Linking bold words

Since I left the first message on 19 December 2016, I am still coming across newly-created articles by you for soccer teams/conferences where you've linked the bold wording in the very first sentence. Please stop and read WP:BOLDAVOID. It's already linked in the infobox so there is no need to do it. If it's a team article, link their athletic article in the next sentence or leave it in the infobox. Please go back and remove the links from the articles. Thanks, Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 07:32, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Michael Rao. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. John from Idegon (talk) 16:53, 16 January 2017 (UTC)

Recreation of articles

I should warn you, recreating deleted articles without addressing the delete rationale, especially when you're dealing with articles recently deleted by AfD, is disruptive. If you keep this up, you may be blocked from editing. Sir Sputnik (talk) 15:22, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

Your recent deletion nominations

Hi Quidster, please note that I am of the opinion that your recent deletion nominations of articles I created are merely pointy acts as a result of your disagreement with my closing rationales to recent AfDs. I'm not sure why you have done this since there is long standing consensus that in a given country top level leagues are notable, but I have asked uninvolved admins to look into it here, where you are also welcome to comment. Non-free rationale for File:Beaches FC United States.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Beaches FC United States.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Proposed deletion of Palau Youth Soccer League

The article Palau Youth Soccer League has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Football league that does not meet WP:FOOTYN or WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Please be more calm when addressing an issue. I have went ahead and reverted the edit by adding citations. Quidster4040 (talk) 18:43, 12 February 2017 (UTC)

It appears that you have been canvassing—leaving messages on a biased choice of users' talk pages to notify them of an ongoing community decision, debate, or vote. While friendly notices are allowed, they should be limited and nonpartisan in distribution and should reflect a neutral point of view. Please do not post notices which are indiscriminately cross-posted, which espouse a certain point of view or side of a debate, or which are selectively sent only to those who are believed to hold the same opinion as you. Remember to respect Wikipedia's principle of consensus-building by allowing decisions to reflect the prevailing opinion among the community at large. Thank you. Sir Sputnik (talk) 17:47, 12 February 2017 (UTC)

No canvassing was intended. I felt GWFrog would like to have a say since his articles he created were under consideration for deletion for the same reasons. Quidster4040 (talk) 18:44, 12 February 2017 (UTC)
Then you need to present notification neutrally. In suggesting an outcome, you've canvassed the editors you notified, whether you intended it or not. Sir Sputnik (talk) 19:53, 12 February 2017 (UTC)

New college soccer infobox

On the one hand, the new infobox gives some good at-a-glance information. On the other hand, it loses most of the seasonal superlatives that are not otherwise covered. The longer we've gone on, the more value I have seen in those listings, to the point that I have sometimes really had to work to find and get the accurate information posted. GWFrog (talk) 16:26, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

GWFrog (talk · contribs) Good point, and I could some parameters to match the box, i.e. the longest winning streak, attendances, etc. How does that sound? Quidster4040 (talk) 18:06, 20 February 2017 (UTC)
Yeah... I had cut it down to biggest wins, highest scoring, longest streaks, and highest attendance... GWFrog (talk) 10:29, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Michelle Mosby thumb.png

Thanks for uploading File:Michelle Mosby thumb.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. XXN, 23:53, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2016 CONCACAF Futsal Championship qualification, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Patrick Healy (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give 1967 Saint Louis Billikens men's soccer team a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Non-free rationale for File:The Shelters album.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:The Shelters album.jpg.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 2016 America East Conference men's soccer season, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for Deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discusion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. 1868–69 College of New Jersey Tigers men's soccer team listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect 1868–69 College of New Jersey Tigers men's soccer team. Since you had some involvement with the 1868–69 College of New Jersey Tigers men's soccer team redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. I might as well add here that I reverted your edits claiming the 1869 Princeton Tigers football team was a soccer team. Sure, the rules they played with were closer to Association football than American football, but your own source, Melvin Smith, says the first intercollegiate soccer game was in 1905. Why you felt it necessary to add his retroactive national association football championships to {{NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Champion navbox}} from 1858 to 1904 is beyond me, but the Princeton teams from 1869 forward are considered American football teams, not soccer teams.
