Disambiguation link notification for September 3
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Manitoba First, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Steven Fletcher (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Reassessments
Hey Username6892! Just so you're aware there is an agreement among USRD editors that if you improve an article up to the next class, you can reassess it yourself up to C-Class. Re-assessing to B-Class should have another set of eyes on it. Don't worry if the article isn't that long or if there is a stub template at the bottom. If there are two of the Big 3 sections, you can bump it to Start-Class. –Fredddie™ 00:15, 10 April 2020 (UTC)

Some highway article thoughts
I'm not in favor of adding that fancy AADT table to articles in general. I think it's filler and useless. Yes, I add AADT information to the prose of an article to give some context and answer the question "who?" as in "who uses the highway?". I find adding the table to article with 1948 data to be more problematic because then I have to ask "why is 1948 significant?" or "why was that year specifically picked?" When the answer is "because we have a source for that year and not others", then the table is really useless.
You've also added a lot of map citations, but you're using the wrong template. Instead of {{cite web}}, you should be using {{cite map}} and including the scale (or |scale=Scale not given
as appropriate). You shouldn't be using |website=Wisconsin Historical Society
because the WHS is a republisher, not the original publisher. Putting it in the context as you have implies that they published the original maps, but they didn't. Instead, use |via=Wisconsin Historical Society
so that we properly indicate that these maps are being made available online via the WHS, but that they didn't publish them. Imzadi 1979 → 16:08, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

Re: your pings
I saw your pings. With regard to the first diff you showed me about the page being protected, yeah I'm aware that that editor is making false accusations...but I'm not really sure what I can do about it. As for me starting something on the COI noticeboard, the issue is that nothing can be proved right? Like statistically it's obvious that totally fishy things are going on. But I'm not sure that the admins can punish any individual because of statistically very likely facts. I'm open to your advice. I'm not actually very experienced with the technical side of Wikipedia, my edits are all mainly related to enclyopedia side of things. I did warn one user for COI because it seems to have been definitively proven he edited with a COI (as far as I can tell). But I don't think he'll try to edit again now. Thanks for being a sane voice of reason. Apples&Manzanas (talk) 02:51, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
- Apples&Manzanas, this is my first time dealing with this in an AfD, so I'm pretty inexperienced too. The only COI I've ever dealt with was such obvious sockpuppetry that an IP opened an SPI (I had to move it to WP-space on their behalf) instead. I'll probably wait a while before I would do it, simply because I want a break from that particular thing. As for me being a "sane voice", I was (and still am) seriously considering giving another editor a barnstar due to their civility on the AfD. Username6892 03:11, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, I see, unfortunately there's not much that can be done. Having so many editors spam "keep" or "delete" without any reference to policy does wreck an AFD. I just hope the closing admin reads everything carefully. Apples&Manzanas (talk) 03:34, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

Dan arndt (talk) 03:19, 6 July 2020 (UTC)About the Al Cannon page
Why does a reliable source need to report on it when it’s a government website that I keep citing? JTW1998+ (talk) 19:38, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- JTW1998+, that source is a database of Candidate Expenditures. Wikipedia normally doesn't report on what a candidate spends $500 on unless it is reported on by reliable news sources which show significant coverage. Username6892 19:42, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
Okay that’s valid I should not have put it in the article itself. But shouldn’t the expenditure itself be enough to warrant that the article be marked for deletion? JTW1998+ (talk) 19:44, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- JTW1998+, Paid articles are generally deleted because
- The user who created it was already blocked/banned
- The subject isn't notable
- It is promotional in nature and there is no salvageable text
- In this case, there is no proof the editor was banned, the sources provide notability, and there is lots of good text in the article. I'm pretty sure there isn't a "delete/revert undisclosed paid contribs" policy, but if there is, please show me! Username6892 19:52, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi there - the page on sergio cabral had been defaced with homophobic slurs and I had removed them. However, you reverted my change. Perhaps it would have been best if I had instead reverted the offending changes instead of undoing them? Can you help? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.157.170.174 (talk) 19:40, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
- The addition in your second edit made it seem as though you were adding "convicted" without much sourcing. Now that I've read it, I think conviction should be mentioned after the things the person did (More of an MOS issue than what I cited). As for the first edit, the anti-vandalism tool I use reverts all the edits a user made, so that edit got caught up in the reversion. Username6892 19:50, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
DYK for Physical (Dua Lipa song)
On 27 July 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Physical (Dua Lipa song), which you recently nominated. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Physical (Dua Lipa song). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Haymarket Martyr's Monument Time Capsule
I had corrected the references to the urn that was thought to be a time capsule but you reverted it back to the erroneous report that the time capsule was discovered. Please read all the articles related to it and you will see that the earlier reports were incorrect by assuming it was the time capsule discovered. More recent articles reveal the truth. DYK for Milton (electoral district)
On 4 August 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Milton (electoral district), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. For your recent work on Erin O'Toole. Thanks for taking the time to update and expand this now very important article. AleatoryPonderings (talk) 15:33, 26 August 2020 (UTC) |
- Thanks for the barnstar! I'd like to expand the political positions more, but I think I'll have to wait until the election when more policies are unvwiled. I'm thinking of a possible GA push, though I'd probably have to see if he becomes PM before trying to go that far. Username6892 15:53, 26 August 2020 (UTC)

WikiCup 2020 September newsletter
The fourth round of the competition has finished, with 865 points being required to qualify for the final round, nearly twice as many points as last year. It was a hotly competitive round with two contestants with 598 and 605 points being eliminated, and all but two of the contestants who reached the final round having achieved an FA during the round. The highest scorers were
- Bloom6132, with 1478 points gained mainly from 5 featured lists, 12 DYKs and 63 in the news items;
- HaEr48 with 1318 points gained mainly from 2 featured articles, 5 good articles and 8 DYKs;
- Lee Vilenski with 1201 points mainly gained from 2 featured articles and 10 good articles.
Between them, contestants achieved 14 featured articles, 14 featured lists, 2 featured pictures, 87 good articles, 90 DYK entries, 75 ITN entries, 95 featured article candidate reviews and 81 good article reviews. Congratulations to all who participated! It was a generally high-scoring and productive round and I think we can expect a highly competitive finish to the competition.
Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. COVID-19 pandemic in Ontario - Update
Besides updating the statistics for the page, what else do you think needs updating on the page for COVID-19 pandemic in Ontario? CaffeinAddict (talk) 18:00, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
- CaffeinAddict, the recent surge in cases is not included in the prose either. Given that the premier made an announcement about it today (and that cases have nearly tripled from the lows in early August), I think it is important to mention. Username6892 18:30, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
I thought it should wait for what is considered a two week trend which is why I was holding off, but I agree. CaffeinAddict (talk) 20:23, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I saw your message and removal - If you have an interest you appear to have met the requirements so why not [sign up]? It doesn't matter if you just do the odd one, a few a month, or a few a day the project needs more reviewers to help, even if it's just mostly declining the junk, spam, copy-vios. Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 08:55, 7 September 2020 (UTC)
- KylieTastic, I don't believe I meet the requirements yet, though I have set up a user subpage to gain experience in reviewing articles before applying. As for when I do apply, it'll probably depend on how busy I am (the school year is starting) and how confident I am. Username6892 22:05, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
Hi, confidence can be a requirement to tackle the borderline submissions but there are always lots than any editor with a good basic understanding of the guidelines can do, and with experience comes more confidence. Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Participants says the requirements are:
- "account at least 90 days old" yours is over a year and a half
- "a minimum of 500 undeleted edits to articles" you have 3,170 more than six times
- "experience in areas such as CSD/AfD/PROD or page curation" User:Username6892/CSD log (but more would be good); [1] (but more would be good) (but I don't have a huge number either); User:Username6892/PROD log (but more would be good); 25 articles created
- So technically I would say you are eligible (IMHO) - so if/when you feel like you would like to help, as your edit to my talk page and you subpage suggests you are, and you have the time (school/real-life should be the priority) please do apply. It's completely up to you, no pressure, but I just wanted you to know as far as I'm concerned you meet the requirements and your work so far shows a good considered attitude to editing. Keep up the good work. Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 15:17, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
