Notice

The article Jordan Andrew Wilson has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not appear to meet WP:NFOOTY. Per WP:FPL, Danish 1st Division is not a professional league.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hitro talk 09:28, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Caps for Dutch (and Belgian) leagues

[edit]

Hi there. :-) I just wanted to quickly explain why I reverted your caps update at Melvyn Lorenzen. The Dutch and Belgian leagues (and perhaps others I am not aware of) have league playoff matches after the regular season has been played. These playoff matches should be [Edit: not] counted in players' infoboxes. Unfortunately, many sources such as Soccerway don't distinguish between the two. worldfootball.net does so if we're looking to update the infoboxes of players of the Dutch and Belgian leagues it's probably the best place to check. Happy editing, Robby.is.on (talk) 07:20, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I corrected the numbers for a bunch of ADO Den Haag players. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 08:40, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop re-adding the playoff matches. Per WP:FOOTY consensus they are not counted. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Infobox_football_biography (Explanation for "{{{caps1}}}, {{{caps2}}}... {{{caps39}}}"). Robby.is.on (talk) 11:28, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming categories

[edit]

Hi, you tagged Category:FC Svendborg players for moving, but did not add it to the listing as instructed in the template, so nothing has been done about it yet. I have now listed it for you at WP:CFDS.

You also redirected the parent Category:FC Svendborg and created a new page Category:SfB-Oure FA. As you decided that there was enough continuity to rename the main article to SfB-Oure FA, the category should also have been renamed using WP:CFD, so that editors could see the history of the page. I have now merged the history of those pages, omitting the edit in which you created the duplicate page. Please avoid using copy-and-paste moves for any pages in Wikipedia. – Fayenatic London 11:05, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edit reversion

[edit]

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 11:19, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Knowing football, winning the play-offs - a tournament of its own inside the league structures - is a considerable honour. Kind regards, Bocanegra 22:12, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, and look at the RFC, clear consensus there not to include it as an honour, partly because sources do not. GiantSnowman 21:14, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve R.F.C. Meux

[edit]

Hello, Bocanegra,

Thank you for creating R.F.C. Meux.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

This article needs more references that specifically mention this team.
This league is not a professional league for Wikipedia sport, soccer in particular. This means that articles about teams in this competition need to meet both NSPORT and GNG, general notability. This is why this article is tagged like so. Lists, Team rosters, Soccerway, Instagram, Facebook, none of these are reliable sources. Best sources are newspaper or sporting website articles about the team.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

colspans in stats tables

[edit]

Hi Bocanegra. Thanks for updating Eric Oelschlägel. Going forward, please don't use colspans across multiple competitions as you did in Oelschlägel's career statistics table. It doesn't aid readability and is likely an MOS:ACCESS issue. I've reverted those parts of your changes at Eric Oelschlägel. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 17:32, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

January 2023

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Treviso FBC 1993. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Nabil El Basri moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Nabil El Basri, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) WP:NFOOTY is no longer a valid SNG, so GNG must be met. It needs several refs from independent, reliable, secondary sources to pass WP:GNG. It should have at least 3 of those. Please remember that routine sports coverage does not satisfy GNG, and that interviews, being primary sources, do not go to notability either. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. NL club articles

[edit]

Hey User:Bocanegra, you know I'm a huge fan of your contributions to Enwiki! So just a few things:

  • Provinces of the Netherlands. This is the first thing you would see after a placename at Nlwiki. Becasue in the Netherlands, and in Flanders as well, it has huge locational value. Not the case at Enwiki. These are not states or autonomies, just another (the highest) level of local government, and nobodoy knows or should know where and often what these are. Enwiki readers are best served by once linking a placename, then writing Netherlands (a small, compact, and unitarian country). Would the readers need to know more, then they would just click on the town.
  • Clubs are its in English. While using they is not totally wrong, as there sure are people behind them, it is preferred.
  • Putting upfront in which league a club plays. Here one problem is that this is very volatile and we do not always get back to articles to update this. For amateur soccer, it makes more sense to put in the history something along the lines of: In 2021 the club promoted to the Tweede Klasse. It may have relegated the next year, however the statement remains true and has eternal value. Otherwise we just keep updating out of date statements in the lead and never advance on the body of articles. This took me a while to figure out as well, so an occasional statement I'm now advising against may still be written by me!

Thanks again for all your contributions to Dutch soccer!!! Best, gidonb (talk) 11:08, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Gidonb.
Thanks for the praise and the tips for writing about Dutch football clubs. I'll make sure to include those from now on.
How about league, result, and position in the infobox for Dutch amateur clubs? These are probably also not often updated - which also rings true for managerial changes, new heads of boards etc.? Bocanegra (talk) 13:26, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely! I kind of expect this information to be outdated. I assume the reader with me. The biggest letdown, I think, is if we cannot get the lead or true sounding statements right. The rest we should get as good as possible. Much can be done by eternal truths. I have noticed there is a partial remedy of the problem you mention by also linking or just writing the year. I'm not an expert and looks like only a partial remedy. But if you see that the year is older you are going to expect the chances are high it hasn't been updated. I filled out the league on an article I just created: Velocitas 1897. I can recommend removing any current team field and current club in the lead for footballers now in amateur clubs. If we can keep the clubs/years up-to-date in the box that would be already great! Here too, not updated is less bad than wrong information (e.g. "XY plays at {wrong club}", "FC XYZ plays in {wrong league}", [in box] "Current team: {wrong club}"). Another thing: with these managers and presidents, if we can list them in the article (and not just update the box) that has eternal and content value. Just like with the leagues. See for example BVV Barendrecht, where I also used my competition results box developed for ASWH. I just created an article on Gidi Jacobs, so recently updated this managers list. And then we have already discussed a lot. Thank you for caring! gidonb (talk) 14:12, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It offers a cleaner appearance, adheres to MOS:ACCESS, and is already used in numerous featured articles, including 1997–98 Gillingham F.C. season and more recent ones like the 2024–25 Manchester United F.C. season.
