Wikipedia: Please do not bite the newcomers
Please do not bite the newcomers Understand that newcomers are both necessary for and valuable to the community. By helping newcomers, we can increase the range of knowledge, perspectives, and ideas on Wikipedia, thereby preserving its neutrality and integrity as a resource and ultimately increasing its value. In fact, it has been found that newcomers are responsible for adding the majority of substantive edits, i.e. lasting content; while insiders and administrators are responsible for a large number of total edits, these often involve tweaking, reverting, and rearranging content. Remember, our motto and our invitation to the newcomer is be bold. We have a set of rules, standards, and traditions, but they must not be applied in such a way as to thwart the efforts of newcomers who take that invitation at face value. A newcomer brings a wealth of ideas, creativity and experience from other areas that, current rules and standards aside, have the potential to better our community and Wikipedia as a whole. It may be that the rules and standards need revising or expanding; perhaps what the newcomer is doing "wrong" may ultimately improve Wikipedia. Observe for a while and, if necessary, ask what the newcomer is trying to achieve before concluding that their efforts are wanting or that they are simply "wrong". If a newcomer seems to have made a small mistake, e.g. forgot to put a book title in italics, correct it yourself but do not slam the newcomer. A gentle note on their user page explaining the Wikipedia standard and how to achieve it in the future may prove helpful, as they may be unfamiliar with the norm or merely how to achieve it. Remember, this is a place where anyone may edit and therefore it is each person's responsibility to edit and complement, rather than to criticize or supervise others. If you use bad manners or curse at newcomers, they may decide not to contribute again.

- I gave my views in a neutral manner. It is up to you to interpret. – robertsky (talk) 15:16, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
I wholeheartedly agree with this, and it is particularly true for articles concerning countries where English is not widely spoken, and developing countries. Natives of these countries have as much right to be editing Wikipedia as we do, and yet they have more hurdles to jump than we who have English as our mother tongue and can more easily learn the correct protocols for editing Wikipedia and the tricks of the trade. Thank you for sharing this, it is a valuable reminder. Amirah talk 22:08, 13 March 2021 (UTC)

- @CommanderWaterford: Erm, the article in which the AfD is linked to is the redirect, while to notice is on the recreated page? Are we AfD-ing the redirect or the recreated page? – robertsky (talk) 18:22, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Robertsky, we are AFDing the recreated page. We merged her with great consensus into 2021 Myanmar Protests and now it was created a new article with the same subject (which has been merged) by another Burmese editor. The AfD is kind of heavy controversial - the Burmese Editors want to establish some kind of political martyr of her (in my opinion). CommanderWaterford (talk) 18:27, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

- CommanderWaterford, sigh... personally, i didn't see the need for standalone articles about each individual, but after what I have seen for the Hong Kong protests here on en.wp, standalone articles may be necessary. i know i voted differently for both AfD, but the first I had evaluated on the basis of having additional content after the merge, while the second is a fresh look. also, we are probably on a cusp where standalone pages may be required to tie/consolidate details across multiple pages or reducing content in existing pages via content splits. – robertsky (talk) 20:36, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Robertsky, well we agree to disagree. Wikipedia is getting a lot of critic from outside, even from their co-founders, accusing it of having too many biased political articles. And I don't know if we do us a favour if we are in the future going to publish for each and every victim of a demonstration a separate article with bloody photos. But that's just my 2 cents. CommanderWaterford (talk) 20:41, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Robertsky, have a look please... Talk:Death of Kyal Sin - same story, different subject CommanderWaterford (talk) 09:35, 11 March 2021 (UTC)

Request for your opinion at Commons
Hi Robertsky, I hope you are well. There is a discussion at Wikimedia Commons about the position to take on images from Singapore here: c:Commons:Deletion requests/File:Gan Siow Huang 1.jpg. It is a discussion with significant implications for Singapore-related photos, so I thought it might be of interest to you, and I think your view would benefit the discussion. Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 03:36, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Kohlrabi Pickle: for legal applications, a more learned editor like @Jacklee and Sgconlaw: might be able to help. – robertsky (talk) 03:53, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks Robertsky, I have reached out to him as well. Regardless, none of the others weighing in appear to be lawyers, so even from a policy perspective, I think it would help to have the opinion of a Singapore editor. Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 03:56, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
Edits regarding radio stations
Hi there, apparently radio stations by SPH have been redirected because of lack of independent and verifiable content. Is there any idea how to resolve this so that at least the radio stations can be there? Thanks. TheGreatSG'rean (talk) 17:17, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- TheGreatSG'rean, replied to you at the wikiproject page. would appreciate if you have left a link to wikiproject instead of having to get pinged by editors on their talk pages, i.e. Justanothersgwikieditor. – robertsky (talk) 02:10, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
- My apologies. Will note that when asking questions to many editors. TheGreatSG'rean (talk) 02:21, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
New page reviewer granted
Hi Robertsky. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. signed, Rosguill talk 20:55, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
Birth date vandalism assistance
I've seen that you've done great work with reverting the nonstop amount of birthdate and unsourced height additions added by IPs in Malaysia, as well as finding refs for the correct dates. I've reverted a lot of it myself, but I'd like to ask for your assistance with Qin Lan, as if you look in the history, many IPs have changed her birthdate to several different conflicting years, and I wouldn't know which one is correct. I don't have the expertise to deal with this, and figured you would. Thanks. Waxworker (talk) 15:05, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
- Waxworker, done, and added ref as well. :) – robertsky (talk) 15:33, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you again for your assistance, and your persistance in reverting this stuff. I'd like to ask for your help again, on Liu Tao someone changed her birthdate, but I don't think it's the same guy in Malaysia and the edit seems to have been made in good faith, so I haven't reverted it. I don't know Chinese, hence why I'm asking for your input in finding a source for her birthday. Waxworker (talk) 12:29, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
- Waxworker, no problem. I have updated the article with a ref. – robertsky (talk) 13:35, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

Reversion of my edit
Ouch, I'm so sorry, I should do research! Cheers, Hockeycatcat (talk) 09:28, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
- Hockeycatcat, no worries. Such edits may be seen as vandalism actually at the first glance by many. (This coming from a Chinese person here. Ha!) It is just that I had graduated from the university, so I am aware of the rename, but I did not get around to edit on the main SMU article, assuming others will do it... with references included. – robertsky (talk) 09:38, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
Well, congratulations on your graduation! Someone will probably find a source soon since the rename was recent. Cheers, Hockeycatcat (talk) 09:41, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
- Hockeycatcat, it was a long time ago. haha. I did find a source or two, and have updated the article accordingly. – robertsky (talk) 09:42, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
That's good, hopefully there won't be any more confusion from now on! Cheers, Hockeycatcat (talk) 09:44, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
- Hockeycatcat, it shouldn't now. For a good measure, I have moved the School of Law article page accordingly as well. The article move should hold given the justification. – robertsky (talk) 10:05, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

Removed links under Further Reading
Hi Robertsky, I noticed that you removed links to further reading that I added in entries related to COVID-19 apps. While I agree with your reasoning in some cases (e.g. the links might be too country-specific for the "contact tracing" entry), I do believe that they are very relevant to other entries such as "COVID-19 apps" and "Corona-Warn-App". I also don't think these links violate the guidelines on external links. Could you please explain why do you feel otherwise, so I can better understand how to add/edit such sections? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.181.78.252 (talk) 9:58, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

Article SGP
Am I missing something with the English version of Culture of Singapore? Why was there stuff being removed constantly, because in other languages it seems like there's no problem. It seems like the German version hasn't existed yet so I am planning on creating one. I am willing to translate to my native language, but which version? One has much less information than the other. It would seem weird if one language has more information than the other, especially since English is considered the language that most people understands. Thanks. BrandenburgWatch (talk) 18:15, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
- BrandenburgWatch, The version is currently being removed is because it was done by someone with a Long-term abuse case. And per point 4 in WP:ROLLBACKUSE, other editors have the right to revert these changes, that is until someone comes along and vet through every single change that was made. I won't say that it must be an established editor doing the review, but established reputation on the site helps in staking the vetting process and outcome, this is especially when we are dealing with new accounts trying to circumvent the LTA blocks and reverts. Content on sister wikipedias does not concern us. In fact, there are countless of articles in other languages with more information than in English. Being someone who understands different languages and peruse sister projects for information/content/references, I can offer countless of such example in different languages. If you feel that that version is what you want to translate with, feel free to do for your wikipedia project. You just need to peg to the specific revision ID in your translation attribution. – robertsky (talk) 18:28, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks Robertsky. Is that version in English just kaput then? What if that version was mostly translated into another language, which means that such content that was removed in the English version exists in another language Wikipedia. Would it still be forbidden or against the rules to have it in English? When I first saw it, I did not see anything particularly abusive, and realized that a lot of research time could had been saved. I also assume the reason that it was also being removed when I tried to save it was because I'm not an established editor on English Wikipedia. Your userpage seems to show that you're from Singapore, so I'd say you know more about Singapore culture than I do. I can't really confirm any subtle inaccuracies as I'm not native, but there was quite a date gap between when it was first introduced and then removed, so it must had been quite accurate at least from my perspective. BrandenburgWatch (talk) 19:04, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
- BrandenburgWatch, I cannot say for sure, since I am choosing not to review the changes as they are for now. I have other fish to fry. – robertsky (talk) 20:00, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Remove MP from postnominal title
Hello Robertsky, would you be able to help me remove 'MP' from all our politicians' pages with AWB when you have the time? 'MP' is not a postnominal and merely a position, and I wish to standardise the pages like those belonging to that of British politicians, who don't have 'MP' as part of their name. Thank you. Seloloving (talk) 00:39, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
- Seloloving, sure. i will look into that if there's no one else beating me to it. <( ̄︶ ̄)> – robertsky (talk) 00:41, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you! That would be greatly appreciated. I considered doing it myself manually, but there are so many pages.... :( Seloloving (talk) 00:42, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hmm "and I wish to standardise the pages like those belonging to that of British politicians, who don't have 'MP' as part of their name"--that assertion is quite untrue though, just look at Boris Johnson for example. Many others here too. Per Member of Parliament (United Kingdom)#Title: "Members of Parliament are entitled to use the post nominal title MP." But I have no idea what's technically the case for us here in SG. Kingoflettuce (talk) 12:53, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
- Kingoflettuce, iirc, LKY did away with some formalities such as honorifics when he and PAP took over the governance of Singapore. There is no mentions of entitlements in the Standing Orders of Singapore Parliament about the usage of post nominals (and pre nominals for the matter of fact. I would have done away with 'The Honourable' as well if not for a prior conversation somewhere on Wikipedia). – robertsky (talk) 13:22, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
- Good on LKY, ha. I do vaguely recall that "prior conversation" but can't really remember where it is. And I believe someone pointed out that 'The Honourable' is technically used (or usable?) here. Wonder if the same source that person referenced also mentions the "MP" issue. Kingoflettuce (talk) 13:25, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

- In Singapore, our postnominals are only those from the list of Singaporean orders and decorations. There's no source that our MPs use 'MP' as a postnominal title, and barring a source, I daresay we should not adopt it, like the case of the 'The Right Honourable' title (though 'The Honourable' is definitely confirmed as being used). That say, I admit I could have checked better on more pages as those pages I checked then did not have the MP title, strangely enough, and that's my lapse.
- In any case, great thanks, robertsky, if a source does turn up that our MPs are entitled to the title as a postnominal, I will take the responsibility. Seloloving (talk) 13:24, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Their names from page 9 on and every award after have the post-nominal for those who have already received such a decoration; ie "Mr Tng Kay Lim, BBM" or "Mr Tan Ee Tiong, PBM". Some incorrect content about Sambhaji
First you tell me what souce you used to write this some incorrect information about the great king Sambhaji. There are very few nonsence books/writers who at one side doing defamation of Sambhaji while stating about his contribution and bravery on other side. How much this is logical you think. You just took the summery of these books and content of some distorted writers right. So there huge number of books who describes the real sambhaji which is proof of this that The true story is Sambhaji was an ideal king who didn't have any bad addiction and was a symbol for bravery and patriotism which he shown in his sacrifice. He was a great king that's how he managed to defeat Aurangzeb Right? How a king who is badly addicted can manage this? And why Shehenshah of Hindustan Aurangzeb can be so desperate to capture like such King which is coloured by some distorted writer? Use simple logic. Sambhaji is a god for many people so stop his defamation. Swarajya History.. (talk) 04:04, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
- Swarajya History.., check your facts before you shoot from your hips. I didn't edit on the article directly itself. I have no idea what you are talking about here. If you think your material should be on the article, suggest the changes with sources included. Your last edit on the Talk page, right now to others, it is just a piece of original research with no backing. – robertsky (talk) 04:46, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
It looks as Some unrealistic events and Defamation about sambhaji made on Wikipedia is based on the articles of some distorted writers. Is that before publishing it on Wikipedia Google don't validate the articles? Because in your links there are many references which you have given tells the real story about Sambhaji. I am from Sambhaji's Land and know the true facts however I can provide you the references from government site but those are in Marathi language, will that work? Swarajya History.. (talk) 10:01, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
- Swarajya History.., suggest your edits with your references in the article's talk page. References in other languages are fine. I routinely use Chinese sources for Chinese subjects on here as well. However to assist non-native speakers here who will be reviewing your edits, do provide some translations of the supporting text from the sources. – robertsky (talk) 05:34, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

Thomasian Welcome Walk
Hi! I am bit confused to what just happened with the article. I was waiting for it to be moved to a separate article, but it just became a redirect? May I know the reason why? I have edited it significantly and I believe that publication of the article is warranted. Thank you! Pampi1010 (talk) 17:02, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
- Pampi1010, rather to lose the history of the original article and your draft, I proposed a history merge of the draft into the redirect. An admin carried out the histmerge, and I have just cleaned the submission. – robertsky (talk) 23:30, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

Draft:Edobong Enobong Akpabio
Hello – robertsky The draft I moved ie Enobong Akoabio was a mistake I was trying to move a draft from draftspace not my sandbox I am infact trying to delete the article. I can't seem to find the move draft from draftspace to mainspace or for review. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zend2020 (talk • contribs)

Request on 16:52:04, 20 June 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by MarcAnder79
- MarcAnder79 (talk · contribs)
Hello, this submission has already gone through three revisions, and your objection has not been made by anyone before. Could you please specify which statement you consider inappropriate and which sources - they are all neutral third party sources - are not correct? Thank you for an answer as precise as possible. MarcAnder79 (talk) 13:37, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
MarcAnder79 (talk) 16:52, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- MarcAnder79, 'Exhibitions, Screenings, Installations (selection)' should be removed, see WP:NOTDIR. Also the source is primary source. I don't see the relevance of Quotes section, it comes across as a promotional/puffery section. There are some formatting work that needs to be done for Monographs, Catalogs (selection), Web Links, and Standard Data sections. However, those are minor stuff which we can worry about when the article gets published to the main space. The notability should be reflected in prose in the currently Biography/Work sections. The text seems to support it, however it does require some additional in-line citations, which I will tag accordingly. – robertsky (talk) 21:10, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for your hints and comments, I think the noted passages are now all provided with reliable sources. Regarding "Exhibitions, Screenings, Installations": these are an indispensable part of a lexical artist article (compare other artist articles, for example on Sebastiao Salgado) that reflects the notability of the artist. An artist exhibition is not to be confused with a fair exhibition. It is an extension of the artistic work into the public sphere and, along with printed publications and digital presence, the most important medium for connecting the artistic work with the public. At the request of your colleague Ken Tony, I have sourced all the exhibition venues. I have also shortened the list. Many thanks.MarcAnder79 (talk) 12:56, 25 June 2021 (UTC)

Andreas Müller-Pohle
Dear Robertsky, (sorry posted this reply on my Talk page..copying here) Please check the history of Andreas Müller-Pohle Talk page. I tagged it with WikiProject Biography, WikiProject Germany, WikiProject Photography / History. I did not rate it in any of those WikiProjects. KylieTastic has edited it but doesn't appear to have rated it either. There was apparently what must have been a Draft of this page created by the red-linked MarcAnder79 on 9 June (seen in the Talk and Article histories) but that draft didn't come up in my search on 26 June in creating the page from translations from the German and French. MarcAnder79's draft must since been deleted since there is nothing but what I uploaded on the entry. This is weird and very confusing. Jamesmcardle(talk) 11:17, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
@Jamesmcardle: the history of the draft has since merged into the article. You can look for the draft in the history of the article. – robertsky (talk) 11:28, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
@Robertsky: I was just responding to your message "Hi, I'm Robertsky. I wanted to let you know that I saw the page you reviewed, Andreas Müller-Pohle, and have marked it as unreviewed. If you have any questions, please ask them on my talk page. Thank you." which puzzled me because I have not rated Andreas Müller-Pohle - where does it show I had? I tagged only.Jamesmcardle(talk) 11:34, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
- Jamesmcardle, oh that. that's because you've autopatrolled permission, which automatically marks any unreviewed article as reviewed. – robertsky (talk) 13:27, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
Maxim's Caterers
Hi – robertsky,
Thanks for your feedback. Can you suggest changes to make my contribution to this article more neutral? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maxim's_Caterers#Controversies
I used independent sources and was not promoting any content at all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marjoriepedrozo (talk • contribs)
- @Marjoriepedrozo: The main source of your edit that drives the main point is the website https://www.maximscruelty.com/, which is Equitas Global related website. Equitas Global is known to create such websites and pushing its content on Wikipedia in such manner. – robertsky (talk) 02:21, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Robertsky: Your feedback was that I was promoting Maxim's Caterers, which I was not. In this case, I will delete the website https://www.maximscruelty.com/ and just have it as a reference, as it shows how the company is being criticized. Besides that, do you have any tips on how to sound more neutral? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marjoriepedrozo (talk • contribs)
- @Marjoriepedrozo: I am saying that the website is not a reliable reference. Find other third-party, reliable, and independent sources reporting on the animal abuse first. Otherwise, the section will removed for not having proper sources to back the criticism/claims up. – robertsky (talk) 02:35, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
About Vintage Camera Museum
Hi, you recently Draftified Vintage Camera Museum for COI. I was the one who accepted it from AfC. I'm relatively new to reviewing AfC and I want to learn from my mistakes. Would you mind letting me know how you could tell / why you thought it's a COI? Because the draft didn't come off that way to me at all. Thanks! Mcguy15 (talk, contribs) 14:36, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
- Mcguy15, it is all good. you will get the hang of it. there are a few signs. First are the references. Initial version is mostly bare urls, and if we consider them as references, a form of refbombing. Next is the name of the author of the draft. It is a partial match of the name of the co-owner founder, which can be found in the references. Some Indians have a long first name, and would shorten their names to either an initial, or just taking the one or a couple of the first few syllabus in the first name for the ease of others to call them. – robertsky (talk) 16:13, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you! I've never thought to check usernames against founders' names and not just the company. I will try to do this going forward! Mcguy15 (talk, contribs) 16:59, 5 July 2021 (UTC)

You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect

Draft:Jacky Liew (Si Gongzi)
Dear Rovertsky, hi. Great to meet you. I would like to explain the page that i submit for review, for the Draft:Jacky Liew (Si Gongzi) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Jacky_Liew_(Si_Gongzi)) It was translated from the Chinese version (https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%BB%96%E5%9F%8E%E5%85%B0) which has been verified that the person has the notability and provided with Chinese reference. If you find that there are something need to be delete, kindly provide me some guidance for me to have amendment and resubmit again. Thank you.
Patricialiew (talk) 15:33, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- Patricialiew, the standards on en.wiki and zh.wiki are different. The sources are lacking for en.wiki. FENG_MIAN_complete.pdf is a Master dissertation, which are usually not peer reviewed and considered as student work. 'The Food Critics Master' is a self-published source, noting that he is the author. Find another source to back up the assertion of 'well-known food critic and author'. So is 'True Nyonya Malacca'. Celebrate the festival with supreme ruler of Negeri Sembilan does not indicate that he was granted with the honours in 2008. Also, it is a self-published source, given that he is the author of the article. Find another source. 'List of Excellence Paper Awards of China International Conference' source is partial, the only page with him mentioned is a recipe under his name, and a list of awards given. This source when seen as it is, does not support the assertion of when and what he received at the China International Symposium. Also what symposium is this? The title of the event is too generic. The only one source with somewhat supporting his notability is 'Buku panduan telefon masyarakat Cina'. However, this is at most a state-wide recognition (assuming Kluang can somewhat represent the whole of JB), not nation-wide recognition. – robertsky (talk) 17:47, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- – robertsky, thank you for reply, if that i could not find the english version of sources and i deleted the most of the above things, can it be pass, to consider as the translation of the page.
Patricialiew (talk) 20:21, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- Patricialiew, no. if there is nothing to support the notability of the person per WP:BIO guidelines, the article should not be published into mainspace. If you do so, there are risks that it will either be moved back into draftspace, or be nominated to be deleted. Also, there is a concern which I have not raised yet, conflict of interest. What is your connection to the subject, given that you and him share the same surname? – robertsky (talk) 02:01, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
- – robertsky you mean that if the English reference does not prove notability, even the chinese can prove it, then the notability cannot be proven? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Patricialiew (talk • contribs)
- @Patricialiew: er. your question is a bit vague. Let me rephrase into a couple of possible questions and answer them:
- Question: Can the English article survive without references even when the Chinese article there? Answer: No. We cannot cite en.wiki or for the matter of fact, any wikis as they are considered as user-generated sources.
- Question: Must I only use English references? Answer: No. You can use references from any languages, as long as they can be verified by another editor.
- Do any of the above answer your question? – robertsky (talk) 08:53, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
- – robertsky hi, thank you for your reply. I would like to ask if i found some newspapers and was reported that he is the famous food critic. and i amend the wikipedia by focusing that he is the writer and foodcritic. Is it is sufficient to prove notability? Furthermore, the https://archive.org/details/20200611_20200611_0939/4%E7%99%BE%E5%B9%B4%E5%90%8D%E4%BA%BA%E5%BD%953%20%282%29.jpg able to prove his life time story as this is the editor by some other author
Patricialiew (talk) 14:35, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
- Patricialiew, if the sources are of significant coverage about him, yes. As for the archive.org link, first I am wary about profile write-ups in award listings (this is similar to Forbes' 30 under 30 list) as such write-ups are not vetted properly; second I am troubled by the upload of what may possibly a copyrighted material by you into archive.org when its TOS discourages the upload of copyrighted materials. Nonethless, if you think it can be used, go ahead. Do continue to improve on the draft. – robertsky (talk) 20:03, 5 July 2021 (UTC)
Request on 18:54:29, 5 July 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by IyataYada
Naosaku Takahashi is a historical person and was an important figure of social work in Japan, during and after the war, WWII. Unfortunately, his writings and critical evaluations were published in Japanese only. But I (IyataYada) tried to cite the limited literature which is housed in National Diet Library of Japan for reference.
Yes, as you said, he is not a famous in the U.S.A. and other foreign countries. However, is it wrong that I introduce a famous man in Japan to the world in English? Moreover, he is already a historical person. He is dead. But I don't think that his life for the people should be killed in English speaking world. His Japanese version of Wikipedia is as follows: https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%AB%99%E6%A9%8B%E7%9B%B4%E4%BD%9C

draft of Lokesh Chugh
greetings, you have declined the submission of this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Lokesh_Chugh#Page_about_Mr._Lokesh_Chugh%2C_an_eminent_politician_who_is_well_known_for_raising_student_matters._We_look_forward_to_approval_of_the_concerned_page. on what basic grounds i dont know, he being an eminent politician having verified twitter and facebook accounts I think have more than enough credibility for being on a normal information seeking platform for the youth. He will not get harmed in any way for not being on wikipedia, but will affect tremendously the youth who see him as his ideal and approach him to get their grievances solved. so, i request you to tell me what is the reason behind you declining his page.--Muskaan sachdeva (talk) 09:05, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Muskaan sachdeva: same reason as previously commented by another reviewer: for biographies of living people, the references have to be inline with the content, not at the end of the article. – robertsky (talk) 16:47, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
good evning, first of all i have been in regular conversation with him and we reached on a consensus too. next, sub division is already there in the politica life column. only three reference links are there in the end just because they have all three components like personal, professional and political life, so ideally no sub division could be done. but, still if you want me to do sub division please guide me on where to add the three links. i look forward to your response. thank you--Muskaan sachdeva (talk) 17:16, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- Muskaan sachdeva, you should shift the references to the end of the applicable sentences. If the references is to be reused, you can duplicate accordingly. You can read the guide User:Nick Moyes/Easier Referencing for Beginners on the general steps to take. – robertsky (talk) 17:38, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
Another Chinese actress birth date issue
Hey, Zhang Jingchu has had several IP editors change her birthdate without a source and without explanation to several different conflicting dates, and I wouldn't know which is correct. Under 'Early life' a 1977 date is given, but is sourced to 'chinesemov.com' which doesn't seem like a reliable source to me. Thought I'd contact you again about this issue given your diligence in this field. Great work with reverting unsourced stuff (especially the massive amount of unexplained height additions!) on BLPs. hi, which group of users they can move a page to draft?--Reza Amper (talk) 20:01, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- Reza Amper, registered users who are in the autoconfirmed user group can freely move pages. There shouldn't be any other restrictions to move articles pages to the Draft space. I suggest installing and using User:Evad37/MoveToDraft script if you are draftifying articles as it will also send a courtesy message to the article creator among other steps. – robertsky (talk) 20:07, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

In another section of the rules, it says DO NOT say anything that ISN'T published somewhere else. So, I am damned if I do and damned if I don't. Please explain exactly which sentence is the problem.

- DavidJMoss: The text came off promotional as there are direct copy and paste texts from copyrighted sources, from which some sounded promotional. I think you may have missed the part on copyright violations. I suggest rewording as much as possible. i.e. the part which contains text copied from 'Encouraged by veteran...' in [3] onwards needs a rewrite. There is also one more text that is take from the Background section in [4] which I can't make up my mind for now on the copyright status of the text. – robertsky (talk) 19:50, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
I sort of get it. I reread the copyright violations and see that any copyrighted words I put in can then be freely used and copied. which is not good. I will look at the whole thing again. DavidJMoss (talk) 20:01, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
Robertsky, regarding Draft:TobeyCMossGallery I do not see any text copied from 'Encouraged by veteran...' onward in [5]. Are you reading a much older version? Is the version that Spilbrick edited on at 19:31, 9 July 2021 acceptable to you? If that version is acceptable, I am ok with it. If you have a problem with the inclusion of some of the cited references because THEY are copyrighted, I am ok with removing them. Please let me know. DavidJMoss (talk) 22:53, 9 July 2021 (UTC)

Draft Abdullah Sulaiman Al Rajhi
You last reviewed my page and demanded that positions and memberships be in the form of a prose paragraph with chronology And attach sources as much as possible And I actually improved it based on your notice And I think it's ready for your review https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Abdullah_Sulaiman_Al_Rajhi — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elshitaq (talk • contribs)

I have resolved the citations thank you very much I appreciate your help and tell me if there is anything wrong !
birth cert
Re your comment on WP:UAA, "recommend user to reach out to OTRS with birth cert?"
- What would it prove? Having researched my family tree, I could prove that I am any one of my ancestors born from 1840 onwards.
- WP:VRT does not have any means of safely holding, or disposing of, this personal information once it's received.
If you haven't read or seen The Day of the Jackal (book, film), it's a good yarn. The storyline will shake your assumption that a birth certificate proves identity. - Cabayi (talk) 09:51, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

Be aware of this rule, which was told to me. Charliestalnaker (talk) 05:31, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
Your recent editing history at River Valley High School, Singapore shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
@Charliestalnaker: I am more than aware about 3rr. This is more applicable to you than me. – robertsky (talk) 05:37, 20 July 2021 (UTC)

Would taking pictures of his Diplomas constitute reliable sources?
Kieron Taylor (talk) 12:10, 31 July 2021 (UTC)
- Kieron Taylor, that only will establish the fact of him having the diploma(s) but not his notability. instead find third party sources such as newspaper articles, journal entries, etc to back his notability. – robertsky (talk) 12:53, 31 July 2021 (UTC)
Submission of Draft:Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay
The serial has been premired and has notable actors like Mahira Khan, Kubra Khan, Usman Mukhtar. The firat episode of the serial has been released and it received good reviews. Not only the reliable and big newspaper of the country such as Dawn News, The News International wrote about it but Daily Times Pakistan and GalaxyLollywood reviewed it also. So, I thonk the article is notable enough to be published. Phaans (talk) 05:22, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
- Phaans, oh apologies. I missed the part on the premiere date when I was scanning through the article. Can you include a Critical reception section with the reviews you stated above? That should seal the notability aspect of the article. – robertsky (talk) 05:25, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
I have added the added the section of criticla reception with those references of critics take on serial's episodes. Please, rereview it as now it is ready for publishing. Phaans (talk) 05:54, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

Request on 09:51:40, 10 August 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by Tim Isaksson
- Tim Isaksson (talk · contribs)
Hi Robertsky,
Thanks for your speedy review of my re-submitted draft, I appreciate it a lot. However, being new to Wikipedia I'm not quite sure how to proceed based on the feedback you provided. Regarding the reason given for the decline ("This submission reads more like an essay than an encyclopedia article."), I feel that the draft now lives up to summarizing the book (previously the concept, now the book), that it doesn't contain opinions or original research and that the point of view is neutral point, with the text merely describing what the authors argue and what commentators have said about the book. The one thing I suppose could be lacking is reliable secondary sources about the book, but that should hardly be necessary since the draft is now about the book itself and summarizes what is written in the book (i.e. the book itself is the secondary source)?
I would very much appreciate if you could give me some more specific pointers on how to meet the standards.
You also left the comment "Literature review", which leaves me a little bit perplexed. How/what do you mean?
Again, thanks a lot! Tim Isaksson (talk) 09:51, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
Tim Isaksson (talk) 09:51, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
- Tim Isaksson, What I meant was that it read like an literature review of the book and of other sources combined. If it is an entry about the book itself, then a short description of the book + critical review/reception of the book through other notable book reviews/awards or recognition is sufficient. You have expanded on explaining the concepts and details in the books. Like the previous reviewer comment, split these two out, the book and the concepts. – robertsky (talk) 12:45, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Robertsky,
- Ok, I see, thanks for your quick reply. So although the concept of noise is heavily associated with this particular book at this point, the text about the concept could stand on its own feet if I write two articles instead? I.e. even though there will be just one major source (the book) -- at least at the start, before more research comes out and other contributors chip in -- and just a few other minor sources, for example studies (that the book draws upon), that would be OK? As you can tell, I've found the concept's dependence upon this foundational book tricky. I don't see a time-feasible way around the text being heavily dependent on that one source.
- All the best
- Tim Isaksson (talk) 13:09, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
- Tim Isaksson, yes, two articles are fine. as mentioned, the article on the book should have just a short description of the book + critical review/reception and awards/honours. the article on the concept may be harder to get out of the gate if its notability isn't established. from what you described, it seems to be a niche concept for now. you might want to be contend with the book article being accepted first, and return to the concept article in the future if and when there are more sources to rely on. – robertsky (talk) 05:15, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
Draft:Unione Giovani Ebrei d'Italia
Hi I saw you declined my request for an excessively promotional language. Is there any paragraph in particular I should change? Could you clarify your suggestion?Gibbone22 (talk) 02:48, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
- Gibbone22, I will respond directly on the page itself. I suggest not removing the previous submission templates and comments as it would have seem to be a first pass review which most reviewers would not have left comments at all, or little details on how to improve the articles. – robertsky (talk) 02:51, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
Thank you, I'll make sure the previous submissions won't be cancelled. Looking forward for other suggestionsGibbone22 (talk) 03:23, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
Hi, thank you very much for your suggestions. I've modified the draft accordingly, and replied to each point. Is there anything else I could do? I'm a bit confused by the suggestion regarding the paragraph "History". UGEI has done many activities, listing all of them would be an endless work. As an overview those info should be fine, no? Gibbone22 (talk) 16:10, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
- Gibbone22, just the key activities. sounds like you are connected to the organisation. here's a tip, write only those are reported in news and other secondary sources. if you are writing an overview, back them with references. – robertsky (talk) 16:27, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
- Robertsky Hi, so I added more references and more information in general. Do you think the draft is ready to be submitted or should I change something else? And also, if I submit it again, will you be able to review it again? - Gibbone22 (talk) 17:36, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
- Gibbone22, we typically do not review the same draft more than once as we have multiple reviewers looking at each draft. However at a glance, it still looks promotional to me. – robertsky (talk) 04:59, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your help and your changes, I've added other sources and submitted the draft again. Gibbone22 (talk) 01:38, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
Hey, whenever you have a chance, take a peek at the restructuring I did over at Draft:Unione Giovani Ebrei d'Italia. I didn't add any additional sources, but I tried at the very least to make it sound less like an advert. Let me know what you think. Bkissin (talk) 19:15, 13 August 2021 (UTC)

Reason for dismissal due to sources
Draft in question: Draft:UTEC – The University of Tokyo Edge Capital Partners
Could you please explain why my draft with more references than the original language wiki article gets rejected? I'm just trying to create an English wiki page for this company.
https://ja.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%9D%B1%E4%BA%AC%E5%A4%A7%E5%AD%A6%E3%82%A8%E3%83%83%E3%82%B8%E3%82%AD%E3%83%A3%E3%83%94%E3%82%BF%E3%83%AB%E3%83%91%E3%83%BC%E3%83%88%E3%83%8A%E3%83%BC%E3%82%BA Kakka42 (talk) 09:53, 15 August 2021 (UTC)
- Kakka42, a lot of the references in the article are irrelevant or minor when comes to determining the notability of the subject. 1. primary sources are being used, i.e. from the https://www.ut-ec.co.jp/ domain. The slides from ucsd.edu domain is also considered as primary source. Can be use for facts, but doesn't establish notability. 2. GLM source is a primary source. Additionally, a quick scan doesn't seem to reveal that UTEC is an investor. 3. Some of the sources don't mention UTEC directly, or even if so, it is a passing mention. 4. Some sources are press releases, which except for confirmation of facts, doesn't really establish notability required for the article.. What you need is reliable and independent secondary sources. Lastly, the Investment section in the current state looks purely promotional. "Prominent exits" what determined as exits as prominent? Sounds puffy. I think the list can be removed. If you are linking to ja.wiki for some of the entities, use {{Interlanguage link}} template and not directly. – robertsky (talk) 11:03, 15 August 2021 (UTC)
Deleted discussion
Article in question: AUDT Coin
- Hi! What is the reason of deletion my tempate? Vsehmogushiy2 (talk) 12:08, 18 August 2021 (UTC)
- Vsehmogushiy2, that's for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion discussions, not for CSD objections. Difference processes, don't conflate the two. For objecting to CSD, the article talk page is the venue for discussion. The admin checking the article out should be looking the article talk page for any objections before any deletion. – robertsky (talk) 14:44, 18 August 2021 (UTC)
- And what should I do now? Should I make my article better in the draft space without answer again? Vsehmogushiy2 (talk) 16:05, 18 August 2021 (UTC)
- Vsehmogushiy2, yes. that's your best option for now. There will be someone reviewing but it is not immediate, the process can take weeks. Right now, it says about one week. But that's because we just clear a massive backlog and the usual heavyweight reviewers are either taking a break from the review fatigue or slowing down their review output for reasons. – robertsky (talk) 16:48, 18 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi I created the article more than a month ago after a great effort and suffering in order to develop and improve it in order to be eligible for acceptance I have hired some editors to help me on the subject Indeed, as a result of this work, the article was accepted after review And make sure So far, everything is fine and normal But after more than a month, the article was deleted, and I was surprised by this decision, which I see as unjust according to logic Because the article has been reviewed by an expert and has been accepted, which means that it meets all the criteria link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdullah_Bin_Sulaiman_Al_Rajhi — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elshitaq (talk • contribs)

- Elshitaq (and pinging RedX8) After reviewing the edit history of the now new draft and the previous draft, here's what I think of this. The new draft is obviously a cut-and-paste move, by Elshitaq account no less (I will be sorely disappointed, and amused, if you intended for your message here to be posted under RedX8). There was no acceptance by any AfC reviewers. Typically I would have caught such a move early especially that you had blanked the initial draft, but there was a backlog drive ongoing and this have slipped the radar. What MrsSnoozyTurtle did, in my opinion, is within expectations. In the event that you managed to be unblocked and/or work on the subject, do not move the draft or create new article independently, for such content is typically under closer scrutiny after COI or SPI outcomes. – robertsky (talk) 17:24, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

Is there any way that I can make the article with reliable sources and make it look independent as possible? Dragonslay041 (talk) 09:59, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Dragonslay041: At the moment, the article is poorly sourced, with both links essentially the same article. The only way is that you will have to find more articles from independent sources. Press releases published in independent sources are not counted as they are usually republishing materials written by the subject. 11:46, 21 August 2021 (UTC)

Request on 16:51:32, 22 August 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by Paola.ortiz.fr
Hello,
Romain Perrot is an artist and a researcher who works on many different projects. Vomir is only one of them and even if it is his main activity now, i do think that it is more accurate to write an article about him rather than add some informations on Vomir's page.
Would it be possible to reconsider your position on this article?
Thank you in advance,
Paola.ortiz.fr (talk) 16:51, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
@Paola.ortiz.fr: my opinion is that a single article encompassing all his identities is sufficient. An example would be Shirley Temple who was a renowned actress and a diplomat. – robertsky (talk) 01:52, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
@Robertsky: I agree with you, that's why I think an article about someone (Romain Perrot / Shirley Temple) is more appropriate.
Vomir is only a stage name and most of the time he isn't working under this name, so I can't complete Vomir's article. It's like writing an article about a character that Shirley Temple played and speak about her diplomatic work.
Paola.ortiz.fr (talk) 17:56, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
- Paola.ortiz.fr, you can complete the article and then move the page to his actual name. Your account should receive the rights as you edit. Dear @Robertsky:,
I'm not sure whether you will be the one reviewing this article or not, but I wanted to write in any case. Regarding your kind previous help with reviewing my draft article – see the archived discussion here – I have now divided the article into two: one for the book and one for the concept in general. I have also put serious effort into writing in a more encyclopaedic style. Naturally, this overhaul has entailed a lot of re-writing, shortening and restructuring. (And upon publication, I would add the book cover art and get the de-orphan and redirect stuff up and running.) As you and others pointed out, it was worth it! The result is much better and more useful for readers. I really feel like these articles can be of great benefit to people all over the world, and thanks for making that even more true.

Request on 16:21:33, 3 September 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by Captbalbo
Hello there. Thank you for reviewing my entry on Iman Amrani. I am unsure how it reads as an advertisement. It is a collection of information about an influential young British-Algerian journalist who has contributed not only in reporting some of the biggest events in Europe, Latin-America and the UK over the past four years, as well as contributing to a debate about men and mental health in an award winning series. She doesn't do many interviews because for her it's about the work, not her, as is the case of most journalists. I studied other journalists' entries before starting the biography one can be found at this link - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maggie_O%27Kane - and wrote to that template. After your review I have added more external links of other interviews she has done as a result of her most recent work. I am unsure what else to add given that the wealth and diversity of the work she continues to do for the Guardian platform and more recently for Al Jazeera. Any advice most gratefully receivedCaptbalbo (talk) 16:23, 3 September 2021 (UTC) Captbalbo (talk) 16:21, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
- Captbalbo, Maggie O'Kane is precisely one of the articles you should not emulate. There are already maintenance warnings on the page itself, with one stating that it reads like a resume. Draft:Iman Amrani at its present state is similar. I suggest redoing the article from scratch and find independent and reliable references that discuss her work and contribution in depth, rather than references that are her work or simply state 'she has done X' or similar. Then from these references, write about her biography in chronological order. If she is 'best known for' something, 'influential' for something, these will come out naturally the article develops. Putting such terms directly in the article, more often than not comes off as promotional and advertorial. – robertsky (talk) 19:31, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
Hello again. I see what you mean. Thank you for the advice. Maggie O'Kane's wasn't the only one that I accessed as research but I take your point. There aren't a lot of articles commenting Iman's work, as is the case with a lot of young journalists however I see how I should change the structure and the language. Will get to work on that right away. Thanks again Captbalbo (talk) 14:39, 8 September 2021 (UTC)

Wong Cho-lam's birthdate has been changed from 1980 to 1970, and this seems to be an edit made in good faith by an IP editor (doesn't seem related to the ongoing issue with birth date vandalism from Malaysian IP), and I have no way of verifying if the new date is correct. New Page Patrol newsletter September 2021
Hello Robertsky,
Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.
Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.
At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.
There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.
If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.
Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.

3 topics that requires your assist of judgment
Dear User:Robertsky,
This is francabicon here and i would like to seek your assistance of judgement regarding the matter of my edit on three topics:
- Malaysian United Indigenous Party(Current Version)
Here is my edit:https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Malaysian_United_Indigenous_Party&oldid=1053371794
- United Malays National Organisation (Current Version)
Here is my edit:https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=United_Malays_National_Organisation&oldid=105337095
- Malaysian Islamic Party(Current Version)
Here is my edit:
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Malaysian_Islamic_Party&oldid=1053371583
Here is the problem I've edited 3 topics of Ideology, Controversy whit assisted contribution by many members but has been taken down by this User:Amir Noor Muhammad. I repeatedly told the user that if he has any arguments of this topic the user can talk to me about it but the user didn't just not talk to me about it and removed large chunks of our contribution of it which i don't think is fair for the people who had place an effort contribution to the new section of the page. Also adding to the fact that he had many Controversy on this talk page where the many user had criticize him for similar behaviour like that which you may check right over here: User talk:Amir Noor Muhammad.
Also the user had written to ban me from editing with his recent revert. The reason that the user always revert my edit is that "it's not related" "personal not on party lines" which i then replied to him stating that " so long as they are part of the party their political action is related to the party" but the user still insist on reverting.
Hope you understand that i don't mind to be wrong but i would like your best judgment on what you can do to resolve this matter because those topics are with valid links and valid facts. Thank you.
hope to hear frm you soon do talk to me if you do want to know more. User talk:Francabicon

Request for move article
Hello Robertsky. Could you please check Reza Goodary's article? It's WP:N as WP:NKICK (Fighting for WBC and WMC world title). Also references full covered WP:NWSRC. This article seems to deserve a move to WP:Mainspace. Thank you. AriaTess (talk) 08:20, 27 October 2021 (UTC)
- AriaTess, I see that you have moved the article. I don't think it warrant a move back into draftspace, but I will leave it to the other editors who are more familar with the topic to decide and act on if they think otherwise. I didn't review the article primarily due to most of the sources being in Persian, a language which I have no familarity with. Furthermore, it is a BLP topic that I am unfamilar with. I know I have had edited/passed some ONE Championship related BLPs, but they are primarily due to its proximity to Singapore as a topic, and my activities had been more on the non-ONE Championship related information. Cheers! – robertsky (talk) 18:15, 27 October 2021 (UTC)

ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message
Draft:Gamma Delta Epsilon
I'll reach out to the submitter. I'm on Wikiproject Fraternities and I'm familiar with Philippine Fraternities and Sororities. Frankly, the submitter (who probably is a Gamma Delta Epsilon brother, but coming through the Draft Process, it may actually be a good thing) was quite reasonable to include the controversies, it isn't unusual, and may be one of the most likely things to actually be referencable. University of Santo Tomas is the oldest law school in the Philippines going back several centuries. If he can find third party to show membership of both of the Chief Justices of the Philippines, that would be enough on its own, but there are probably others. (And I've *definitely* seen worse drafts)Naraht (talk) 14:50, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
- Naraht, I reviewed based on general policies and guidelines rather than what I see on the other pages relating to Wikiproject Fraternities. Bad news indeed travel faster and wider than the good ones. Nonetheless, if it is possible, do try to balance the article with other positive notable events, e.g. notable fundraising, etc. If you think the draft is good to go though based on whatever standards that Wikiproject Fraternities have, go ahead and pull it to mainspace. – robertsky (talk) 15:41, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
- I very much get that the listing of the controversies looks like an attack... Every once in a while I try to go through all of draftspace looking for fraternities and sororities since I have specialized knowledge. I do want to balance with positive information, the fact that the supreme court justices are members to some degree counts as that. I'm not thrilled with the reference (a pdf) for the history, I'll work with him on that. Frankly, I want it to try to look like Alpha Phi Beta or Sigma RhoNaraht (talk) 16:08, 24 November 2021 (UTC)

My reverts
Hi !
You reverted some of my edits, but your external websites are not foul-proof...
- Jean-Claude Colotti : birth year is 1961, for example on this website where he declared his company here or in this French social network here
- for the others, I took the data on WikiData
--FromZeFild (talk) 19:19, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
- FromZeFild, thanks for reaching out. Agreed that the external websites that are currently on the pages may not be 100% correct. However, they are still the available sources on the articles as it is. It would would be great if you can use the edit summary textbox for each edit you have made to indicate the source of your information, or even adding them as references in the text itself.
- Otherwise, it can be misconstrued that the changes are not well-intention, especially when changes en masse and without comments. Sorry that I reverted some of your edits. However, I had to deal with a couple of vandals before that changed birthdate/year without sources indicated. As for WikiData as a source, unless the birthdate are referenced in there, I suggest that you do not use WikiData, as like Wikipedia, it is also a user-generated content site. – robertsky (talk) 19:27, 2 January 2022 (UTC)

If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. Citing sources
Hi Robertsky, based on your contribution in Goh Jin Wei article, i have some suggestion about cite web template:
- Because you are contributing in English Wikipedia, you shouldn't use "language=en". Except, you are using sources with another language, you can use the parameter.
- For website parameter, you should use website title not website address in parameter. (ex: website=Stadium Astro not website=www.stadiumastro.com). See: Template:Cite web for more information.
I hope this will be useful for your next edits. Thank you. Stvbastian (talk) 11:27, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
- Stvbastian, noted. I rely on the VE reference generator for most of the refs. It seems Stadium Astro requires a Zotero translator to be written anyway. on
language=en
, I don't see any documentation that it shouldn't be used. Even if it is used, I don't see any rendering issues? – robertsky (talk) 22:25, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
DYK for Goo Hara
On 24 January 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Goo Hara, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that after Goo Hara's mother abandoned her and Goo died young, South Korean law was changed to prevent such parents from claiming inheritance? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Goo Hara. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Goo Hara), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
