Administrators' newsletter – June 2023
News and updates for administrators from the past month (May 2023).
|
|
- Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
- As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.
- Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.
- The arbitration case World War II and the history of Jews in Poland has been closed. The topic area of Polish history during World War II (1933-1945) and the history of Jews in Poland is subject to a "reliable source consensus-required" contentious topic restriction.
- Following a community referendum, the arbitration policy has been modified to remove the ability for users to appeal remedies to Jimbo Wales.
Ryan Mason
Hello, I saw that you reverted my edit on the page about Ryan Mason, saying that I didn't provide a reliable source. That is true, I'm new to Wikipedia, but you can see that it is confirmed on goal.com, reuters.com and so much more sources that Angelos Postecoglou became the new Tottenham Hotspur manager. I think it would be better to just put a source, rather than delete a valid and correct edit. Thank you in advance. Andrijator (talk) 18:41, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Andrijator: Hi, could you provide a source confirming that Postecoglou has *become* Tottenham manager, rather than him having agreed to join them? Mattythewhite (talk) 18:45, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- I don’t think he has officially become the Spurs manager just yet. Scientelensia (talk) 20:07, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- Correct, we should exercise patience until it's been confirmed. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:14, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- I have been guilty of such a mistake in the past! :) Scientelensia (talk) 20:15, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

Quote boxes
Hi @Mattythewhite: How do you usually decide on which quoteboxes to remove from articles? And why mix it with other valid edits? For one, it makes it hard to undo those edits. For two, I don't understand the removals because there's hardly any justification for it either in the edit message, let alone talk pages / elsewhere, making it hard for contributing editors to understand what really triggered it. Murtaza.aliakbar (talk) 23:43, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
- Good question, the answer to which I do not yet understand, as I have seen such quote boxes in notable and widely praised articles such as Lionel Messi and Harry Kane. Scientelensia (talk) 20:09, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- The answer to which is that I remove them on sight, as I don't see that they're appropriate on encyclopaedic entries. Quotes in and of themselves *can* of course be useful, especially in illustrating how other individuals view the subject. Where this is the case, they should be incorporated into the prose of the article. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:13, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks, that makes sense. How do we decide which ones are appropriate/useful? I of course admit that quote boxes that I added in the past may have been neither. Scientelensia (talk) 20:15, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- I don't think there's a simple answer to that. It would depend on a few things, like how useful the quote is in demonstrating the point it's supporting, and bearing in mind the number of quotes used to ensure the article remains balanced. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:20, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- Fair enough. What you say is very reasonable. Thank you. Scientelensia (talk) 20:22, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

Youri Tielemams
He’s been released earlier today in a list including 6 other Leicester City players’ that being said…I will drop the link below and if you deem the source unreliable then please tell me where I’m going wrong and if the source is ‘credible’ then would you reapply the said edit that is in the ‘archives’. Many thanks.

Dear Mattythewhite,
As I am sure that you must receive many notifications every day, making it hard to find interesting, important or relevant ones, I would just like to say that I have replied to your comment on my talk page here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Scientelensia#İlkay_Gündoğan

Conor Gallagher
Hi Matthew, thank you for your message. I got went through the article I referenced as a source, and saw that the main source was attributed by them to The Sun (a well-known UK Newspaper). Seeing that The Sun was cited and the article further improved on the subject matter, I'd like to request that you kindly check and re-add my addition back. Thank you. ChiefPCO (talk) 17:53, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
- @ChiefPCO: Per WP:THESUN, The Sun is deprecated as a source on Wikipedia and consensus has been reached that it is "generally unreliable". I don't think chelseauniversal.com would be regarded as a reliable source, especially when it's citing The Sun for its claims. I'd also note that the second sentence you added didn't have a reference at all. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:28, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
Greetings! User:Leocadii has been repeatedly trying to introduce unsourced POV regarding Sławomir Mentzen, despite my attempts to explain why it is inappropriate. Could you tell me what I should in this situation? Recent examples: 1, 2, 3, 4. Started with this. Monerals (talk) 19:33, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
Hi Matty,
I've noticed four edits on the entry Emeka Obi from 47.145.110.146 that are probably vandalism. The edits took place on the 23rd April. I will try and clean the article soon. The IP has made seven edits to Wikipedia in total. I'm not totally sure, but they all look like vandalism to me. I'm unsure of what to put on the IPs talk page. Please can you help?
Kind regards,
Puffin123 (talk) 22:40, 9 June 2023 (UTC).
- Another user has sorted it. Problem solved. :) Puffin123 (talk) 20:07, 12 June 2023 (UTC).
The article Ben Rhodes (footballer) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
This sports biography article was created (15 years ago) and is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs citations from reliable, independent sources; is missing information about Early life, more Career, Personal life, Achievements and honours; and lacks Significant coverage. It contains one external link to player statistics.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 09:00, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
Christophe Galtier
Hello. You spoke to me about the Christophe Galtier page and I want you to check it out when you see this — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smartnate64 (talk • contribs) 19:53, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Smartnate64: Hi. I undid your edits because there was no source provided to support your claim that Gatlier has left PSG, and I can't find any confirmation that his departure has yet been made oficial. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:03, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
Notability and domestic competition
Hi, Regarding your revision on the honours section of Kyle Walker: shouldn't this be changed, if "standard practice" overrules ordering of what has been decided by the community? Also: why make a distinction between runner-up of a cup competition and a league? Bocanegra (talk) 16:51, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
Liverpool F.C.
I’ve messaged NapHit who contributed to the featured article status of the Liverpool F.C. article, but in case they don’t see it due to absence from the site I’m bringing this to your attention as I’m away myself for a week. Keep an eye on Knowleche (talk) who is trying to rewrite the article based on the alterations they made to the LFC Women’s article. For example, in the lead: Liverpool F.C. is quote, “best known for it’s men’s first team”, and then in the body of the article, “the club also stated, both men and women's first teams would be referred to as Liverpool Football Club or Liverpool, unless distinguishing between the two sides in rare cases”. Completely made up. I’ve only just seen this yesterday but they’ve been at this for the last week. They added the women’s section to the body, which of course is fine, and I cleaned it up by removing the unsourced material (clearly promotional by the editor from an LFC Women’s standpoint). Nampa DC (talk) 14:24, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
- as a follow up, the same editor removed my comment from NapHit’s talkpage. Their intentions couldn’t be clearer. I’m off for a week. Someone else can deal with them. Nampa DC (talk) 15:00, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
Sockpuppetry?
I have something to tell you. Do you remember the account operator who first edited under the username PenguinsElite? You may do, I do anyway. I have a suspicion this might be them.
The last known sock of PenguinsElite that I can find is this account, which seems to be the latest one you've blocked by checking your block log. Apart from that, I was unaware of PenguinsElite editing after that until spotting the most recent completed Middlesbrough season page history have quite a number of Borofan12 edits here. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 17:38, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Iggy the Swan: It could well be them, although I haven't enough confidence that it is to block them. My main consideration is that this account has mostly only edited a club season page, whereas Penguin used to frequently edit biographies too. Mattythewhite (talk) 21:26, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
- Agree. The high percentage of club season page edits makes a difference in confidence to block. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 06:32, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
Administrators' newsletter – July 2023
News and updates for administrators from the past month (June 2023).
- Contributions to the English Wikipedia are now released under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0) license instead of CC BY-SA 3.0. Contributions are still also released under the GFDL license.
- Discussion is open regarding a proposed global policy regarding third-party resources. Third-party resources are computer resources that reside outside of Wikimedia production websites.
- Two arbitration cases are currently open. Proposed decisions are expected 5 July 2023 for the Scottywong case and 9 July 2023 for the AlisonW case.
And counting (please read here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:154.180.226.3, i have already reverted the particular article the IP nuisance and the other editor talk about there)!

I see that you have already blocked this one (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:41.47.181.209). If this is not MAJOR trolling, we are dealing with some mental issues in my humble opinion (be it A or B, they have no business editing here as such): first it was changing the heights, period, then adding spacings in the external links and changing field from "fullname" to "full_name", now it's spacings inside the references! In Maxi Rodríguez, their "contribution" included removing (accidentally OR NOT!) the "f" from the "pdf" in the URL field, causing the FIFA.com source for the player's height to crash (already reverted)!!

Indiscriminate removal of unsourced IPA transcriptions
Some transcriptions do not need a source. This one follows the letter-sound correspondences of the language. Dutch, much like Spanish, is highly phonetic and when you only have monosyllables in the transcription (or accents marked in spelling, as in Spanish) you do not need a citation. Dutch orthography, Help:IPA/Dutch (or Spanish orthography and Help:IPA/Spanish) feature all the citations you need. I'm going to go ahead and restore transcriptions like that. Sol505000 (talk) 16:35, 9 July 2023 (UTC)

The article Ramón Calderón has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. jlwoodwa (talk) 20:37, 21 July 2023 (UTC)

About 2023–24 Europa Conference League
My edit are reverted because I put Fiorentina instead of Juventus. Juventus are currently ineligible. Don’t believe me, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022–23_Serie_A#League_table here Gfdretttt (talk) 12:31, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Gfdretttt, this does not match what 2023–24_UEFA_Europa_Conference_League#Teams says, they have Juventus in the Italian (7th) box and so does Juventus's current season page. The editors I am pinging - @ThatStatMan, Nehme1499, and Gasforth-2021: - are the ones who have changed from "result7=ECLPO" to "result8=ECLPO" (and vice-versa) on the Template:2022–23 Serie A table. Administrators' newsletter – August 2023

Interface administrator changes
- The tag filter on Special:NewPages and revision history pages can now be inverted. This allows hiding edits made by automated tools. (T334338)
- Special:BlockedExternalDomains is a new tool that allows easier blocking of plain domains (and their subdomains). This is more easily searchable and is faster for the software to use than the existing MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. It does not support regex (for complex cases), URL path-matching, or the MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. (T337431)
- The arbitration cases named Scottywong and AlisonW closed 10 July and 16 July respectively.
- The SmallCat dispute arbitration case is in the workshop phase.
(possible)Page move
Nano Rivas, should you see it fit could you please restore the previous title, "Nano (footballer, born 1980)"? Since we already have Nano (footballer, born 1982) (which was wrongfully moved to Nano Macedo but then rightfully restored) and Nano (footballer, born 1984), i don't see why this case (a NAME/NICKNAME compound!) should be any different; i tried to perform the action myself, but was not allowed.

Community Shield citation and Nottingham Forest link
Hello, I noticed you edited some of my updates. First of all, I only put the double brackets around 'Nottingham Forest' because that is the only Wiki entry (I could see) that has that link; and the link worked, so I don't see a need to change it. Second, for the BBC article on the Community Shield, I like to use the title of the link that I see on the website, as I believe that just using the match result is rather bland. If you think I am wrong, then please let me know. I would be interested to know more about your Wikipedia modus operandi. Gregwholikestrains (talk) 21:33, 21 August 2023 (UTC)

Hello Mattythewhite, in the document you edited for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, the number in the section that says International career is 97 for Sadio Mane and 90 for Mohamed Salah, but Sadio Mane's entry is 98 and Mohamed Salah's entry is 98. Can I edit it to 91? I want to edit it, but I can't because I don't have the editing conditions yet. I would sincerely appreciate it if you could see this message and edit it. Thank You. Palace players stats
Hi Matty, as you know the sad passing of Eagleash has resulted in a number of areas which he kindly and diligently edited are now being left. A few of us have taken over some bits, I am updating the managers stats. But I've noticed the time consuming role of players stats is being left. Some editors have tried to update and I've noticed you have reverted some. Is there someone willing to take over the mantel ( maybe yourself!!). Have you been in contact with any editors you know?. Just thought I would flag it up as players stats are important. Many thanks. Remi Morris (talk) 10:58, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Remi Morris: Hi, I had recently noticed that Palace stats weren't being updated like they were, but I wasn't aware of Eagleash's passing until now. I don't think I'll have either the time or energy to take on updating the stats on Palace player bios, though, and I don't really bother that much with updating stats for players of my own team nowadays. I'd advise raising it at WT:FOOTBALL to see if anyone might be able and willing to chip in. Mattythewhite (talk) 21:05, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry Matty, I thought you were a fellow Eagle!!! No you are right, it's even time consuming and painstaking doing the stats for the club you love!!! Eagleash did so much on our wiki page. But also he would do every players stats, he would only leave the odd one if someone favoured doing one player. For example Luka Milojevic was always or mostly updated by one editor. But now we have a variety if editors doing the odd player, but not updating correctly or only doing part of it!!! It's a bit of mess. Sorry to bother you, it was only if you knew someone. Yes I might contact that link. Many thanks. Remi Morris (talk) 12:48, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

- Self-nominations for the electoral commission for the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections opens on 2 October and closes on 8 October.
Harry Maguire
I noticed all the images I added have been reverted. I thought the current image wasn't as much of a better infobox image as the one with him smiling. ie. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Harry_Maguire_and_Kieran_Tripper_2018_(cropped).jpg (If it is in terms of size, can this be cropped and rather use for the main infobox image?)
I would like to know why all the images I added were removed including the one of him playing at the world cup, the one of him in 2019. Considering your wealth of experience editing Wikipedia over the years, may be my decisions and reasons for improving the article in that way did not suit the standard. I would like to know the reasons for reverting them. Looking forward to your response. Thank you. Ampimd (talk) 22:45, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Ampimd: The current infobox image shows Maguire's face more clearly and his face has a more neutral expression. I don't think cropping the other image would do much good as it's quite a small image as it is.
- As for the other images, an image of him facing away from the camera isn't of much use to anyone, and the other would be fine if cropped to just show Maguire. I don't think there's enough space for a second image to fit neatly into the international career section as it is, though. Mattythewhite (talk) 23:03, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
The Intertoto Cup Was an Official Competition
UEFA Intertoto Cup
The tournament was founded in 1961–62, but was only taken over by UEFA in 1995. Initially, the tournament ended with a single champion, who received the Intertoto Cup. Starting in 1967, the tournament ended with a number of group winners (7 to 14 winners, see below), who received cash prizes. When UEFA took on the tournament, it became a qualifier for the UEFA Cup, with 2 to 11 Intertoto winners (see below) advancing to the second qualifying round of the UEFA Cup.
Any club who wished to participate had to apply for entry, with the highest placed clubs (by league position in their domestic league) at the end of the season entering the competition. The club did not have to be ranked directly below the clubs which had qualified for another UEFA competition; if the club which was in that position did not apply, they would not be eligible to compete, with the place instead going to the club which did apply.
The cup billed itself as providing both an opportunity for clubs who otherwise would not get the chance to enter the UEFA Cup and as an opportunity for sports lotteries (or pools) to continue during the summer. This reflects its background, which was as a tournament solely for football pools. In 1995, the tournament came under official UEFA sanctioning and UEFA Cup qualification places were granted. Initially, two were provided; this was increased to three after one year; but in 2006, it was again increased to the final total of 11.
The competition was discontinued after the 2008 tournament.
The name of the competition and the name of the UEFA Confederation appear on the Official Cup.

Rothmans 83-84
Hi Matty, hope you are well. Quick question - do you still own the Rothmans Football Yearbook 1983-84? If so, could you confirm that it contains the full Third Division fixtures for that season and the page number(s)? Basically I need to source that Gillingham were originally meant to play five league games in January (four of them wound up being postponed so they only actually played one league game during the entire month). I can source it from the programme for the first game of the season but an independent source would be better. Any help you can give will be extremely gratefully received!!! All the best -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 12:47, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
- @ChrisTheDude: Hi Chris, just to be certain: it's the fixture dates as they were originally announced that you need, rather than when they actually ended up being played? I'll take a look in the respective editions and let you know if they're there. Mattythewhite (talk) 11:55, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah, the originally announced fixtures for 1983/84. My understanding is that the Gills were originally meant to have league games on 2nd, 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th January 1984, but all bar the one on the 14th wound up getting postponed (two due to FA Cup games taking precedence, the other two presumably down to the weather). Thanks in advance for your help! -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 12:07, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
- @ChrisTheDude: Here are the five January fixtures listed in Rothmans, hopefully they match your programme:
- 2 January, Newport County (A)
- 7 January, Hull City (A)
- 14 January, Sheffield United (H)
- 21 January, Oxford United (A)
- 28 January, Plymouth Argyle (H)
- With source: {{cite book |editor-first=Tony |editor-last=Williams |title=Rothmans Football Yearbook 1983–84 |date=1983 |publisher=Queen Anne Press |location=London |isbn=978-0-356-09727-5 |page=958}}
- As an aside, I can't help but notice that the article lists all three FA Cup matches against Everton as having been played on the same day. I'm assuming that's not correct - or is that how replays were settled back in the day? ;-) Mattythewhite (talk) 19:31, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
- That's awesome, thanks! Oh, and you mean you don't believe that the Gills played 90 minutes at Goodison, drove all the way back to Priestfield, played 120 minutes there, then played another 90 minutes, all in the space of one day? What can I say, players had to work a lot harder back then ;-) -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 21:12, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

Is the citation policy changed?
Hello, I leave this question as I saw your edit of Patrick Vieira commenting "partial rv". Has the policy of Full Name citation changed? For instance, like "Full name citation has to be written inside the paragraph, not the Infobox." I tried to find the citation policy change, but I couldn't find it... --YellowTurtle9 (talk) 05:36, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
- @YellowTurtle9: Per MOS:INFOBOXREF, "References are acceptable in some cases, but generally not needed in infoboxes if the content is repeated (and cited) elsewhere". Therefore, if the full name is cited in the prose it doesn't need to also have a reference in the infobox. Mattythewhite (talk) 13:12, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Mattythewhite Oh, I see... Thanks for the reply. Have a nice day! :) --YellowTurtle9 (talk) 15:31, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – December 2023
News and updates for administrators from the past month (November 2023).
- Following a talk page discussion, the Administrators' accountability policy has been updated to note that while it is considered best practice for administrators to have notifications (pings) enabled, this is not mandatory. Administrators who do not use notifications are now strongly encouraged to indicate this on their user page.
- Following a motion, the Extended Confirmed Restriction has been amended, removing the allowance for non-extended-confirmed editors to post constructive comments on the "Talk:" namespace. Now, non-extended-confirmed editors may use the "Talk:" namespace solely to make edit requests related to articles within the topic area, provided that their actions are not disruptive.
- The Arbitration Committee has announced a call for Checkusers and Oversighters, stating that it will currently be accepting applications for CheckUser and/or Oversight permissions at any point in the year.
- Eligible users are invited to vote on candidates for the Arbitration Committee until 23:59 December 11, 2023 (UTC). Candidate statements can be seen here.
Formatting of football scores
Hi @Mattythewhite, I noticed that you edited the score for Nuno Espírito Santo's first win as Nottingham Forest manager from "1-3" to "3-1". I had originally opted for the former to better illustrate that it was an away fixture, but I am aware that it doesn't read as nicely.
Is there a standardised convention for this? I am a new editor on Wikipedia so currently unaware of these details.
Thanks! SteelSmog (talk) 01:05, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
- @SteelSmog: I'm not Mattythewhite but I can answer the question. Yes, per WP:FOOTY consensus, for match scores the larger number always goes first. It is also worth noting that for scores we use en dashes, not hyphens; the relevant style guide is at MOS:ENBETWEEN. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 12:11, 27 December 2023 (UTC)

References for mid-season club changes (Adam Forshaw)
Hello @Mattythewhite, looking for a bit of advice here. I've just added a new row for Adam Forshaw whose debut for Plymouth is today but the SB reference for the new Plymouth row comes up as "Cite error: The named reference "Soccerbase2324" was defined multiple times with different content (see the help page)." I've tried to use the WP:REFNAME "foo" citation workaround [1] for the Norwich 23/24 row and then reference it in the Plymouth row as [1] but it's not working. Any help appreciated. Thx! Nationalities of British people
I think you're a native so you can explain me. Rishi Sunak and Wayne Rooney are from United Kingdom but Sunak's nationality is listed as British in Wikipedia but it's English for Rooney. Can you explain me why? Like I know that there are four countries inside of UK (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) and all that but why some are listed English and some as British. Another example is Gordon Ramsay is listed as British but Kenny Dalglish as Scottish even though they are form Scotland. It is so messed up, I think you can help me as you're a native of British Isles. RushingGold (talk) 13:18, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
- @RushingGold: Well, "messed up" is one way of putting it. I suppose it generally depends on what the individual is best known for, e.g. Sunak for being the British Prime Minister, and Rooney for being an English international footballer. And on what the individual prefers, e.g. Welsh, Scottish etc over British. Mattythewhite (talk) 13:39, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

Real Kakamora Crest
I apologize for spreading misinformation about Sergio Ramos signing to my favorite club. However, the old logo currently shown is rather outdated and I merely added the REAL crest for the club. Sorry for the blatant vandalism but the other edit was indeed real.
Thanks KillaTrav87 (talk) 22:49, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
What is your problem?
@Mattythewhite: I am not trying to be rude, but I was hired yesterday on social media as a volunteer employee of Real Kakamora F.C., who has recently underwent a new change in ownership and is looking to expand their online presence as a club and ensure that the most accurate information is widely accessible to those who are interested. In my time as a volunteer editor for the club, you have reverted the edit on the club page itself to an outdated logo, accused me of violating copyright laws even though the image is technically the property of the Solomon Islands Football Federation, which the club is a member of, and threatened to suspend me from editing outright on Wikipedia with a lack of any further elaboration. You clearly have no knowledge whatsoever of the club and yet continue to undermine it. We are short-staffed and are trying to ensure those who research us online can get the sufficient information, which they previously did not because of individuals like you trying to suppress our team image. Saying there is "no further discusson" to be had is both a typo and objectively incorrect; which is utterly disrespectful to our management group. I must ask, why are you like this? Do you have a hatred for our club and people? Or are you just insufferable by nature? However, you do support York City, and in that regard I am not surprised at all.
Thanks for making Wikipedia a worse place,

- @KillaTrav87: It's usually the insufferableness (is that a word?), although in this case my motivation was to remove a copyright violation, which I would note has now been deleted by an administrator at Wikimedia Commons. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:30, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Mattythewhite: It appears your "insufferableness" has also contributed to you ignoring my entire comment, which explicitly stated that I was now a volunteer employee for the club in question. The fellow employee who uploaded the image and myself technically have rights to using it in that regard as Real Kakamora is under the Solomon Islands Football Federation, who is more than happy to have the image used in Wikipedia. It was only removed due to your false report and the fact that it was removed by an administrator does not make your argument credible at all. It is quite literally an image of my organization. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:41, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Mattythewhite: If I were to alter the claim made when uploading the image would that allow it to stay on Wikipedia? I do not understand if this is due to the claim's incorrectness or another factor that I did not take into account. KillaTrav87 (talk) 19:55, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- @KillaTrav87: My advice would be for any image that is uploaded to be one that hasn't already been released (like the previous one, via the SIFF website), and that is the property of the user uploading it.
- Perhaps the SIFF could consider using a Flickr account, if it doesn't already have one, to uploaded images under a license that is usable on Wikipedia (CC BY or CC BY-SA)? Mattythewhite (talk) 20:44, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
