Mooonswimmer, I've noticed that quite a few of you deletion nominations over the last few weeks have been of articles created by Rathfelder. Is this just a strange coincidence or is there a reason for this? Phil Bridger (talk) 21:13, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello @Phil Bridger, no specific reason. I'm trying to become more active on AfD. No particular interest in the subject matter, and nothing at all against @Rathfelder.
- Today's focus of mine was non-notable comic book publishing companies, and I nominated at least a dozen articles on comic publishers for deletion. I wouldn't be surprised if a few of these were created by the same editor, but it's nothing personal. I often don't pay much attention to who created an article. Considering you're someone very active in deletion discussions, I'd be immensefully grateful if you could lend me your opinion regarding the aforementioned nominations to know if I'm on the right track when it comes to gauging notability and encyclopedic value.
- On the other hand, I also nominated an article regarding a restaurant for deletion after spending quite some time reading Wikipedia talkpages regarding notability and restaurants. I have just noticed the creator of the article is an extremely accomplished and reputable contributor, and I was wondering if my nomination is unwarranted and improper. I'd be interested in hearing what you'd have to say regarding what makes a restaurant notable, as well as what you think in this specific case. Thank you for your time. Mooonswimmer 21:34, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
- Mooonswimmer, I would ask you to not nominate articles for deletion if you're 1) not completing source assessments prior to nominating and/or 2) not familiar with notability criteria. I know you mean well, but "rescuing" articles during AfD feels like an uphill battle, so expressing your concerns by placing a tag or posting a note on a talk page is sometimes a helpful alternative. Thanks and happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 00:38, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
Paid jobs
Hi Mooonswimmer. Thanks for adding this section, but I fear this is incomplete. Per WP:PAID, you've to link to all the marketplaces where you advertise. I can see you have accepted five jobs on Upwork and have participated in a few AfDs for pay. I suggest you to follow User:Bleff userpage as an example and at least link to Upwork profile. I hope you can do this yourself or I would be sending the link to Arbcom and this may result in an indefinite block. Also, WP:COI should use WP:AfC process for new articles and for edting use talkpage to place Wikipedia:Edit requests. Thank you. 108.197.34.118 (talk) 08:07, 6 January 2023 (UTC)

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution (second request)
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Avera Mengistu into Gag order. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 23:05, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello @Diannaa,
- It slipped my mind this time, my apologies. I included an attribution in the subsequent summary once I had realized my mistake. What do we consider to be extensive copying? Would the paragraph I copied be considered as such? Also, I tried adding the {copied} template, but I'm confused at how to fill in the "from_oldid" field. Thank you! Mooonswimmer 00:07, 18 January 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry, I missed the attribution edit summary! But your question about the attribution template is a good one. For a single parapgraph, I wouldn't feel the copied template is necessary. Here's an example of a filled-out copied template (notice that this example is a streamlined version that does not include the from_oldid field):
{{Copied |from = Machiavellianism |to = Machiavellianism scale |to_diff = 915516903 |date = September 13, 2019 }}
This gives the following result:
Text and/or other creative content from Machiavellianism was copied or moved into Machiavellianism scale with this edit on September 13, 2019. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists. |
For the Gag order edit the to_diff number would be 1134052407. If using the oldid field, it's the version number of the revision from which you obtained the text. In case you don't know, the diff number is obtained from the url of the edit where you added the content to the destination article. For more info on diffs, please see help:Diff. — Diannaa (talk) 00:32, 18 January 2023 (UTC)

NPOV issues on Israeli settlement
Hi Mooonswimmer -- sorry if I'm not going about this the right way, I'm pretty new to editing Wikipedia beyond minor stuff. Right now, the lede of Israeli settlement reads, "Israeli settlements, or Israeli colonies". This appears to me (and others) as an NPOV violation. However, as you can see from the talk page, there are some users who are adamant on keeping it. I can summarize the arguments for you if you want, but I think the issue needs another set of more neutral eyes. Maybe it's appropriate to escalate this to mediation, but I'm not sure this is right for that -- especially because I'm not even an established-enough editor to make the change (removing "or Israeli colonies", perhaps replacing it with a line later in the article regarding the fact that some consider the settlements to be such, and perhaps adding the Hebrew term התנחלות). So, I thought I would reach out to another editor. I found you through the Israel-Palestine Collaboration WikiProject. Peaux (talk) 04:15, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

Hi! With this edit you seem to have added a large-scale copy-paste copyvio from this source, that version archived on 25 October 2021. Is there some reason or explanation I'm not seeing which might make somehow that OK? Anyway, I've reverted your edits, for now at least. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:35, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hello @Justlettersandnumbers
- My bad, I should've made an attribution in my edit summary, but it slipped my mind. I copy-pasted the paragraphs from Yasir Al-Rumayyan, since I believed they were more suited for the PIF article than his biography.
- It seems as if the content in the source was copy-pasted from Wikipedia, rather than vice-versa. The articled you linked was published in October 2021, but the paragraphs I copy-pasted were already in the Yasir Al-Rumayyan article months before that.
- Mooonswimmer 22:00, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
- OK, I see that now – I didn't look at your other recent contributions before. Yes, do please make a point of providing attribution in cases like this, it saves time all round. I'll undelete those revisions, but leave it to you to reinstate the material with a suitable edit summary. I'm relieved to find that there actually is a reasonable explanation this time! Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:05, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
- My sincere apologies, I often only remember I have to provide attribution right as I publish my edit. I've been working on it. Thanks for your vigilance.
- Regarding my edit in the article's lead section, was that reverted due to the copyright vio concern or for another reason? Mooonswimmer 22:09, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ajnad al-Khilafah
Hello Mooonswimmer,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ajnad al-Khilafah for deletion, because it's a redirect that seems implausible or is an unlikely search term.
If you don't want Ajnad al-Khilafah to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Hello, Mooonswimmer,
FYI, there is really no reason to move a page and then request it be deleted CSD G7 at the new page title. This just creates the need for two page deletions, one at the new title and the second at the previous page which is now a broken redirect. Just eliminate the unnecessary page move. Thank you for your contributions to the project. Liz Read! Talk! 20:29, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Harold Kushner
The article Harold Kushner you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Harold Kushner for comments about the article, and Talk:Harold Kushner/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has never appeared on the Main Page as a "Did you know" item, and has not appeared within the last year either as "Today's featured article", or as a bold link under "In the news" or in the "On this day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear at DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On this day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of Pbritti -- Pbritti (talk) 15:01, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Moonswimmer! I wanted to first again congratulate you on completing your second successful GA nomination. I wanted to additionally note that your efforts in addressing the comments in that review typified an editor with both an openness to growth and a commitment to the project. Please continue to challenge yourself as you did in this GAR, as you set an example for me and others to follow when you engage with critiques and problems the way you did. Thank you! ~ Pbritti (talk) 15:28, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- I truly value your encouraging words and commend you for contributing to the impressive progress in clearing our GA backlog. I can only hope that all of our GA nominations will be as seamless and gratifying as this one.
- Your comment has encouraged me to promptly embark on another GA nomination. I'm thinking of "specializing" in film articles, and I have my sights set on Ida. The article is already in great condition, and since I really enjoyed the film, dedicating a day or two to scour the Internet for information on its production and reception would be more an enjoyable endeavor than a task. The film is about a Polish novice nun who learns about her dark family history as she's poised to take her vows – so the nomination might be right up your alley! Mooonswimmer 16:37, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- That looks like a great subject; I have family that actually faced similar circumstances in the Netherlands during the war, though without the same degree of intrigue. I likely won't review this article, as I generally don't like the idea of reviewing the same editor's noms back-to-back. However, I look forward to seeing that article with a little green icon! ~ Pbritti (talk) 19:44, 21 August 2023 (UTC)

Morocco Music Awards
Hi Mooonswimmer, would you consider creating an article about the Morocco Music Awards or know another editor who might be interested? I would but the best sources are not in English and I am not familiar with Moroccan media to easily know what is a good source. I think an article would go a long way to help Moroccan musicians meet WP:NMUSIC. This source says they started in 2013. S0091 (talk) 13:37, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Hey S0091! Appreciate the suggestion! I've included it in my extensive article to-do list. With some free time starting next week, I'm aiming to create at least a dozen articles before the year wraps up, and the Morocco Music Awards piece will be on the agenda.
- Great work on the AfD, by the way. How did you come up with those sources? I was worried the discussion might lean towards a "Delete" consensus if my (somewhat weak) points weren't considered. It would've been a shame since he's a major rap figure in Morocco (and arguably across Africa and the Arab world). Your research effort is greatly appreciated; Wikipedia lacks a fair share of coverage on African artists and filmmakers, and many Africa-centric articles face deletion due to limited local coverage (that often leaves a lot to be desired), demanding extra digging and argumentation to establish notability. Mooonswimmer 16:54, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Embarrassingly, the first two were from a simple Google News search which I thought I had checked before I voted (or maybe I did and just missed them?). Then it occurred to me to try ProQuest (via WP:Wikipedia Library). There were other sources on ProQuest but all in French so only checked a couple or so because it's time consuming. I don't even understand the headlines lol. Great to hear you are taking this on! Also, the same editor who created Lbenj created several more (and behaved disruptively so blocked for a month). I think they were translating them from the Moroccan Wikipedia but suspect they were machine translations. Some were AfD'd by NPP, I moved a couple or so to draft and tagged a couple or so for notability, although knowing what I do now most probably are notable. S0091 (talk) 17:18, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- I tried the "search term" site:website.com method with a bunch of Moroccan, French, and music-related publications but the results were quite limited. Simple Google News search yielded nothing for me. I don't really use ProQuest but perhaps now's the time to start!
- I plan to sift through the French sources and add anything relevant to the article. The ongoing discussion seems to have already affirmed his notability. I've just reviewed the editor's contributions. The block imposed on him due to disruption through creation of articles on subjects not meeting Wikipedia's notability requirements is disheartening and concerning given the notability of the subjects, including three of Morocco/Africa/the Arab World's most influential rappers. While I acknowledge the fact that the articles are poorly written and that the article has made some sketchy page movies, I'll try to contact him, clarify the proper procedures, and attempt to fix the state of the existing articles while potentially collaborating on new ones in the future.
- Take a look at this AfD. What a letdown it has been so far. It's a poignant example of what I was just talking about. Mooonswimmer 18:42, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- The big issue with that editor is they tried to hijack an existing article, Simon Martin (artist), to make it about Simodmart (also supported by their Wikidata edits). The block was initiated due to me reporting them to an admin because that is blatant vandalism. They also had issues at ar and fr wiki which didn't help. It appears they are are quite hard headed and do not communicate unless under severe threat, perhaps because they are not competent in the languages to which they are trying to contribute but a friendly note might help. I am all for a constructive editor even if they had rough start. Also, they are only blocked from mainspace so can still edit drafts and might be a good way "in" to see if they can contribute.
- Yes, try ProQuest because they do have non-English publications with some otherwise being pay-walled and good for more contemporary topics. For Google News, I just Google "Google News" to launch it, then search from there. For Lbenj, I simply searched Lbenj thus my embarrassment. I had to wade through a few sources to find the good ones but still. As far as the others at AfD, usually if they are deleted the deleting admin will restore them to draft space if requested, especially if requested by an experienced editor so I am not too worried about them. S0091 (talk) 19:38, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Looks like he was trying to hijack the article to have one created for himself. "Simodmart" appears to be his artist alias (he himself is clearly non-notable). He seems to be pretty young and may not speak fluent English, as you said, but I can give it a final try. He seems resourceful and we've all made mistakes, some of us even got into Wikipedia on the wrong foot. But if he insists on churning out low-quality translations, hijacking pages, and attempting to promote himself, nothing we can do! Mooonswimmer 19:45, 30 October 2023 (UTC)

My comment on the recent AfD
Hey, I made a comment on a recent AfD that, while not ill-intentioned, I realize now reads as a slight. This was pointed out to me and I'd like to apologize if it was taken as offensive to you and, if it's okay with you, I'll remove it from the closure of the AfD.
Respectfully, microbiologyMarcus (petri dish•growths) 21:01, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
- No offense taken. I understood the thought process behind the AfD from the get-go. Notability was quickly established, the article has been improved slightly, and we were able to wrap things up promptly, so no worries at all. Mooonswimmer 22:04, 8 November 2023 (UTC)

- Hello, Mooonswimmer,
- I'm not sure why you had this restored at REFUND as it is a blank page. Maybe you should not request restoration of expired drafts unless you plan on working on them. You can always request restoration later when you have the time. After you request restoration 2 times, without there being any editing on the draft between restorations, the admins at REFUND start to question whether they should restore the draft again. So, there is not an unlimited number of draft restorations. Just something to consider. Liz Read! Talk! 21:57, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

Invitation
- Hello Mooonswimmer, we need experienced volunteers.
- New Page Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles. We could use a few extra hands on deck if you think you can help.
- Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; Wikipedia needs experienced users to perform this task and there are precious few with the appropriate skills. Even a couple reviews a day can make a huge difference.
- Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision (if it looks daunting, don't worry, it basically boils down to checking CSD, notability, and title). If this looks like something that you can do, please consider joining us.
- If you would like to join the project and help out, please see the granting conditions. You can apply for the user-right HERE.
- If you have questions, please feel free to drop a message at the reviewer's discussion board.
- Cheers, and hope to see you around.

Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Danny Masterson. It seems as if I am the "collateral damage" of a checkuser block of an IP range in response to recent abuse. I do not operate any other accounts nor was I responsible for the problematic edits that led to the block. I appeal to checkuser to examine this. Mooonswimmer 21:53, 10 February 2024 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Once again, we can't do anything about this without knowing what the range is, except refer you to WP:IPECPROXY where you will find instructions on how to request IP block exemption through email. — Daniel Case (talk) 07:35, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

AI boom
Hello Moonswimmer. Did you mean to revert my edit to AI Boom recently? For example, even my elimination of the Update Needed tag was reverted. Countercheck (talk) 20:38, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- Just checked the edit history and I have no clue what happened.
- I only meant to remove this, as it failed verification:
- 15.ai, released in 2020, was one of the first publicly available speech synthesis software that allowed users to generate natural, emotive, high-fidelity voices from text to resemble fictional characters. Mooonswimmer 21:35, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

The Damned Don't Cry (2022 film) moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, The Damned Don't Cry (2022 film), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Madge Oberholtzer: white?
Hi, I'm not doubting your edit and I'm not planning to revert it, but I'm curious about why chose to you remove "white" from the lead? It's now not in the article anywhere, I think. From your user page and your thoughts about the use of "Black" instead of "black", I'm guessing that you've put some thought into the use of these identifiers. I think it's probably important for readers to know that Madge Oberholtzer was not a Black woman given the circumstances of her rape and death, but ... how did you come to this decision? Just curious. -- Jaireeodell (talk) 19:19, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Jaireeodell, thanks for reaching out.
- You're right that I have put some thought into the use of such identifiers. I'm still forming my views on the spelling of black/Black. Your reminder is appreciated as I continue to refine my views on such matters.
- I prefer to avoid using such descriptors in lead sections, especially when redundant. In the case of Oberholtzer, I found the mention of her European descent in the Early Life section, coupled with the clear image of her in the infobox, to be sufficient for readers to grasp her background. I believe these details offer a comprehensive understanding without the need for explicit labeling in the lead.
- I plan to work a bit on the article and I'm currently exploring sources that might discuss her race in connection with the public outcry following her murder and how it affected the perception of the KKK in Indiana. Mooonswimmer 17:37, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Hya, I was reading your impressive user page and I saw there was a spelling mistake in your section "Capitalization of the "B" in "Black""

Creating New Page for Michael Huppe
Hello! Hope you are doing well.
I am reaching out to inquire about posting a new Wikipedia page for 'Michael Huppe' as I saw you are one of the Users who was involved in its deletion in 2023. [Here is the page for reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Michael_Huppe]
I am aware that in 2023 the page was removed for not meeting notability guidelines for biographies. The new page that I am looking to create corrects these issues. It is a fresh draft with unique copy and contains a significant number of independent, new sources and added context that affirm the individual's notability.
As my bio states, I am a digital marketing professional whose work sometimes includes helping clients with suggested edits to their Wikipedia pages - in this case, for Michael Huppe on behalf of SoundExchange, the non-profit collective rights management organization that employs him as CEO.
I am committed to following Wikipedia's policies and guidelines in the creation of a page that is based only on reliable, error-free and bias-free sources.
Please let me know if you have any thoughts, questions or suggestions regarding the creation of a new 'Michael Huppe' page. I value your input here and any guidance would be much appreciated.
Thank you for considering. Hannrose (talk) 18:25, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

This was a momentary lapse in diligence due to juggling through different sources saying mostly the same things and being quite tired while editing. I assure you that this does not reflect carelessness on my part, and I hope it does not detract from my efforts to expand that page and from my other contributions to Wikipedia. I understand the importance of adhering to Wikipedia’s copyright policy and try my best to ensure my contributions are entirely original. A. Gary Klesch article
Hello Mooonswimer
It’s nice to meet you, my name is Rosalyn and I am an employee of Klesch Group looking to update and clean up the A. Gary Klesch article in line with platform guidelines – I have left my thoughts on the talk page - Talk:A. Gary Klesch
I noticed you are among the more recent editors to have edited the article, thank you for your interest and time!
Like you, I agree the article lacks citations in a number of places – my proposed changes are focused on adding references where I can and removing the content where I cannot. Additionally, I’m keen to realign the tone of voice so that it is suitably neutral.
As an editor with a connection to Gary I do not want to make these changes myself. As an experienced and neutral reviewer I would be very appreciative if you would be so kind to look and share feedback.
Do let me know if this is something you could help with. I’m new to Wiki and so any tips greatly appreciated.
Thank you! Rosalyn Rosalyn15 (talk) 14:07, 6 August 2024 (UTC)

Women in Green's October 2024 edit-a-thon
Hello Mooonswimmer:
WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!
Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
We hope to see you there!
