Invitation to join Women in Red
[edit] Thank you for creating several articles on women and their works over the past few weeks. Speedy deletion nomination of Xana Antunes
[edit]Hello Leonstojka,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Xana Antunes for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Louisa Reeve, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Helen Glover (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). [edit]Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.
Edit summary content is visible in:
Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Aloneinthewild (talk) 01:14, 14 September 2018 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Richard Burge
[edit]Hello, Leonstojka,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Richard Burge should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Richard Burge .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

[edit]Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Alexandra Hall Hall, as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 01:07, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. File permission problem with File:Kingsley Dunham.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Kingsley Dunham.jpg, which you've attributed to https://artuk.org/discover/artworks/sir-kingsley-dunham-19102001-47759# = © All rights reserved. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones (Talk) 02:03, 29 March 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:George auckland.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:George auckland.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a file licensed as "for non-commercial use only", "no derivative use", "for Wikipedia use only", or "used with permission"; and it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:
- state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
- add the relevant copyright tag and if necessary, a complete fair use rationale.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Replaceable fair use File:Alexander Frater.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Alexander Frater.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 17:15, 30 May 2019 (UTC)

Image licensing
[edit]Hi,
You've uploaded many images with a stated license of "Public Domain because..." and then giving some other license such as a Creative Commons license, or Open Government License. These are not public domain. Some of the license information has been corrected, and the images retained because the licence is acceptable for use on Wikipedia. Others have been or will be deleted because the licensing is not compatible with Wikipedia such as non-commercial restrictions. Please take care to use the correct license. If you are unsure or do not know, you can ask for help at Media Copyright Questions. Please do not upload more files until you understand the licensing. Thank you. -- Whpq (talk) 17:47, 30 May 2019 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Hatfield Coll Chapel.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Hatfield Coll Chapel.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. Hi Leonstojka. I've noticed you've added cricketers to this category who haven't played first-class cricket for Durham MCCU. This category (formerly erroneously called Category:Durham University cricketers) is only for cricketers who have played first-class cricket for Durham UCCE/MCCU since 2001. As Durham University Cricket Club isn't afforded first-class status, we tend not to categorise players by cricket teams who have not played at the highest domestic level. And as of next year Durham MCCU will lose first-class status, all because of a swear word in English cricket called The Hundred!!! Cheers! StickyWicket (talk) 21:08, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Unspecified source/license for File:Painter Hughie O'Donoghue.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Painter Hughie O'Donoghue.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}}

The file File:John Rawling Todd, Chagos.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Probable copyright violation, available online prior to upload here and in a book published in 2011 https://www.latimes.com/world/africa/la-fg-britain-us-diego-garcia-20180814-story.html https://www.huffpost.com/entry/a-double-standard-on-democracy-us-and-uk-must_b_5776b07de4b0746f5647e4ee https://books.google.com/books?id=3ankJb0skpwC&pg=PA109
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Verbcatcher (talk) 06:52, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

A discussion which may be relevant to you is currently taking place on WT:HED (section) on the wider picture of WP:BOOSTERISM across university articles. Please see the relevant section if you wish to contribute, as any consensus made there may end up impacting articles on topics you have contributed to (Univ. Dunelm.), and it would be sensible to get involved earlier rather than going through any discussion it again if it affects those pages. Your views and input would be most welcome! [edit]Removal of category from Benjamin Quartey-Papafio
[edit]Hi, I notice you recently removed the category Category:Alumni of Durham University from Benjamin Quartey-Papafio. You seem to be doing a bunch of category clean-up, and I wondered why you've removed this category from this page. Dsp13 (talk) 18:07, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
Hi, I removed it because I felt the subcategory 'Fourah Bay College Alumni' was sufficient (FB being an overseas campus of Durham Uni at the time he was alive) and I could not find any suggestion that Quartey-Papafio had actually studied in Durham itself. The resources I am using for these cleanups are the Durham University Gazettes and Calendars (which can be searched through at this link). In fact I am not totally certain he even matriculated/graduated from Fourah Bay, I can see a 'Benjamin Percy Quartey-Papafio' in the 1914/15 calendar who is listed as having begun there in Easter of 1911, which is obviously too late for our subject, and an 'Arthur Boye Quartey Papafio' in the 1892 calendar. --Leonstojka (talk) 18:52, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
Wow, I had no idea that Fourah Bay was an overseas campus of Durham. Fascinating, and thanks for the explanation. My source for his education was the Pen Pictures, which I borrowed from a library and unfortunately don't have to hand. Dsp13 (talk) 20:23, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

Durham University Alumni Ed Lopez
[edit]I noticed you recently removed the category Category:Alumni of Durham University from Ed Lopez (a second time). As Cambridge alumni, I know that the collegiate system in the UK can be confusing: the subject here is an alumni of both Durham University and Ustinov College. As long as there's an "Alumni of Durham University" category, members of each college at the University should be listed as alumni of both their college and the broader University. An argument could be made that only colleges should be listed - but that should summon a case against the broader Durham University alumni list on Wikipedia, not exclusion of the category on articles about alumni from the University - as long as the category exists. I don't think that would be a good idea though: "The central goal of the category system is to provide navigational links to Wikipedia pages in a hierarchy of categories which readers, knowing essential—defining—characteristics of a topic, can browse and quickly find sets of pages on topics that are defined by those characteristics." It doesn't seem necessary to narrow navigational links to any page when the resources for this are available. Students at these universities graduate from the university. In this case, the subject serves on the US alumni board for Durham University. Grant18650602 (talk) 04:58, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with File:Cartoon of boats on the river wear, durham.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Cartoon of boats on the river wear, durham.jpg.
This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.
Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. — Ирука13 03:02, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Denny Draper. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. JTtheOG (talk) 21:47, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Carlos Deus
[edit]Hello Leonstojka, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Carlos Deus, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Carlos Deus.
Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Cabrils}}
. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!
