Notability of schools
Hi L3X1. I just spotted your comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/St. Andrew's Secondary School, Adikpo that schools are "automatically notable", and thought I should make you aware of the outcome of this RfC. Perhaps you meant that you personally consider schools automatically notable, which is fine, but the RfC dismissed the idea that schools are presumed to be notable. Cordless Larry (talk) 18:55, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks Cordless Larry, I was referring to how I read NSCHOOL (subset of ORG) and footnote 7 of WP:N. L3X1 (distant write) 19:44, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- Perhaps I've misunderstood you, but I don't really see how either of those can be interpreted to mean that schools are automatically notable. Cordless Larry (talk) 19:46, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

- Perhaps I've misunderstood you, but I don't really see how either of those can be interpreted to mean that schools are automatically notable. Cordless Larry (talk) 19:46, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- Cordless Larry & Sitush My apologies, I reread the policies, and checked both current and previous revisions: schools aren't automatically notable. Looks like I need to a do a general policy refresher. L3X1 (distant write) 18:21, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

My welcome
Thank you for the welcome. As you might be able to tell, I'm already gaining a bit of proficiency in using templates and such. As such, how does one use a piped link like {{dl|Barnyard|film}} as is normally used on the YPPedia? SnivyFan1995 (talk) 16:22, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
- SnivyFan1995 I'm not sure, but I think they are used when renaming a link (science) and separating between templates. L3X1 (distant write) 18:13, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

Your recent edit
Regarding this edit. Just a short while ago I made this report. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:32, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- Magnolia677 That's how I got Boomboom's edits. I think admin action will be taken against the user in question, but I don't think it will be quick and easy. I'm investigating that RS claim, and they are trodding on some fine lines re: Instagram. L3X1 (distant write) 22:39, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- Just to note that I've made a lot of sourced edits, like the ones shown here, here, here, here and more, its just that Magnolia677 is convinced that I am another blocked editor named Xboxmanwar (which I'm not) and solely using this as an excuse to try to get me blocked, also whenever Magnolia677 was proven wrong by another editor and/or doesn't care to back up their statements, they don't tend to respond, they did it to me and other editors editing in the music genre. Recent "vandalism" un-edit
Regarding [recent edit on the Medicine section of List of Mnemonics]
Hi, I'm new to wikipedia editing, so please excuse me if this is in the wrong area or if I come across as inexperienced
My edit was flagged as vandalism just for the fact that it contained a slang term for the word "breasts". I certainly don't think this should result in a permanent ding on my account that may result in a permanent ban if it happens again, especially when you consider a.) The new mnemonic I edited in is equally accurate and b.) The new mnemonic is far more common/widespread use in today's medical education
For evidence of (b), try this experiment. Google these:
1. "some say marry money but my brother says big business makes money" ---Hits = 395
2. "some say marry money but my brother says big b***s matter more" ---Hits = 5,150
The new mnemonic that I edited in has over 10x more hits. It also just makes more sense, if you compare them.
Regardless, it was an edit made in good faith, not to vandalize. I don't think that policy should apply to this edit. 中国的中东人 (talk) 20:07, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
- My apologies 中国的中东人, I have removed the warning from your talk page. L3X1 (distant write) 23:11, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you :) Is this what we're supposed to do if the bot detects vandalism? I was afraid just clicking "Undo" would cause another ding and some red alarms would come on and scare me.中国的中东人 (talk) 08:28, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
- 中国的中东人 The bot is called ClueBot NG, and how it detects vandalism, I'm not too sure. If someone reverts your edit, it is a good idea to bring up the issue with them. Wikipedia has a policy called WP:BRD:Bold, Revert, Discuss. It talks about how being bold is making a change, and if someone reverts it, then to dicuss it. You did that with me and it worked out well. L3X1 (distant write) 21:35, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

Is the master account not just User:Kavdiaravish? If the old accounts (as identified from Sam Walton's table) had been added to the SPI at the time, a Checkuser could have been done to identify old accounts, which would have simplified the process of finding edited articles a lot easier? Hello , L3X1! I recently made an edit to the safe seat page and made it include my riding, which is a tory safe seat as it has only been held by two Liberals in 102 years. I'm not an experienced editor; in fact this was my first edit. I'd just like to know what exactly it was I did wrong so that I can re-add this information without the error, and so I won't repeat it in the future. I ensure you that my intent was not to vandalize. Thanks, Haywalk (talk) 00:12, 12 April 2017 (UTC)haywalk

CSD
With regards to your comment in this edit: no, this is completely wrong, and if this is your view then you shouldn't be marking things for speedy deletion. The article you tagged was extremely stubby, but "being very stubby" is not a CSD criterion, and not in any way related to the total nonsense tags you chose. WP:CSD is completely clear:
The criteria for speedy deletion (CSD) specify the only cases in which administrators have broad consensus to bypass deletion discussion, at their discretion, and immediately delete Wikipedia pages or media. They cover only the cases specified in the rules here. ... Administrators should take care not to speedy delete pages or media except in the most obvious cases. ... Contributors sometimes create pages over several edits, so administrators should avoid deleting a page that appears incomplete too soon after its creation.
(My bold.) "Creative" tagging is completely at odds with both the spirit and the letter of this policy. Don't do it. (David Eppstein's admonitions are also totally valid.) --JBL (talk) 20:57, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

I remember that The Troubles have been a sore spot on here forever so I'm wanting to toe the line here. If we conclude that my revert at Bobby Sands needs to be fully or partially undone, am I good to revert myself or is it so sensitive that they might block me for that? I'm looking at the list of rules and restrictions and there's nothing to help me. CityOfSilver 01:40, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
- CityOfSilver I'm thinking it will be okay if you self revert. I think that if you modified your revert, it definitely wouldn't count; there appears to be no limit on the number of edits. You have reverted my edit, the reason i edited it, is because she is not a female clone within the context of this movie. The director and the major plot of this movie has confirmed that she is his biological daughter, which this plot synopsis seems to leave out. Plus 99.99 % of this movie does not call her a clone but they have it under her character(which that is unsourceful in the context of this film),it even contradicts it self because under the plot description(like in the movie plot it states they were bred from DNA, which breeding and cloning are two contradicting things. However, seeing his revert of your change to Get Out, I don't believe you will find much benefit in complaining there. Indeed, you might find yourself a recipient of a WP:BOOMERANG ban, since it looks like your edit was indeed poor and deserved to be reverted. Question
Hi, L3X1. Just wondering: The ANI issue "RazzSazz BLP vios at Alia Janine" was archived here without it being resolved one way or the other; usually when an issue is dismissed, the admin will say something like "no violation found" or "issue is stale." I was wondering why there was no resolution here, given the BLP nature of the issue particularly. Thank you for any help or information. --Tenebrae (talk) 14:28, 5 May 2017 (UTC)

userfying joke wiki pages
It'd be fine with me, so long as the pages were kept as redirects. They're not likely to ever be used in any seriousness (although the alphabet soup redirect at WP:EYDL might, but we can keep it as a redirect to the blockhammer page until then). ᛗᛁᛟᛚᚾᛁᚱPants Tell me all about it. 20:39, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

A Wanted Man Edit Question
How is my edit not constructive? First of all my edit is what actually appears in the book. Secondly the difference between saying one sentence and talking for a minute is quite important. It is trivial to come up with a sentence that does not have the letter A (e.x. He runs slowly.), therefore it does not make sense as a puzzle. Talking for a whole minute without the letter A is a legitimate puzzle. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.3.140.163 (talk) 02:56, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

WP:UAA reports on users with no edits
Generally, there is no reason to report usernames with no edits whatsoever. Per WP:UAAI :"Wait until the user edits. Do not report a user that hasn't edited unless they are clearly a vandal. We do not want to welcome productive editors with a report at UAA, nor do we want to waste our time dealing with accounts that may never be used." The exceptions are obvious hate speech or names that attack a living person/Wikipedia editor, those are blockable even without any edits, but other run-of-the-mill violations need not be reported unless and until they at least attempt to edit, and you should be able to clearly explain what the problem is if it is not immediately evident.
For whatever reason, every day dozens, if not hundreds of accounts are created that never make one single edit. It is our responsibility as admins to conscientiously review every report a user makes at UAA, so we have to check for contribs, deleted contribs, and tripping of the edit filter for every one of these reports, only to find out there's nothing there and therefore no problem to be solved. So we add the {{wait}} tag to the report, it goes to WP:UAA/HP for a week or more, and must then be reviewed again to see if the account has since become active before removing it. That's time that could be spent doing more productive things, but you basically obligate admins to do it by making such reports. ANI closure
[1]. Three things: Firstly, who are to close a discussion at ANI? Secondly, who posts a question in the form of a closing comment where there is no prospect of a right of reply? Finally, where did I call OID stupid? As you say, diffs please? CassiantoTalk 18:59, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
- I'll ignore the whole who-are-you-to-do-what thing. I have reopened the An/I discussion, this can furthered either here or there (doing it here saves you the trouble of pinging me, but it is more private). Does this comment look familiar:
- Please mind your own business. Your stupid comments are not helping the situation. CassiantoTalk 10:01, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
- You don't link to any of his "stupid comments", which were the diffs I was requesting. d.g. L3X1 (distant write) 19:08, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
Again, which part of my comment refers to OID being stupid? From what I can see, I called his comment stupid. Great people can say stupid things; just as stupid people can say great things. I know you're desperate to be an admin, but you must really think before you type. CassiantoTalk 19:47, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
- I apologise for jumping to the conclusion that by degrading the comment you were judging the editor. I do fail to see how his comment is stupid. d.g. L3X1 (distant write) 20:03, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
- Sarah and others were trying to end the drama and said so numerous times. Then along comes OID with a comment that was designed to fan the flames further. It was not needed; did not benefit the discussion in the slightest; and came across as grave dancing and condescending. That was why it was stupid. CassiantoTalk 20:24, 13 May 2017 (UTC)

- Yeah, I really don't care about the page, just curious about the background of the creating user. An account that hasn't edited in nine years suddenly appearing to re-create something months after re-creation by a banned user seems to indicate a compromised account. New Page Review - Newsletter No.4
Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 804 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!
But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.

Hi, just wanted to let you know that I declined your speedy deletion nomination of User:RiyazJalaluddinkhan because it did not appear to be unambiguously promotional. Colloquialisms do not always follow rules in an absolute watertight way. "The Spurs" tends to be speech and may be too colloquial for an encyclopedia. Britmax (talk) 07:27, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

COI for inhabitants?
Hi Home Lander. I am writing this here so as to not confuse the editor you are in conversation with on your talk page, RF Smith, who said …resident who through volunteering efforts and interest in my community (along with the help of other residents)… I noticed that you stated (or seemed to state, at least to me) that living in the municipality was a COI. As I write I realize that he may perhaps be implying that he is part of some town-promoting group, which is definitely COI. If that is what Smith meant then sorry for the misunderstanding. I bring this up because when I was a new page patroller, I ran across an article which was written by a resident. I tagged it with COI, and PamD wrote: …no evidence of COI (if living in a place counted as a COI then practically every town or village article would be so labeled)… written in my pre-April Archive on 3/21, it is #87 in the Table of Contents if the link doesn't take you to the full conversation. So if Smith is just a resident and not affiliated with any town-boosting schemes, I disagree with your statement This is absolutely a conflict of interest. Thank for reading this, d.g. L3X1 (distænt write) )evidence( 03:12, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- Hello L3X1, thanks for tagging me. I definitely get the feeling that the user is part of a town-promoting group. There was actually one other user - Lakeviewer411 - who I first reverted due to addition of promotional content. After the revert, RF Smith began re-adding the content in a similar fashion, so I notified both users regarding the COI and sock/meatpuppetry policy. The material they are attempting to add is very promotional in nature - see their post at the talk page - I haven't been on for the past couple of days but I'm thinking that I'm probably not the one who should continue handling their request. You seem to have a keen eye on the COI policy; if you wouldn't mind, could you by chance engage the user at the article talk page? Thanks. Home Lander (talk) 17:13, 24 June 2017 (UTC)

Vandalism?
That wasn't vandalism. It was a relevant source pertaining to the given topic. Explain to me how it was vandalism, please? 2601:84:4502:61EA:848A:6589:7412:3A6D (talk) 19:33, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry for calling your edit vandalism,a s ti was done in good faith. The fragment and source doesn't belong on the end of the sentence, because the sentence is not about a decrease or increase in hate crimes, so saying "hate crimes against Jews have remained common" it out of place. Please remember to assume good faith when dealing with other editors, which you did not do on Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Emijrp/All Human Knowledge. Drmies has already expressed to you how your language in this MfD was inappropriate. Complaining of a cabal and leaving edit summaries that seem intended to provoke others is inappropriate. TonyBallioni (talk) 20:06, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
- TonyBallioni I was not and am not complaining of a cabal. I'm responding to Lugnut, Paleo, and TheDJ. There is an essay somewhere which says something along the lines of those who complain about cabals are merely part of them. What I am complaining is the lack of debate/discussion going on at the MfD. I start trying to get a discussion going yesterday, get shut down after comment #3, and then today SL drops a duplicate borderline rude (IMO) message to 7 different editors. I assume you're referring to my ES: not worth my time to reply to vague sarcasm. If BMK means what I think he does, then I interpret it as being accused of being a little whiner who says that anyone who doesn't agree with him is an evil cabal. That is not what I said nor what I meant. To me, if anything was provoking in that sub-thread, it would be the sarcastic comment, wouldn't it? I see this MfD as really bringing out the inner a-hole in a lot of us (no, I am not calling you that, nor am I angry with you), which believe me doesn't swell my heart with pride. Indeed, I thank you for coming here and bringing your concerns to my attention, I don't want to be known as "That jackass L3x1", and if my behavior is out of line then I can fix it. - Hi L3, sure. First off, I'm not mad either, I just thought after the discussion with Drmies about the same MfD and similar ones with Iridescent followed by this conversation with Iridescent and Ponyo that it made sense to point it clearly in this case that the comments probably weren't that constructive. Re: the edit summaries, yes, while I think adding that edit summary was particularly bad judgement when you were fixing a typo, this one and this one, when taken together with some that had been pointed out to you in the past at the links above show this is an area you could work on.While the cabal comment could easily be read to imply that those editors who agree with Softlavender are also toxic (it takes more than one to form a cabal). I also think this relates to what you are expecting from a discussion. To me it appears you are using it to mean people who start off disagreeing end up agreeing, and are assuming that those who hold strong to their views aren't engaging in good faith. To use a real life example, short of a miracle, no amount of discussion with Peter Singer will ever get me anywhere near his views on how animals play into the moral economy. I think his views are wrong even though I acknowledge they are well thought out. That's okay, and it doesn't make any discussion we might have less of a discussion. I think BMK was bluntly trying to hint at the two discussions I linked to with Iridescent above. I wouldn't have phrased it that way, but I do think he has a point that as a (former?) ANI regular, assuming good faith on others has the benefit of people assuming it for you. TonyBallioni (talk) 23:43, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Redirects of film titles to film directors
Hi L3X1, a redirect of a film that has no article yet to its director, like this one makes it difficult for WP:Film/missing films to keep track of missing film articles, because they appear in our list as blue links. New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
- Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.
Technology update:
- Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
- The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:
- User:Lourdes/PageCuration.js adds a link to the new pages feed and page curation toolbar to your top toolbar on Wikipedia
- User:The Earwig/copyvios.js adds a link in your side toolbox that will run the current page through
General project update:
- Following discussion at Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers, Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Noticeboard has been marked as historical. Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers is currently the most active central discussion forum for the New Page Patrol project. To keep up to date on the most recent discussions you can add it to your watchlist or visit it periodically.

Ghetto
I'm looking for clarification of your edit regarding the Ghetto page. You said you edited the link but you also deleted "Many people refer to Gaza as a Ghetto though this is hotly debated. A film was made in 1984 documenting this claim called Gaza Ghetto". Can you tell me why? A film called Gaza Ghetto from 1984 clearly establishes that Gaza has been called a Ghetto for over 30 years. I plan to make a more detailed entry on the subject in the future but was surprised to see this deletion. - No problem. Relisting is, as WP:RELIST says, basically an administrative task (even if non-admins are allowed to do it), so WP:INVOLVED has to be followed by anyone relisting discussions. I'm not saying the discussion shouldn't have been relisted but if you comment in it and then relist, someone else might think you are relisting to gain more time for like-minded editors to !vote like you. Again, not saying you thought that, but the appearance of bias is sufficient to potentially create problems. Regards SoWhy 19:03, 18 July 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Bould Design
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Bould Design requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Kleuske (talk) 15:28, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

Relisting AfDs
Please review the following two pages: WP:NOQUORUM (a guideline) and WP:Relist bias (an essay I wrote, which is basically what I would write here as a bit of criticism). I saw that you relisted Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/AMAC Accessibility, which had unanimous agreement for deletion among four editors with strong policy-based arguments. That is consensus to delete, and so it should not be relisted. Even if it were not consensus to delete, NOQUORUM would apply. ~ Rob13Talk 17:48, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
- Sorry BU Rob13, I had commented last night that I was wanted some time to look over the sources and then relisted it. Today I deleted my comment but forgot to delete the relist. Sorry for the trouble, and I will review the linked pages before doing more relisting. 18:11, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
- Ah, no worries. In that case, I'd recommend just commenting that you'd like more time rather than relisting. If you intend to review the sources as a closer, then it's best just to wait for another closer if you're heading offline (or get to it when you get back). If you intend to review the sources as a participant, then it's best not to relist (e.g. an administrative action) since you're somewhat involved. NOQUORUM explicitly states admins who believe the nomination may be controversial should not close as soft delete, so I would expect whichever admin who came along after you left such a comment to relist given your request. Hope this helps. ~ Rob13Talk 18:13, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

Please consider reverting your close here. I think it was inappropriate for a non-admin to consider closing it because it was controversial and delete was a possible outcome: non-admins lack the delete function, so we are naturally going to be biased against a close we can't make. Letting a neutral admin assess this one based on policy is the best way to go in my opinion. TonyBallioni (talk) 16:20, 19 August 2017 (UTC)

COI - of a different kind
Hi L3X1. Because it involves New Page and AfC reviewers along with other maintenance workers (SPI, COIN), an informal chat has begun on some aspects of paid editing. See Conflict of Interest - of a different kind. Please add your thoughts there. It is not a debate or RfC.

Third relists
Hey L3, I just wanted to drop you a quick a note because I have come across a number of AfDs that you've relisted lately. Several of them have been third relists, which according to WP:RELIST are generally meant as an extraordinary measure -- the exact wording is debates should not be relisted more than twice. So if you come across an AfD where the Lincoln-Douglas debates are going down after two relists, then that's definitely worth a third relist. But something like Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Sextones that only had two participants is probably best left to a no-consensus or a soft delete. Cheers! A Traintalk 20:57, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Could you please refrain from relisting AfDs when the consensus is perfectly clear. It just makes work for every one. Thanks. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk)

- It wasn't actually, DGG, I was thinking of another one, but if I had seen it I would have voted and the consensus would have been even clearer. New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 16,991 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a day.
Technology update:
- Rentier has created a NPP browser in WMF Labs that allows you to search new unreviewed pages using keywords and categories.
General project update:
- The Wikimedia Foundation Community Tech team is working with the community to implement the autoconfirmed article creation trial. The trial is currently set to start on 7 September 2017, pending final approval of the technical features.
- Please remember to focus on the quality of review: correct tagging of articles and not tagbombing are important. Searching for potential copyright violations is also important, and it can be aided by Earwig's Copyvio Detector, which can be added to your toolbar for ease of use with this user script.
- To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

False vandalism claim in SLCPD wiki.
Posting something which is likely to be true and is based on a demonstrably true event doesn't meet the definition of Vandalism that you linked to. What is compelling you to censor information about the assault on a nurse by the SLC Police Department? If you disagree with the edit, say so, your claim of vandalism is bs.

I don't know you but wonder if there is any way to get correct (Non-Bias) information back onto the William M. Branham page. Just wondering if there is something that can be done here. Back in 2014 I went to this page and it was fine: gave a correct story about the man, but recently I looked at it and it has many comments from anti-Branham people. I have tried to put some of the information back, only to have it quickly deleted. There is one man who stays in control of the site plus at least 2 others. Ten years after Branham's death Harrell wrote an accurate account of his life. 35 years after his death Weaver wrote another book calling him a liar and questioning many of the things that happened. There were several supernatural events, so if you're a staunch Baptist or something like that you may not wish to get involved. I understand that it is not politically correct to talk of miracles and healing. Sorry, I'm new to Wikipedia and don't know much about posting--just wanted to try to correct things that I could see were misleading and wrong. I tried to discuss changes with Darlig on the talk page (Newspaper Reference) but to no avail. I think I saw something on your page that shows how to see past edits. I would like to know how to do this. User:Danpeanuts 5:45, 5 September 2017

L3X1 - I hope you know that you did absolutely the right thing by filing that ANI report today and expressing your concerns. If you see something and it makes you feel legitimate concern out of respect for another editor (such as the exact situation that you thought may be happening), I want you to know that you, without a doubt, can say something and speak up without fear that we'll look down upon you if you're wrong. I'd much rather you say something and have us find out that it's nothing to worry about, than to have you feel intimidated or afraid to speak up with the fear of any "repercussions" of being incorrect and say nothing at all. Thank you for keeping an eye out for other editors like you do. It's an excellent reminder that we're all on the same team, and that having each others' backs is one thing that makes Wikipedia a fun place to be apart of. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:34, 13 September 2017 (UTC) |

French Language
Thanks for the message.
yes
But I will tell you that you must question the logic of Ethnologue its not accurate at all.
Think about it. France is population is 67 million, Switizerland's francophone population is about 2 million, Belgium's Francophone population is about 5 million, Canada's Francopopulation is around 9 million
67 + 2+5+9 = 83 million, which is more than 76 million.
However, after living in Cote d'ivoire and visiting many other african countries - there are sizable native francophone speakers in those countries. furthermore, wikpedia itself stated that the city of Adbijan and Libreville located in Africa have become majority first language francophone cities.
Given these fact; Ethnologue is inherently wrong and must be taken down. it does not at all give an accurate picture of the true native french speaking population.
you don;t even have to use sources just look at the facts based on reliable sources from other wikipedia pages.

Wikipedia's Advertisement/begging
So you've probably see this section of Wikipedia's little begathon: Most people ignore my messages. But I hope you’ll think about how useful it is to have unlimited access to reliable, neutral information. Please help keep Wikipedia online and growing.
Rather than beg for the moola, why not ask for people to join Wikipedia and help keep it reliable and neutral? Why not ask people to stop vandalising so our team of self-important vandal cops can actually do some content work? Why not preach the gospel of WP:NOT unto the masses so this encyclopedia isn't spammed into a business directory, Billboard/IMDB list, or a dating website?? - <sarcasm>I think that's a pretty close-minded view, L3X1. WMF is a struggling tech company trying to bring the world stuff like VisualEditor and the newest version of "Flow". Not only do the coders need pay but those coders need executive leadership who also need pay (requisite with their proven expertise) and those executives need nice furniture. Office space in San Francisco comes at a cost, too. I guess someone like you with no background in business doesn't understand that you don't need to ask for volunteers when they just show up. You NEVER ask fun-loving 10 year-olds not to do something because (reverse psychology) they absolutely will do that thing. It hurts us as a community when you, a lowly editor, question our betters at the home office. They need your unflinching support. They've been so nice in their appeals and the least we, as unpaid labor, can do is to trust them on the adult decision-making. But thanks, anyway, for making your feelings known on your own talk page versus venting on someone else's talk page.</sarcasm> Chris Troutman (talk) 15:42, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

CopyPatrol
Hi L3X1 and thank you very much for your help at Copypatrol. I think there's some improvements you could make to your work though. For example South African Polo Association you marked ad having no violation, though Earwig's Tool shows there's extremely close paraphrasing from two webpages (http://www.sapolo.co.za/about/history-of-polo-in-south-africa and http://www.sapolo.co.za/about/about-sa-polo). The article needs to be cleaned and revision deletion done on the article history. I think the best option for this particualr article is to list it at WP:CP so I am going to go ahead and do that.
Another example where you could have done better is Anzu Lawson, where you removed some suspected copyvio but did not request revision deletion. Revision deletion can be requested via adding the {{Copyvio-revdel}}
template, or if you're unsure how to use the template you can post a request on my user talk page and I will look after it for you. Your note on the editor's talk page should have mentioned the possible copyvio, either via a personal note or using one of the available templates.
Bob Backlund is another one you marked as "no action needed" that could have been handled better. The content added in this diff was copied form the Wikipedia article Antonio Inoki. Copying within Wikipedia without providing the required attribution is a violation of the terms of our CC-by-SA license. For more information on copying within Wikipedia, please see WP:copying within Wikipedia. What you have to do for these cases is add the required attribution like I did here and notify the user how to do it themselves in the future like I did here using the template {{uw-copying}}
.
We do appreciate your help but would also appreciate it very much if you could be more meticulous in the work. Please review the instructions at meta:CopyPatrol (and you might also consider reading Wikipedia:Copyright violations if you've not already done so). If there's any cases you're not sure about, think will be too time consuming, or you just don't feel up to tackling for any reason, please leave them for another patroller. I personally will ensure that all reports will get actioned within two days max, so there's no need for you to handle the trickier cases. Thanks again for your help. Please let me know if you have any questions. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 23:48, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
- Mea culpa, Diannaa, I will make sure to warn all violations and request rev-del. I also tracked down a copyvio request from June that was never actioned on here, if my memory doesn't fail me. Thanks for telling me about these issues and running Copy-Patrol. L3X1 (distænt write) 00:12, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 12,878 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a day.
- We have successfully cleared the backlog of pages created by non-confirmed accounts before ACTRIAL. Thank you to everyone who participated in that drive.
Technology update:
- Primefac has created a script that will assist in requesting revision deletion for copyright violations that are often found in new pages. For more information see User:Primefac/revdel.
General project update:
- The Article Wizard has been updated and simplified to match the layout style of the new user landing page. If you have not yet seen it, take a look.
- To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

C. W. Gilmore sandbox review?
Why did you review my Sandbox Page?
I stated in [3] that I used my sandbox to store information for my appear of the ban ruling which was: "You are not to edit Patriot Prayer or its talk page. Drmies (talk) 01:44, 11 October 2017 (UTC)" I stated that I was not editing said article in my sandbox, but merely gathering up information to use for my appeal. I don't understand the interest in my sandbox as this the 5th time some Administrator or editor has in some way been interested:
- How is this not a violation of your topic ban? You cannot be writing about Patriot Prayer at all, that's what a topic ban means. Darkness Shines (talk) 16:51, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- == Your are violating your topic ban ==
- This:"I don't even mention the article from which I am banned, that is too close to talking about it, but you are helping out there to keep the excesses of one POV pushing on that article" is a violation. Using Thanks for people who are editing the way you want them to is also a violation. The next step will be either a block or a site ban, but you can easily avoid that by not trying to test the boundaries. Up to you. Doug Weller talk 20:45, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
- C. W. Gilmore, please see this. The worst thing someone under a topic ban can do is seek out the limits of the topic ban. It is not a fruitful pursuit. Also, please don't use the term "harass" lightly. If there's actual harassment, make a case and report it, but don't thrown the term around like it's meaningless. Drmies (talk) 15:28, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- Blocked – 48 hours. Technically this is four reverts, even though the material varies. Gilmore has two previous edit warring blocks and a recent topic ban. Gilmore should not be editing about Patriot Prayer anywhere on Wikipedia, even in their own sandbox, and risks a sanction if they continue. EdJohnston (talk) 02:14, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
All this because I SAVED some conversations from the banned article's talkpage, that I planned to reference for my appeal??? I have not and will not violate the unjust ban, but I do plan on appealing it and that takes information from the said page(s). I had to answer each of these allegations time and again and each time, no violation was found, but I've feeling a bit harassed and none of this is helping my appeal since it seems that Administrators tend to glance over items and not read in depth, so each false accusation makes me look the worse. C. W. Gilmore (talk) 22:41, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hello C. W. Gilmore, I have no interest in your sandbox, and don't even remember what was in it. The only reason I saw it was because I was patrolling in WP:NPP using Special:NewPagesFeed with the criteria chanegd to show pages in the userspace. Thanks, L3X1 (distænt write) 00:21, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
- My apologies, as my sandbox has been at the centre of Darkness Shines latest jabs, as that some Administrators seem to take at face value without looking into the issues, lately. Thanks C. W. Gilmore (talk) 00:29, 28 October 2017 (UTC)

Request your guidance
Hello. I would like your input on a couple of things regarding the deletion of SharkLinux article. I reached out to the closer and in discussion things he/she has told me seems to condradict the policies as I read them. Also would like to ask a couple questions regarding the notability issue and how this was still not acheived after the additional sources I was able to put forward. In any sense Id appreciate a msg (privacy prefered) or at least a response here. Marpet98 (talk) 06:31, 11 October 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, sorry I forgot to address this. I will try to get back to you tomorrow/Monday. Thanks, L3X1 (distænt write) 02:01, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
- Marpet98 The draft currently has 7 sources, after the 2 duplicates it has 5. While Wiki.ubuntu and the FaceBook post verify information, they don't provide an indication of notability. (Being jumped to the front of the line for an advanced vetting does seem to be a pretty major achievement, though). 3 sources is cutting it pretty close for notability in most editors' eyes. Another 3 or 4 different news articles would probably suffice. Hope this helps, sorry for the late reply. L3X1 (distænt write) 16:05, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- L3X1 I appreciate your response. I think I misunderstood how the discussion process worked. My objective during this time was trying to show that SharkLinux met notability critera. The sources I was referring to were the extra sources I provided in the discussion. In my readings on notability policy It was my (mis)understanding that the existence of references and coverage worked towards notability and that they didnt specifically need to be sourced in the article. In the discussion, to establish notability and - being the basis of the nomination - avoid a delete, I provided a long list of references and scanned pages of a couple magazine articles that I couldnt find online. I was more puzzled that these were seemingly overlooked and I had failed to establish notability. You indicate the sources "as is" are dangerously borderline but a few more sources would have made the difference, am I correct? If so, my understanding of notability policy hindered my efforts as I specifically neglected to add more sources thinking providing the references in discussion was sufficient. These extra references were never sourced in the article because, while they establish notability, they were not used directly as a source for material written in the article. Im not sure of the proper handling of material that adds to notability but doesnt contribute directly to the written content of the article. For example; If I was pictured on the cover of The Rolling Stones - this certainly qualifies as notable but unless a reference is made to the RS cover appearance it wouldnt be listed in the article sources. Any advice you can offer or is there still something I seem to be "not getting" ? Again, I appreciate your time and pointing me in the right direction. Marpet98 (talk) 05:46, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
- I don't want to leave you hanging, it will be tomorrow when I respond. L3X1 (distænt write) 01:41, 21 October 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, Marpet98 additional sources will help prove the case. In my own writings I have struggled to incorporate extra sources and always found it to be a challenge as well. L3X1 (distænt write) 02:01, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Marpet98: If the citations corroborate facts that are already stated in the article, you could add them as further citations for the same statements. If they merely establish notability, you could simply add them at the end of the first sentence in Draft:SharkLinux. – Fayenatic London 08:54, 29 October 2017 (UTC) ((talk page stalker))
- You have both been very helpful and I want to thank you for your guidance. I know neither of you have any obligation to take the time to provide me assistance, please know I appreciate this tremendously. I have been tied up between work and acting as a 'housewife' to two girls 3ys/1yr now that my wife has returned to work from maternity leave. I will be making time to make inclusions/improvements to the article and will let you know when Ive made progress worth mentioning. I look forward to you seeing the improved version. Again, thank you. Marpet98 (talk) 11:59, 29 October 2017 (UTC)

I will be extremely AFK November 5-ish through the 8th, so if you're going to indef me, delete all my edits, and vandalise my talk page you should totally do it then, because internet doesn't exist the world around and because those actions AREN"T publicly logged so there is absolutely no way I would ever be able to find out, and eternally haunt, whoever did that. Not advising one way or the other, but, take your pick. If I miss your RfA, AfD, or RfC, please don't be offended. It's your own fault you filed those without me. [FBDB]

Speedy deletion nomination of Sambasiva Rao Nanduri
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Sambasiva Rao Nanduri, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. – Train2104 (t • c) 02:06, 25 November 2017 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like you to assume good faith while interacting with other editors, which you did not do on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tesla Semi. Please make your accusations of disrupting Wikipedia at WP:ANI, or do not post them.
Dennis Bratland (talk) 17:39, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- No point in going to ANI except to ask for sanctions. I have no desire to sanction you, as you do good work, and also one (I'll forget the first one, which was when you added the GNG tag to the article) case is not enough to receive sanctions. L3X1 (distænt write) 17:58, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- And you don't get to hide your deeds behind the cry of AGF! when I and others have discussed and warned you about them. If you believe I am ABFing by considering your nominations to be POINTy, then take me to ANI. L3X1 (distænt write) 18:13, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- I have no idea what kind of accusation you're making about Good Articles. All I can suggest is you try to learn how the review process for GA works. Please stop making baseless accusations. I will definitely be requesting action to stop this behavior if you keep it up. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 18:17, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- I never mentioned GAs.L3X1 (distænt write) 18:31, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
- Oh, GNG, not GA. My mistake. It still doesn't make any sense, but whatever. If you think an AfD is a vote, and you've got more than enough votes to win, then you should feel confident you will get what you want. Stop worrying. Adding a personal dispute on top of that doesn't help you. You've already got SPAs and dubious IP editors creeping around. Getting sandbagged with shenanigans is likely to to pull defeat from the jaws of victory. Quit while you're ahead. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 18:41, 25 November 2017 (UTC)
