ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message
Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}

Concern regarding Draft:Re-Mi Bandali
Hello, Elias Ziade. This is a bot-delivered message letting you know that Draft:Re-Mi Bandali, a page you created, has not been edited in at least 5 months. Drafts that have not been edited for six months may be deleted, so if you wish to retain the page, please edit it again or request that it be moved to your userspace.
If the page has already been deleted, you can request it be undeleted so you can continue working on it.
Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. FireflyBot (talk) 13:02, 30 November 2022 (UTC)
Your submission at Articles for creation: Arabid slavery (December 2)
- If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to Draft:Arabid slavery and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
- If you do not edit your draft in the next 6 months, it will be considered abandoned and may be deleted.
- If you need any assistance, or have experienced any untoward behavior associated with this submission, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk, on the reviewer's talk page or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help from experienced editors.
- You're right, I shouldn't have. It's sad to see someone waste so much energy on this nonsense, but I actually went ahead and did the same thing. Sorry for the inconvenience @Timtrent. el.ziade (talkallam) 11:38, 2 December 2022 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Sacred area of the Kothon, Motya
Hello, Elias Ziade. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Sacred area of the Kothon".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. ✗plicit 21:00, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Explicit This is a draft of high importance to me. Please have it restored, I did not receive any notification. el.ziade (talkallam) 23:08, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
- Done – as a draft or Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13, the page has been restored upon request. They are not for the indefinite hosting of material that is unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. Please continue to work on the draft so that it meets Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for inclusion, prior to another six months elapsing. ✗plicit 23:54, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
New page reviewer granted
Hi Elias Ziade. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:40, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- @HJ Mitchell Thanks Harry, this is an honor. I'll do the community good. el.ziade (talkallam) 21:15, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
January 2023
Hello Elias Ziade. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Elias Ziade. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Elias Ziade|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Bilby (talk) 22:21, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Bilby I am aware of the policy, and should the need arise I will disclose. Thank you for your note. el.ziade (talkallam) 22:43, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- I do understand that it is difficult to be a paid editor, but given that the community allows it to occur so long as you engage in full transparency, it is possible for you to both continue as an excellent general editor and take part in some paid editing on the side. But the transparency is essential. - Bilby (talk) 22:48, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
@Bilby: I appreciate your note truely, I do admit that I have been contacted by some people, probably because my socials are posted so evidently. but I had only shared this because I was done with anonymity and shying away, not for advertisement. If this is what prompted this please let me know so I can take them down. All I have to reveal is that I was contacted by a sportsman agent. I turned them away and they created a page themselves cos I adhere to the policies and I believe that only subjects or note should be in an encyclopedia. In any case, should anyone contact me again for such things I’ll make sure to adequately report. Thanks again. el.ziade (talkallam) 22:54, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- Well, ultimately it is your call how you proceed. - Bilby (talk) 22:59, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Bilby I am intrigued. Your perfectly acceptable question arrives on the same day that HJ Mitchell grants NPP rights. I'm wondering what has caused you to ask the question? It appears to have been answered in an acceptable, albeit slightly oblique manner with "I am aware of the policy, and should the need arise I will disclose.", but that obliqueness does not detract from it being a clear answer to a clear question. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 23:08, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- The timing was a coincidence - I wasn't aware about the NPP rights until I came to the talk page. It could have been a factor had I have known, but in this case is unconnected. - Bilby (talk) 23:36, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Bilby I left you a message because the timing is very suspicious and this smells like sabotage. el.ziade (talkallam) 08:28, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Well, that was a sudden an unexpected escalation. No, I don't even know what I am supposed to be sabotaging. Any timing issues are simply coincidence - I was not generally aware of your editing at all, and certainly I can't imagine any point where we have had conflict. However, I am very sorry that I gave you that impression. - Bilby (talk) 08:48, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- This is not the first time Bilby has accused experienced editors of UPE without evidence. ––FormalDude (talk) 09:30, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Please don't go there. It doesn't help. - Bilby (talk) 09:38, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- I think, unless Bilby, you have any supporting evidence that you may wish to submit (perhaps offline to a relevant place), and setting aside the comment by FormalDude as interesting though not directly important here, this might be a good place to draw a line under this.
- I can say clearly that I see the response to the challenge as a clear negative answer. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 09:49, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- That is, indeed, my intent. I have no interest in pursuing this further here - I've raised the concern with Elias Ziade, and the ball is in their court, so to speak. Anything further is up to them. - Bilby (talk) 09:52, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Bilby Please don’t get me wrong, I did not accuse You. I unintentionally made quite a few adversaries here, mostly users discontent with reversions and attempts to rein in expressions of their ultranationalistic and extreme orientations. For the longest time I have been avoiding local and regional politics, and religion-related topics, and I leave the articles to realign in time. There are however people who would like to shoot me down. I am just checking to see if this is the case so I can act accordingly. el.ziade (talkallam) 10:16, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Bilby Forgive me. My understanding is that the court is Wikipedia and the ball is now back in the box because the game is over. There is no-one left playing any ball, and honour is satisfied. There are no questions unanswered. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 16:57, 10 January 2023 (UTC)

DYK for Farah (film)
On 10 January 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Farah (film), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the first day of filming of the psychological thriller Farah coincided with the beginning of the 2019 Lebanese protests? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Farah (film). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Farah (film)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Speedy deletion declined: Brittany Venti
Hello Elias Ziade. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Brittany Venti, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. Salvio giuliano 19:23, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Alright @Salvio giuliano thanks. The sources looked poor and I rushed to discount the claims. el.ziade (talkallam) 20:56, 10 January 2023 (UTC)

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:
- Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
- State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
- Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.
- Based on private evidence submitted to the checkuser team in ticket:2023010910014638, it appears that your denial of undisclosed paid editing above was inaccurate. In light of your long history of constructive contributions, I want to note that this block is indefinite, but not infinite. It may be lifted if you provide a full, adequate disclosure as required by section 4 of the Wikimedia ToU, as well as local policy. --Blablubbs (talk) 20:54, 11 January 2023 (UTC)

Decline reason:
I am declining your unblock request because it does not adequately address the reason for your block. We need stronger reassurances that you understand what you have been blocked for and that you will no longer violate the terms of use. If you prefer, you can send your unblock request directly to the CU team dealing with UPE, by sending an e-mail to paid-en-wpwikipedia.org. Salvio giuliano 08:10, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- @Salvio giuliano: Thanks that’s much better.el.ziade (talkallam) 08:19, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
- Elias, I've seen your email to the CheckUser queue, and honestly I'm sympathetic to your situation and your explanation makes sense. I am willing to unblock you on the condition that you properly disclose all edits you have made for pay in the past, following the normal paid-editing disclosure guidelines (and, of course, properly disclose any future work for pay as well). Are you willing to do that? Courtesy ping to Blablubbs as blocking admin. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GeneralNotability (talk • contribs) 01:39, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- I've also seen the paid-en email, and I agree with GN's assessment. I'm happy with any unblock scenario that includes full disclosure of any past or future paid editing. --Blablubbs (talk) 02:36, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- To be clear: this means public disclosure, on your userpage, just like what it says at Wikipedia:Paid-contribution_disclosure#How_to_disclose. You don't need to tell us the backstory, but we need to know which pages were created/edited for pay and who paid. GeneralNotability (talk) 00:18, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
- @GeneralNotability: The articles in question are Radu Dan Constantinescu, and The Snap Elect. I shall tag the above article’s talk pages and will disclose any future paid contributions. el.ziade (talkallam) 01:39, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
@Salvio giuliano:, is there anything else I can do?- Note you didn't ping me, because you did not sign your comment; however, I have your talk page on my watchlist.
Anyway, I have read Ticket:2023011210005721 and your comments above and, personally, I am satisfied, provided you confirm that you intend to also put{{paid}}
or a similar disclosure on your main userpage, in addition to tagging the articles, as required under Wikipedia:Paid-contribution_disclosure#How_to_disclose. If you agree to do that for these paid contributions and for any future ones, tomorrow I will unblock your account. - @GeneralNotability: The articles in question are Radu Dan Constantinescu, and The Snap Elect. I shall tag the above article’s talk pages and will disclose any future paid contributions. el.ziade (talkallam) 01:39, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
- I've also seen the paid-en email, and I agree with GN's assessment. I'm happy with any unblock scenario that includes full disclosure of any past or future paid editing. --Blablubbs (talk) 02:36, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
@Blablubbs, GeneralNotability, and Salvio giuliano: Elias Ziade's user page paid editor declaration is not a full declaration as it does not specify any articles or employers (added via this edit to his profile). His declarations on the articles in question are not full declarations either as they list the employers simply as "a private individual" on Radu Dan Constantinescu [1], and as "T.D." on The Snap Elect [2]. This does not seem to meet the requirements of Wikipedia:Paid-contribution_disclosure#How_to_disclose, and thus does not seem to meet the agreed upon action required for his unbolck. Meters (talk) 02:45, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Meters so I am supposed to give the individuals' full names publicly? I am concerned about their privacy and confidentiality. If there's a way I can do it in private, let me know. If not, I will add this to the pages. Anything else? el.ziade (talkallam) 03:06, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- You agree to full disclosure. Did you do that without even reading the linked text? It says "Editors who are or expect to be compensated for their contributions must disclose their employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any paid contributions." and "Paid editors who cannot disclose their employer, client, and affiliations are prohibited from editing. Non-disclosure agreements do not invalidate this requirement. There is no confidentiality for the employer, client, or affiliations." Meters (talk) 03:11, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- I didn't read the fine print and I will disclose the required information, or are you trying to get me blocked at any cost?@Meters If so Wikipedia will be losing someone who is actually of benefit, not someone with editcountitis. And leave room for the users your pinged to reply if you please. el.ziade (talkallam) 03:15, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Blablubbs@GeneralNotability@Salvio giuliano@Timtrent Please intervene, tell me what to do, I am sick of being on the defensive end. I did what I have to do, and I will do what is asked of me. As for @Meters, if you want to strip me from the privileges, please be my guest. I don't care about the prestige, nor about edit count. As long as you lay off my back and let me continue editing in peace. Also a note to @Blablubbs@GeneralNotability@Salvio giuliano@Timtrent, in my reply to the ticket in private, I said I did it out of shame. If you go to the noticeboard, you will see the culture of Shaming paid contribution "I think all paid editors, whoever they are, should be ashamed of exploiting for financial gain what volunteers have spent thousands of hours building for free". I am not justifying my action, I am pointing out that the culture should actually encourage disclosure, not shame it. el.ziade (talkallam) 03:26, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- don't understand your references to me attempting to get you blocked. I did not mention a block, I simply raised the issue that you had been unblocked without actually meeting the requirements for disclosure. I also don't understand your reference to "editcountitis" ( I have said nothing about edit numbers) or to leaving room for other editors to comment. You pinged me back to this discussion and asked a question, so I answered it. I don't appreciate the attacks, and I'm not impressed that you are couching this as you not having read the fine print. The linked section is all of four sentences. It's not a case of fine print. My WP:AGF is done so I'm not responding again. Don't ping me again, please. Meters (talk) 03:32, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- Well, Elias, I partly sympathise with your argument that the culture of shame surrounding paid editing ends up discouraging disclosure, but the policy is very clear (and so are the terms of use) and I am afraid that I agree with Meters that your disclosure, at this stage, is insufficient. You are expected to clearly – and publicly – disclose the employer, client and affiliation for all the paid contributions you made and writing "a private individual" or "T.D." is not enough and the same goes for the declaration on your user page.
Separately, I am not going to revoke any of your user rights, because that's not required per policy and because I do not find it necessary. Other administrators may disagree, however... Salvio giuliano 08:26, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

Hello, I don't agree with draftification of that article. I think it meets Wikipedia:Stub. Am I missing something? What is missing for a stub here? Or shall we now move all stubs to draft namespace? (I didn't have and didn't find with a bit of online bibliography "plenty of sources to build a good article" that I could access and decided that with a bit of time it's still nice to have this short article, better than nothing in accordance with the idea of Wikipedia:Stub. If this gets draftified that has been a waste of time. But then it would be better to know before and we should rather change Wikipedia:Stub so that people don't have to waste their time with writing stubs.) --Marsupium (talk) 17:30, 18 February 2023 (UTC)

Hi there, hope you're doing well. I have a request: would it be possible for you to do some reviews at GAN? At the moment, you have 9 GAs and a one more up for nomination, but you haven't done any reviews.
This would also help with your placing in the queue, which has been reordered so that people with a higher ratio of reviewers to nominations are placed higher. Replaceable non-free use File:Ibni Lebanon Basketball team - Khalil Ziade.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Ibni Lebanon Basketball team - Khalil Ziade.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 09:00, 15 April 2023 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter June 2023
Hello Elias Ziade/Archives,
Backlog
Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by Meena and Greyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.
Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.
Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.
You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.
Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

The article Successor culture has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unlikely to develop into more than a dictionary-type entry. Sources cited just mention the term in passing, as did the ones I surveyed in Google Scholar.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Triple Crown
Lebanese pterosaur article
Hi, inspired by your efforts in improving articles about Lebanese history, I'm in the process of expanding the article Mimodactylus, probably the most famous fossil from Lebanon, for GAN and FAC. I know little about the palaeontology of my fatherland, so it's a way to learn more, but since I also don't read Arabic, I wondered if you know of any news sources or similar about the discovery that could be used? In any case, good luck with your current FAC (Sarcophagus of Eshmunazar II), while I usually don't review articles I already promoted at GAN, I may have a look if it stalls. But seems it got a very good response so far. Perhaps ping and ask if the reviewer has more to add for the article to be supported? FunkMonk (talk) 04:17, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- What a beautiful piece! I never knew of that fossil thanks for starting the article. I will need some time to review it and once I make my modifications I will let you know so that we can enlist the help of a SME. I am sure this can be pushed to FA with proper attention to detail. I am not in a rush to promote the sarcophagus article. I have I believe four GA nominations and two DYKs at least pending. They will be reviewed eventually. el.ziade (talkallam) 09:00, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- Nice, I'm still in the process of expanding the article, so I can give you a ping once it's done if you want to have a look. And cool, didn't know you had GANs up at the moment, I'll see if I can take one of them up. FunkMonk (talk) 11:34, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- The article is now at GAN, since I created the article, I'm thinking of nominating it for the WP:four award, but I need a DYK hook, feel free to suggest one and to join me in the nomination. FunkMonk (talk) 13:19, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- @FunkMonk certainly ! I’m at a music festival and will do that tomorrow buddy el.ziade (talkallam) 14:16, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- @FunkMonk What do you think of these?
- Did you know that Mimodactylus, a pterosaur genus from the Late Cretaceous, was discovered in Lebanon and its well-preserved specimen is now exhibited at the Mim Museum in Beirut.
- Did you know that Mimodactylus is the first complete pterosaur specimen found in the Afro-Arabian continent and provides insight into ancient island ecosystems?
- Did you know that the pterosaur Mimodactylus likely had unique feeding habits, possibly foraging for decapod crustaceans on water surfaces, unlike other pterosaurs?
- Did you know that Mimodactylus had a distinctive rectangular crest on its humerus, and its long wings and relatively small body size contributed to its stable flight pattern?
- Did you know that the teeth of Mimodactylus, with their specialized features, indicate a diet of crustaceans, expanding the understanding of pterosaur feeding strategies?
- Did you know that the discovery of Mimodactylus provides valuable insights into the ancient coastal environment of Lebanon during the Late Cretaceous, with evidence of marine and terrestrial organisms?
- Did you know that the pterosaur Mimodactylus and its unique characteristics challenge previous assumptions about the behavior and ecological roles of these prehistoric creatures?
- Did you know that the fossilized remains of Mimodactylus were split in two during discovery, but thanks to careful preparation, it became the centerpiece of the fossil vertebrate collection at the Mim Museum?
- el.ziade (talkallam) 08:13, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- Nice, I also have "that Mimodactylus is the first complete pterosaur known from the Afro Arabian continent", problem is that most people probably don't know what that is... Could maybe also say "first complete pterosaur from the Middle East." Either way, that it's the first complete specimen from this area seems to be the most important aspect of it, but it's hard to phrase. FunkMonk (talk) 11:32, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- @FunkMonk yeah, but I’d rather readers be curious than changing it to Middle East because in this specific instance the terms are not interchangeable. This is exciting! I strongly suggest you take it ti FA. I will help you with the work when the reviews come. On a similar note, my FA submission is stalling because I haven’t had any feedback and it might be closed if I don’t get any within 3-4 days. I’ll ping a few people who volunteered for earlier submissions. el.ziade (talkallam) 11:37, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- You're probably right, and you also seem to have much more DYK experience than me. And yeah, I'll take it to FAC right after GAN is over. Seems your FAC us getting off the ground now, by the way! FunkMonk (talk) 07:48, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- @FunkMonk Thank you for pitching in and yes! Quite a few editors are taking action. It’s exciting and dreadful 😂 el.ziade (talkallam) 09:50, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

- Now FAC nominated, next step would be DYK. FunkMonk (talk) 03:12, 20 August 2023 (UTC)
- And now at DYK[3], added you as nominator. FunkMonk (talk) 14:18, 22 August 2023 (UTC)

TFA
Hi Elias. I am planning on running Sarcophagus of Eshmunazar II as the TFA on 20 November and wondered if you fancied having a go at the blurb? Gog the Mild (talk) 21:59, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- On this note, I had earlier suggested to run this or another one of Elias' Lebanon related FAs on November 22, the Independence day of Lebanon. Would be a bit of a missed opportunity if it ran only two days earlier, I'd think! FunkMonk (talk) 22:12, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- I didn't realise that. I see your point but I was going to run Assassination of John F. Kennedy on the 22nd. Umm.
- Oh, that's quite some competition... FunkMonk (talk) 22:28, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- I didn't realise that. I see your point but I was going to run Assassination of John F. Kennedy on the 22nd. Umm.
- I was also going to run Rodrigues night heron on the 6th. Any issues with that? And it will need a blurb . Gog the Mild (talk) 22:25, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- No issues with that, and no upcoming Rodriguan independence day... FunkMonk (talk) 22:28, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- Phew! You ok with having a go at a draft blurb? Gog the Mild (talk) 22:32, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- If I get the time, will probably just be a shortened version of the intro if I do it, as usual. FunkMonk (talk) 22:34, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- That is just what I do, and I've written over 400 of the things. Thanks, appreciated. Gog the Mild (talk) 23:59, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
- @FunkMonk @Gog the Mild I apologize, again, for not being as available as I should. I had not thought of any particular time for TFA. November 22 sounds nice! But if there are other articles with higher priority, I totally understand. el.ziade (talkallam) 17:56, 12 September 2023 (UTC)
- No need to apologise, we have more than eight weeks to get this sorted. Unfortunately (IMO) the Sarcophagus article has quite a weak link with Lebanese Independence day, while the only day it makes sense to TFA the JFK one is on the 22nd. I will move Sarcophagus to the 21st, so at least the start of the day Lebanon time will have it as a TFA. Are you ok to have a go at a draft blurb? Gog the Mild (talk) 15:54, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
- Elias, this is scheduled for 21 November. I will write the blurb. (Unless you have already done one and hidden it somewhere?) Cheers. Gog the Mild (talk) 21:28, 28 September 2023 (UTC)

DYK for Royal necropolis of Ayaa
On 5 October 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Royal necropolis of Ayaa, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the royal necropolis of Ayaa in Sidon, Lebanon, was accidentally discovered in the late 19th century by a workman who stumbled upon a shaft and chamber tomb while quarrying for stone? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Royal necropolis of Ayaa. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Royal necropolis of Ayaa), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Your GA nomination of Baalshillem II
The article Baalshillem II you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Baalshillem II for comments about the article, and Talk:Baalshillem II/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has never appeared on the Main Page as a "Did you know" item, and has not appeared within the last year either as "Today's featured article", or as a bold link under "In the news" or in the "On this day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear at DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On this day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. October 2023
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Nahr Ibrahim. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. signed, Rosguill talk 21:24, 15 October 2023 (UTC)

User Tag
You spooked me a bit there! But no harm no foul 😅
By the way, the updated user tag is misspelled, so you might want to edit it again

Godwin's Law removal of my edit
Hi, You wrote that my recent edit to Godwin's law "seemed less than neutral". Isn't Godwin's Law opinionated to begin with? Godwin's Law was articulated in a blog, as the very 1st footnote of the page points to. Oferze (talk) 19:03, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

Thank you today for Sarcophagus of Eshmunazar II, "about the sarcophagus of Eshmunazar II, a Phoenician King of Sidon from the 6th century BC. It was unearthed in 1855 in an ancient necropolis near Sidon, Lebanon. The sarcophagus is notable for its long Phoenician inscriptions, which provide insights into the king's identity, lineage, and achievements, including his involvement in the conquest of Egypt. The sarcophagus is of Egyptian manufacture. Its discovery sparked enthusiasm for archaeological research in the Levant."! -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:15, 21 November 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Images of Phoenicia
A tag has been placed on Category:Images of Phoenicia indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 02:48, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
