[edit]I am a horse lover/ sort of geek. I have 3 horses of my own and ride. I ride English and a little bit of western, I jump, as well. - Hey, that's cool. I have 1 horse and ride mainly western but want to switch to saddle seat. It's always neat to see other horse people on WP! The main jumping article is ok but the ones on the different types of jumps are pretty bad if you're interested in that. There are also a ton of stubs about professional jumpers (horses and people). - I doubt there'll be any issues, but after it gets reviewed it can be a couple of weeks before it gets promoted to the prep area and then from there moved to the main page. I've had 4 articles there already and have 2 or 3 more that should be there before long, they are already nominated and reviewed. On the day it's on the main page we should all get a talk message saying "DYK for Naborr". (I have several of these old ones on my talk page). - I think that the weight limit is 126 pounds for a colt, 121 for a filly, and that includes the jockey, saddle and everything. The jockeys have to be very light. The horses themselves weigh probably one thousand to one thousand and two hundred pounds. The horses make the jockeys look even smaller. 🏇 White Arabian Filly Neigh 21:24, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

Sultan
[edit]Hope you don't mind that I took a whack at Supreme Sultan. I was going to review it for DYK for you, but saw it had some problems that would work against it passing, so decided to just go in and fix them. I figured out which sources verified what on all but one thing, which still has a [citation needed] tag. I also did some copyediting and fixed assorted content. Feel free to change or discuss anything that didn't work. This is a cool article and definitely a horse that should have a WP article! - I'll do a run-through as if I were a DYK or GAN reviewer and tag my thoughts. That said, I agree that you probably could get to prime time with it. When you do, be sure to add the article to List of horse breeds. Montanabw(talk) 03:00, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- Follow up: It is a looooong way from prime time now. The material is clearly cut-and-pasted from sources, as evidenced by the mangled English (only non-English speakers say "race" when they mean "breed"-- that's a dead giveaway). Copyvio is also a big deal on wikipedia and it is important to run the Earwig tool before going live too (here: https://tools.wmflabs.org/copyvios/) It has to be rewritten in normal English and in your own words. Also, be careful to note that the Chinese love to "spin" things from Tibet as being forever and ever part of China, it's a political hot potato that needs to be handled carefully. Also figure that you want to have at least one footnote per paragraph, minimum, and best to footnote everything to the source it came from. You'll get there. Also maybe look at the guidelines for horse breed articles here: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Equine/Horse_breeds#Structure_of_Articles I'm glad to help you as needed. - Yeah, even copying directly within wiki is not OK, though if you look at the talk page of Carl Raswan or you can see how to properly acknowledge a partial translation. The way I learned to do a lot of editing was to copy the formatting and syntax on good and featured articles. For a shorter breed article like this will be, take a look at Suffolk Punch or Kerry Bog Pony for ideas. Montanabw(talk) 19:20, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. [edit]Discovered that Lexington (horse) was not about Sherman's Lexington, the American Saddlebred ridden by William Tecumseh Sherman during the American Civil War. There's probably enough source material to do an article about him. (We have Traveller (horse), Blueskin and Nelson (horse) as examples.) - A sandbox draft would be great! That Chicago Trib article is interesting, but is odd because they name that horse "Sam" and claim he was part-Thoroughbred. But who knows? Wikipedia Asian Month 2017: Invitation to Participate

Hello! Last year, you signed up to participate in Wikipedia Asian Month (WAM) 2016 on the English Wikipedia. The event was an international success, with hundreds of editors creating thousands of articles on Asian topics across dozens of different language versions of Wikipedia.
I'd like to invite you to join us for Wikipedia Asian Month 2017, which once again lasts through the month of November. The goal is for users to create new articles on Asian-related content, each at least 3,000 bytes and 300 words in length. Editors who create at least four articles will receive a Wikipedia Asian Month postcard!

All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
