DYK Review Request
Hey Michael! As you are a really helpful guy and also an administrator, I suppose you won't mind helping review Template:Did you know nominations/Leslie George Cole? Is that your cup of tea? Similarly, I would love to help review the Joel Gilbert nom, which has turned somewhat stale. (Unfortunately, you know I can't) Many thanks. Cheers. Thanks!
Hey MQS- Thanks for dropping a Happy New Year note on my talkpage. I took a bit of an unscheduled wikibreak over November and the holidays to focus on job hunting. But it's good to be back! I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 20:57, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
Proper response
Hey Michael, something to ask you since you have the experience. On a separate note, I review pending submissions at AfC. And just today (I think), some clown vandalizes my user page. I guess that he or she is angered by my (reasonable) declination of his/her submission. The user then proceeds to e-mail me this joke warning (which is ironical as he/she had received a warning for vandalism while I dont) It reads as follows.
Is this serious? "Bonkers the clown" rejected a posting of a legitimate person? I'm not sure if this is spam, or just a joke. I highly respect and regard Wikipedia, and I sincerely hope the integrity of the site isn't being compromised by a hacker of some sort. I intend to look into this matter with the full extent of my, and my fellow fans, resources. Please be advised that you are now under our surveillance, and will pursue further examination of this matter.
Urm, what would be the more appropriate way to respond? I do not wish for others to harbor resentment towards me. Or should I repost this on somewhere else? Bonkers The Clown (Nonsensical Babble) 10:31, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
- If a one-time instance, silence (or asking input from another as you did) is the best response. So that I might better understand the instance, please send me the diff. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 11:07, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
- Found it all. Looks to have been gently handled by another. The editor is apparently brand new, but that is no excuse for vandalizing another's page in a fit of pique. If it happens again, this person will be facing a block to prevent further disruption. This person needs to spend time over at WP:PRIMER. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 11:14, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the advice, though its no longer one time as the user has been spamming my email inbox with joke rankings about me being a hacker. Sometimes these people make me sigh.

Jami Floyd
Hi Michael, the sandbox article on Jami Floyd looks thorough enough... Would you mind if it was moved to the main space? Or do you feel that it needs a lil more? Thanks. Bonkers The Clown (Nonsensical Babble) 05:57, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- I've asked for input from the closer[1] and the editors who commented at the old AFD 3 years ago when the original article was practically unsourced.[2][3][4][5][6] While general content is similar (same person so this makes sense), it's now looking far better. They closer grants that the thing is better than what was deleted, but he's suggesting I take it to DRV. I'm going to see if that is really a requirement for a return of an article that is not a CSD:G4 violation. And too, I have written to Ms Floyd directly to ask her for some clarification of awards and years, and she actually promised to respond by Monday night. Let's wait a day or two. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 06:15, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Alright, sounds like a plan to wait for a while. Lets hear from Jami. Although I can't compare for similarities between the 2010 and the 2013 versions (permission rights), I'm quite certain the latter version would be better. I wouldn't suppose that it's necessary to bring it to DRV, but then again, it won't hurt. Cheers Bonkers The Clown (Nonsensical Babble) 09:10, 20 January 2013 (UTC)
- Oh yes, and by the way, how did you manage to contact her? Would it seem like a good idea to also at the same time request for permission to use one of the photographs found on her website? Thanks and cheers. Bonkers The Clown (Nonsensical Babble) 09:35, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

Buddha
I noticed you recently uploaded a pic of the DVD cover for the Gautama Buddha film. Nice touch up, but I'd suggest a file move (name change), as "Tathagatha Buddha.jpg" would usually be reserved for images in relation to Buddha himself (After all, that is one of his names)... And thus I'd suggest a name change to "Tathagatha Buddha film poster" or something. Nothing much, really, though I can't find any button that says "Move file". Is it due to permission rights, or should I be looking out for something else? Thanks. Cheers. Bonkers The Clown (Nonsensical Babble) 13:39, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Hello Michael,
I am back from a Wikibreak and ran across the article about Romolo Remus, the first film actress to portray Dorothy Gale, at AfD. I recommend keeping, and expanded the article a bit, and Clarityfiend graciously withdrew the nomination. I expanded it some more after that.
Knowing your deep knowledge of film history, I thought you might be interested in this actress, and might have access to other sources. Feel free to pitch in, and maybe we can get a "Did you know..." out of the deal. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 22:23, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

Interstellar
Hey, Michael! I was talking about Interstellar (a film in development with Nolan recently attached) with a friend today and remembered dealing with the topic back in 2006. Thought you'd like to see how I was in a related AfD during that time: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Interstellar (film). Help with an editor?
Hi Schmidt! I've got a question- are you overly familiar with photographs in film articles? I've got a new user that's working on the article for Ölü Bölgeden Fısıltılar and he's fairly new at everything. There is also a slight language barrier here as well, but not an unconquerable one. He looks like he wants to upload an image of the director, but the image he tried to link to was of a stock publicity photo rather than an image from the film set. What's the general rule of thumb when it comes to this sort of thing? I've never really added any images to an article beyond something to put in the infobox. Any help or advice you might want to give the editor (User:Gulgun G) would be appreciated. I think he might be involved with the film in some way, or at least I'm hoping so since that would make getting photo permissions a lot easier. His edits are good faith, in any way. I'm going to try to find someone on the Turkey WikiProject to help out just because there is that language barrier as well. It looks like the film does pass notability guidelines and could be improved with the sources I'd used, but there's only so much Google Translate can really do here.Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 11:27, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
- Forgive my talk page stalking, but here's my two cent's. As stated by film production expert Eve Light Honathaner in The Complete Film Production Handbook, (Focal Press, 2001 p. 211.):
"Publicity photos (star headshots) have traditionally not been copyrighted. Since they are disseminated to the public, they are generally considered public domain, and therefore clearance by the studio that produced them is not necessary."
Film industry author Gerald Mast, in Film Study and the Copyright Law (1989) p. 87, writes:
"According to the old copyright act, such production stills were not automatically copyrighted as part of the film and required separate copyrights as photographic stills. The new copyright act similarly excludes the production still from automatic copyright but gives the film's copyright owner a five-year period in which to copyright the stills. Most studios have never bothered to copyright these stills because they were happy to see them pass into the public domain, to be used by as many people in as many publications as possible."
So that said, the publicity photo most likely can be used when licensed correctly. In film articles, we can include not just photos of the set, but also key figures in the film (i.e. song composers, writers, director(s)). Bonkers The Clown (Nonsensical Babble) 11:52, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
- We also see multiple websites reposting a photo of the director here. Bonkers The Clown (Nonsensical Babble) 11:57, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
- One example I can think of (for use of publicity pictures) would be Wacko Jacko's Childhood Flame. Bonkers The Clown (Nonsensical Babble) 11:58, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
- We also see multiple websites reposting a photo of the director here. Bonkers The Clown (Nonsensical Babble) 11:57, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks Bonkers! I hate to be all needy and stuff, but can you help upload them? I'm sort of clueless at this stuff. The official film website has a lovely set of photos to choose from here, but I'm also concerned with the photos overwhelming the article since it's mostly a stub at this point. In any case, the publicity photo used wasn't really that great, in my opinion. (It's the main actor, I realize now.) It's a tiny black and white that doesn't seem to have come from the film itself, but was probably taken before the film started. I have to admit a preference for set photos, although that's ultimately a personal preference.Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 12:05, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
- A little better than a stub; start I would say. Here's what, I'll take a look... After I'm done with my homework and fried rice. :) Cheers, Bonkers The Clown (Nonsensical Babble) 12:11, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Removing an SPA tag
Maybe you can clear this up for me (I saw that you labeled a couple IPs SPAs on an AfD) - can editors remove an SPA tag placed by someone else, or is that considered removing someone's comment from the AfD? Inks.LWC (talk) 17:27, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- A SPA tag is a SPA tag. It is appropriate to so tag an anonymous IP that makes few or any edits outside a certain topic area, specially when the SPA is doing so to create a false consensus. It is inappropriate to remove such without explanation or due cause. Any particular one in mind? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 17:33, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- It's on the page you tagged. I had added them back after different IPs kept removing them without explanation, and I put the uw-afd template on the talk page, and another editor thought that was abusing talk page templates. I explained to him that my understanding of the refactoring AFD policy was that you can't remove an SPA tag if it was placed there and it pretty clearly applies, but I didn't actually see anything in writing anywhere. I told him I didn't really care if he removed the tags - I was just curious (and meant to post something on a talk page somewhere but forgot), but when I saw you add it and noticed you were an admin, I figured I'd ask. If you wanted to see the whole conversation it's at User talk:PinkAmpersand#January 2013, and then there's some discussion in the edit summaries at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Scott Menville. Like I said, I don't really care whether they're on that AFD - I think the closing admin will notice pretty easily what's going on with the IPs; I just wanted to know what the actual precedent was. Thanks for the help! Inks.LWC (talk) 17:41, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- Yup, it falls under removing someone else's comments. And yes, a closer will notice the SPA activity. What they fail to realize is that a whole slew of SPA anon IPs can say "delete per" till they're blue in the face, but a closer should/will pay attention to only those editors who make comments based upon policy and guideline. AFD is not-a-vote. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 17:45, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
- Right, and that's why I figured it wasn't a big deal to argue over. Life's too short to edit war over something that really doesn't matter. ;) Thanks again for the clarification though. Inks.LWC (talk) 17:51, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

A Good Day to Die Hard
Hi Schmidt. Happy Lunar New Year, regardless of whether you celebrate it. Do you think the rule of WP:SPOILER does not apply for A Good Day to Die Hard? I wish to add the full plot, having watched it, but User:BattleshipMan disagrees, because it will "spoil the surprise for American viewers". What's your take? Bonkers The Clown (Nonsensical Babble) 07:29, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
- What is your own take on WP:FILMPLOT? Personally, I think for a major new release that is soon to make the rounds, that a plot should be minimalist and avoid blatant spoliers. We can give a summary overview of the film's main events, and avoid minutiae like dialogue, scene-by-scene breakdowns, and technical detail. We can say enough to entice someone to want to learn more, but not pop any bubbles or ruin expectations. Once a film has been out for a while, additional information can be added. For A Good Day to Die Hard I would not want to learn prematurely that John McClain has regrown hair or if he actually dies at the end of the film. Consider for example The Cowboys... In years-later retrospect, it is appropriate to tell that John Wayne died in the course of protecting his charges, but when the release was brand new, such a spoiler could have ruined a viewer's anticipations. Sometimes, less is more. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 16:45, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
- I did follow FILMPLOT quite well enough, no bias, no technical details, no dialogues... Bruce Willis has not grown back hair, but as for death... The antagonists did die, as expected. Is that considered a spoiler? You know, maybe they should have kept the "Spoiler Warning' template. That way, readers would be further warned that they would be reading a potential spoiler. One example I can think of: Skyfall was released in UK before US, and the full plot was already revealed before the US release. Die hard 5 has already been released in many Asian territories, should we wait for the US release to reveal the "spoiler" parts? Bonkers The Clown (Nonsensical Babble) 02:09, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
- It would seem that at the very least, the infobox needs correction to reflect the film's actual release date, and not only its anticipated American one. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 05:35, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry Michael, could you clarify? When's the actual date? Bonkers The Clown (Nonsensical Babble) 14:20, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

Regarding the matter of INHERIT and Brady Haran's AfD
Hello there MichaelQSchmidt, thanks for trying to fresh things up, but I'm already familiar with inheritance regarding notability, generally it is accepted that notability is not inherit. There is a case by case analysis to show if the notability is in fact inheritable when the the article's subjects has a dubious precedence. For instance lemme summon a past case, Rebecca Black's article was deleted, but allowed to be recreated, but many people questioned its existence due to recentism and that notability is not inherit. Friday had a massive repercussion, but Rebecca Black was not notable, but suddenly things changed, because she received a lot of media attention and coverage, on her, and not only on her single. This is the case here, Brady Haran has notable projects, but there is lack of substantial coverage on him, BLP doesn't accept inheritance a person must have reliable evidences that show that the subject is independently notable. Eduemoni↑talk↓ 05:04, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
- As your final sentence appears to contradict existing BLP-related guidelines of WP:CREATIVE and WP:ENTERTAINER and WP:ANYBIO, can you share the link where WP:BLP in some manner states that a person may not be found notable through the verifiability of their creative efforts meeting WP:N? As his works are covered in multiple reliable sources and thus meet the criteria of WP:N, how can they be notable but not he as their creator? WP:N instructs that in the absence of SIGCOV, "A topic is also presumed notable if it meets the criteria outlined in a subject-specific guideline listed in the box on the right." (the "box" contains a list of some subject-specific guidelines). Point being is that while SIGCOV of an individual is fine and dandy... in guideline and policy understanding that not all notable topics make headline or stay in the news forever, SIGCOV is not the sole manner by which notability may be determined. I certainly appreciate your strike-out at the aforementioned AFD, but I would like to explore this a bit more. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 05:27, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

Chuck Palahniuk
Thanks for the information. Anyway there are two other novels of the same author which have been announced to be published in the next few years. I had added them on February 13 but they've been removed. The source is the most reliable ( the web-site of the author himself ) but I don't want to cause trouble anymore, so judge for yourself if they are worth adding. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stergiosss (talk • contribs) 09:00, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
- That's why I sent you to PRIMER. One might feel that the author's own website could be the most accurate, but that runs afoul of the Wikipedia requirement for reliable soucres... that is, a wesite that has editorial oversight and an established reputaion for fact-checking and accuracy. THough he did not, Palahniuk could have written on his website that the mon was made of green cheese... but being on his website does not make that statement accurate nor reliable. Hoever, if you recheck the article at Chuck Palahniuk#Fiction, you will see that I r-eadded the information contextually in the sentence "According to a February 15 2013 article in The Oregonian, Palahniuk has announced titles and release dates for his next three fiction works: Doomed is to be released on October 8 2013, Beautiful You is to follow in October 2014, and Make Something Up for an unspecified date in 2015."[7] The source I cite is the newspaper The Oregonian, a source with the required editorial oversight and reputation for fact-checking and accuracy... and the sentence develops from their reporting Palahniuk's announcement after they checked the facts. Please check a PROD
Just to calm a lurking twinge in my conscience, would you check that I was right to PROD-delete this? The reason for the twinge is that the PROD is the first and only edit by a new user (no edits on :it, either); but by what I can check, everything he says is right and AfD would be a waste of time. IMDb shows the guy only as producer for one unreleased film, the U of Pisa website doesn't have him, and searches for his supposed companies and films just return WP mirrors - the article has been here over 7 years, so it has spread all over the web. It was deleted from Italian WP in 2009. If you think it should have a chance at AfD, I will dig it up, but I am more inclined to give the PRODder a barnstar. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Brandon Ratcliff, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Newtown, Pennsylvania, Breathe and Kellie Wells (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

DYK for The Decay of Fiction
On 7 March 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article The Decay of Fiction, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that during the eight-year course of making The Decay of Fiction, in which he honors the past of the Ambassador Hotel, director Pat O'Neill collaborated with 45 actors and spent US$250,000? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Decay of Fiction. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Request
Hi. I like to request for you to delete two redirects. A few weeks back, I created an article for the upcoming film Transcendence. I had it as Transcendence (film). Today, an editor moved it to (2014 film) so that he could create his own version. I need that deleted so that I can restore it back to before his edits. Also, I inadvertently created one that was like this: Transcendence ( ilm). That one needs to be deleted too. If you can, that would be great.Rusted AutoParts 04:25, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
- Could not find Transcendence (ilm) , and both Transcendence (film) and Transcendence (2014 film) both currently redirect to Wally Pfister. What are your needs? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 04:35, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
- The (film) version redirect needs to be deleted. The ilm redirect has been sorted. With 2014's presence, it creates a conflict as there's no other film called Transcendence and therefore it is unnecessary. Plus I already had the redirect created.Rusted AutoParts 04:53, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
- A redirect to a redirect. Haarumph. Transcendence (film) deleted as requested. Per it being an unneccesary diambig, go ahead and now WP:MOVE the Transcendence (2014 film) one to Transcendence (film) without leaving another redirect behind. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 05:06, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

Hello. You, another editor, and I were involved in the past in a discussion construing GNG. At the time you and I agreed, but perhaps you will not here.
He and I are discussing the notability of the subject of an article here. If you have any thoughts, either way of course, that would be helpful, since I know you spend a good deal of time thinking about these issues. In particular, discussion is centering on what "routine coverage" means under the applicable wp policy, and in regard to that article. Thanks.--Epeefleche (talk) 07:13, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

- Please... Urgent! I am unable to watch the movie... So I guess you know more about the plot than I do. Thanks ☯ Bonkers The Clown \(^_^)/ Nonsensical Babble ☯ 09:29, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
- Will do what I can. The plot is a rather strange collection of visuals, and in some of the film's showings, rather than being only watchable in a liner fashion by an audience, it was sometimes shown in an interactive format where viewers at galleries could push buttons and decide which part of the film they could explore and in what order. Strange experimental piece. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 09:47, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

Hello! This subject film's advertisement introduced the male lead actor Hormusji Tantra as "the 'Irving' of the Indian stage". Any idea who this Irving could be? Considering the 1917's release and the film production company's association with American/British films, i am thinking he must be some American/British actor who was famous then. I couldn't find any possible match on Wikipedia. And chances are also that he isn't notable to be here or anywhere in writing. But still thought of giving a try. You might know of some possible American actor. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 05:10, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
- From context of this source The "Irving" is quite likely a reference to producer Irving Thalberg, quite a key player in American cinema of that era, and one whose works had far-reaching and international influence. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 05:21, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

Savable article?
Hi Schmidt- I was wondering if you'd take a quick peek at Common Bonds to see if it's savable. It's an indie film made back in 1997 that received predominantly local coverage, but did receive an article from the Chicago Tribune. I'm leaning towards it being non-notable, but it's got just enough coverage to where it might barely squeak by. I'm not firm enough on it to remove the PROD, so I thought I'd ask you what you thought. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 06:53, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
- Worth saving, yes. I'd decline the prod as being just notable enough to meet WP:NF and enough coverage back in 1996-1998. We do not expect all films to have the same level of coverage as do the big budget studio blockbusters, and a film made by first-time filmmakers being covered in Daily News of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and ABC Eyewitness News is notable enough to be included (less the redlinks). An imprssive enough feat for teenagers back in 1995-96... the making and selling of a feature film. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 07:20, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Alf Seccombe
Hiya Michael, how are things. I found Alf Seccombe while doing NPP and I am shaky on the notability. I can't read the references (firewall restrictions at my desk), but I don't think it is there. The article has enough to pass CSD threshold, but I am leaning towards AfD. Problem is I can't read the sources (4/5), could you have a look and let me know what you think? If there is room to improve I am game, but I doubt there is. Best, --kelapstick(bainuu) 04:25, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- Also credited by his full name, "Alfred Seccombe", he does have some coverage in central California as "Alf", [8] and some further afield as "Alfred".[9] as well as coverage in such as IndieWire and Filmmaker Magazine. While not as "famous" as such as Quinton Tarantino, he has coverage in those sources suitable for indie filmmakers, and we do not expect all filmmakers to be A-listers or DGA Award winners. As we have sources available for expansion and improvement, I'd think this one just notable enough. Tag it and put in a request for assistance fixing it over at project film.Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 04:48, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you Michael, much obliged. I always value your opinion in such matters. --kelapstick(bainuu) 05:52, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Transcendence
Hi there, the same editor did it again. I need it deleting once more as there doesn't need to be a Transcendence (2014 film) redirect. Rusted AutoParts 02:53, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
- What a mess. The redirect loops back on itself and I am think both self-redirecting redirects for Transcendence (2014 film) and Transcendence (film) need to be deleted... and both protected if recreated a third time. Is the film article at the incubator, or was it deleted via AFD? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 03:11, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
- My two cents: delete both as they serve no value, the film article not available as of yet. And salt to prevent recreation. A redirect redirecting to a redirect... Complicated. ☯ Bonkers The Clown \(^_^)/ Nonsensical Babble ☯ 03:19, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
- Done and done... both of 'em. And due to recreation, gave justified reasoning for salting for six months. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 04:37, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
- IMDb mentions that the status is filming, but I have not seen a reliable source mention that. I'm pretty sure it is underway either already or starting tomorrow. We just need to keep an eye open for a good source to go ahead and have the article. Erik (talk | contribs) 11:44, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
- Only salted for six months, due to re-creation of a looped redirect. Always happy to unsalt whan an article is possible. Like you, I have not seen a reliable source speaking about the film beyond it only going into casting,[10] and nothing about when it might begin filming. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 18:04, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
Dear God, we need to save this article somehow!
The article up for discussion is the sequel, In Search of the Titanic, but I'm more focused on trying to source the article for the first film, The Legend of the Titanic. This looks to have been the most epically bad film ever made- a fantasy version of the Titanic story where talking and singing animals help save everyone from dying. Yeah. The Titanic probably spun in its watery grave when this stuff was released. I'm hoping that you can find some sources I can't for either film so we can merge the two articles together because this is pretty much the type of cheese I love saving on Wikipedia for posterity. I figured if anyone can work some magic, you can! Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:09, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

His own words in the entry *are* biased, if you want an entire run down of how that article is biased let me know and i shall knock something up.
But yes, *informed* opinion on this film is that it is a government propaganda wet dream & like i said plays into a dangerous narrative and prejudices a pivotal case that's in court right now. On 26 June 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that for the film Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret, principle filming began as the trial was underway and its courtroom scenes were shot two days after the trial's conclusion? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. I have been participating in Articles for Creation, DYK, and the Teahouse project in order to make it so that I am not only focused on the deletion processes. I am terrified of the RFA process. Like my user page says, I loathe talking to admins that I have never conversed with before. It's fine if I talk to them for a while and get used to them, but I have seen the many bad sides of how admins handle things. I think that my view of admins alone will not get me promoted and I have never kept that secret. I am also afraid of what that "power" will do to me as in whether I change how I act towards new editors or that I won't change my ways, but editors will be afraid to approach me. I was going to at least leave for a while after I was blocked for 31 hours because an admin baited me. The block was revoked, I wasn't held at fault, and the baiting admin apologized. - Participation by notable can impart notability enough to be worth a mention elsewhere, even if a separate article is deemed unwarranted. But even a crappy or low budget film can have notability through just enough coverage, as we do not demand that such coverage itself be world-wide. I am aware of the AFd and have plans to work on the article itself later today before offering any opinion at the discussion. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 00:50, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
- Okay. Thanks for your reply. The movie doesn't seem to have had made a lot of waves but it certainly involves notables like Craig Ferguson. The other deletion discussion I was wondering about is Pamella D'Pella. She's had some roles in things and it would be sad to see her work busting out in Caged Heat 2 lost to posterity, but I don't know that she as received a lot of substantial coverage in reliable independent sources. Not really sure how an accomplished but not famous actor's biography should be handled. Candleabracadabra (talk) 01:25, 8 July 2013 (UTC)'

Sorta conflicted
Hey Schmidt, I've got a favor to ask. I've been doing some edits on the article for Karen Kondazian and the book she wrote, The Whip, and I'm a little conflicted on how to proceed. I don't really have any questions of notability for the actress herself, but I'm having a little trouble with the fact that the main editing has been done by people with a COI. I guess what I'm asking is if you can just keep an eye on the main page for her to just ensure that there's no edit warring. I don't think that there will be- the people who have edited for her have been perfectly nice, but I've gotten burned a lot recently by people who have edited with a COI to where I've learned it's better to ask someone to just sort of keep an eye on things before they go pear shaped. I really don't want to lose the main article on her because someone else sees the COI and tries to nuke everything. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:24, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

- I have added a different image with different description which illustrates the courage of the dog. User:Pseudonymous Rex claims that I have removed the template without successfully addressing the concern which he originally claimed, "The image does not illustrate courage". DYK for Duck! The Carbine High Massacre
On 31 July 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Duck! The Carbine High Massacre, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that actress Erin Brown said that Duck! The Carbine High Massacre was a "crappy little movie" which "has permanently staked its place in underground cult cinema"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Duck! The Carbine High Massacre. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

- I appreciate Michael's opinions, but this may be considered canvassing. SL93 (talk) 22:43, 31 July 2013 (UTC)
- Not at all. "Canvassing" would be in a widespread notifications or a request that I opine at the discussion in a manner favorable to one side or the other. Check the discussion's page history and you will find I visited it days ago to include alternate find sources... long before Lugnuts stopped by and neutrally suggested I might find it of interest. Nope, not a canvassing. Schmidt, Michael Q. 23:05, 31 July 2013 (UTC)
- Just saying that it could be considered canvassing, not that it was canvassing. I did the same thing, without asking the editor to vote for my side, and it was said that I was canvassing. Then again, I have been called a troll, a human rights violator, a censorship supporter, (and recently) that I like to lick the asses of other DYK contributors to get their approval, etc. :/ SL93 (talk) 23:09, 31 July 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry to hear that others treated you with disrespect, but as Lugnuts has been coordinator of project film for a while, I feel certain his neutral note about something of which I was already aware could not be considered canvassing. Schmidt, Michael Q. 23:15, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

For various reasons this struck me as an interesting if not earth shattering production and I was sorry to see it get deleted. Do you have access to any sources covering it substantially enough to warrant restoration? The main concern seemed to be that while there was some press before the show's launch, it didn't seem to have received any coverage or to have mustered much of an impact once released. Thanks for any assistance and consideration you can provide. Take care and have a nice week. Candleabracadabra (talk) 19:02, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

New essay
Hi MQS-- I wanted to ask if you might take a look at an essay I am working on and let me know what your thoughts are on it. I have a few questions/comments:
- Is this essay redundant based on guidelines like WP:AGF and essays like WP:DIVA & Wikipedia:Charitableness?
- Do the examples convey the idea well? I have a couple of alternatives I'm considering, but if you have ideas or experiences any based on the idea I am putting forth in the essay, let me know.
- While I firmly believe that this is an important concept that has guided my interactions on Wikipedia, and I think it is important to share it with others, I am unsure of what situations this essay might be appropriately used. I sort of get the feeling that this could come off as "holier than thou" when used in many discussions (e.g. akin to linking to WP:CIR in discussion with the non-competent editor).
- I really liked how David Foster Wallace illustrated this concept because he did it in a way that wasn't so much moral preaching and more, "if you allow yourself to think on your default setting, which is something I'm guilty of all the time, you'll be miserable." I don't think that comes across well in this essay and it's something I'd like to work on more before bringing out of my sandbox.
Any other comments or thoughts would be appreciated, and you are welcome to make direct changes if you feel so inclined. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 17:21, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
- Nice work. Seems to be a logical expansion on WP:Assume no clue in that it encourages editors to look beyond appearances. Perhaps WP:Others are complex (shortcut WP:OAC) could be a bit simpler as an essay name and draw others into reading why and how to apply the concept. Also, decide if your target demographic is experienced editors or newbs, and adjust wording and proferred exapmples to fit the experience level... (ie: I wrote WP:PRIMER for rank newcomers, expecting/hoping that they would improve their skills to the point where the essay could be left behind). You might include a section referencing WP:BITE and its WP:BITE#See also's and share that THAT guideline is not meant only toward newcomers, but is a one which should guide every editors interactions with others. Also you might consider refferencing John Green (author) in the lede, such as
ALAN Conference, author John Green expanded on the importance of seeing others as complex individuals. Cvility issues, misunderstandings, and discomfort on Wikipedia often arising from a failure to imagine other editors complexly. These failures can arise in all kinds of situations and goes further beyond smply assuming good faith in other editors." Concisely put, it is always best to look at a situation from a perspective other than one's own. Imagine oneself in another's shoes and go for a walk.
- Maybe? Schmidt, Michael Q. 18:52, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
- The essay is a great idea and has the important points. I am really tired of others being put on a pedestal, especially when it goes to the head of whoever receives the extreme praise. Eric Corbett has never changed his Wikipedia activity, but many editors rush to his aid when he says that he will retire. I could care less about why he decides to retire at times, but he does have his devoted audience, whether he intended for that to happen or not. I respect that Dr. Blofeld has created many articles, but he does have his devoted audience as well. I'm not sure if its because of his praise, but he did say that he was the most constructive editor on the website and he also said that I like to lick the asses of other DYK contributors to get their approval. There was even a discussion on the DYK talk page a while back about himself, as someone with the most DYKS, to have his own hook. It wasn't started by him and many people from his audience, if not all of them, voted in favor of it. I know that there are other situations, but these two stick out in my mind. SL93 (talk) 07:35, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- I've often wondered if "rushing to their aid" is something that most editors actually want out of their experience on Wikipedia when tensions are running high. I think editors like to feel supported by other editors pretty much universally, and when the editing gets hot, this seems especially so. It is a collaborative project, and so there is considerable value in one's questionable behavior being affirmed or at least tolerated by the community. Anyway, that's beyond the scope of this essay, but I understand what you mean. I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 07:24, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback, MQS. I was thinking about making this go under WP:IMAGINE (can't believe it hasn't been taken yet), WP:COMPLEXITY]. I think I will shorten and adjust the lead with the bit from John Green, and may shorten with the title to just "Imagine others complexly." (maybe request WP:IOC for short). I'll do another once-over on the tone, as I think this is definitely definitely going to be directed at experienced editors. Your suggestions about referencing other pages were also very helpful! I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 07:24, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

A Million Ways to Die in the West
Do you think you could perform a history merge? A Million Ways to Die in the West was originally here. The whole issue with User:Captain Assassin! is currently under scrutiny here and it makes sense for the history at A Million Ways to Die in the West (film) to be merged. Having an unnecessary redirect also isn't necessary, which is why I request this history merge. Rusted AutoParts 21:01, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Horror Story?
I've received a query about the NAC of the AfD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Horror Story (2013 film). I am somewhat torn here. I respect you as a film expert, Lugnuts as an experienced editor also in the film area, and TG79 as a diligent digger in any area, but I do agree with the questioner that less than 24 hours was a little short for consensus and non-admin closing. I know little about Indian films (having watched a few in total incomprehension, but owning a few CDs of Bollywood music), so it's the procedural side I'm interested in here. I'm contacting TG79 as another involved admin, and Tito Dutta as closer, and would appreciate your views on my talk page (rather than go to a drama board), if you get the chance. Cheers. Peridon (talk) 10:27, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- I dropped an email to Tito to give him the heads-up and ask why, as I did not wish to publicly chastise him if it were not really necessary. I have no real doubt that the close would have eventually gone that way regardless, and I explained to him that a relatively new editor such as the nominator who gets a resounding snow or a speedy keep ends up learning more through the discussion and close after six or seven days than one whose nominations are simply closed without discussion. Tito was aghast and apologetic... explaining that he spends so much time reviewing India Film AFDs, he had felt sure that he had seen that one for many days. He promised me he'd be more careful, and I believe Him. If the AFD is re-opened as a matter of procedure, that would be fine with me... and perhaps after more discussion and more keeps, that nominator might himself learn the value of proper WP:BEFORE. Care to do it, or shall I? Schmidt, Michael Q. 10:51, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

Man of Steel 2 (film)
Since the consensus seems to be to delete or redirect, could you delete or redirect Man of Steel 2 (film)? Lady Lotus (talk) 12:17, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
- Too soon to make that request... as the topic is still being mulled over and it is common practice that 1) a deletion discussion remain open for 7 days, and 2) if closed, be done so who has not involved himself in the discussion. While deletion seems the fate, we also have options still being discussed... incubation, userfication, and then redirection of the searchable title(s) to somewhere that serves the readers. We will have three more days to go. Patience. Schmidt, Michael Q. 12:51, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

AFD
I was actually going to do that very thing. Then bang I see guy1890's very poor attempt at a hit job for bringing an issue to Mark A.'s attention. Now that there's someone posting supporting my view he's gone and erased that support by making a baseless accusation. I've replied to Mark, and hopefully something gets done there. However you're right I'm out, all I'm doing is polarizing what should be a simple procedure. Caffeyw (talk) 15:33, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
- The only thing that's likely to "get done" will likely be done to "Caffeyw", not I. It's obvious to more than a few editors so far that "Caffeyw" doesn't know what they are doing at AfD or apparently at the New Page Patrol. It's really beyond disruptive behavior by now IMHO. Guy1890 (talk) 07:05, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- It's possible he may eventually learn that speedy-ing, and then AFD-ing brand new articles when the speeedy is declined, is not the way to build an encyclopedia and is considered by some to be WP:DISRUPTIVE and WP:POINTy in its effects on others in our community. QUOTE: "Disruptive editing is a pattern of editing that may extend over a long time or many articles, and disrupts progress towards improving an article or building the encyclopedia." Sadly, this seems to describe his overall course of editing activity, however well-intended they may or may not be. I have at several AFD's encouraged that he would be far more convincing if he actually showed an understanding and application of WP:WIP, WP:DEL#REASON, WP:BEFORE, WP:ATD and WP:HANDLE. And of course sending newcomer's works to deletion without giving any a chance to be improved through tagging for attention is harmful in its WP:BITE. If he were to ever create content, rather than placing his inexperience in judgement over the work of others, he might better understand the meaning of WP:SOFIXIT and WP:COMMUNITY. Schmidt, Michael Q. 07:30, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- I've been watching what you've been trying to do with "Caffeyw" in numerous AfDs, but, unfortunately, I don't see any of it sinking in with them. Your efforts so far have been admirable, but I agree that this may not end well at some point. The whole thing has seemed odd for quite some time. I don't fully understand what is going on here...not contributing significant amounts of content but being quite willing to sit in judgement of other people's work is odd behavior IMHO. Guy1890 (talk) 07:49, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- Before any decision is made to take him to WP:ANI, it is best to show a pattern of patience and advising him in his actions. Any editor ignores policy and guideline at their own risk. I hope he chooses to learn rather than ignore. WP:IDHT does not sit well. Schmidt, Michael Q. 07:54, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- It is not understandable —why they are going to individual admins. If he wants to complain, ANI is the best place to report "Tito is evil". --Tito☸Dutta 08:11, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

Guy1890 (talk) 07:49, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- It needs a revision first. And hook "first Indian 3D film with dinosaur", there is only one hook there. Interesting one, hanks to Mr. Steven Spielberg. I have never seen such an attacking review. Hi there. I stumbled on the William Flannery article and was trying to find some information on his supposed wife? I can't find a single source even mentioning her. I guess maybe she was a minor silent film supporting actress? It seems strange that I can't find anything, but maybe she was just more of an aspiring actress. Anyway, I hope you're having a great week. All the world's a stage. Candleabracadabra (talk) 01:33, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

Hollathag SPI
Hi. I'm one of the clerks at the Sockpuppet Investigations page. Regarding your SPI report for possible socks of Hollathag, we need more details. You gave some "contributions" links for the accounts in question, but the people who work at SPI really need specific diffs — that is, identify specific instances of editing by each account which exhibit the behaviour that led you to believe sockpuppetry was happening. Please go back and update your report with more specifics; otherwise, the report will most likely be closed and archived without any investigation taking place. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 20:18, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

article opinion
I know enough to go by your opinion at a film AfD, so I might as well just ask you first about JuntoBox Films. Have any of these projects come to anything? Is the Hollywood Reporter article enough for notability ? DGG ( talk ) 05:24, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- More than that "one", I can consider the seven other citations in which the company or its works are spoken of in independent sources. And not used is another from Forbes. Not as notable as Sony or Panasonic but I think notable enough for Wikipedia. The connection to Forest Whitaker has simply helps. It needs editorial attention, not deletion. Schmidt, Michael Q. 06:18, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
Interaction
Notice how on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Twin Cities hip hop, where I located several sources for something that you said was non-notable, I did not bring up your name, insult you, or act passive-aggressive in any way. In fact, I did not interact with you in any way, and I kept to on-topic, policy-based arguments. This is how I would prefer our interactions to occur. If I happen to state that something is non-notable, and you disagree, how about we just simply agree to disagree and we leave each other alone? Does this sound reasonable? NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 08:40, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- Just as you have posted on my talk page, I had posted on yours. Thank you for bring the situation to my attention. With the new sources, I was happy to change my opinion. My google-fu is not infallible, and I always welcome visits that keep me informed. Schmidt, Michael Q. 09:01, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I was originally going to seek your opinion on the matter, but I decided it would be better to just avoid interaction and leave you alone, given that we'd been involuntarily dragged to ANI already and had disagreements over policy that struck me as bordering on personal. Maybe if I had followed through, we would have been able to have more positive interactions with each other and find common ground. I'm not sure what you're trying to insinuate about me on the Gladiator AfD, but I honestly did try to establish notability for that article, as I have successfully done for many others. As I said there, I may have high standards for notability (too high? that's a valid criticism, and I welcome constructive criticism on the matter), but I really don't see how your views on me as a person are on topic for a deletion proposal. Snide, passive-aggressive comments on how I've failed to "rescue" (with requisite scare quotes) an article don't serve any purpose. I have in the past worked hard to save articles. I spent four months rewriting Cult film and transformed it from a poorly-written, stream-of-consciousness essay full of original research into an 8000+ word article with over 160 sources; I originally intended to take it all the way to Featured, but I felt too burnt out. Someone in a merger discussion argued that MAME did not establish notability, so his article did not have to, either. I spent a few days searching for enough sources to conclusively establish notability for MAME. I also rescued PCSX2 by locating several sources for that, as well, and I coached the development team on how to satisfy the WP:GNG, so that they could save the article from deletion. I'm not even all that fond of emulators, but the articles struck me as noteworthy. I'm honestly a bit tired of being called a deletionist, and I'm beginning to resent this undeserved reputation that I seem to be getting, just because I have rather high standards for notability. My efforts have, at times, included dedicating myself to weeks or even months of effort in order to save and rewrite articles. I don't see how you get off using scare quotes and insinuating bad faith in your comments on The Gladiator. Yes, I'm taking it too personally and too seriously, but this kind of bothers me. I'm perfectly capable of rescuing articles, and I resent the implication that I'm a zealous deletionist. I also resent the insinuation that I'm incapable of locating reliable sources, when I have in the past located over 160+ sources for an article, including purchasing materials myself. I realize that has turned into a rant, but this is highly frustrating to me, and I'm not sure that I'm making my point by being concise. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 09:51, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- Ugh. I'm getting too worked up over this. This reads like "I once wrote a long article and saved two random articles, so screw off." My point is supposed to be that I'm perfectly capable of finding sources and rescuing articles, but sometimes editors will disagree about interpretations of policy or even the policy itself. And sometimes editors will miss out on a few reliable sources (or even dispute the reliability/notability/applicability said sources) when they're searching. If we're incapable of interacting politely with each other, then perhaps we should simply not interact with each other at all. I'll try not to take your comments so personally, but they are starting to bother me. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 10:21, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

Advice?
Hey Schmidt, I've got an iffy one here: I have a documentary that has only ever been released on DVDs for Halloween, Halloween: Unmasked. Almost everything mentions it as an aside, so I'm leaning towards trying to find a way to merge some of the information in the main article for the film series and redirect there. Most of what I've found fall along these lines: [13], [14]. It's mentioned, but not really ever given anything in-depth. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:50, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
- @ User:Tokyogirl79 Keep in mind that multiple less-than-trivial sources can show notability even if they are not in-depth or substantial. It's a documentary, after all... and they rarely have the level of coverage and commentary as do their feature film narrative breathren... lesser financing, lesser promotion, niche genre, etc. What may be best is to decline the speedy as 1) A7 is a lesser standard than WP:NF and 2) it IS a sourcable title. Perform a bold and sourced merge to Halloween_(1978_film)#Influence and set a redirect. If the redirect is reverted, request additional sources from the reverter and if they are less than trivial, allow a recreation. Schmidt, Michael Q. 08:06, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
- It ended up that it was mentioned already at Halloween_(1978_film)#Home_video_release, so I just redirected it there. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:17, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
- Cool. Same advice applies: If someone redirects it, simply request better sources. :) Schmidt, Michael Q. 08:22, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

The Yellow Wallpaper AFD re: NPA
Hello, Michael. Regarding your comment at the Yellow Wallpaper AFD, I don't see anyone in the discussion saying it was unreasonable or desperate to look for sources using the principal actors. What personal attacks are you referring to? Were you insinuating that my factual reply was phrased inappropriately (because it's not even slightly close to a personal attack), or was it regarding something else? Just wanted to clarify, thanks. -- Wikipedical (talk) 03:32, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- At Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Yellow Wallpaper (film), an editor (not you) decided it wise or polite to state my offering alternative sources was "a desperate attempt". - Thanks for bringing this to my attention. It seems vandals have been visiting the article and adding personal images to replace the logo image. Their vandalism has been reverted and fixed. The image is no longer orphaned. Thanks, Schmidt, Michael Q. 23:56, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
Keep an eye on an editor?
Hey Schmidt- I've got a favor to ask. I declined a speedy on User:Portlandfilm/Portland film festival because I do think that they (User:Portlandfilm) have genuine good faith here. They created it in their userspace, which was a good decision, but it was fairly puffy in tone. They requested help with the article, which put them up a notch as far as their intents go. I've cleaned the article and warned them about their username (blocked them, but told them it was only over the username and that they could change it), so there's not really anything to be done right at this instant. I just figured that they're new, they have a COI, and that you're less likely than many other film related editors to hold their COI against them. I'm going to keep an eye out for them as well, but I figured that you'd be a good person to ask for help with. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:12, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Jurassic Shark saver barnstar
File:Devon Sharks LOGO.jpg | Jurassic Shark saver barnstar |
Jurassic Shark — I have watched the movie, it was a disaster. I told this thing to User:Bgwhite last year. At that time we did not have any article on this movie. Today when I saw an article has been created, I thoroughly checked its revision history. You deserve a barnstar for your work in that article. -- Tito☸Dutta 10:51, 16 December 2013 (UTC) |
Titodutta, have you seen Sharknado yet? Would be interesting what shark "film" was, hmmm better is not the right word, less craptasitic. Bgwhite (talk) 20:15, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- As long as production companies try to build on the fame of the classic Jaws and NOT really know what they are doing, we will have more craptastic shark films. Schmidt, Michael Q. 21:02, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- @Bgwhite:, not I have not watched the film Sharknado. I want to watch only good English films. Sometimes I get films like this Jurassic Shark. It is very surprising to see that the Wikipedia article survived. See the first version of the article. The article was (naturally) taken to AFD (could be CSD-ed), and it was saved from that point. Such wonderful effort must be posted in Wikipedia's fame wall. --Tito☸Dutta 01:43, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- Is there such a "wall of fame" for those who help in preserving content? Schmidt, Michael Q. 02:01, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- lol. That maybe the funniest start to a article I have ever seen. Nobody probably ever thought that that is a film that probably existed which makes it even funnier. Jhenderson 777 03:40, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- Agreed... not a very auspicious start for an article... but after finding it sent to AFD less than two hours after it was created, and after doing just a little research, the darn thing almost wrote itself. Just goes to show that even the crappiest beginnings can grow to become something worth keeping. Schmidt, Michael Q. 04:14, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
Is there such a "wall of fame" for those who help in preserving content?
— don't know. TeaHouse or Help Desk might answer. If there is not any, create one. Your work in this article might be a fine opened. I too agree, the article had a WEIRD start, the more amazing fact is, that article survived. I don't know why it was not taken to DYK. --Tito☸Dutta 04:25, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Meets GNG?
I just created an article for the webseries Marble Hornets. It's still in my userspace, as I'm unsure if it would pass notability guidelines. There's just enough to where it could go either way. Could you take a look and let me know what you think? (User:Tokyogirl79/Marble Hornets) My biggest concern is that the majority of coverage is for the movie, which hasn't been mentioned since February. I know that doesn't mean much, but the coverage for this webseries is somewhat sporadic. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 10:34, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

- Hmmm. I really just meant redirection. Although I suppose some of the information there might be worth salvaging. I just thought in all honestly you probably summed up in your essay with what is probably already said on the film project page. If it isn't redundant to your page. Then I will allow with whatever you want to be saved on there. I just expect your essay to be better written and it's already less of a orphan than mine in discussion pages. Jhenderson 777 19:00, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
- Redirect is fine, though discussion on how and when to allow and format film project articles has come up again over at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film. Schmidt, Michael Q. 19:02, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

I am trying to help Darkwarriorblake to get more opinions on this. He is desperate to have this image to stay...and you are one of those editors that I feel are really good at knowing and explaining guidelines and policy. Jhenderson 777 20:40, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
- ? Jhenderson777... Which image? Schmidt, Michael Q. 20:57, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
- Actually I meant video and I created the section header of the file. Also here for the FFD. He is getting so upset that I think he might be getting a little far in his comments...but trust me he is a editor who wants his best for Wikipedia. He is definitely responsible for creating FA's and GA's. He's that good. Jhenderson 777 21:04, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
- Maybe get it into the Commons? Or find a page where the creators publicly release the video for re-use elsewhere? 21:16, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

- Are you aware of the guidelines in Commons? They only allow free-use with a lot of different licenses. Also they rarely allow non public-domain fictional characters (Batman) in Wikimedia Commons and of course not fictional media unless we can contact the studio. I am going to link Darkwarriorblake's link here so you can discuss here if you want for I am busy with something else so far. Jhenderson 777 21:22, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
- I am still listening to you though. I don't mean to sound rude with the "being busy with something else so far." Jhenderson 777 21:30, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
- My file uploading has been for the most part limited to film posters. And never video clips. Perhaps to underscore flaws in some opponent's arguments about how a single frame could cover the information shared in a 50-second clip, he could go ahead and write a few dozen thousand words describing in text the information covered in the 50-second clip. Might even expand the article enough with sheer descriptive prose to get a DYK for expansion. Schmidt, Michael Q. 21:32, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

I'm wishing you a Merry Christmas, because that is what I celebrate. If you don't like Christmas or just don't celebrate it in any of its forms, then please accept a generic "Happy Holidays". If you celebrate no holidays at this time of year, then hopefully you will be satisfied with an even more generic "Season's Greetings". :)

I like what you've done with the article. I'm fairly sure the updated article describes a totally different project to the original so it's just a convenient coincidence they share a name. I've withdrawn my nomination as, to all intents and purposes, the original article no longer exists. Good work, that was a really nice example of BOLD editing. Whatcha think?
I've been working on an article for an uber indie film that I think is kind of neat. I really want to move this to the mainspace, but I want to make sure that this would pass notability guidelines as it is. I know that when it releases it'll gain coverage, but it's kind of one of those iffy type of articles since much of the coverage is local. Actually, I'm going to go ahead and go for it and leave a bit of a warning on the talk page that I'm unsure of it and that I'm willing to take it back into my userspace if there are any concerns. You can find the article at Death Walks. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 15:23, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

- @Tokyogirl79: I took a look... good job on the article. I do think for a no-budget film it will do well when finally released. However, it's current coverage might be considered by some to be just tad sparse to meet the coverage requisites set in WP:NFF (paragraph 3... BUT there is enough to expand the article's sourcing enough so I'd support it remaining in mainspace until release. Schmidt, Michael Q. 15:58, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
DeProded
Hi! Even from the little exposure of the American films and television i recognized Gil McKinney and decided to deProd the article giving one reference that i found easily. Well, the editor who Proded is also Indian so i'll assume his action in good faith, but lacking a bit of WP:COMPETENCE. Anyways.... Came in here to bring the article to your notice as you can easily work on it and make it look better than what it is now. The "notability" tag can also be removed later on from the article. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 07:22, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
