A tag has been placed on Jamilah B. Creekmur requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A tag has been placed on Jamilah B. Creekmur requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. You need to ad the {{helpme}} template here on your talk page, and post a specific question beneath it if you need help. You can usually get a very quick response to any requests. Beeblebrox (talk) 16:50, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

HELP

[edit]

Jamilah B Creekmur page deletion.

[edit]

I'm New wikipedian, so my apologies in advance if I'm contacting you the wrong way...a page I recently created under Jamilah B. Creekmur was deleted because of "ambiguous" promotion and copyright infringement. I just edited the entire bio on Jamilah by compiling information from reliable sources, and took out what I feel was biased information. However, I'm open to your suggestions on what I may have left in and need to take out. I'm learning the process, and would appreciate your feedback, thank you much

Hi. Getting started at Wikipedia can indeed be tricky, try not to get discouraged by all the policies and rules. The best simple guide to what Wikipedia is and how it works is the five pillars of Wikipedia, the five core policies on which everything else is based. I've looked over your draft article, it's not too bad but there are a few problems.
  • The most pressing one would be that there seem to be entire sentences lifted directly from the sources, which would constitute a copyright violation. You can, indeed you must, get your ideas from sources but you have to then restate those ideas in your own words.
  • The style of referencing you have used is not the one generally used on Wikipedia. Wikipedia references are normally inline citation links. There is a guide on how to add them at WP:REFBEGIN.
  • Remember that it doesn't have to be perfect, the most important thing is that all material be verified by sources and written from a neutral point of view, the rest is just details.
  • This is just general advice based on a quick look at your draft article, I can't guarantee that this person meets the basic guidelines for inclusion but I do think the article as currently written would not be speedy deleted again. Good luck and happy editing! Beeblebrox (talk) 02:23, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You may also want to work on it using one of your user page, then copy it into the article when you are done polishing it. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 02:51, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you.

The article Jamilah B. Creekmur has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, individual animal, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Also, you really should not be writing about yourself -- see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Request reason:

where I can input a reason to be unblocked...i've never logged into wikipedia under any other name other than suganique (Admin edit: it goes into the part of the template helpfully labelled "your reason here" ;-) )

Decline reason:

From what I can see, there is a strong relation between the edits made by this account and those made by the other accounts named in Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Geekmaster1/Archive. While we're on the subject, though, would you mind explaining why the account User:Newcitystudent appears to have been created from your computer just a few minutes after you posted this request? sure, thank you for response. there's nothing to hide here. I started a wiki account last year under suganique...I edited a couple pages about people i researched in the entertainment industry. i wrote my first page and it was deleted. i tried to log in today so that i may continue to be apart of the community and saw my user name was blocked. If its blocked does this it mean that i as an individual am banned forever? i created a new username since i thought my suganique was permanently down. i'm just a student here trying to learn the about wiki, as well as prominent people within the entertainment industry. i have no connection with this "geekmaster1". i've only logged in under suganique, until today when i made a new account. pls advise, thank you
