Hi Dzlinker - Accodring to the article she is originally from Tafilalt, then settled in Ahaggar. The categories "People from ..." apply to people who are natives or known residents of a given place. Masmuda & Ribat

Actually, technically, they are. Berghwata were originally a branch of the Masmuda, although since their "apostasy", they are not normally grouped together with "the Masmuda" (TM) of the High-Middle Atlas, so I'm not going to object to your change. Also - one more question on your "ribat" reference. Yes, Waggag had a ribat, that is indisputable. But the connection between that and the Almoravid name is not one I have explicitly seen, and makes me a little wary. Ok, that would make the Masmuda quite a big tribe. I've read (In al-Bakri I think) that they are not one group but various Berber tribes that became known by that name because of their following of Salih's relgion.

No actually there is only a mention of the name of the ribat in the chronicles. But I thought that it might be possible given Abi Zar's account; Ibn Yassin founding a Ribat in Tidra and giving it the same name as that of his teacher seems a reasonable theory. Al-Bakri says that? That's very odd. Well, Ibn Khaldun certainly classifies them with Masmuda, and everyone since seems to have followed that. I suppose it is possible they could be a mixed bunch. Although I thought they really didn't get along with the Zenata at all. Yes, the Masmuda are quite big. If their history is to be believed, they covered all of Morocco at one point, they were the originals, until the Zenata and Sanhaja started arriving and tried to penetrate and squeeze them out of the valleys, wedging them into parts (Ghomara in the Rif, Berghwata in Tamensa and Masmuda (TM) in the High Atlas). On "ribat": it is possible, I guess. Although shoehorning Waggag in is a bit of a stretch, sine he is a rather peripheral figure, the Almoravids didn't reach his area until later in the campaign. The push in recent literature is to try to move away from the "monastery-fortress" explanation, and underline the abstract "trying/persevering" explanation, rather than a concrete location. In a couple of places, I've even found ribat translated as "the cause" (more precisely the "coming together for..." a cause), with the "Almoravids" as the "the Men of the Cause", which seems kinda like how they presented themselves. Yes he says that Salih preached his religion between the Zenata of Tamesna. He also added a list of tribes that observed this religion + another number of tribes that were Muslims but under the authority of the Berghwata. Though he relied on an informant (A Senhaja from Azemmur) and was not a specialist as Ibn Khaldun. My understanding of this was that the Masmuda were everything south of Azemmur until the Sahara (Doukkala, Regraga, Haha then the Sous and the High Atlas) and north of Azemmur -along the coast- were the Berghwata up-until the Jebala.

Re Waggag, if we were to believe Ibn Abi Zar & al-Bakri he was fairly important as he was the one who called on the Almoravid to come north and who commended Ibn Yassin to go back to the Sahara and fight those who didn't follow him. Also after the death of Ibn Yassin only the disciples of Waggag assumed the religious authority (a certain sliman and another after him according to Qadi Ayyad), though this might have changed under Yusef Ibn Tashfin. The word al-Murabitun certainly has many figurative meanings as it is cited in the Qur'an twice in the sens of perseverance, patience, courage in facing tribulations. According to Lisan al-Arab dictionary, all meanings are related to the primary r-b-t (to tie) and ribat (the place where a military force in encamping in preparation of a fight). The structure of the word (i.e. use of long "a" after the r) denotes the perpetuation of an action. (see Masdar though the explanation on wiki is vague) Tachfin (talk) 12:48, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

I have put an R.S check on it. I think we must follow policy when a edit war keeps going back and forth. Hi, I reverted the IP's edit, then I looked at what the edit was about and it was constructive. I self-reverted my rollback edit. It wasn't disruptive editing as far as I can see aside from the rapid undoing of your edits and the IP's by each other. As for the block evasion, I don't know. Yes that is a blocked disruptive user. Occasionally he may make constructive edits, but evading a block is always vandalism; I don't look at every diff since I already know what they are gonna be. Frankly I don't have any specific military knowledge so I can't help more. Naturalized citizens of Qatar

Hey, the work on Qataris is appreciated, but can you tell me why you added the category wrongly to so many pages? I can count around 16-17 wikipedia pages where the subject is not naturalized. Elspamo4 (talk) 11:24, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

As I said, I can see more than 15 pages wrongly added (all football). As long as the subject is born in Qatar, then they are most probably not naturalized. Hussein Yasser, for example, may be an exception, but there is no certainty whether the other people of foreign descent were naturalized, e.g Mirghani Al Zain or Hamad Shami. We know where they are descended from, but we would need proof that they were NOT a citizen from their time of birth. And you have added the category to some ethnic Qataris, such as Saud Al Hajri and Hassan Al Haidos. I'm going to remove it from some of the pages, unless you can provide individual references for each of them being naturalized or clarify on why they're considered naturalized. Being born in Qatar isn't enough. According to Qatari law, a person is considered a native Qatari if they're born to a Qatari father, whether abroad or in Qatar. Anyway, providing individual references for each case is an uphill task, especially considering that they change their names as well. Feel free to remove if you have doubt but keep it reasonable, Qatar's history of sport's naturalization is extensive. --Tachfin (talk) 04:56, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

I'm aware of Qatari law. The point is, while it is obvious that some of them are of foreign descent, there is no certainty of their family's history in the country, or if any of their any of their fathers were naturalized. I've already removed the category from most of the football-related pages, but I see it has been added to some ethnic Qatari athletes as well. I understand why you would add it to people whose names seem foreign, but you should be able to distinguish ethnic surnames, such as Muftah or Al Dosari. Just to add to that, please do not add categories for unreferenced information about descent. If their descent is not explicitly stated and referenced in the article, do not add the category stating that they are "of country X descent". Can I request that you take another look at List of ships of the Royal Moroccan Navy in comparison to Royal Moroccan Navy#Equipment? Your edit summary indicates that you think the content of the list merely overlaps with that of the main article; but unless I've missed something it really is literally just a duplication of the relevant content. That is to say, all of the content of the list is available at the main article. Maghrebi quarter (Harat Al-Maghariba) or Moroccon Quarter?

A Moroccan user, Omar-Toons is claiming that the Maghrebi quarter (Harat al-Maghariba) of Jerusalem established starting the 11th century (by people from all over the Maghreb region, as stated by some other wikis) is exclusively Moroccan. Insisting that the articles’a name should be ‘the Moroccan quarter’ and not ‘the maghrebi quarter.’. The recurrent expression(s) in the article has (have) been modified. We can read, from the article:

• according to the 15th-century historian Mujir ad-Din, as a waqf (charitable trust) dedicated to Moroccans;
• ‘Later pious Moroccan donors extended this with several other waqfs: in 1303’
• for the benefit of Moroccans living in the Moroccan Quarter,
• The quarter was donated to and mainly inhabited by people of Moroccan descent, who held on to their…

Actually, I don't think it is a WP:SOCK, however I doubt about the sincerity of this user : since the beginning, he only focuses on Morocco-related articles and keeps watching my edits by intervening on each article I edit. His obsession on drug and prostitution issues in Morocco only confirm my doubts.

Now there are doubts about my sincerity!!! Do you expect me to write an article glorifying the monarchy to be more sincere. Enough of being ashamed, no offense, but those issues are real and deserve to be addressed in wiki. The United Nations and the US Department of State write reports every year about Cannabis production and human trafficking in Morocco, go and ask them to not do so. Please, no more accusations. I am not that new user you think. He re is an answer already given to Omar-Toons here [3]:

I do not really understand this behavior from user Omar-Toons. I do not neither understand what he means by "presumed new user"!!!??? Why is that? Is it only because I asked for references? Or may be Omar-Toons do not like to be challenged. As I know, Wikipedia is a collaborative project in which contributors should accept to be collaborative and should accept to be challenged on a scientific base.

Now, to avoid confusion, let me introduce myself. I am not that new user. I contributed long time ago, under an IP address, to Wiki (because of that I already know some of the policies). Starting the month of September, my son (the high school student here in Canada) has to accomplish some extensive work about Morocco (as have some of his classmates to accomplish similar work about other north African countries). And, to be honest, I was shocked to see all that unreliable content. How could we trust that? How could we as parents and how could our teachers allow some scientific works to be based on such articles? So I decided to be back.

Now, in my real life, I am a university professor. And the most important is that I am a reviewer for some of the most prestigious scientific journals edited in Oxford, UK. Analyzing and reviewing articles is my job.

Omar-Toons is accusing me of policing him, I do not understand how he dares showing to other administrators an example of his rudeness and impoliteness towards other contributors!? (Stating their contributions are stupid) Is it allowed to be that rude and impolite in Wiki? Omar-Toons also treated one of my contributions of useless while he has simply hidden a part of the article republic of Sale’ instead of sourcing it. Now, let’s admit you were translating the article, why did not you add the appropriate tag to let us know??? Finally, I would like to inform the administrators that I do not contribute to wiki to be involved in edit wars, my aim is to make wiki more reliable.

Now, regarding the fun stuff and other places as you mentioned:(there are other places for what you seem to be wanting to do; youtube, blogs, twitter & lots of other fun stuff). You talk to me as if I was a teenager!!!! Please take a look at my user page, it will give you a pretty good idea about me.

Ethnicity or sexuality should not generally be emphasized in the opening unless it is relevant to the subject's notability. Similarly, previous nationalities or the country of birth should not be mentioned in the opening sentence unless they are relevant to the subject's notability.

Since the subject is notable for being a rapper, where he was born and his ethnicity is not relevant to the his notability. Even if we kept that, per WP:OVERLINK, we don't link to countries.

Shia Imami Ismaili Tariqa

While Shia Imami Ismaili Tariqa is the name of the Aqa Khan Imamate Nizaris, not all Nizaris are followers of the Aqa Khan as al-Imam al-Hadhir. We should not replace the description of Nizarism with that of a single sect of Nizaris. I myself am a Nizari of the Shia Imami Ismaili Tariqa but I do not think it is wise to write off all Nizaris who don't follow my Imam. The page should be rewritten to emphasise the centrality of the Shia Imami Ismaili Tariqa in Nizari thought and practice but the Shia Imami Ismaili Tariqa should not displace all Ismailis of the Nizari persuasion by default. Honestly I don't think there is call for a separate article aside from "Nizari" at this time; it would be greatly duplicated. It's worthwhile just to note that the majority of Nizaris are followers of the Aqa Khan in the article as it would be kind of a rabbit hole of scholarship to find anyone knowledgeable enough to write about those who aren't followers of HRH the Aqa Khan. Still, they should not be erased due to lack of scholarship. But it's definitely incorrect to remove the page Nizari and replace it with just the followers of the HRH as Hazir Imam. Best just to revert to Nizari, especially since we are also dealing with pre-modern Nizaris in the article as well whose fiqh was quite distinct. Ogress _smash! 15:45, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi Tachfin, thank you for your attention. Please take a look at the Jews in Carthage article now, as I have totally revamped it. All the old stuff was removed and replaced by WP:V & WP:RS from the Jewish Encyclopedia, and from the Jewish Virtual Library based on the Encyclopedia Judaica, as well as from sources found by using Google Books. I have spent some time wikifying and upgrading it and there is still more that can be done, but now it at least stands as a good article allaying your initial concerns and objections. List of birds of Western Sahara

Hi Tachfin: I've been slowly working my way through the massive cleanup list for WP:BIRDS, and today came across List of birds of Western Sahara. I found your (August 2011) tag, which said "General inaccuracies, many of these birds have little to do with WS, article is overly long". I've removed the tag, because all of these species have been recorded in the country, so the list isn't really "overly long"; in fact, the current list for the country is 335 — more than 100 species more than is currently shown in our article! I'll be working on bringing the list up-to-date, including indicating which species are vagrants/accidental. Please let me know if you continue to have concerns! The first point, in the intro, I was clarifying what was otherwise uncommon English wording. Also, I found English sources that replaced information reinforced by a French source. In WP:A, it shows that WP:V § Non-English sources aren't preferable because this is the English Wikipedia, for the convenience of readers in the English-language, sources should be used in preference to foreign-language sources, provided they are otherwise of equal suitability, so that readers can easily verify that the source material has been used correctly.

I wanted to address the changes I made to the article, and explain why I'm hitting "undo" on your deletions and certain additions. As to the "unexplained removal of content," on the second point, the biography, the <ref>{{cite news|title=PALACE COERCION PLAGUES MOROCCO'S REAL ESTATE SECTOR|url=http://dazzlepod.com/cable/09CASABLANCA226/?q=Mounir%20Majidi|accessdate=14 August 2012|newspaper=Consulate Casablanca|date=Dec 11, 2009}}</ref> leads to a dead link. http://dazzlepod.com/cable/09CASABLANCA226/?q=Mounir%20Majidi Doesn't exist.

The same points I made about the intro can be attributed to undoing the 'Early Life,' and 'Business' sections, your changes aren't explained or justified, as you're using French sources, again against WP:A to remove three entire paragraphs of my contribution using reliable English sources. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
