Hi there MATT, AL "here" kickstarting another wiki-week,

in this ref (don't know your Spanish "situation" but i'll send it anyway, see here http://historiasdesegunda.com/2012/01/06/la-sangre-azul-celeste-de-iago-aspas/), it clearly says the player played for Rápido de Bouzas (fourth paragraph, immediately below Aleksandr Mostovoi's picture), on loan. Don't know the rest of the world, but for example Portuguese and Spanish clubs loan their youths on occasion. It reads "Se fue cedido al Rápido de Bouzas, también de División de Honor, donde destacó, y donde también conocieron su lado más fogoso.", meaning "He went to Rápido de Bouzas on loan, also in the Honour Division, where he excelled, and where they also got to know his darkest side.".

User:Ooaaaa has removed from Aspas' box for the second time now, without one word in his summary. Suggestions please? Attentively --AL (talk) 14:33, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

HONOURS

Hi there MTW, AL "here",

After my run-in in Gaizka Mendieta regarding this subject, the following: i am getting sincerely and utterly fed up with this lack of consensus regarding the players' accolades. A lot of users say one thing, a lot of users say another...To add insult to injury, 99,999999% of the users that remove the runner-up honours do it without one word of explanation.

The bottom line, without one bit of grey area, is that medals are handed out to the runners-up and, in some competitions, to the THIRD-PLACED team, makes no sense having users decide "This is not an honour" when IT IS! Regardless of a guy having two wins (thus mentioning the second-places all of a sudden being worthy) or 50 (in that case, no "he has not won any runner-up medals" even if he has).

A related but different item would be if we, as an encyclopedia, deemed that stuff not worthy of being in the article of a sportsperson (the second or third-places that is). What happens is that i see we sometimes allow it, and sometimes don't allow it. Why if i may ask? In managers, i bet Tito Vilanova is the only manager in the wiki-world who is entitled to have his ASSISTANT MANAGER honours in his page, when many many many assistant coaches have done THE SAME. More "fun facts": there is this huge/neverending beef with the runner-up team honours isn't it? Well, football is a TEAM sport, and i don't see anybody getting uptight with the less important INDIVIDUAL honours, those stay.

(NOTE: i am also leaving this very message in User:GiantSnowman's talk)Attentively --AL (talk) 20:46, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

  • How many discussions do you wager i've brought forth at WP:FOOTY? I'm 100% sure more than ten, which yielded the grand total consensus of...0%, everybody pretty much does as they please. In the meantime, the guy that reverted me in Mendieta can say all he wants, a CHAMPIONS LEAGUE runner-up finish is an honour, but i'm not going to edit war, sick and tired of wasting energy! He ("he" being pretty much everybody i'm going against here at WP, and i don't mean subjects that are consensual, i mean stuff like this which is not) wins. --AL (talk) 22:49, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
  • GS is not active it seems, so maybe that is why he has not replied. PJ is active though, could not be bothered to reply here or in my talkpage, at least i tried hey? In an unrelated note, could you please see that Ernesto Amantegui is deleted? Has only played in Segunda División B thus far, last time i checked was not an international for Thailand. Suprise suprise, who created the article? A Thai guy!

Cheers back --AL (talk) 23:56, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

  • Could you also bring forth the discussion at WP:FOOTY please (undoubtedly you'll get more feedback than me - you can say it's at my request if it suits you better)? I sure would like to hear what PJ has to say, but i'm not asking him to participate he can find that out for himself (or have someone "tip him off"), a bit tired of that "talk to the hand" approach many here have towards me.

Thanks a million in advance --AL (talk) 02:29, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2013–14 York City F.C. season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chris Smith (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Jordon Mutch

Hello. Just wondering what this was all about? Assuming it's any of my business, obviously... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:13, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

Why, as a matter of interest? in the case of Mutch, it doesn't make any difference one way or the other, as the deleted histories were clean of abuse and copyvio (unlike quite a few deleted and recreated articles – the creations of 10alatham and his bottomless sock-drawer come to mind), but each newer version was created independently of the previous, so the old ones aren't in any way part of the history of the current page. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:13, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

I do have a source for the change to the page Gareth Barry but i can not cite it as it is not official as yet. Well it is official but not public.

Jozy Altidore

My friend I'm not in ANY DISPUTE with nobody. And if you want that I stop editing, please tell me. I'm trying to UPDATE this player page. Every soccer related site in the world are reporting that Altidore moved to Sunderland, but you don't let anybody edit this page. Every time I try to put this information in Altidore page you revert my edit. You asked a references and I gave you two and I can give you thousand of them. I'm a serious editor trying to increase and improve this wikipedia in such purpose I strongly believe. I'm sure you're, just like me, is a serious editor. So why are you reverting my edits?--SirEdimon (talk) 17:07, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

Assistance

Hi there MATTY, AL "here",

even though i think it was User:GiantSnowman that ultimately resolved this, i addressed this also in your page. What is "this"? User:Kengi1982 created Ernesto Amantegui, it was deleted, what did he do? RE-CREATE it (and he removed the AFD templates during the discussion about the original article as well!) under the name Ernesto Poompa.

Why do i come to you? Because Snowman told me he had deleted it, turns out he did not, it's not even for deletion yet (that or it is, but the article still does not have the banner). Our man is on a wikibreak now, and i would like for us to lighten his workload. Could you please accommodate?

Happy weekend, regards --AL (talk) 20:02, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

  • Another reason for my confusion: i did not see that it was the SECOND Ernesto Poompa plus one Ernesto Amantegui, that Kengi fellow sure "contributes" quickly!

Hi Matty

Ernesto Amantegui Phumipha (English spell) but Ernesto Amantegui to a thai mother full name Ernesto Amantegui Poompa (Thailand spell) [2][3] or Ernesto Poompa thank you!!! (talk) 09:29, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

Kevin De Bruyne

Hello Matty, could you please protect Kevin De Bruyne. I've had to revert so many IPs adding an unconfirmed squad number that they probably saw in a training photo. Nothing official from Chelsea FC yet, so shouldn't be added. Thanks. JMHamo (talk) 10:17, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

Vandals or similar...

1 - Our man Giant Snowman is really into the wild now, no e-mail no internet... So, i hope you can come to the rescue again, please read this message (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:GiantSnowman#User:Joshuaforest).

2 - i know that Kengi1982 has been blocked and his article(s) deleted, but i found a thing that leaves me a bit uncomfortable...he has copied MY userpage to his, word by word, symbol by symbol, with the exception of the flag of course. I'd be hardpressed to present evidence, but it's sooooooooooo clear (i very much doubt he 1 - has a level 4 of English; 2 - has reviewer and rollback rights)!

Thanks in advance, cheers --AL (talk) 20:57, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

Vandals or similar... - Update, titled "Two hysteric types"

Hi there MATTY, how's it going?

Please read the message with the same title if you feel confused and/or outdated ;) Now, it goes like this: i should not have written that complaint about JOSHUAFOREST if i was not 100% correct (you have to be in these cases), was not very sporting on my part, and it was not vandalism.

This triggered this reply from Mr.Forest to my talkpage (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Always_Learning#editing). We are all HORRIBLE PEOPLE?! Hence the title of this update, as hysterical as me. I may have deserved it for the false accusations of which i am deeply ashamed, but the other guys who went to his page all smiles and were told to "Shut up and go away" did not. I have already sincerely apologized to him for my approach, but doubt he will read it because that anon IP made just that edit to my page, nothing else, so who knows where he edited from (a friend's house, a cafe, library?).

On a unrelated matter, do you think Hulk's page needs a big cleanup? If it does i'll lend a hand, if it does not or if it is seven miles long i won't, spend enough time as it is here already man (not complaining man, noone forces me, just saying...).

Cheers, happy weekend --AL (talk) 15:06, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

Nacer Chadli

Hi. Sorry for my carelessness, just forgot to add a proper source for this fact. There are enough notes in the newspapers around the world already. I'll add this one - http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/transfer-news-tottenham-agree-deal-for-fc-twentes-nacer-chadli-as-winger-flies-to-london-to-seal-move-8700364.html
Ps. Well, ok, let's wait a little. By the way, when I changed his current club, Tottenham has already been entered in senior career section. But I think that you're constantly monitoring this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DarthKrait (talkcontribs) 13:03, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

The notability of these is accepted as they would have received significant coverage as outlined above in the general notability criteria"

He played in FIFA U-17 World Cup. I referenced that. No need for deletion. --AbdulRahman14 (talk) 13:08, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

I thought including the olympics includes U-17 and U-20 levels too. Anyway, he achieves no 2. He is a member in Al-Ahly first team, who plays in a fully professional league.--AbdulRahman14 (talk) 13:28, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

He didn't play yet because the league didn't start yet, but he along with Mossad Awad are training with the first team. Appeared is controversial. It didn't say "played". They are registered with the first team. Anyway, please wait for the league to start and they both will play :) Don't delete. Cheers. --AbdulRahman14 (talk) 13:42, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

...but this guy (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:CostantinosGR) could be another sock of idiot User:Antony1821 (yes idiot, he promised that if he was blocked for his disruptive edits, he would sock until the end of time!), die-hard Olympiacos fan, and his list of "contributions" goes in that direction.

By the way, Javier Saviola is also protected to my surprise. Can't these punks leave us work in peace? Kind regards --AL (talk) 23:56, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

More! I sincerely don't know what i still do on WP after nearly seven years when i know perfectly well this will never end, we will never work in complete peace (WP has a lovely theory - welcome all contributors, peace and love and keyboards - but it's utter nonsense in the end) Watch out for this anon user who is apparently a die-hard F.C. Porto fan per his list of contributions, and still vandalizes his own players (as seen here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Tiago_Rodrigues&diff=next&oldid=565504193, BOTH Portuguese links show him playing for Amarante on loan, the guys says "NOT!" and he removes the club). Portsmouth F.C. squad

Hi, I changed the layout of the Portsmouth squad to a more consistent format used for most other football clubs. The format previously used is not the frequently used by other clubs and the format I changed to is a Wikipedia template that does not cause problems for readers. Therefore, I will decide to undo your revision and change it to what I changed originally. Thanks, 81.155.156.172 (talk) 13:38, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

User:Antony1821 - Updates

OK maybe the other one was not his sock, but this one, TORRETO77, is, i am 300% sure. Watch his signature move here, how he decides ONCE AGAIN (!!) that a B-club is not senior but youth (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Armiche_Ortega&diff=next&oldid=565644142).

Please block him already, i was going to message him and talk with him the way he deserves, but then i thought better and refrained myself, i know how WP works. What a lowlife punk!

Attentively, thanks in advance --AL (talk) 21:11, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

And what is a ban, but a block with another name? If you get blocked a week or a month, either you reform yourself as an editor or return to your ways and get blocked indef, then get another account and so on and so on. This guy Antony has been BANNED by the community, has that stopped him? N-O! Hence, i'd REALLY like to know please, what's the difference between a block and a ban, because i fail to see any.

Cheers --AL (talk) 22:47, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip. Answering your question about guideline concerns, particularly the fact that we are not supposed to link countries and regions (why have articles on them then?) and, the "icing on the cake i just can't smell", i have heard that, in football articles (heard and SEEN it de-linked) we are not supposed to link stuff like "substitute", "coach", etc. Come again?

The "vandals getting to me" bit? Sad, but they are, immensely! Happy weekend --AL (talk) 00:40, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

  • And i need your mediation here: in Fredy Guarín (and several other Inter Milan players), i have been reverted several times by user ITALIA2006, who insists on writing INTERNAZIONALE as club name even though the WP article's name was changed per community consensus. We exchanged a few words (where he told me there was a consensus regarding the use of INTERNAZIONALE - i later found there is not! Maybe in the mindset of Italian fans editing here, but not overall), but all communication ceased after my last message to him (i wanted reply, got zilch).

What's your views on this? If you stand (as do i) on the side of the users of INTER MILAN, please send him a message. Cheers! --AL (talk) 13:49, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

Park Ji-Sung - definitely reliable

Hello Mattythewhite,

I can tell you that the source I gave on Park Ji-Sung about his move to PSV Eindhoven definitely is reliable. It is from the site of the Dutch national news' broadcaster, the NOS (I understand you didn't know that). However, Ji-Sung still has to undergo a medical examination. I also haven't found a source on psv.nl or bbc.co.uk or something. In a moment I will watch PSV vs Zulte Waregem. If something is said about Ji-Sung, I will absolutely put a better investigation in the case. For now, I'll leave the page the way it is.

I'd like to add to this post that two other main football news websites, vi.nl and goal.com, also report something about Park's move to PSV. It's a fact that he's at least been to Eindhoven this week.

Reply - Others

Hi there MATTY,

about your question, just a display thingy, i tend to put categories together, templates together (due to form), etc etc. Is this completely out of line or forbidden by WP guidelines? If it is, sorry for any incovenience, i'll stop doing it :)

On an unrelated note (i'll also send this message to User:Struway2 and User:GiantSnowman), time to leave WP, if not forever for a great deal of time: User:Raulseixas has returned (please see this report in another of his socks http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Uruguayriver), now as User:Gringoladomenega, and he shows no sign of wanting to work as a team, not even with me who stood by him when everybody else seemingly did not. Why? He sent me a message (please don't accuse me of engaging in conversation with a sock, HE messaged me not the opposite) accusing me of removing the word CATALONIA in players' storylines, when i was just relocating. Seemingly he has proceeded to revert me everywhere as he does to others (by doing so, for instance in Jordi Amat, Catalonia "became" wikilinked twice in storyline, great).

I was on the move to reply him but, midway through it i realized it was this sock, have had it up to here with the site overall (and my overall attitudes handling it), and this Brazilian guy is a shining example of things, does not care about any guideline, reverts everyone even the ones that unduly supported him (me, i meant "unduly" because it's against WP guidelines to enable socking, i know i was wrong there), worst of all is that he's not even a vandal. Block him or don't block him, i don't care, but please do proceed to salt my userpage (and my talkpage if you can, would highly appreciate it).

If you are unsure whether are not these things are true (obviously you do not follow football), please search on websites and other trustworthy sources. Next time you undo my edits please show me proof that I am wrong. (I was right, just read the news).

By the time you sent me the message, the page was already changed back.

Natfootball (talk) 06:32, 3 August 2013 (UTC) (It seems you do this a lot Matt, please learn!)

Removing references

Why did you remove references from Estonian footbalers? Please don't do that. Pelmeen10 (talk) 23:43, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Mart Poom was the other. But like you see NFT.com has mistaken about the number of games, jalgpall.ee hasn't. Pelmeen10 (talk) 00:03, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

Quotes on Messi

While fixing/reverting recent POV, you restored a bunch of POV quotes on Lionel Messi I had removed earlier in the day. Do you think the article needs so many personal "quotes" from other people? All of them personal POV of the purported commenters. I see them as personal POV, fluff, and unencyclopedic. -- Alexf(talk) 17:26, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

LOL indeed

Hi there Matty, i'm back,

i say that in the title because everytime i walked away from WP i seriously had the intention of leaving (too much - self-induced? - stress), but, being i the loner with no hobbies that i am (maybe an amateur poet and that's it!), i knew i could not. I broke my own WP:Primadonna record, but it was still less than one week :)

I trained for a few days as anon, and now i think i am ready to: 1 - stop feeding the trolls; 2 - write 100% encyclopedical summaries. I will try to lighten my burden (thus the stress) from now on by editing exclusively on SPANISH/PORTUGUESE (or based in those countries) footballers.

Whistle if you need anything, cheers --AL (talk) 18:23, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi there MATTY, AL "here",

please, in your opinion, who has the right approach in the honours of this player? Me or the other guy? I think, as User:Daemonic Kangaroo aptly put it once, that (1) in honours is both unnecessary and insulting. Also, this other user's approach results in overlinking (ZARRA TROPHY and SEGUNDA DIVISION looking as if they were the same link, they are not).

If you choose his option, then i'll abide by. I will also stop the reversions because i (we) am getting close to the forbidden 3RR. Cheers --AL (talk) 23:37, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Hull (City) Tigers F.C.

The name change is official, it was announced on Sky Sports yesterday and has since appeared on many articles both online and offline. par exemple http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/228691.html Atban.3000 write me 00:07, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

"Naming Convention" excuse

There is no rule relating to naming convention that suggests that the official name of the team cannot be used, nor that when a name change takes place, the old name has to be used. There is no rule that in anyway goes against the move. There is no rule that supports your reverting of my edits to the article. All guidelines point to using the current name of the club, which is Hull Tigers F.C., NOT Hull City A.F.C., thank you for understanding. Atban.3000 write me 00:20, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

Sigh indeed

Remember this Danish user (or user editing from Denmark, he looks a die-hard Porto fan) we warned last month or so? Well he's at it again, removing loan signs in box just because (please see here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rolando_(Portuguese_footballer)&diff=568053717&oldid=568050972).

I leave it to your attention, cheerio and happy week --AL (talk) 18:35, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

Vincent Kompany

I understand my edit to Kompany's article wasn't perhaps "correct" but I was only trying to enlarge the picture to show his face more clearly. Don't you think it could do with it? The Madras (talk) 18:45, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

In my opinion, it is quite a good picture, but maybe you could manipulate the picture: remove left and right margins? I can imagine that people with a small computer screen will have his picture below the table now. Kind regards Kareldorado (talk) 19:29, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
Sadly, if the picture of him with Belgium in 2011 was a bit more clear that would be perfect. Also I have no idea on how to manipulate the picture. The Madras (talk) 11:59, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

Adel Taarabt ⴰⴷⵉⵍ ⵜⴰⵄⵔⴰⴱⵜ

ⴰⴷⵉⵍ ⵜⴰⵄⵔⴰⴱⵜ is the name of Adel Taarabt in Berber language ( known as Tamazight). the reasons you should accept my post: - Adel Taarabt is Berber / Amazigh himself. - Berber / Amazigh is the official language of Morocco. - Wiki would contradict itself in the other cases: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morocco — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.96.9.220 (talk) 23:31, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

Stewart Downing

Hello Matty, could you please protect Stewart Downing until his transfer status is confirmed by Liverpool. Thanks, JMHamo (talk) 16:27, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

Congrats!

Hey there, sorry I'm a bit slow off the mark, I gave up on RfA a while ago, but had I known you were standing you'd have had my support. More admins who understand the vagaries of the transfer window can only be a good thing! GedUK  20:52, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Aly Cissokho

Hello Matty, could you please protect Aly Cissokho.. his loan move to Liverpool has not been officially agreed yet. Thanks. JMHamo (talk) 11:37, 16 August 2013 (UTC)

Del Piero

You say that i must open a discussion to modify the article, but i think that you must open a discussion in the talk page of the article (and not between you and me, wikipedia isn't our) before modify it, removing all the tables about tha career totals, tables tha you can find in all the articles of the most important players (see Pelè, Ronaldo, etc.).--151.63.35.157 (talk) 08:40, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

Alessandro Del Piero

Hello Matty, what should be done about Alessandro Del Piero? I don't want to get into an edit war with Marcosax3, but I know this has been already discussed on WT:FOOTY and a consences reached, so it should not be the way it is at the moment.. your advice is appreciated :) Thanks, JMHamo (talk) 20:25, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

Also, could you please let me know where in the WT:FOOTY archive the discussion about this is? I am having trouble finding it again. Thanks. JMHamo (talk) 20:36, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

August 2013

Are you being serious? It was sourced from a renowned website, NUFC.COM and certainly there was no intent to be disruptive. May be you can hand out a few warnings to some of the genuine disruptive and vandalising users here. --The Mercenary 73 (talk) 20:42, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

May be you should've read down the page at nufc.com before issuing warnings.... If you read who wrote that particular chapter in Joe Kinnear's page you'd have found out i wrote it, i find it funny no one objected to that! Anyway EVERY N.U.F.C. website except the club's official site now refer to Joe Kinnear as 'the Director of Fuckall or F***all, its not a pretty fact but its now a FACT. Now its pretty unusual for me to use only one reference so may be i should've added more. --The Mercenary 73 (talk) 22:45, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

Request to undelete

Hi there, I want to congratulate yoy with the adminship, if I haven't done that yet. I have an admin-task, that I wondered if you could help me with: I just noticed that the recently created article Andrés Már Jóhannesson was previously deleted by PROD. The new article is not a very good one, so I was wondering if you could undelete the old version, so that I can check if it is anything useful in there. Cheers, Mentoz86 (talk) 17:57, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for your help. Even though it wasn't much useful there, I realized that he played in the under-21 championship with Iceland :P Mentoz86 (talk) 20:42, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

Refs for names

Hi there MATTY, AL "speaking",

just out of curiosity, why do you add refs for players' full names in infoboxes? I have not removed anything or similar (nor would i have the right to do so), just plain curiosity i repeat.

Is it to prevent vandalism? Newsflash to you mate, it won't...Happy week, cheers --AL (talk) 16:58, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Müller

Can't you add a {{cn}} tag? None of the edit was controversial, and I worry that new editors are discouraged by having their work summarily deleted. ArtVandelay13 (talk) 20:51, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Datchet Village FC

Mattythewhite, please tell me why you have removed my local team's football page? I would like to disupute the fact that you have simply removed this with no justification other than your status on wikipedia. Please kindly explain why and details how the page can be reinstated at it rightly should be. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Behindthedugout (talkcontribs) 20:27, 20 August 2013 (UTC)
