Proposed Coat of Arms of the Republic of Macedonia

[edit]

Dear Ssolbergj,

I am a heraldic artist from the Republic of Macedonia and I would like to ask You not to revert my changes regarding the proposed Coat of Arms of the Republic of Macedonia. The Coat of Arms I am adding is THE proposed design, while the one You are is just your rendition of it.

Best regards, (Хипокамп (talk) 13:13, 18 May 2015 (UTC))[reply]

Proposing CoA of Italy

[edit]

As you know, Italy doesn't have a coat of arms since it has an emblem.

I think you can create in your CoAseries an Italian one, inspired by the Stella d'Italia: gueules, a mullet argent. (maybe like this I found)

This is only an advice!

Speedy deletion nomination of List of tallest buildings in the European Union/photograph

[edit]

Hello Ssolbergj,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged List of tallest buildings in the European Union/photograph for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. ubiquity (talk) 21:41, 29 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Before I begin, I would like to state that I do not wish to get into any kind of argument, I would just like to talk peacefully about this.

I spent a great deal of time creating a new template for the states of Germany, positioning the state names and adjusting the image size to an appropriate ratio was a great deal of work. I was also complimented by a couple of users and friends and colleagues of mine who saw my work. My reasoning for this revision was as follows:
1. The complex font used on the old template was difficult to read when compared to the default font.
2. The old font did not look very "clean".
3. The new design provided consistency with the templates for other German state templates (German Empire, Weimar Republic, etc.).
4. The new design matched the template used on German Wikipedia for the states of Germany and also other templates on various language Wikipedias for administrative divisions of other countries.
5. The flags of the states were used instead of the coat of arms as the flags are far more recognisable (especially to people outside of Germany) and this gave consistency with the German version and versions of past German nations.

In my personal opinion, the new design was aesthetically superior to the original design primarily due to the map and template design that is consistent with other template maps. I would like to discuss the possibility of returning to my design (if consensus is necessary, I am happy to do so). I do not wish to enter into an edit war or another kind of conflict. Thanks. File permission problem with File:Euforkongo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Euforkongo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. [edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Template:Coat of arms. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.  Sandstein  20:42, 28 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.

Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you.

Given that you've been editing here for quite some time, and have a significant number of edits, I'm concerned that you are adding copyrighted content to wikipedia. I hope this is a one time issue, and not something that has been going on for some time? TDL (talk) 17:21, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The content was written by me, but of course I'll add a reference to the public website describing this new police network. This is not "copyvio" at all IMO. - Ssolbergj (talk) 17:34, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Do we have to go through this line-by-line? You literally performed a straight word-for-word copy-paste job from the source. That is a copyvio.

History

In 2012(eg) at a fugitives conference attended by 24 national fugitive teams of the European Union, a motion was put forward to create a European network of national fugitive teams, named ENFAST. This motion was adopted by the European Council on 1st of January 2013. The Belgian FAST took on the first Presidency for a two-year period (2013-2014). The German FAST is currently continuing the project under its Presidency for another two years (2015-2016) after which the Dutch FAST will take over the Presidency (2017-2018), ensuring the continuity of the project.

It's simply not believable that you independently wrote this identical text to the source. Some if this was subsequently removed, but my spotcheck revealed that some copyvio content remained. Please do not restore. TDL (talk) 21:35, 26 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

What i actually wrote, my last edit before you reverted:

The European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams (ENFAST) is a network of national police organisations tasked with locating and arresting fugitives. This initiative was launched in 2012 to facilitate the tracing and arresting of internationally wanted criminals who have committed serious crimes. ENFAST is funded by the European Union's programme for the Prevention of and Fight against Crime (ISEC).[1]

The network is facilitated by the Europol's Platform for Experts (EPE). Europol also maintains a list of Europe’s Most Wanted Fugitives (EMWL), akin to the list of ten most wanted fugitives published by the American Federal Bureau of Investigation.[2] In 2016 Europol arranged an online 'Christmas calendar' of wanted fugitives, which lead to three arrests.[3]

This is what I wrote and it is not copyvio. Do you agree? Please reinsert it and stop claiming it is copyvio - because it isn't. - Ssolbergj (talk) 10:04, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The copyvio text I linked above was added by by your account. Copyvio content cannot be added to the project, even if you plan to subsequently remove it. Wikipedia publishes the entire history of the article, hence even past revisions, which contain copyvios, are still published and expose the project (and yourself personally) to legal liability.
And no, the last revision of what you added still retained residual copyvios, for instance the word for word plagiarized sentence frgements below.

PESCO / Main article

[edit]

Hey Ssolbergj,

I don't think that CSDP is the main article for PESCO. The linked section does not provide significantly more information, like PESCO projects and nations participation in them (I'm currently writing that). Instead I would like to see a dedicated new page for PESCO, since there will probably be a number of new projects and missions with the PESCO badge that will require more space and sections. PESCO is a project linked to CSDP but not sufficiently close enough to be in the same article. Haage42 (talk) 21:14, 17 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. PESCO is based on a separate article in the EU treaty, and as such I think it's currently more appropriate to have CSDP as PESCO's main page than that of Enhanced cooperation. I do however agree that a new, separate PESCO article is a good idea. The articles Military of the European Union and CSDP have a significant degree of overlapping scope, and this may need to be sorted out, but maybe existing intergovernmental bodies like the European Air Transport Command will be incorporated in PESCO - and that may give some organisational clarity. In any case; the CSDP's article is in quite a bad state and needs improvement - and perhaps that should be given priority over creating additional articles. - Ssolbergj (talk) 21:54, 17 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, just wanted to say good work on getting that new article set up and running. I was thinking I ought to do it myself when I noticed you'd already got started on it the other day and it seems you've already got most of what I was thinking about. Quick work, and great to see you're still super active on here. Have a good day.- J.Logan`t: 16:16, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, happy brexit and happy new year! Good to see that you're back. I have had relatively long wikibreaks myself, but this time I though it was worth writing about the apparent CSDP breakthrough, although the Daily Telegraph could be right that the MCPP remains a mere call centre, and maybe the only EU develops only 15 % of NATO's present capabilities before the UK rejoins in 15 years and spoils the party. Hopefully though, Macron's parliament ratifies the Treaty establishing the European Defence Community and creates the European army overnight. The MCPP article was actually already created, but under a different name and without any links or categories: [3]
Your contributions on brexit were also really needed; Impact of Brexit on the European Union is an excellent article. - Ssolbergj (talk) 15:38, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Image map

[edit]

Hello. You are the creator of Template:EU imagemap. I want to create an image map using File:LimassolDistrict (1).png. I know how to do it. The problem is to have the coordinates of each place. I am using polygons but is too difficult and need a lot of time. And the result is not so good. Is there a way to easy choose the shape of each place and have the coordinates of the place? Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Military of the European Union into Common Security and Defence Policy. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. A tag has been placed on Category:Ground operations of the European Union requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:EADS logo.svg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:EADS logo.svg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Notice

The article Military equipment of the European Union has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The EU doesnt actually have any Military Equipment, the article list national assets so the article could be considered misleading at best

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on International Military Staff requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/topics_64557.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Deputy Chairman of the NATO Military Committee

[edit]

Hey, can you please explain your rational for merging Deputy Chairman of the NATO Military Committee into the Chairman article? Thanks! Garuda28 (talk) 16:15, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Garuda. The reason for this bold merge was that the article is quite small (and gets even smaller when general, duplicated information about the NATO Military Committee is removed), and less significant. I think the content fits quite well in Chairman of the NATO Military Committee. Cheers. - Ssolbergj (talk) 17:37, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for answering! Just wanted to better understand, and I agree with you. Garuda28 (talk) 18:28, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the things that I am having to remove from the Military Units and Formations category are not units/formations, with a commander, headquarters, and a subordinate place in a large organisation, usually an armed service/branch, but entirely separate international military organisations; please consider this category first. Armorial of Australia moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Armorial of Australia, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Coat of Arms of Greece

Hi. Thanks. I would like to contribute, but Philly boy92 tends to revert my edits in that article, which I don't have time for or appreciate as Philly boy 92 reverts based on his apparent lack of understanding of the difference between a 'governent logo' and what's a coat of arms (including heraldic conventions). - Ssolbergj (talk) 10:04, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ssolbergj. I've returned this to a redirect but improved the targetting. The problem is that it can't be a DAB given the pages which link to it, and there's not enough to split out at the target so WP:NOPAGE applies until/unless a full article is needed. If so, please feel free to revert and expand. Cheers, ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 13:50, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

MfD nomination of Portal:Blu-ray

[edit]

Portal:Blu-ray, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Portal:Blu-ray (2nd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Portal:Blu-ray during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Plantdrew (talk) 17:55, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As the creator of this FL I'm curious if you are trying to single-highhandedly destroy it? This looks nothing like the FL that was promoted and it may need to be demoted, or radically changed (which I would be willing to do)... Pinging the FL delegates @Giants2008, PresN, and The Rambling Man: -Godot13 (talk) 07:12, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The list that was featured was about historical seals from 1876 by Louis Prang. The list has been hijacked and the topic completely changed. I plan to undo/revert your changes beginning 9 March 2019 where you copied and pasted the entire FL onto an existing article (and copied the FL promotion template as well). Then I will ask for the redirect from the original article to your article to be reverted.--Godot13 (talk) 17:12, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the article in question was different, and concerned the book State Arms of the Union. I reckon there could be a separate article about that book (armorial/roll of arms). - Ssolbergj (talk) 19:49, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm just now seeing how you slowly took the original article/list and renamed it once then cut and pasted it into another article and made a redirect. Any you gave the end article the FL star of the original FL... If this isn't fixed within a week, I'll start a case at ANI. There is no way this is acceptable behavior. I need to see if it rises to the level of Wikipedia:Plagiarism as well.--Godot13 (talk) 21:39, 5 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia's content is all free license, so the point about plagiarism is not relevant. I'm not intentending to 'steal' or 'undermine' anyone's content or featured article status. I think both the historical article you created and the one displaying the current collection of arms may exist in parallell, the former being the one with featured status. - Ssolbergj (talk) 11:11, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Do you plan to fix the situation or should I seek another remedy?-Godot13 (talk) 17:40, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a link in top of each article. - Ssolbergj (talk) 09:08, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. Undiscussed mass restructuring of Brexit articles

[edit]

Hi Ssolbergj. Today you were on an editing spree, moving a shitload of content from some pages to other pages, all related to Brexit. I think we have managed to revert most of those edits.

There were several issues with your edits. None of your edits were discussed beforehand, and while one can make changes without discussion, the sheer scale of your restructuring means that you should definitely have sought a consensus for your changes beforehand. If you still thinks the changes are an improvement, please propose them and then we can talk about it. But until then, we will stay at our current structure. The second major issue is that you did not provide any attribution whatsoever, when you copied content from one article to another. This is something you of copyright reasons must do when moving content. See WP:CWW.

On a minor point, it would be nice if you gave edit summaries to your edits, so we can see what they are about, and your rationale for performing them. ― Hebsen(previously Heb the best) (talk) 21:25, 11 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Categories emptied without due process

[edit]

In the last two or three days, you have unilaterally without going through the WP:CFD process emptied Category:Formations of the NATO Military Command Structure and Category:Formations of the NATO Military Command Structure 1952–1994, both of which meet WP:CATDEF as categories containing articles whose defining characteristic is that the formations in them are military units and formations. You have attempted to substitute categories on Allied Command Operations and Allied Command transformation, but the formations within those categories do not meet WP:CATDEF - they are not defined by their subordination to ACO and ACT; if NATO was reorganised again, they could be shifted to new commands without changing their essential nature.

In further violation of the due process you then attempted to blank one of the category pages [4] which is *definitely* not the way to go about the process.

Thus I'm sorry to say you have acted in breech of the due process, WP:CfD, and I am calling for administrator action; requesting input from Nick-D, Peacemaker67, and any other administrator with or without military knowledge they might wish to call in..

There's a perfectly good way of nominating categories for deletion, WP:CfD and if you think these categories or others are undesireable, I would encourage you to use it. Buckshot06 (talk) 16:51, 23 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It has to be very frustrating and demoralising when you do all that work [Brexit, Earthworks] only to have it reverted. It was depressing to have to revert it. May I suggest that in future you allow a lot of time for people to see your proposal and comment on it. For one article, a potentially controversial edit needs a week. For something involving multiple articles, a month is not too much as many editors restrict their editing to once a week. Also, it is not enough just to add a hat note that says "it has been proposed" unless there actually is a proposal: it is essential that you write up the reasons why a change should be made. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 16:09, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Non-free use of File:SVT logotype inv.svg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:SVT logotype inv.svg. However, there is a concern that the use of the image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Details of this problem, and which specific criteria that the image may not meet, can be obtained by going to the image description page. If you feel that this image does meet those criteria, please place a note on the image description or talk page explaining why. Do not remove the {{di-fails NFCC}} tag itself.

An administrator will review this file within a few days, and having considered the opinions placed on the image page, may delete it in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion or remove the tag entirely. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jonteemil (talk) 00:17, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:UEFA logo.svg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:UEFA logo.svg.

Thank you.

WP:CATDEF and inaccuracies

[edit]

In this edit and others you've added to a number of articles formations that are sometimes only loosely associated with Allied Command Operations. I would ask you again to cease and desist!! Your new category does not meet WP:CATDEF - they are not intrinsically associated with ACO, as NATO may reorganise (as its done about five times since 1990) and they could easily be shifted into a new command. This is the reason why the category Category:Formations of the NATO Military Command Structure and its subcats exists; the defining characteristic of these entities is that they are NATO military formations. They are intrinsically shiftable betweemn higher formations. 3rd Corps (TU) and some of the others are even less associated because they are part of the NATO Force Structure, not common-funded entities, solely maintained by national funding, not Military Command Structure. Thanks. Jonathan A Jones (talk) 21:37, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Ssolbergj: I am extremely concerned you have been moving/copying content between Escutcheon (heraldry), Coat of Arms, Blazon, escutcheon and Heraldry without appropriate prior planning, discussion and consensus and possibly without appropriate attribution. While you have good faith intent it has been explained previously such levels of moves may be disruptive. As far as I can tell you have been reminded of the need for discussion at [5] by Narky Blert. I am minded this may be an ANI matter but I don't have time to pursue it; nor even to to try to reverse engineer the results of your actions. I will however create a discussion at WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology talk to seek viewpoints there.Djm-leighpark (talk) 21:55, 26 April 2020 (UTC) Content discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology#Multiple page moves/copies without prior discussion.Djm-leighpark (talk) 22:02, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
In examinations closing the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology#Multiple page moves/copies without prior discussion I am minded the start point of this may have been your creation of National heraldic styles ([6]) which was done without attribution; until attributed some hours later by Diannaa who as far as I can tell you did not even bother to thank ... if this was not done you could rightly have been accused of plagiarism 07:27, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Future page moves and creations

[edit]

Please indicate you intend to do the following in future:

  • Ensure content copies/moves are properly attributed per the editing guideline Template:Copying within Wikipedia and ideally the information pages Wikipedia:Splitting and Wikipedia:Merging.
  • In you intent to do moves/copies between a set of pages indicate your plan in a discussion first; possibly at project level. It is quite likely such multiple move/copies will be controversial and backing out can be highly disruptional.

If you do not intend to do these things let me know. If your answer is not straightforward I will take it you have no intention of assigning proper attribution or avoiding disruption through multiple sets of page moves. Thankyou.Djm-leighpark (talk) 07:27, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Coat of arms of Ulster

[edit]

I undid this page move. It really should have been discussed beforehand. The Red Hand symbol is not unique to those coat of arms and is not exclusive to it, with it being used in many different areas and other flags and crests. The Red Hand more than merits its own article, which it had done for 12 years, and it did not suit the article to have so much information that had nothing to do with the crest filling it out. Mabuska (talk) 22:54, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

And to point out as I am the editor who put the hours into researching and writing the bulk of that article... this edit can come across as highly disingenuous as it implies that you did all the work yourself when all you did was cut and paste it from one article to another. This is something you have been notified about for at least 4 years. It gets to a stage when it is simply disruptive behaviour. Mabuska (talk) 16:48, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Armorial of Europe

[edit]

I undid the changes you did this article, it was unneeded and made the page much messier than it needed to be. I'm going to ask that you stop editing the articles in the way you are doing without consulting someone else first. This is not the first time changes you've made have had to be undone, and just looking at your page I can see that you keep doing this despite other telling you to stop. Please stop, you are not doing yourself any favors, and it is extremely exhausting to undo your complete overhauls of articles, especially as they end up being either less informative or of lower quality. Ping 693 (talk) 20:10, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. In fact the article got a lot more information (i.e. more informative), so reverting this without providing any specific reason as to why the overhaul should be reverted simply goes against WP:Bold. -Ssolbergj (talk) 09:53, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I indeed specified why; it was unnecessary and repetitive. You are proving to be a problem user who overhauls articles cause it's not to your personal liking, even though they are already informative. Showing those achievements multiple times in a column is redundant, and if you keep this up I guarantee you other users will start to find ways to block you from editing. Again, we've had to undo massive and unnecessary changes you've made to articles before, don't be a jerk. The same page straight up says not to get upset if your edits are reverted, and here you are doing just that. Ping 693 (talk) 19:32, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I sincerely hope that I will be able to contribute further to constructing Wikipedia, as I have been doing (many thousands of edits and I guess houndreds of original content images on Commons) since 2007. This move to block my user from editing happened after I added some information into an article on 24 December last year on my phone, and unfortunately mixed up what was source text and had not been rewritten as original content (I was quite busy doing other things that day). I'll gladly elaborate. I hope someone here will give me another chance, and I will certainly strive to follow wiki policy. Thank you. - Ssolbergj (talk) 23:35, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

Decline reason:

This request does not demonstrate that you understand WP:COPYVIO. Replaceable fair use File:Tour de France logo (black background).svg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Tour de France logo (black background).svg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vitaium (talk) 11:41, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Original manuscript of Symphony No. 9 by Beethoven

The Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, is a choral symphony, the final complete symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed between 1822 and 1824. It was first performed in Vienna on 7 May 1824. The symphony is regarded by many critics and musicologists as a masterpiece of Western classical music. It is one of the best-known works in common practice music and one of the most frequently performed symphonies worldwide. Symphony No. 9 was the first example of a major composer scoring vocal parts in a symphony. In the 20th century, an instrumental arrangement of the chorus was adopted by the Council of Europe, and later the European Union, as the Anthem of Europe. This photograph displays page 12 of Beethoven's original manuscript and is currently held in the collection of the Berlin State Library.

Manuscript credit: Ludwig van Beethoven
