story, not to mention talking about me behind my back, take the time to review all the material.— dαlus Contribs 06:06, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

First, get a grip. Maybe he just doesn't want to argue with you, because you have been argumentative from what I've seen of your behavior in the AfD. I don't care about your prior drama with him. Second, you were talking about me behind my back over at Gwen's talk page [2], so don't act all high-and-mighty about it. Take Gwen's advice and chill. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 06:21, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
I didn't mention you, I mentioned an edit you made, about me, behind my back. I was not asking her how I should deal with you, I was asking her what I should do, so don't make it into something it isn't.— dαlus Contribs 07:04, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
Whatever, I'm not getting dragged into your issues with other editors, and apparently paranoia over someone "talking about you behind your back." If you have issues with me, take it up with WP:AN. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 07:12, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
Paranoia? You did talk about me behind my back, period. You opened a thread about me, on another user's talk page, that's called talking about someone behind their back.— dαlus Contribs 07:24, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Tagging of NetWaiting et al. for Speedy Deletion

I don't think A7 can be applied for this article. It appears to be a pre-installed application that comes with certain computers. By the way, I was glad to see the userbox saying you don't support Nazism, if I hadn't seen it I would have assumed otherwise.

Just kidding of course. :) XenocideTalk|Contributions 02:09, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Check out the user's contributions: [[3]]. FYI, he's not exactly reliable. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 02:13, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Regardless of his other edits, this article would appear to be legitimate. As it is sourced, though not necessarily reliably, I would have to think that this would not apply for speedy deletion in any case. Adding that this article's subject appears to be notable, I would think that at worst this article should be applied for AfD or merged with the appropriate Dell computer's article, and at best kept independent. XenocideTalk|Contributions 02:22, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

I think you gave this final warning to Samlaptop85213 (talk · contribs) in error. The CSD tag was removed by StealthPanda (talk · contribs), who was not the creator of the article. Could you strike out that warning? Thanks, Cunard (talk) 07:17, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

(Responding to talkback template) Might as well strike it out, I have indef'ed Samlaptop85213 for a pattern of disruption rather than any one violation. LessHeard vanU (talk) 12:36, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Rex Armistead

I'm rather surprised at this nomination.

Rex Armistead has been a red link in several articles surrounding the Starr report, the Arkansas Project and the suicide of Vince Foster. He was a notable participant in the Jackson State killings, the Mississippi State Sovereignty Commission and in controversies in the election of governor Bill Allain. He is covered in several books on both the Mississippi segregation era and in the attempts to smear Bill Clinton in the 1990s. In the article I put up there are fourteen different reliable sources alone that mention him. He pops up all over the place.

Yes, the article makes him sound like a bad man, but that's what he appears to be, and that's what the judges in Armistead v. Minor said was substantially true. The original trial was thrown out because the judges claimed his reputation was so bad anyway, libel wasn't possible.

I'm assuming good faith on your part, but did you actually look at the details of the article, including the citations?VsevolodKrolikov (talk) 06:08, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Just so others don't get left out, I've copied this section and the one on my talk page to the article talk page to create a single conversation. Many thanks for your willingess to debate the issue.VsevolodKrolikov (talk) 06:44, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Just a courtesy notice on Nicole Levin. You had tagged this as a G11 speedy and another admin deleted it. The article's creator asked for a review, and I'm not seeing the unambiguous promotion in the article, so I restored it. However, notability is not at all clear, so if you still think it should go, feel free to take it to AfD. (I'm assuming the creator will contest a prod.) Jeanie Cunningham

Hi Mr. Vernon, I stumbled across the page Jeanie Cunningham, which I see you have tagged a few times for speedy deletion as an article about a musician not indicating the importance of the subject. Based on my reading of WP:BAND and of the article itself, it seems that the author's creator has established a sufficient enough claim of notability to prevent the article's immediate deletion under CSD A7, so for the time, I am removing the CSD tag while I look for valid secondary sources supporting the subject's notablity. If none can be found, I'll PROD the article or send it to AFD. I just wanted to explain why I was removing the tag. Best wishes! Rising*From*Ashes (talk) 09:38, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Fur-Piled

Hello Mr. Vernon, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of Fur-Piled - a page you tagged - because: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. Ale_Jrbtalk 10:51, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Not Inappropriate

There is absolutely nothing inappropriate about the term Dunkus Squat and should not be deleted. Unless, of course, you have some moral authority that enables you to decide the dialect of all regions. The words, nor the definition, have any inappropriate meanings.

It's fairly apparent you consider yourself in extremely high regard and have the ability to discern worthy from unworthy articles; appropriate from inappropriate text; and important from wasteful dialogue! Let me assure you, nobody is considering you to be of any importance. Find a new little hobby to help get through the boredom of unemployment.

Speedy deletion of "ePiq"

Hi! EPiq was speedy-deleted - having read the definition of A7 ("no indication of importance or significance"), I am unsure of how to satisfy this criterion. The ePiq Society has existed for a number of years, currently has around 100 members in various countries, and been referenced by a good number of web pages. Its significance to non-members is that it provides a framework to discuss matters of interest to individuals of verified high intelligence, and forms an outlet for the exchange of experiences specific to this section of the general population. Would including any of this information be acceptable as an "indication of importance or significance", or even amount to notability?

Thanks for your time - Tz 98 (talk) 03:33, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Hello! I understand there were issues regarding my 'the location of heaven essay'. yes i understand there were no sources, but indeed it is all fact, and also it ties many things together, such as religion and science. yes i know it was just MY religion, however though if you take the time to look there is a lot of evidence to back it up. i just thought the world could look at the world...no, universe, with fresh eyes. I understand that, yes i will be persecuted because of my beliefs, but i dont care. people need to know some of my statements and thoughts, because one day, you may find that they are true. Innovatology

Mr. Vernon, thank you for your input on my post for the new science of Innovatology. It is good that you work diligently to challenge new entries to insure validation. The same collaborative concept that led to the world's great contribution to recorded humanity with Wikipedia is the driving force behind Innovatology. The purpose for this recorded detail on Innovatology is to help promote an understanding and a human evolutionary movement to increase the world's creativity capacity. Wikipedia is the ideal repository for the collective information gathering on this new science. Now that the movement has begun, future generations will benefit greatly from the chronicles of its progress and documentation of its success. Your help in making this key recording of historical advances in the creative conscious of the world is most welcome. Thank you. Advice and detailed description how to post my career biography

Hello,

I would like to have a page (article, or whatever it should be called) to be posted on Wikipedia about my career.

I am a notable musician and feel my biography should be on Wikipedia. I've also had several requests from colleagues and fans for it to be posted. I see that many of my colleagues have their biographies posted on Wikipedia (John Abercrombie, for example, and I would like my page to be of similar structure), and would like to know specifically how you suggest I go about getting my page included that would satisfy Wikipedia's rules, regulations and criteria. I understand I cannot post my own biography. Please tell me who you suggest would be the best source to post my biography on Wikipedia, so that it does not get deleted by an editor such as yourself.

I would like to also say that my career as a musician is proven to be notable, and a look at my website at http://www.terrysilverlight.com will show all the publications that have written about me, and all the work that I have done that has been published, successful, and notable. Thank you.

Regarding deletion of Newgen Software Technologies

Hi Vernon, I read the comments regarding the deletion of my article on Newgen Software Technologies. I can edit the content and add more relevant links if you like. Most of the reference links were press releases and very valid public sources. I would request you to reconsider your decision. The sole aim of the article is to provide information and not to promote any of its services or products. Imroz.adeeb (talk) 13:50, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I have declined the speedy deletion on this, reluctantly, because A7 doesn't apply to fictional elements like this. If the source were a web-comic one might argue that it met the "web content" element of A7, but I'm not sure this one has even got as far as the web; a quick "findsources" search doesn't find anything significant about the weapon, its inventor, the comic or the author. So it certainly fails WP:N, and I have PRODded it. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 18:48, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Eric Freeman (writer)

Mr. Vernon, concerning the deletion of Eric Freeman (writer), are you saying this needs to be totally written by someone else? Or just needs to be more significant (which I can do)? Everything on the page can be verified via Lifestreaming and Head First (book series) 24.16.253.11 (talk) 05:29, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Basically, yes. Read WP:AUTOBIO, which talks about why. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 05:37, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

I get it (and read the link), but I'm stating facts that are already distributed throughout wikipedia, there is nothing subjective about "person X wrote book Y". 24.16.253.11 (talk) 05:43, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Well, it's subjective if you think you are notable enough to have an article about yourself on Wikipedia. WP:BIO has some useful guidelines on what counts. You really need to show more than just co-authoring a few books - are you personally the subject of articles, etc.? Just because the book may be notable, doesn't mean you are. Make sense? --Mr. Vernon (talk) 05:51, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Understood, your page Lifestreaming lists me as a co-inventor of the Lifestreaming concept used across the industry. 24.16.253.11 (talk) 05:57, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Right. Lifestreaming certainly should have a page, and you should be mentioned as co-inventor. But notability isn't inherited; the notability of Lifestreaming doesn't make you notable. Give another example: I worked on a piece of software which met notability guidelines, and has a page here, as does the professor who ran the software project. That doesn't make me notable, though. Not that I mind :) --Mr. Vernon (talk) 06:02, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

And you are making the Lifestreaming (worthy) vs Eric Freeman (writer) (not-worthy) judgement based on what criteria?24.16.253.11 (talk) 06:08, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Please read WP:NOTABILITY on general notability guidelines and WP:BIO in particular for people. Lifestreaming has the secondary sources and depth of coverage listed as listed in the Notability guidelines. I can't find that depth of coverage on you, sorry. Besides, as mentioned before, you should not be writing articles about yourself. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 06:13, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

There's plenty out there. 24.16.253.11 (talk) 06:19, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi there - Mr. Freeman. Welcome to Wikipedia. I heard that you were having troubles, and I hope that I might be able to help you a bit.
Firstly, please make sure you always log in to edit things, even when just leaving messages - so we see it's from Erictfree, rather than 24.16.253.11. It saves me getting all confused.
I'm honoured to 'meet' you, as I find this whole idea of lifestreaming very interesting. I hope we'll get a chance to discuss it more.
Now, about this 'notability' stuff. It's really nothing personal; 'notability' has a very specific meaning on Wikipedia, and we define it as, "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the source". Please look at that link - that is the key to the whole thing, it really is. For any subject - be it a person, a company, a band, species of animal, or any of the other thousands of subject types - the requirement is the same. What it boils down to is, the need for several reliable sources, such as newspaper articles, books, magazines, etc - with substantial information about the specific thing the article is about.
A 'reliable source' is something with a "reputation for fact-checking and accuracy", something with "editorial control" - and, to show notability, it needs to be independent too. We don't have black-and-white rules, but I'm sure you can understand that a home webpage is not enough.
So - something like an article in the Times newspaper, about a person, would be one good source - but we do need several. I advice people starting an article to look for sources first, and as a rule of thumb, if they can't find 3 or more good-quality reliable sources, then the subject probably is not 'notable' in Wikipedia terms.
And that, in a nutshell, is the primary problem with the article.
IF you think that you can show this 'notability', then there are a few other concerns. As the subject of the article, you have a conflict of interest - and we strongly advise against writing it yourself. It is very, very hard to be neutral, and to stick to verifiable facts from reliable sources - there are so many things that you, naturally, just know are true - but sadly, we cannot accept claims that we can't check - which means we need references.
I have two bits of advice;
  • Before working on an autobiography, edit some other articles - on any subject at all. You'll soon learn more about the way Wikipedia works, and you'll be in a much better position to then deal with the tricky business of COI. There's plenty of articles that need work - try here, for example.
I certainly hope you'll help us make Wikipedia better, and I'll do everything I can to help you. Hope to speak soon. Chzz  ►  06:51, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Thank you these are great suggestions. Apologies I didn't realize I was logged out. I will also look at the sample links. There are plenty of articles that can be referenced (Technology Review, WIRED, etc.). It sounds like I should really have someone else provide these rather than me? Erictfree (talk) 07:56, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

I've declined the speedy deletion tag you placed on the above-captioned article; my understanding is that there is a claim of notability in the article sufficient to do that, because someone competing as a professional tennis player meets the requirements of WP:ATHLETE. You are of course welcome to nominate this article for an articles for deletion discussion; should you require assistance with that, please feel free to leave me a note. Best of luck with your future contributions. Accounting4Taste:talk 17:14, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Robert J. Bentley

Hello. Looks like some anonymous IPs are blanking out the majority of the Robert J. Bentley article. I have been trying to work on taking out commentary and ensuring neutrality but deleting most of the article on the grounds that it is "not sourced" seems iffy. As the material is not controversial, sourcing to the campaign website should be adequate right? Anyway, guess I am at my 3 revert limit, so maybe this is worth taking to a noticeboard. Thanks! "Vandalism/Test"

Did you even bother to read the edit summary I wrote?

Right now, Stanley Watras does not redirect to anything explaining what, who, or anything else, about Stanley Watras. The name isn't even mentioned.

Accusing me of "vandalism" for changing the article to the last version that actually did is outrageous, as is changing it back to a redirect that leaves the reader completely confused and uninformed. If you don't like that the article exists, get it deleted, don't change it to a random redirect.--66.149.58.8 (talk) 00:48, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

The consensus on Talk:Stanley_Watras was that the redirect should be put in place, and they explain why. If you have an issue with that, you are more than welcome to discuss that on the Talk page, or read Wikipedia:Dispute_resolution. Thank you. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 00:54, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
There was no "consensus" on the talk page, EEng said he was going to do it and did it, without input. Nobody made any comments, likely because few people knew it was being done. Since when has it been "vandalism" to undo a change that's clearly wrong, simply because the person who did it announced they were going to do it on the Talk: page?
Let's look at what you've done here:
* You've made a bogus accusation of vandalism against me
* You've asserted that there is a consensus about what the article should be and that nobody should change it, when no discussion has ever taken place.
* You've reverted the page to a link that does not, in any way, explain what Watras is, effectively turning the article into an almost random redirect, leaving the reader completely confused.
Respectfully, knock it off. I don't appreciate being slandered here, and I fail to see why you're so hell-bent on making Wikipedia, objectively, more confusing and less informative (which you have to admit is what you've done by changing the article to redirect to a page that does not discuss or even mention the subject of the article.) --66.149.58.8 (talk) 01:07, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
Point made. I will nominate the redirect for deletion. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 01:11, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Tieleman is more notable than you are

I read through your speedy deletion nomination and your rationales for the AfD, and also see that you wish to persist in having this bio of one of BC's most notable contemporary journalists and political figures deleted - for reasons which don't seem to ahve much more to do than with rigid interpretations of badly-written WP:Bio guidelines and the issue of what is and isn't a verifiable/reliable source....it's not surprising that the mainstream media in BC mbarely mention Mr. Tieleman, he's one of their most outspoken critics.....I'm not sure who you are or why you've aimed your deletion-crazy sights on this bio, but BC is a heavily politically charged place and if you're not involved in BC politics you should butt out and read the content, rather than obsessing over wiki-"rules". If you are from BC, shame on you and I have to wonder what your political motivation is; actually no, I don't have to guess, it's clear as day. If you're not from BC and just don't know about this guy, or about the political crises that he's one of the few reporters being honest about, let me tell you you're out of your depth and should take your admin powers elsewhere.....and I don't care a fig for wikiquette or "behave welcomingly" when I see inane attempts to challenge the notability of genuinely and importantly notable figures. Either you're a political operative, or you're just politically uneducated. Here's a summary of who Tieleman is, at least in part:

Another person who has raised questions regarding the RCMP’s handling of the investigation is Bill Tieleman. Tieleman is a political columnist and left-wing political strategist who has written extensively about the B.C. Rail investigation ever since the RCMP conducted an unprecedented raid on the B.C. Legislature on Dec. 28, 2003.
In December 2007, in a bizarre incident reminiscent of past RCMP dirty-trick campaigns, Tieleman returned to his office to find it ransacked and materials related to B.C. Rail pulled from his filing cabinets and placed prominently on his desk. Tieleman regarded the break-in as an attempt at intimidation by persons unknown who were obviously very unhappy with his in-depth coverage of the RCMP’s investigation.< http://www.themarknews.com/articles/1855-tracking-the-b-c-rail-trial>

But that's just about BC Rail, he's also been a major NDP cabinet/campaign adviser and has spearheaded, with former Premier Bill Vander Zalm, the massive public resistance to the HST which includes the largest recall petition in Canadian history. Instead of obsessing over rules (badly written rules) you should read the content and get a bloody sense of proportion. Again, if you're not aware of BC politics, you're not qualified to decide if he's notable or not; and if you ARE aware of BC politics, your attempt to get him deleted can only be seen as a POV maneouvre by a political plant who's got himself some admin powers but doesn't deserve them. PS don't threaten me with wiki-action for not being polite; I could care less about talking politely to people who don't behave politely; which if you're knowledgeable about BC politics, you're clearly being impolite by trying to get a major political figure's bio deleted. And if you're not knoweldgeable about BC politics, then just cease and desist and leave the Big Politics to the grown-ups. Escapades like yours give Wikipedia a bad name.....Skookum1 (talk) 03:09, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

CSD A7 on Nate Costa

Hi, I wanted to let you know that I have challenged your WP:CSD A7 on Nate Costa. In my opinion, the article, even in the state it was in when you nominated it, contained claims of importance sufficient to survive criteria A7. Remember, that all an article needs to do is have a claim of importance, a far lower standard then is applied when considering notability. Additionally, the article had broken references, when considering an article for deletion, you should be careful if you see any citation error messages. A broken citation can make an article appear far worse then it is. Monty845 05:50, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

Hello, you nominated to delete a former U.S. Army sniper who has written a memoir detailing an illegal assassination attempt of one of the last century's leading tyrants, Saddam Hussein. You nominated to delete a person who was told by leading U.S. government politicians including President George Bush to keep the mission a secret after several U.S. soldiers died on the mission including his sniper partner because of poor planning and execution. Hi Mr. Vernon. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. It was moved to their userpage. I have reverted the csd. Don't worry, I was just doing so as it was userfied. The redirect is being csd'd as R2, though. :) LikeLakers2 (talk | Sign my guestbook!) 15:49, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

I doubt the article will stand at AfD unless actual sources can be found, but I do not see how it remotely qualifies as a hoax, let alone an obvious hoax. David Rowe (poet) wiki page

Dear Mr. Vernon,

In the age where the poetry in it's true sense is almost extinct, in the world filled with phonies, there are only few out there who work sincerely and relentlessly to keep the soul of poetry alive. David Rowe lives and breaves poetry. His life is poetry in and out of itself. Without poetry he does not exists. He has spend 20 years of his life writing and reading in New Orleans and around the country as well as abroad. He is a master wordsmith and a yet undiscovered by masses talent of great strength. Please don't delete this page. It is, just like David's life and career, a work in progress.

9/11 Consensus Panel

I reviewed your speedy deletion tag on 9/11 consensus panel. I actually deleted it at first, but then reverted myself--it's a very close call. It is true that notability is not inherited, and thus the presence of famous people on the panel is not enough to establish notability, but I think it is enough to count as a "claim of significance or importance". As such, I realized that to be sure I should send the article to AfD. You may wish to comment there, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/9/11 consensus panel. Again, I don't actually think the tagging on your part was wrong--this was a very close decision, and unless somebody suddenly finds a bunch of references (which I couldn't find through my own searches), I expect it to be deleted at AfD. Qwyrxian (talk) 06:16, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. I do agree it was a tough call, their claims weren't really backed up IMHO (that and a relative lack of notability among the panel members.) --Mr. Vernon (talk) 06:21, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
I also just declined your speedy deletion of Chris Xaver; hosting a tv show carried nationally on multiple PBS channels seems like a claim of importance to me. It is clearly an autobiography, but it may be salvageable. Qwyrxian (talk) 06:30, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Please read the links on edit warring that I posted to your Talk page. Right now, you are engaged it in which is a violation of Wikipedia policies. That you believe it is a reliable source isn't relevant because Wikipedia operates on consensus, and the consensus is apparently that is is not a reliable source. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 09:14, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Are you saying that one person is the entire consensus just because he's experienced? Also I don't see him getting any warnings for any editing war so how is that fair? Jamcad01 (talk) 09:20, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Apparently you are the only one who believes it is a good source, because many other editors are undoing your changes. Have you tried discussing it on the Talk page like other editors have suggested? Oh and by the way, attacking other editors is also against WP policies. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 09:22, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Attacking Wisdom69 is still attacking another editor. As I suggested, go to the Talk page and make your case why it should be a source. Other editors can come to a consensus. That's the only way to resolve this situation, but you will have to respect the consensus of WP editors. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 09:27, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Why does it need to be discussed if it is reliably source. No one cares about the Talk page anyway and no one will listen to me because they all are a bunch arrogant arseholes.

Apparently not every one else agrees that it is a reliable source. That is why you take it to the Talk page. And editor attacking is not proper. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 09:34, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Again you are mentioning that one person is the entire consensus. How about you research the source and decide if it's reliable. Also how come Wisdom89 is getting away with Edit Warring? (Jamcad01 (talk) 09:43, 16 October 2011 (UTC))

You clearly cannot be reasoned with, I give up. Enjoy your upcoming timeout for attacking editors. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 09:46, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Hello Mr. Vernon. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know however, regarding China IPR SME Helpdesk, that tagging articles for speedy deletion moments after creation as lacking context (CSD A1), content (CSD A3) and articles created through the Article Wizard, is too fast. It's best to wait at least 10 - 15 minutes for more content to be added, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), pure vandalism (G3), and copyright violations (G12) should of course be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks.

Speedy deletion for Club Soda (live music venue)

Hi Mr. Vernon. I'd like to contest the speedy deletion of the page I created. The reasons mentioned for deletion seem unjustified. I have researched wikipedia to look for similar entries (ones related to music venues in Montreal) and a lot of these venues do have a page created. Club Soda is one of Montreal's most known and respected music venue. It has been opened for nearly 30 years and has greatly participated in the city's cultural growth by hosting over 5000 shows since its opening. It has also been ranked amongst the city's top 5 venues in the past decade by various polls. I strongly believe it has its place on Wikipedia, the same way these other music venues do. Thank you for your time! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thefriendattack (talkcontribs) 05:01, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi, there was a reference to Surflight Theatre and Showplace Ice Cream on the Beach Haven, Nj page that you removed as spam on 10/11. (YOu may recall that you also had me banned for making edits to the Surflight page and removed that page that day as well, because I mentioned to you that I am their marketing director.) I have since read up on the rules for making changes where conflict of interest exist and will not be making any changes without heeding those guidelines first. The theatre is non-profit and my role in marketing is as a volunteer, and I am a resident of Beach Haven. I have only been helping out the theatre for a few months, but have been making improvements to several pages including the Beach Haven page long before any conflict existed, just simply as a resident who is aware of what the main attractions on the island are, and Surflight and Show Place are now conspicuously absent from the listing, as well as from Wikipedia as a whole. Ironically, you can even see Surflight theatre on the right hand side of the photo that is on the Beach Haven page. It is one of the most well known icons for Beach Haven. Please don't punish this landmark theatre by removing them from their rightful place in wikipedia because of my mistake. By the way, the guidelines suggest that an error like I made should be given the benefit of the doubt. I meant no harm, and was not trying to put anything out there that was an advertisement, only trying to give a true represenation of the area where I live, which is a tourist town and full of attractions that many visit annually. If I should be going about this differently, please let me know. Thank you for your guidance and assistance. Adelmang (talk) 16:20, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

First, I didn't ban you. I'm not an admin and don't have that ability. I suggested it because of your conflict of interest in those articles which you admitted to. I understand what you are trying to do, but it sounds - at least to me - like you are interested in creating pages on Wikipedia as part of marketing the theater. Even if you are a volunteer and unpaid. Take a look at WP:COI - it says pretty clearly in the intro that you shouldn't try to promote things that you have an interest in, like the theater. Also, you should ask yourself, do these businesses meet notability guidelines? (see WP:CORP.) Even if there wasn't a conflict of interest, any business on Wikipedia needs to meet those guidelines. Look at the "Audience" section for instance - sources should at least be regional, and if the theater and ice cream shop don't get that kind of coverage, they'll likely be deleted even if you write a neutral article. I'm not saying you should not recreate the article. However, it sounds like you do have a bias, and I think that you would be better served contributing in other ways where there isn't a COI. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 03:17, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for that misunderstanding. I thought it was you who had banned me because the very second that I told you of my relationship to the theatre, I read a comment between you and another person about how I could be wondering about your edit, and at the exact same time, I had lost my ability to edit. So your recommendation must have taken effect immediately. I was disheartened that I wasn't allowed an opportunity to respond or even have dialogue with you about the change, and several pages that I contributed to were instantly deleted (by Fastily?), even though I had only made small edits to some. The ban even affected my ability to edit my own talk page, even though everything I read said that I should still be able to do so. I challenged the ban, or at least I thought I did but it went unanswered for a month. The second challenge was successful, but it took a long time for me to be able to even get back on and discuss the situation with anyone. I feel it is very unfortunate that it is possible for admins to have unilateral control over the site in such a way. Especially without any dialogue or attempt to understand the goals of the contributor, and assumption of guilt over their intentions. To address your other question about audience, the theatre and ice cream parlour definitely meet the regional criteria. There are independent sites that reference the two, there are reviews in Playbill.com, NY Times, Asbury Park Press, Press of Atlantic City, to name a few. Trip Advisor and many other travel rating services have independent info to reference as well. I am interested in restoring the theatre's page that was created long before my wiki login was even a twinkle in someone's eye. The goal of any of my contributions is not for the purpose of marketing, but for giving the landmark entities (not just for the ones I do volunteer work for, but for all of the notable businesses on the island) the representation they deserve on an encyclopedic-type guide that people use when wanting to know facts, stats, history, seating capacity, location, key people, productions, etc. about these businesses. I think you'll find that my edits have not been hyped up or full of salesy language, but more matter of fact. And if and when not, a corrective edit would be much more helpful than a wholesale deletion. After all, I am still learning the site etiquitte, but I would hope that admins would want to mentor and guide editors who are making a reasonable, genuine effort to contribute, not shut them down for their first offense. Thanks for listening. Adelmang (talk) 05:11, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

New Page Triage engagement strategy released

Hey guys!

I'm dropping you a note because you filled out the New Page Patrol survey, and indicated you'd be interested in being contacted about follow-up work. This is to notify you that we've finally released both the initial documentation about the project and also the engagement strategy, which sets out how we plan to work with the community on this. Please give both a read, and leave any comments or suggestions you have on the talkpage, on my talkpage, or in my inbox - okeyes@wikimedia.org.

It's awesome to finally get to start work on this! :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 02:46, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

new page Sierra Cartwright

Dear Mr Vernon

I'm new to this, and probably did it all wrong, but I would like to get in contact with you proofing that I'm not a machine, or scammer, or whatever has caused my first article to be blocked.

I don't understand why a writer with so many books published should not be of interest to wikipedia?

I've read somewhere to not use my real name... please advice if it would be better to reveal who I am.

Thank you in advance for an answer.

Curiousdisposition (talk) 03:32, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

You shouldn't use your real name on here, but if this article is a conflict of interest for you, then you shouldn't be creating the article at all. Read WP:COI which gives the reasons why. In any case, you need to cite the importance of the author; just saying "they are important" is not enough; read WP:AUTHOR. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 03:35, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Hey, Mr. Vernon, I just wanted to let you know that I declined your speedy deletion nom of the Thai dessert article, opting instead to redirect it to the appropriate section of the Thai cuisine article. Thanks anyway! Writ Keeper 05:23, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Help instead of haunting would be nice

Please do not degrade me, just because of your way of thinking or judging. I love wikipedia since day one, and donate every end of the year a small amount (the best i can) in honor and respect of it. Do not tell me I'm a "sock puppet"!!!
!
This account is new, because I could not log in to my old "adonim" because I never received the new requested password, probably because it's so old that I don't even have that email address any longer.!
I may have done it all wrong, but don't treat me like a criminal with bad intention!!
!
As for the article I've tried to create: before I could add more info, like birthday and birth city, etc. I got deleted. This writer IS important and of general interest, as she utterly diversities the world, especially the christian US. With over 400 controversial mentions in the media, and nothing short of "Fifty Shades of Grey" (which you DO have in wikipedia!), and being 10 years longer on the market, this does indeed deserve to be mentioned!!

Thanks.!
Kind regards,!

Midnight Insanity

Hi! I'm not sure if I'm going about this correctly, but I hope I am.

I see the page I created has been tagged for deletion for copyright infringement because it is the same text that is on a website, www.midnightinsanity.org. Actually, I am the owner of the organization, Midnight Insanity, and wrote the text myself. The website in question is the one infringing. I own the trademark to Midnight Insanity, and am currently in legal battle with the people who own www.midnightinsanity.org for their use of my trademarked name and for impersonating my organization. I can provide proof of trademark if necessary.

Woodland Pattern

Hi, Mr. Vernon. I was disappointed to see that you've nominated Woodland Pattern Book Center for speedy deletion, and I just offered a few ideas contesting the nomination on the talk page for the article. I was very surprised to see that no article existed yet for this truly significant organization, so perhaps I created something a bit hastily without sufficiently robust references, but it truly is an important organization in the literary scene. The worlds of poetry and multicultural literature and avant-garde music are not currently well represented on Wikipedia, but that does not mean that these topics are not important parts of an encyclopedic project that aspires to represent human knowledge. I would be very grateful if you would reconsider your nomination, especially the speedy part, since I will be away all day tomorrow and unable to take further action until the weekend. --Jgmikulay (talk) 03:05, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Sure. Please read WP:ORG which talks about what kind of organizations are notable and how to mention that notability. You really didn't do that in the article; an organization being around for 25 years does not make it notable. And actually Wikipedia does a pretty good job of having information on poetry, literature, and music (look at the article on George Crumb for instance, though I'm not sure he's considered avant-garde.) --Mr. Vernon (talk) 03:08, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. I will consult those guidelines more carefully and continue to work on the article. I just added another sentence and a few references that I hope will help. I've written quite a few articles about artworks but this is my first attempt at writing about an organization, so I appreciate your guidance and patience. --Jgmikulay (talk) 03:25, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

I contested your speedy nomination, since I think there are credible claims of significance in the article (particularly in the history). Feel free to take to AfD though as it easily could not be notable. Regards! VQuakr (talk) 03:22, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the note! --Mr. Vernon (talk) 03:29, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Redirecting a page

If you redirect a page like you did here, please provide an edit summary so the author knows why you redirected it. I'm not exactly sure how plausible of a redirect it is anyways, A10 may have been more appropriate. Ryan Vesey 14:34, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Moral dilemma (Band) declined

Hi Mr. Vernon. Thank you for your work on patrolling new pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Moral dilemma (Band), a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, under criterion A7 because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. While this page needs significant improvement, and might well not survive an AfD (surely it would not without such improvement) A7 is intentionally quite narrow. Mention of 2 albums and the placement of this group's work in regular rotation are IMO more then enough to raise this above the A7 level. Indeed WP:BAND mentions those as factors that could, if sourced, fully establish notability. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers and review the criteria for speedy deletion. Particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion, proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. DES (talk) 17:48, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

new Bill Roy page

Dear Mr. Vernon,

I am brand new to wikipedia and noticed you edited the page "William Burton Roy" that I just created. There are a few problems I can't seem to figure out on photos and "wikifying" it. Could you help please? I was one of Bill's cadets at the academy and noticed he didn't have a page created under his name on the Olympic skeet shooting winners list, so I decided I'd make one for him kind of as a surprise that I will show him this week.

Any assistance to make it a clean copy would be so appreciated. I know you don't have to or likely don't want, but I'm just asking. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ncstorm (talkcontribs) 06:13, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Sure, I can actually help clean it up. One note, be sure to sign your comments (use --~~~~) so that people know who is writing :) --Mr. Vernon (talk) 06:15, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Thank you, so much! I'm pushing it here, but there were pictures on the page. Unless this doesn't match a wikipedia standard that I'm unfamiliar with, could they be made functional? If not, you've done enough. Thanks again. Ncstorm (talk) 06:27, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Also, people who would actually look him up would only do so under the name Bill Roy. Is it possible change the name of the page from "William Burton Roy"? Ncstorm (talk) 06:29, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

There already is an article on a Bill Roy (more well known as he is a former Congressman.) I'll add a disambig link so people going to that page can find the one on WBR too. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 06:39, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Dear Mr. Vernon,

I appreciate your opinion on my article about Grad Nite, but please don't delete it. I don't understand what you mean as to saying that Wikipedia is not a dictionary. Wikipedia is an online enclyclopedia which I clearly understand, but in my opinion, I don't see how my article relates to a dictionary in any way, shape, or form. I know that you're a more expierienced Wikipedian than I am, but can you cut me a little slack on the matter. I will try my best to make it less like a dictionary than now, but as of now, don't threaten to delete my stuff. I am currently trying to make as much as something you'll find in a senior's guide to social interactions in high school. But anyway, thanks for being a good, honest person on Wikipedia.

Speedy deletion declined: Karunakara menon

Hello Mr. Vernon. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Karunakara menon, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Being the director of Kalakshetra is a good enough claim to pass A7. Thank you. — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 13:12, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

He's only deputy director, though. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 13:30, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
The claim was that he is the director, and I did see one page that said he was director while searching Google. (Sorry, can't seem to find it again.) Perhaps he only became director recently. In any case, it can't hurt to spend a little more time to get the facts straightened out. Regards — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 13:36, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
I've been checking. It appears that deputy director is the highest level of administration in the school. The only reason his title isn't director is that he is under the chairman of the board. He is also director of the South Zone Culture Centre which might improve notability. You're certainly free to take this to AfD, but I'd prefer to see it kept. Sources might be hard to find though. Ryan Vesey 14:07, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
I was looking to find coverage about Mr. Menon in particular; the agencies he is deputy director/director of are certainly notable but is he, just because of his position? --Mr. Vernon (talk) 14:16, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Why was the page insistent IT systems deleted?

Why was the page insistent IT systems deleted? I mean it is a private limited company and I have it's proof of registration with Govt. of India. And we are working since 2010 as mentioned in the page. You could have at least given it a sufficient time for people to rate it. I haven't saved a copy of page too and I have spent 2 hrs to create it. Irshad Alam Shaikh (talk) 02:14, 22 August 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Irshad Alam Shaikh (talkcontribs) 02:07, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

First, I did not delete the article, I tagged it. You should read WP:NCORP to determine corporate notability guidelines; being around since 2010 does not make you inherently notable. I would read the part about secondary sources. Second, if you do want the article text recovered, you may want to ask an admin on their talk page, like User Talk:Acroterion (as he is the admin that approved the deletion.) Thanks. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 02:18, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Mr Vernon, It is a well settled company and having linked in more than 50 websites. I am new to wikipedia and still not completely aware of notability. But seeing the company's wide experience and business, article was worth giving a chance to be completed according to guidelines.Irshad Alam Shaikh (talk) 02:35, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
