Patrick Korir

[edit]

Some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Patrick Korir may not be sufficiently well-known to merit articles of their own. The Wikipedia community welcomes newcomers. On Wikipedia, all users are entitled to a user page in which they can describe themselves, and this article's content may be incorporated into that page. However, to merit inclusion in the encyclopedia proper, a subject must be notable, with reference to reliable published sources. We encourage you to write or improve articles on notable subjects. -- Merope 16:47, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Paul Kihara Waiganjo

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Paul Kihara Waiganjo requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. LAAFan 16:01, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Patrick Osiako.jpg

[edit]
File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Patrick Osiako.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:05, 12 August 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 22:05, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Tipkorir,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Girth Summit and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Oliver Maloba, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. To prevent the deletion, please add a reference to the article.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Girth Summit}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Hi - just a personal note to follow up on the previous automated message. The article is about a living person, and our BLP policy is quite strict that those must have reliable sourcing - we can't host unsourced articles about living people. If you can't add some reliable sources to it in the next week it will be deleted, although I'd be happy to turn it into a draft for you to work on until you can add sources if you'd prefer. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Speedy deletion nomination of Jonathan Jackson Foundation

[edit]

Hello Tipkorir,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Jonathan Jackson Foundation for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Bensci54 (talk) 17:57, 8 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Whether the subject actually exists isn't relevant to whether or not it's promotional. Wikipedia is a neutral encyclopedia, this article read like a piece of sales literature for the company or part of the company website. I can restore it to a draft version for you to work on, but I see from the other comments on this page that you did that before and you were told that it sounded promotional when you submitted it. Can I suggest that if I do that then you submit it to articles for creation for you to get feedback again, and that you try to address any feedback before moving it to mainspace - if you don't then it's likely to get deleted again.
Also are you affiliated with this organisation in any way, or did they pay you to write a Wikipedia page about them? If so then you need to read the pages on conflicts of interest and paid editing disclosure. Hut 8.5 08:46, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Arap Marindich

[edit]

Hello, Tipkorir, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username Dial911, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Arap Marindich, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Arap Marindich.

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Dial911}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

@Dial911: your comments are very well received, and I appreciate the notes. I understand the concern of whether the page is suitable for Wikipedia or not, but Arap Marindich has suddenly become a hit in news rooms due to his skits leading to several articles on him due to a new found notability. That informed the need to create his page. Let me see how best to re-work it to save it from an ultimate deletion. Tipkorir (talk) 06:10, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Kidnapped (2017 film), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) ke.opera.news

[edit]

Hi Tipkorir, thank you for your contributions! I just wanted to give you a heads-up about the website ke.opera.news, since I saw that you used it as a source a few days ago. ke.opera.news looks like a good source on the surface, but together with ng.opera.news, gh.opera.news, za.opera.news, and ci.opera.news, it belongs to a family of news platforms where contributors can register and submit articles, but there is no actual fact checking or editorial oversight (they have a disclaimer saying "Any/all written content and images displayed are provided by the blogger/author, appear herein as submitted by the blogger/author and are unedited by Opera News.") This means that the site counts as a self-published source, and is not useful as a source in Wikipedia. Wikipedia's criteria for reliable sources, especially for biographies, are pretty strict, and any website where people can sign up and publish information is generally not a reliable source – that includes Wikipedia itself! Hi Tipkorir, the easiest way of doing this is to go to the Talk page of the article in question, and copy the Biography template - {{WikiProject Biography}} - into the top of the page. There is further information available at Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography, but just pasting in the template will get the article into the Wikiproject, where others can see it's been added and will help expand the article. A tag has been placed on Ronny Kagunzi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:19, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
