Talk:Khazars/Archive 10
Hello @K6ka. Earlier, I went under a different nickname and erased the topic I created, there are 99% only my words. You brought her back. Can I delete my words? Do you mind this? LandsGates (talk) 20:16, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- @LandsGates: While it is OK to remove discussions from your own talk page (with some exception), and while it is OK to remove your own comments if nobody has responded to you, it is generally not OK to remove discussions if someone else has responded. The thread you removed contained comments made by others, so we generally do not remove it. Additionally, it is also discouraged to edit an archive page, which is what you were doing. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 23:12, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- You additionally may want to review our policy on using multiple accounts. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 23:19, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the answer, if it says "not recommended", then it is not prohibited. So I can delete my comments from a topic that I created and which is archived? LandsGates (talk) 09:30, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
- @LandsGates: It's strongly discouraged to edit an archive page, because the point of an archive is that it's not meant to be edited. However, if there is a particular reason why you would like to remove your comments, you can replace them with {{redacted}}; you still should not remove other people's comments, or the entire thread—this would be true regardless of whether the discussion has been archived or not. You should explain in your edit summary why you are removing your comments. Note that your comments will still be visible in the page history indefinitely for anyone to see. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 03:26, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarifying. I made changes, I hope I did everything right with the inserts. LandsGates (talk) 11:29, 2 March 2023 (UTC)

Recent changes
- The Community Wishlist Survey 2023 edition has been concluded. Community Tech has published the results of the survey and will provide an update on what is next in April 2023.
- On wikis which use LanguageConverter to handle multiple writing systems, articles which used custom conversion rules in the wikitext (primarily on Chinese Wikipedia) would have these rules applied inconsistently in the table of contents, especially in the Vector 2022 skin. This has now been fixed. [1]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 7 March. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 8 March. It will be on all wikis from 9 March (calendar).
- A search system has been added to the Preferences screen. This will let you find different options more easily. Making it work on mobile devices will happen soon. [2]

Query
Hello, K6ka,
I was looking at an editor's contributions and saw they had made a recent request to change their username. But the request hadn't been granted and when I went to see why on the archives, you mention that they were on a "global rename blacklist". What is this list and how does one get blacklisted? Is it from requesting too many username changes? There doesn't seem to be anything serious that I was looking into, I was just curious as I had never heard before that there was such a blacklist and wondered if it was because of the user who was requesting the username change or is it because of the username they were requesting to change to. Thanks for any clarification you can provide. Liz Read! Talk! 20:38, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Liz: The global rename blacklist is located on Meta Wiki, and prohibits any matches from requesting in the global rename queue and prevents them from being manually renamed. Users are usually added to the blacklist if they've been disruptive with their requests, which includes making too many rename requests and having been renamed too many times. For example, if someone has changed their username four times over the past year and doesn't seem intent on sticking with one name and editing seriously with it, they may be added to the blacklist after a discussion. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 23:26, 19 March 2023 (UTC)

UAA
Going forward I'm going to stop making comments at WP:UAA except when really necessary. I already feel ashamed for what I did. I wasn't even intending to pretend to be an admin. I know that only admins have the right to act like, well, admins, but after reading "This is not a call for you to make" and "please don't leave comments in here [UAA] acting like you're one", How about I stop editing UAA once and for all? I just can't resist the urge to use UAA, AIV and other administrative pages to express my love for cuteness and music, but I'll try from this point on... AKK700 21:20, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- ... —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 12:29, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
- I misread the statement that said "don't leave comments that show you're acting like an admin, because you're not". At first thought, I thought it meant to cease leaving comments on UAA altogether. But after re-reading your summary, I will cease making adminish comments and comments that show my love and adoration towards certain usernames (obviously not the inappropriate usernames, I'm talking about ones containing "pink so and so", etc) and other things. I will only use the UAA templates. I have an obsession with beauty, cuteness and music, and I for the most part try to resist the urge to disrupt the Wikipedia namespace with my personal opinions (WP:NPOV). Now I understand that UAA, AIV and other project space discussion pages are also inappropriate places for my personal statements. AKK700 05:29, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- @AKK-700: No, I meant that you should not be commenting on UAA or AIV reports. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 12:42, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
