Dont take the bait

[edit]

Lepricavark as usual is trying to badger everyone and turn the thread off topic. This is his 7th reply, on this thread. There is no reason to reply to him, unless it is absolutely necessary. Dont take the bait. --⋙–DBigXray 21:01, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@DBigXray: Hmm, I already replied, maybe I should take it back. What is their purpose here? Just defending WilliamJE? --Mr. Vernon (talk) 21:06, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Mr. Vernon, I was about to agree with your most recent comment before you removed it. William's recent behavior is worrying and I hope he will listen to my most recent comment on his talk age. DBX has an ax to grind with me (and William) over a recent ANI thread and is misrepresenting my motives. My comments are in good faith and I request that you not prejudge me based on the word of someone who has a vendetta against me. LEPRICAVARK (talk) 21:10, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@DBigXray: Let me restore it then. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 21:11, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Mr. Vernon, I dont see a reason to remove your comment, but I would suggest not reply any more unless it is about the topic, this thread isn't about you or Leprivark or your feelings or opinions, so I asked. It is obvious that he is badgering everyone in that thread. Continuous back and forth replies will inadvertently throw the thread off topic. Which is why I asked not to take the bait. ⋙–DBigXray 21:14, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
DBigXray OK, I'm out then. Good luck. I have a feeling I know where this is going anyway. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 21:15, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
He will soon claim that you also have an axe to grind. ⋙–DBigXray 21:17, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That became inevitable as soon as I made a comment in the MfD. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 21:18, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It may turn much more sinister. For an interesting and latest example take a look at this, suddenly my advice to you have become "personal Attacks" on this user. --⋙–DBigXray 21:34, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
DBigXray WP:NOTHERE comes to mind. Mr. Vernon (talk) 21:37, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I would not go that far, but at least the ANI/AN contributions I have seen have been utterly worthless. --⋙–DBigXray 21:41, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Mr. Vernon, forgive me if I'm badgering, but in the spirit of listening to feedback and examining one's own behavior, what leads you to believe that I am not here to build an encyclopedia? If you have concerns with my actions, please do not hesitate to be specific. Perhaps the sandbox diff-collection was wrong; I have self-reverted. Sometimes I am too impulsive. On the other hand, I am hurt and perplexed by your comment that I am NOTHERE. I was under the impression that you and I agreed that William's behavior was concerning (and you should that I closed the MfD in question as it was inappropriate), so I'm not sure what I could have done to incurred your displeasure. As I noted above, DBX despises me (unfairly, IMO), so you can't just take their words at face value. They say I am bludgeoning, but I think you'll find that I'm doing nothing of the sort. And please remember that they came to your page to attack me behind my back, not the other way around. LEPRICAVARK (talk) 22:01, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have no reason to believe that any bad blood exists between myself and Mr. Vernon, with whom I find myself in quite a bit of agreement. Please stop attacking me. LEPRICAVARK (talk) 21:19, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Comments There have been many times that I have agreed with both of you, though not always on the same topic. My interpretation of WP:NOTHERE is more holistic than the specifics in that article; it's not just about obvious vandalism, it's about the reason for being here. We should try to make everything we do make this a better encyclopedia. I cannot say with any level of certainty that this is what I do, but it's what I try to do. It's what we should all try to do. And if we are doing things that have nothing to do with making the encyclopedia better, then why are we here? Playing political games? I get that at the office, I don't need that here, and if that's part of the deal of Wikipedia, tell me now so I can stop wasting my time. User:Lepricavark, I'll be honest, reading that you were monitoring my talk page and saving edits made by another editor as some kind of ammunition for the future, was hurtful. It felt like stalking, and that the purpose of it was not to build an encyclopedia, but to put together a list of edits for some inevitable ArbCom case. User:DBigXray, I'm sorry to see that you've retired. Many editors and admins don't understand what it is like to be on the front lines of vandalism (and some of the "content disputes" you were involved with re: the Delhi article are borderline vandalism.) It's easy to fall into the trap of not being in the best mood after fighting for hours. It's too bad that it has come to this, we've lost a good contributor who I do think made Wikipedia a better encyclopedia. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 16:48, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If you were bothered that I saved edits that another user posted on your talk page in which I was personally attacked, but you were not bothered that the other editor was using your talk page to personally attack me, then I don't know what to tell you. LEPRICAVARK (talk) 16:56, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Lepricavark, I respect you for your position re: Kudpung, especially since they were an admin and saying anything negative against them - even in an ArbCom case which could result in their desysoping - is risky and can cause a lot of blowback. I reverted my comment because I didn't want to find myself on a list. But you also have to understand, I found out that you have been monitoring my talk page and saving selected edits by another editor from them. I'm not sure DBigXray's comments helped build a better encyclopedia, but I'd like to know, did you think your actions did, and if so, how? Mr. Vernon (talk) 17:03, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I was only 'monitoring' your talk page because another editor was using it to attack me. I don't think it's fair for the two of you to discuss me and then get upset if I keep an eye on the conversation. The diff-saving is a fairly common practice and was in no way intended to make you feel stalked or otherwise uncomfortable. As you may recall, I removed the diffs from my sandbox after the two of you criticized me for saving them. Frankly, I doubt if any of this thread is helping to build a better encyclopedia, but please remember that I came here after I was attacked for making good faith comments in a discussion elsewhere. LEPRICAVARK (talk) 17:14, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Lepricavark, I don't understand, were you monitoring my talk page just in case DB posted here, or were you monitoring his edits? Nevermind, this discussion does not make Wikipedia a better encyclopedia. Mr. Vernon (talk) 17:21, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Lepricavark, and now they are gone. Congrats, well done sir, bravo. Mr. Vernon (talk) 17:42, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've moved on. You should do the same. Oh, and stop pinging me. LEPRICAVARK (talk) 18:35, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

SPI patrolling former admin comments

[edit]
RE: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/WorldWikiAuthorOriginal, the blocking fo the ips is Almost Done, i will send a ban request to their IP providers for sixth months as requested by your inner thoughts. I believe that WorldWikiAuthorOriginal is a shared sock-meat farm by KingsIndian and Bradv. I've been doing research on it at my library and consulting with some former Wikipedians on it (the only ones who aren't scared to speak with me like Gregy Kohs, RationalObserver and Ryulong). Once we get concrete proof ,I will be blocking and tagging KingsIndian and Bradv. I will be there with every move they (KI and Bradv) make to block them and revert them. I will be their new 'best friend'. Time Wiki takes out the trash.

I have added 16 requested edits to the young blood transfusion talk page. Would you please make these edits, or respond on the talk page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.6.209.89 (talk) 07:15, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

newbie and confused

[edit]

Hi Mr. Vernon, I'm brand new to Wikipedia editing and just saw your message about a conflict of interest on the page that I edited. I'm not sure how to handle this - I do work with Kenneth A. Dodge and was asked to help update his online presence. The Wikipedia entry for him was out of date so I simply added new information. I don't know how else a living person's page gets updated if not by the person him/herself or a friend or colleague. What do you suggest? Thanks! ````OhSabrina — Preceding unsigned comment added by OhSabrina (talkcontribs) 15:52, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

OhSabrina, thanks for getting back to me. Yes, we do have a procedure in place for doing so. If you are being paid for doing these edits (perhaps through FC), there are some additional procedures. The short version is: you have to disclose, and you should go to the article's talk page to propose edits so that neutral Wikipedia editors can review and make the changes. You can read more at WP:COI which has all the steps you'll need to follow. Most edits to Wikipedia don't involve a conflict of interest, which is why we have these additional steps. Good luck, and leave a note if you have additional questions; I'm just an editor, but I can help or refer you to the correct resource. Mr. Vernon (talk) 16:03, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wow. This may not see it to you, but this is extremely complicated for someone like me. Especially because I have no intention of being a regular Wikipedia editor. While I may have a conflict of interest in terms of working with Ken, I am not being paid to do this - it's not a part of my job at all. And spending time trying to understand how to do these things is preventing me from getting the work done that I actually do get paid for. Sigh. Thanks. 70.130.72.33 (talk) 16:12, 11 March 2020 (UTC)OhSabrina[reply]

I'll ask around. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 21:45, 11 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Okra

[edit]

Hi Mr Vernon, I do not have a citation for my edit on selecting/buying Okra/Bhindi. It is based on my personal experience. Does Wikipedia not have a place for such information? Infuse — Preceding unsigned comment added by Infuse2001 (talkcontribs) 02:53, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:29, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
