Promotion of List of prime ministers of Australia
[edit]Hello take a look
[edit]Hello. I hope this message meets you well. Do review this article Ojy Okpe. Cheers. Amaekuma (talk) 15:06, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Amaekuma:
Done! I would remove the sources from Bella Naija and IMDB, as they are considered unreliable.Actually, on a closer source inspection, I am not sure of the article's reliability: only sources 8 and 17 qualify in my books. I have draftified the article and I encourage you to find more sources. JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 22:39, 22 December 2022 (UTC)

user:jml1148. As advised on Ojy Okpe, IMDb links removed. Most Bella Naija links removed or replaced with better links from better sources. Removed trivial issues. Followed your advise in general. Do well to review. Cheers. Amaekuma (talk) 18:24, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Amaekuma: I am happy with the article now! JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 21:51, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
Yes
Thanks. The whole point is to become better. Another question, when an article has been reviewed positively? It is released into search engine's indexing right? Because i don't see this one. Thanks in advance. Amaekuma (talk) 22:25, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, it should be indexed but it may take some time before it is. JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 22:02, 28 December 2022 (UTC)

The article Katherine Deves has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Proposing that is page be deleted as being an unelected, unsuccessful, political candidate ≠ notability. - WP:POLITICIAN
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. - GA Melbourne (talk) 01:03, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
The column in the Australian prime minister articles
[edit]Hello JML1148 i see hew have a disagreement in regards with the column on the article title List of the Australian prime ministers the reason i changes it is i think it looks better and because more easily to read and is more similar to other articles . Would you like to discuss this ? I would like to avoid an edit war what are your objections ? Friendlyhistorian (talk) 04:40, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Friendlyhistorian: Hello, and thank you for being proactive and reaching out. Many of the changes you have made, although aesthetically pleasing, also conflict with accessibility-related changes (i.e. the text on the lime was black for low-sight readers and a column was greyed to be the primary column, useful for text-to-speech readers) or citations being used in the wrong way (the website field in citations is for the name of the website, not the URL). JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 07:54, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
- Would it be possible to make the table a bit more wide it looks crammed the way it is ? Like in general is there a way to make is as similar as possible with the old table while also keeping the stuff that you want in would that be possible ? Friendlyhistorian (talk) 14:44, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
- Also would it be possible to make the second column white ? Friendlyhistorian (talk) 14:46, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
- That is what I was referring to in the above comment; the grey column indicates it to be the primary column to text-to-speech readers which lets it determine when to read out things. This is useful to blind readers, so this cannot be done. JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 06:15, 25 December 2022 (UTC)
Nomination of Katherine Deves for deletion

DePROD of Rupert Arnold
[edit]I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}}

back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! Gusfriend (talk) 09:16, 25 December 2022 (UTC)

Publishing the article on Brad Jacobs (entrepreneur)
[edit]Hello, you recently reviewed my submitted draft of the article entitled Brad Jacobs (entrepreneur). The page was recently deleted on the grounds of not having good enough references. I asked for it to be undeleted and I updated the references and re-submitted it for publication. The reference list now includes individual features by Forbes, Bloomberg, the Wall Street Journal and TIME magazine, all from this year, so I believe the problem that led to the article's deletion has been satisfactorily resolved.
Today, though, you blocked the article from publication because of its tone and non-neutral point of view, including the use of peacock terms. I understand that there can be very little due process in this wild, wild west of volunteer admins and editors, but I do feel some frustration at the moving goalpost (i.e., first the problem was the references and now it's the tone).
I have attempted to scrub the article for language that may be viewed as promotional. I did not find any peacock terms (based on the list you linked to in the rejection reasoning), except "best" which appears twice in the titles of awards the subject received. I moved those awards into a new "Recognition" section, which I modeled after the one in the Wiki article on Bill Gates.
Will you please look at the draft again and let me know if I'm on the right track/if it's ready for publication? Many thanks. Gannymetis (talk) 17:29, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Gannymetis I am now confident that the tone is encyclopedic, thank you for doing that. Also, the decline reasons we use are pre-generated, so they may not exactly align with what is wrong with the draft.
- However, I am still not confident with the referencing, as the 'Forbes, Bloomberg, the Wall Street Journal and TIME magazine' are, from what I can access, largely interviews, which do not qualify for notability. I am unsure why I did not add notability in my grounds for declining. JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 21:45, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
- Awesome! Thank you for re-reviewing. I disagree that an interview in TIME magazine isn't notable (like, why would TIME want to talk to him if he weren't notable?). Can you point me to a Wikipedia guideline where it states that interviews aren't valid? Also, could you please approve the article's publication now that the tone is encyclopedic? Thank you! Gannymetis (talk) 22:44, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hello, interviews generally come under WP:PRIMARY, which usually do not go to notability under WP:SIGCOV. I cannot approve it until I can see that there are two sources that pass WP:SIGCOV that is, secondary sources that are reliable and independent of the subject. JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 22:57, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
- @JML1148 Thank you so much for engaging with me on this. Here are two sources currently in the article that I believe meet your expectations (i.e., non-interviews in reliable, independent publications): 1) This article in Bloomberg from 2022 (https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2022-10-17/xpo-logistics-ceo-brad-jacobs-is-on-the-hunt-investors-should-pay-attention); and 2) this article in Forbes from 2018, which shows relevance over time (https://www.forbes.com/sites/antoinegara/2018/04/10/xpo-logistics-bradley-jacobs-billionaire/?sh=5c69dd88ca6c). Let me know if these pass muster! Thanks again. Gannymetis (talk) 23:17, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
- I am happy with this, but you may have to purge some of the sources that are not independent or don't meet WP:SIGCOV. I am going to leave the article for a more experienced reviewer to assess (I have only been a reviewer for a week) because I am unsure whether to pass or decline it. JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 23:24, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
- @JML1148 I'm biased, because I've been frustrated that it got taken down in the first place and I'm having a hell of a time getting it back up, but I say go for it. We can continue to improve the article once it's live. Please? :) In any event, thank you very much for your engagement here. Gannymetis (talk) 23:33, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @JML1148. I've resubmitted the draft for approval. Would you mind reviewing it? You've acknowledged that its tone is encyclopedic and its references meet your requirements. Thanks. Gannymetis (talk) 13:45, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Gannymetis: I have made it clear that some unreliable or primary sources need to be pruned, and I am leaving it to a more experienced reviewer. JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 22:03, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
- No comment on merit as I haven't reviewed the article, but just a quick heads up @Gannymetis that you'll need to click "Resubmit" for this to go back in the AfC reviewers' queue for the action @JML1148 recommended (leave it to a more experienced reviewer) to happen. Have a good evening. Star Mississippi 23:32, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks, @Star Mississippi! That's very helpful. Gannymetis (talk) 23:34, 27 December 2022 (UTC)

- @Paul in toronto: It should not have been published, you must have accidentally created it in mainspace (where articles are) rather than draftspace (where drafts are). JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 05:09, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
- I did one for sandugo shoes too that was susposed to be a draft. Just how short can an article be?
- also.. I tried to add, home box office gross ( ie dvd sales) to infobox, it only appears to allow for one gross Paul in toronto (talk) 05:10, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
- An article can be as short as you want, provided it meets notability guidelines. You probably need to go through this for drafts. JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 05:12, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
- Can we add, more then one gross to infobox, for home video sales ? Is there a way to do this? Paul in toronto (talk) 05:14, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Paul in toronto: Through the article wizard, that I linked above, you can create as many drafts as you want. Just make sure you have enough time to edit all of them so that you don't abandon them. JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 05:16, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

Your decline
[edit]I disagree with you on your claim about the resources as the ones I used come from many different new agencies including Radio Station, TV, Newspaper and web news... it also includes references from different countries as well. So I don't see your point about the references as a valid one.
Furthermore, you accuse the article of being "blatant advertising", which I also disagree with you. Unless if you can support your claim by showing me which exact sentences and words makes you think that way?
As far as I know, the editors "job" are to make article more "neutral" and "objective"; which makes me wonder why won't you work on improving it than just declining the whole article? 37.60.148.151 (talk) 12:27, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Assuming that you are talking about Draft:Janan's Kitchen, the sources are either largely unreliable (Syria TV) or a fail of WP:SIGCOV, which requires reliable secondary sources of a decent length (i.e. not just a passing mention). The article as a whole still needs some work, as it is very promotional. Note that it is not the reviewer's job to fix articles, as when they are submitted it is assumed that it is in a good state. I will usually do some minor fixes (i.e. converting links to citations, obvious spelling and grammar mistakes) but others won't. JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 09:13, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- The 'Syria TV' is not just a passing mention. Maybe because it's in Arabic you couldn't understand the whole report.
- At any rate, do you know/recommend someone who can help in improving it?
- You are also more than welcome to contribute to fixing and improving it. Thanks. 12:58, 3 January 2023 (UTC) 37.60.148.151 (talk) 12:58, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- I was saying that Syria TV is considered unreliable, not that it failed SIGCOV. JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 23:04, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
Invitation
[edit]Hello JML1148:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a two week long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to eliminate the backlog of unreviewed articles. The drive is running until 14 January 2023.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
Incorrectly declined draft.
[edit]You incorrectly declined Draft:DarkViperAU. You claim that page does not include secondary resources, even though it does. It includes many and a significant amount of resources that are reliable. There are pages that have qualified to be moved to the article space with less resources and resources that are not reliable or valid. Next time you review a draft, please review it carefully before you accept or decline. I will be putting the draft through a review again, please do not interfere with it.
Regards, ManyVersions ManyVersions (talk) 12:54, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- @ManyVersions: Well, it has been declined again by 2 different editors, both with over 100,000 edits. I note you have been removing declines from the page, which is unacceptable behaviour, furthermore acting like you know everything (your comments on Draft talk:DarkViperAU and in edit summaries on Draft:DarkViperAU). JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 22:09, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
That is because I didn’t change anything from your incorrect decline. And of course that does not mean that they made the correct decision, like I’ve stated many times that the inconsistencies of declining and accepting Wikipedia drafts is abnormal. You only believe that my behaviour has been “unacceptable” because I disapproved your decision and the way the decline was handled. Nothing I have said has been out of line, I think you need to learn how to deal with criticism. Please do not read or tamper with anything I have written or created in the future, I rather someone with the right amount of experience do that for me. Regards, ManyVersions ManyVersions (talk) 22:33, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- As has already been pointed out to you, remember to indent your comments; the reply button will do this for you. This is yet another comment where you have been speaking down to editors who have far more experience than you do. It has been explained to you what is needed of a draft article, yet you continue to WP:ICHY other editors and not answer other editors' questions. Pinging editors @Bonadea: and @Theroadislong: who have been involved in this to the conversation. JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 23:00, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
You’re failure to handle criticism is alarming. You have the decency to claim that I “act like I know everything” and my behaviour is “unacceptable” yet you’re doing exactly what you’re accusing me. You dismiss my points again and again whilst claiming I don’t have experience, even though this isn’t my only account. I have also done research and have found that all the three names listed, yours included, have a history of incorrectly and carelessly declining drafts. You have a lot of learning to do. A LOT of learning. Especially with handling criticism. Please let this be the last of the discussion and do not bother replying if you aren’t going to be reasonable. Regards, ManyVersions ManyVersions (talk) 23:11, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- Saying that this isn't your only account is alarming, as that would be sockpuppetry. Your behaviour has led me no choice but to start a discussion at WP:AN/I. JML1148 (Talk | Contribs) 23:41, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
Yes, another account which is successful in publishing and editing. The only thing that is alarming is your incredibly huge ego. ManyVersions (talk) 23:49, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
New Pages Patrol newsletter January 2023
[edit]Hello JML1148,
- Backlog
The October drive reduced the backlog from 9,700 to an amazing 0! Congratulations to WaddlesJP13 who led with 2084 points. See this page for further details. The queue is steadily rising again and is approaching 2,000. It would be great if <2,000 were the “new normal”. Please continue to help out even if it's only for a few or even one patrol a day.
- 2022 Awards
Onel5969 won the 2022 cup for 28,302 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 80/day. There was one Gold Award (5000+ reviews), 11 Silver (2000+), 28 Iron (360+) and 39 more for the 100+ barnstar. Rosguill led again for the 4th year by clearing 49,294 redirects. For the full details see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone!
Minimum deletion time: The previous WP:NPP guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification and WP:BLAR). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)
New draftify script: In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit your common.js or vector.js file from User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js
to User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js
Redirects: Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000+ (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, see this guide, this checklist, and spend some time at WP:RFD.
Discussions with the WMF The PageTriage open letter signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.
