Happy New Year

Dear Versus22,
I just wanted to wish you and your family a happy new year, however you're celebrating it. Whether 2008 was a good year for you, or if it wasn't the greatest year, hopefully 2009 will be better. Cheers, and happy editing in 2009 :-),

Happy New Year!

Christmas was yesterday: Happy New Year!

Yes, and thanks for helping out on my page when I'm not there. I hope you also have a Happy New Year! :) Versus22 talk 04:29, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Protection?

Versus, do you want me to semi-protect your userpage? I've seen it's been vandalized over 120 times. Lazulilasher (talk) 04:54, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks guys, and Happy New Year to both of you! :) Versus22 talk 05:17, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Too Speedy!

The last four vandal edits I've attempted to undo were fixed by the time I could attempt to fix them, and the vandals were warned before I could paste a warning on their talk pages! Either I need to get a faster internet connection, or you need to get over your unfortunate caffeine addiction so that I can stop a few vandals and not look so bad by comparison. Either way, thanks for your anti-vandalism work, and have a happy new year! Axeman89 (talk) 08:56, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, it's 1 a.m. where I live... I'll take a break for at least an hour so you can do some work. Thanks for the compliment, and Happy New Year to you too! :) Versus22 talk 09:04, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Eh, go ahead and keep up with the work. I have to wake up early tomorrow morning, so I might as well call it a night now. Axeman89 (talk) 09:08, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Changing picture

Hi Versus22, I'm new to Wikipedia and I wanted to know how to change a picture. I was trying to change the picture for Melody Thomas Scott on her character's page to be the same as the actress's page but wasn't able to do so. Can you help me.

Maverickj2k (talk) 05:25, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Copy the link that goes to that image (file page), and paste it into the article you want it. But before that, which two articles were you saying about? Versus22 talk 05:41, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Article

Here are the two articles and the pic:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melody_Thomas_Scott

Put [[Image:Nikkinewman2008.jpg]] in the Infobox under the image column. Versus22 talk 06:11, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Oh, and use the show preview button to see if it's done right. :) Versus22 talk 06:14, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Note that it might not need [[ ]] in the infobox, just the image file name. I hope I helped you out! :) Versus22 talk 06:25, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Pic unable to swap

Hey Versus, I tried to swap out the pics but wasn't able to do so.

Maverickj2k (talk) 04:22, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, I don't know what to do then. However, the Image/File pages is one of the things I lack, since I haven't uploaded photos or view + edit those pages much (as you can see in my edits). Try asking at the help desk, or perhaps another user that knows more of that than me. I did my best to help you, though. Versus22 talk 05:28, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Page blanked by author

Hi. Though page blanking is usually vandalism and needs to be reverted, it is worth looking first at the page history, because quite often the author has blanked his own page, as was the case with Idrees azad just now. In those cases the best thing is to tag it {{db-author}}. It can be confusing for an author who realises his page is inappropriate and blanks it, if his page is at once restored and he is accused of vandalism for the blanking and told it was unconstructive. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:21, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

I didn't get notified by Huggle that he was the page creator. Sorry about that, I've been through a lot of pages that have been vandalized. I'll slow down and look at new pages. Thanks for telling me. Versus22 talk 20:27, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
No problem - it's easy to do. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:32, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

myg0t article deletion

"Delete Not notable. Hardly anyone has heard about this site. Vernon (Versus22) (talk) 23:22, 4 December 2008 (UTC)"

Are you kidding? myg0t was one of THE MOST notorious internet griefing groups amongst the gaming community, especially between 2003-2005 when the source leak occurred and the creation of www.pwned.nl - which may i add gains over 1m unique hits every year (up until 2006 at least).

myg0t is still active to this day, even if not as notorious as they once were, they are still very well known especially amongst the more veteran gamers.

I just wish to express my disapproval at the article deletion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.109.149.203 (talk) 18:38, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Alright, I get what you're saying. I don't remember why I said that. However, the article still would have been deleted since there were only two other people, and they both voted to be deleted. Versus22 talk 23:16, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome!

Hi Versus22. Thanks for the welcome at my IP address User talk:121.127.195.158 after I cleaned the sandbox. I was preparing to use the sandbox for a test edit and had opened a new window. I didn't bother to log in at the second window. (I played around with the test edit but I didn't save it to the sandbox. I eventually saved it to Colloid.)

When I became a Wiki user (July 2007) the first edit on my Talk page was a message from an RC Patroller telling me he didn't like my first article. As a result, I never had a red Talk flag against my name so no-one ever welcomed me, until now. (Not that I'm complaining.) I now welcome newcomers whenever I see a red Talk flag on my Watchlist, and I must have welcomed over 50 newcomers.

So thanks for the welcome. It is genuinely appreciated. Keep up the good work. Best regards. Dolphin51 (talk) 07:35, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

No problem. I didn't get a welcome message when I joined Wikipedia (December 2007) either. However, welcoming people is important to me to tell people that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that users need to build new pieces of useful information, rather than not caring for this site (i.e. vandalizing articles). Versus22 talk 07:52, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Welcomes

Hi Versus22. I see you are using automated tools to welcome large numbers of new accounts. Please would you reconsider this, as it is problematic for a number of reasons. It floods the new pages log, making vandalism control harder; 90% of new accounts never edit, so welcoming accounts without any contributions wastes bandwidth and time; it turns red linked talk pages blue on the user creation log, again making vandalism control harder; and WP:RfA has repeatedly shown a distaste for running up edit counts by this sort of mass automated edit - people oppose for doing it. Thanks very much. ➨ ЯEDVERS a reasonably good buy 08:33, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

The white tiger

Hi,

I just would like to make a difference between two novels both called "the white tiger". One is written by Adiga in 2008, the second one by Nathan in 1987. It's not vandalism. Is it ok? Thank you Chmoul (talk) 20:10, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

However, you deleted content from The White Tiger by Adiga. Versus22 talk 20:15, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
And The White Tiger article by Nathan doesn't even exist. Versus22 talk 20:31, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
I simply moved from the page The white tiger to the page The white tiger (Adiga). I was going to create a page The white tiger (Nathan) before you call me vandal. The page The white tiger should present the two novels. Is that ok for you? I think you understood what I was doing and I don't understand what is the matter with this page. I am a big contributor on the French Wikipedia and as I really like the book from Robert Nathan and there was no article about it on the english wikipedia I decided to create it. In my opinion this book really worth an article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chmoul (talkcontribs)
I recommend you make that page first before you do the disambiguation. Versus22 talk 20:41, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
