This message was delivered by HostBot (talk) 17:20, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of County of Rouen, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.pointblog.it/caliandro/background.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) CorenSearchBot (talk) 01:59, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on County of Rouen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.mtv.com/artists/william-the-conqueror/biography/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — JJMC89(T·E·C) 02:18, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

If you want to, I could rewrite the entire Paraguayan War article, but that would take many months. Nonetheless, it would be FA standard. --Lecen (talk) 17:02, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

Your contributed article, Passage of Humaitá

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Passage of Humaitá. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Siege of Humaitá. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Siege of Humaitá – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Howicus (Did I mess up?) 22:51, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

If what you're trying to do is move the existing page to a new title, you're not doing it properly. Please see Help:Moving a page for information on how to change the title of a page. Howicus (Did I mess up?) 22:52, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
As you are here, you need to know that the two articles covers two different things, the passage of the ships is only one of its events. Bertdrunk (talk) 23:00, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Count of Rouen, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Frankish, William Longsword and Homage. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Undisambiguation in military conflict infobox "partof" parameter

Are you absolutely sure that in your reversions of the unambiguous campaign name "Anglo-French War (1778–83)" to the very ambiguous "Anglo-French War" you are adhering to the true intent of the military conflict infobox "partof" parameter? Your revert reason "the name is right, the year is a disambiguation" could logically be countered by a re-revert on the grounds that "the name is wrong, the year is a disambiguation"- but if you can point to a discussion or MoS policy which supports you, I'll accept it. 79.75.184.161 (talk) 16:32, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

It's pretty simple actually, the name is "Anglo-French War", the years are there just to differentiate it from others "Anglo-French Wars", the same way when you talk about The Walking Dead you don't write "The Walking Dead (TV series)", but put it under the link. Bertdrunk (talk) 06:38, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
It really is not that simple. "Anglo-French War" is not the full name of any one war, which is why the disambiguation page exists. Using the name "Anglo-French War" without dates is about as useful as using the name "King Edward" without further identifiers. The "The Walking Dead" analogy is misleading because almost all "The Walking Dead" material relates to the same franchise; if you apply that logic, then you should use the collective plural "Anglo-French Wars" but it still wouldn't be particularly useful. So, I repeat: if you can point to a discussion or MoS policy which supports you, I'll accept it. 79.75.184.161 (talk) 12:08, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
If the name of the King is Edward, so it is, you don't write it Edward (Russian Principality of Siberia) or whatever, what you do is point it to the right place. This can go forever as it's valid for any example in existence. I suggest you read WP:INTDABLINK, MOS:LINKS, MOS:PIPE, WP:DABPIPE, MOS:DABREDIR and then do whatever you wish. Just pls, don't go writing Prince (musician) or Queen (band) around. Bertdrunk (talk) 12:29, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
I view the Battle of Bicocca as an example of the way things should probably be done, where the "partof" parameter leads to the specific war Italian War of 1521–26, which then has its own "partof" parameter leading to Italian Wars. Obscure true fact: although the infoboxes for works by musicians handle the jump to general quite neatly ("Studio album by Prince" or "Music drama by Richard Wagner") there isn't an equivalent of the "partof" parameter in the film infobox, so it can't be used, for example, to jump from Skyfall to James_Bond_in_film. 79.75.184.161 (talk) 17:24, 9 November 2016 (UTC)

Regarding your move of "Template:Campaignbox American War of Independence: West Indies" to "Template:Campaignbox Third Anglo-Maratha War", I have reversed this as best I can as you have not provided any rationale for this move but the attribution is now quite messy. This is the second time that this move has been performed recently with no rationale. Is there is something I am missing? In the meantime, I have protected the templates. Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Doug Weller talk 19:19, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

You copied material from Evacuation of the La Romana Division? Right? No problem as long as you do as above. I usually use edit summaries. I did this when I was new. Doug Weller talk 19:20, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

Yes, a paragraph. Thx for the advice. Bertdrunk (talk) 19:40, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

I see you are still not adding the required attribution, as required under the terms of the CC-by-SA license. Please have a look at this edit summary as an example of how it is done. Please let me know if you still don't understand what to do or why we have to do it. Thanks, — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:25, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

March Madness 2017

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) & MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 07:24, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time. For the co-ordinators, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:35, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

User group for Military Historians

Greetings,

"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
  • updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

You've been unsubscribed from the Feedback Request Service

Hi Berty688! You're receiving this notification because you were previously subscribed to the Feedback Request Service, but you haven't made any edits to the English Wikipedia in over three years.

In order to declutter the Feedback Request Service list, and to produce a greater chance of active users being randomly selected to receive invitations to contribute, you've been unsubscribed, along with all other users who have made no edits in three years or more.

You do not need to do anything about this - if you are happy to not receive Feedback Request Service messages, thank you very much for your contributions in the past, and this will be the last you hear from the service. If, however, you would like to resubscribe yourself, you can follow the below instructions to do so:

  1. Go to the Feedback Request Service page.
  2. Decide which categories are of interest to you, under the RfC and/or GA headings.
  3. Paste {{Frs user|{{subst:currentuser}}|limit}} underneath the relevant heading(s), where limit is the maximum number of requests you wish to receive for that category per month.
  4. Publish the page.

If you've just come back after a wikibreak and are seeing this message, welcome back! You can follow the above instructions to re-activate your subscription. Likewise, if this is an alternate account, please consider subscribing your main account in much the same way.

Note that if you had a rename and left your old name on the FRS page, you may be receiving this message. If so, make sure your new account name is on the FRS list instead.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the Feedback Request Service talk page, or on the Feedback Request Service bot's operator's talk page. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:26, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
