ATK Mohun Bagan (ATKMB)
Hi CaptainEek. Continuing from discord. So, the whole thing is regarding 2 Indian football clubs- ATK and Mohun Bagan (MB). ATK played in Indian Super League (ISL) (top tier league in India) and MB played in I-League (2nd tier league in India). MB is a century old club, and since the league in which they were playing was demoted to 2nd tier, they wanted to join the top tier. Both clubs are based in Kolkata.
- In January 2020, it was announced that, ATK owners bought 80% shares in MB and the clubs will merge together into a new football club to play in ISL. Official Press release from MB. Here's a twist. MB Athletic Club (MBAC) is the parent, under which it has departments like football, cricket, hockey etc. The football department is under this company "Mohun Bagan Football Club (India) Private Limited". ATK merged with this company and not with the parent MBAC. ATK plays only football and no other sports.
- As the official release said new club, a new article was created. (Keep in mind, MB's website said, it will be a new club).
- The new club was supposed to come into existence in 1 June 2020, but due to COVID, it was postponed to 10 July 2020.
- So, the announcement happened, club was named ATK Mohun Bagan (ATKMB) and colours, crest of MB were retained. The logo of MB was kept, but with some changes. (You can find the logos in MB article). Here came another twist. The social media handles of ATK were changed to ATKMB (here is the FaceBook page link. check the page history). The social media handles of MBAC were unchanged as the merger happened with the football department of MBAC. Official press release by ATKMB on 10 July.
- Just like a coin has 2 sides, the same happening here. As per the new press release of 10 July, it was mentioned that the sentiments of MB fans have been honoured, so the logo and colours retained. On the other hand, coach and players' contract extension like Habas (coach), edu garcia (player) were retained by ATK and they automatically became ATKMB players. Another example is this one. Here the post says "one-year extension" of Carl, who was in ATK squad. Whereas all the players and coaching staff were dismissed automatically from MB, without any mutual termination. This is a post from MB player, who had a long term deal with MB, but automatically cancelled without any notification Here is a ESPN article on this.
- Brad is a new player signed by ATKMB (link of post), where he says defending the ISL title, that ATK won in 2019-20 season. Tiri is another player signed by ATKMB, he also says winning again. Whereas, SK Sahil (link), a MB player, when signed for ATKMB, it was written Signed. For ATK players, its extension for MB players its signed. Even ISL's tweet mentioned it as signed.
- Coming to licensing with football associations. The clubs are affiliated/licensed to Indian Football Association IFA (state association) and All India Football Federation AIFF (national association). Here is the link of IFA letter, where ATK (owned by Kolkata Games and Sports) wants to disaffiliated. Also, MBAC wants to change to ATKMB. Now, lets come to AIFF website. ATKMB profile link in AIFF. Its rittenn 228 players registered, and it was previously ATK's profile. The address given is also oof ATK. This is MB profile link. Its written 0 players registered. AIFF secretary, referred it as marriage.
- The club will play in ISL. So, lets check ISL website. This is ATKMB profile on ISL website. It was previously of ATK. Just renamed to ATKMB. Here also, address is of ATK. The news article given is of ATK. Here are previous seasons (2014-2020) standings/points table of ISL. Everywhere its written ATKMB. So, as per ISL website, ATKMB won the past trophies and ATK to ATKMB is just a rebrand just like previously they changed from Atletico de Kolkata to ATK.
- here is a post from ISL. it says stronger together.
- Now, here are some tweets/retweets links by ATKMB. its related to foundation day of MB, and Mohun bagan day. tweet, retweet, tweet, retweet. Coach also wished happy mohun bagan day. Although I think, its expected as MB has 20% shares in the merged club, ATKMB. ATK's birthday is on 7th March, so as of now, we dont whether ATKMB will celebrate ATK's birthday just like it did about MB.
- Recently, ATKMB started using the hashtag used by MB before (#JoyMB). Emotionally MB is retained but technically ATK has been retained. If we consider technically, ATK has been rebranded multiple times, check the Facebook page history. And it seems like another rebranding. Some articles also say MB has ended [1], [2].
So this was the overall summary of the situation. Now coming to the discussions happened in wikipedia related to this-
- Talk:ATK (football club)#Nname
- Talk:ATK Mohun Bagan FC
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/ATK–Mohun Bagan
- Talk:Mohun Bagan A.C.
- Talk:Mohun Bagan A.C./Archive 2
- Talk:Mohun Bagan A.C./Archive 2#Merge proposal (here, the discussion was closed abruptly, otherwise in all other discussions, no clear consensus achieved)
The problem is a lot of canvassing, meatpuppeting, sockpuppeting going on. And the accounts are rigging the discussions. The list of accounts which came up since the discussions started. They never showed up, and their first contribution was saying FOR mohunbagan. I know how this works. Anyone of them shares the link and screenshots all over the facebook fan groups and accounts come to canvass. Here is the list of accounts-

- ArnabSaha, Thanks for putting all of this together. A few things:
- When posting on other people's pages, please try to do it all in one edit. You made some ten plus edits here...and I got a notification each time you did so...
- Okay, woweee, this is a hell of a discussion. I'll be honest: I haven't read all of the material, and I am not a sports fan...I know ball goes kick but not much else. However, I have skimmed what you've linked, and am not sure what is still at issue. The last serious merge proposal was closed as "merge". Do you think that close inappropriate? What still needs to happen here, in your view? CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 16:31, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry for the multiple notifications. I didn't know it notified separately. Also, it was big, so I wrote in parts.
- Yes, I think the last merge was inappropriate, as this is a consensus and not a debate, everyone's doubt should be cleared and come to an agreement. Which didn't happen there... It was closed abruptly.
- Please check the accounts I listed. ❯❯❯ S A H A 16:37, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
- @ArnabSaha: I don't see how the close, dated August 31, is incorrect? What have I missed in it? Also, I looked at a few of the folks. I'm not going through all of them for you. Some haven't edited in months, so why dump them here? If you want admin action taken, you are better off putting a report on the specific editors, with diffs/evidence, and dropping a case at WP:ANI. - On 30 August, I mentioned a point, which was overlooked. Also, most of the support votes were from brand new accounts.

I want to ask one more thing. Can I go for RfC? ❯❯❯ S A H A 17:00, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
- ArnabSaha, I mean, yeah, points get overlooked in discussions sometimes. If you think the close was wrong, you could challenge it an WP:AN. What would you make an RfC about? CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 17:13, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
- As a note though, ideally you should talk to the closer before challenging it at AN. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 17:13, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
- I want to take the whole thing in RfC and discuss from the beginning. A discussion with the closer was started by ArsenalFan700 regarding that, but nothing happened actually (User talk:GenQuest#ATK Mohun Bagan). So, I want to start afresh. ❯❯❯ S A H A 17:25, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
- ArnabSaha, There was a rename discussion opened yesterday, that has already been closed. I don't see how opening another will solve anything. Perhaps you can clarify: do you want to rename the page, create a new page...what result do you want to see? CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 17:38, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
- the rename discussions were also rigged. I will go for creating a new page, since the whole thing is 50-50. ❯❯❯ S A H A 17:42, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
- ArnabSaha, I mean, if you think it was rigged, you could ask for a review of the close at AN. I don't know if you would succeed, probably not, but it is an option. In terms of creating a new page, I mean...you need to get consensus to reverse the merge. You could just recreate the page I guess, but it would likely just get deleted straight up. I fail to see how you would get consensus to undo the merge...not even a month after it was closed as merge. You would need to present some very good new evidence that the clubs are separate or deserve seperate pages. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 17:47, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
- ya, obviously. I won't start a new page directly. I want to go for RfC/ARB for the reverse merge. My plan is 1st report the meatpuppets, then go for RfC/ARB. So, we have more opinions from regular/experienced editors. ❯❯❯ S A H A 18:24, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
- ArnabSaha, Yeah, I'd start with reporting the meat. I think going to the Arbitration Committee would be a very bad idea, I would say you'd need several unresolved ANI threads before even possibly thinking about Arbcom. Arbcom is a nearly infinite amount of drama, and is a last, last, last, last, last, last, last resort. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 18:16, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

- I also don't think RfC will work to solve the issue. As the first point says "If the article is complex or technical, it may be worthwhile to ask for help at the relevant WikiProject."
- The issue didn't solve at the wikiproject... ❯❯❯ S A H A 18:30, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
- ArnabSaha, Well it says that it may be worthwhile. Doesn't mean it will be. And if that fails, then more formal dispute resolution, such as an RfC, is usually needed. Again though, several requests for comment have already happened. But I see your point that SPA's and meatpuppets have potentially marred the outcome.
- If I'm being honest: I suggest you wait 3-6 months, and then open a new merging RfC. Its just too close to the last RfC. Ask me when you do so, and I can help you word one. Tag Single Purpose Accounts as they appear, and report meat/sockpuppets as they appear. If the article is at the wrong title for a few months, its hardly the end of the world, and hopefully new sources will appear that will clear up the issue. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 18:35, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
- I will then wait. Thank you very much. ❯❯❯ S A H A 05:48, 26 September 2020 (UTC)
New Teahouse Host
Hi. I just noticed that one of your mentees, Blacephalon, has signed themselves up as a Teahouse Host. I took a look at their past contributions there and feel they haven't yet got quite enough experience to really be able to help out as one of the team of hosts. I considered politely declining them with a WP:TOOSOON message, but I think this might be borderline (325 mainspace edits). So I just wanted to seek your input on this, bearing in mind that anyone can help answer any question at any time without adding themselves to the host list, but neither do I want to come across as dismissive or critical of their interest there. Regards, Nick Moyes (talk) 20:58, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Nick Moyes:Well I'm glad to see they're eager to help out, but it might be a bit premature for them to be a host. They are welcome to help where they think they can though. It might be easier for them to dip their feet in slowly and just answer a question here or there. They don't have tons of experience overall however, and if anything I'd encourage them to be asking questions instead of answering them :) CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 21:09, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks, that was helpful. On reflection, I think it would be churlish of me not to welcome or encourage them at this time. They actually have far more mainspace edits than Zindor who's host signup I've just endorsed. We can keep an eye on things and give them a steer, if it's needed. I do tend to remove Teahouse hosts who've been inactive for six months, anyway, especially if they are new and have never contributed there. BTW: I'm, impressed by how many new editors you've

As the state bird of Arizona, it is an icon of the Sonoran Desert."! - Congrats to what I believe is your first FAC! I had the 1 September one, and am still awfully proud ;) - I hope the birdie will fly high with mostly positive attraction. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:42, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

They are unique among the generally drab flycatchers due to their vibrant coloration."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:23, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

Content dispute between EEng and me
Hi,
Since you happen to be an admin, I need your help. I think User:EEng is trying to troll me. Is there a way to stop that kind of behavior? Ber31 (talk) 04:55, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
- Ber31, How is he doing that? CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 05:16, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
- This is an incidence that occurred on the page Harvard University. The Master of Arts earned by John Adams and John Quincy Adams were not earned through academic labor.[3] User:EEng reverted my edit.[4] I was trying to improve the page by adding well-sourced materials. EEng once again reverted my edit.[5] Reverting well-sourced materials is deleterious to the encyclopedia. Such behavior can demotivate others from contributing. Reverting someone's contributions with any discussion and trying to start the edit war is not something that you expect from a responsible editor. Contacting CaptainEek for help please
Dear CaptainEek, I last contacted you to help me add a photograph to my Wikipedia page and you very kindly helped. Recently I have had help from Cordless Larry, a Wikipedia volunteer person, who unblocked me and has helped me to change my Username. I am still waiting to hear if my Username change request has gone through, from Wwwedgoldcouk to EddieLeVisco. I now contact you again to ask for help please, as before, you were kind. I am writing to as if you can help me add more facts to my Wikipedia page. The page is lacking some information and because you were so efficient before, and you said I may ask you, I write again. I hope this message finds you well. Thank you for your time and help. EddieLeVisco (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Gold)Wwwedgoldcouk (talk) 07:41, 5 October 2020 (UTC)

- CaptainEek,Please let me know when you can help me include more information to my page, if that is possible. Thank youWwwedgoldcouk (talk) 18:12, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
- CaptainEek, Thank you very much for your patience and for your support. I will only send information one story at a time as I do not wish to ask for too much help, too fast. The issue is that I have over 100 newspaper stories about my work and I would like to include the main ones and fit them into my Wikipedia page in some sort of correct order of date. But perhaps there does not need to be any sequence by date and it doesn't matter, that is up to how much time you have to help me.
- Where my Wikipedia pages starts a paragraph with: "Gold has also spent time living amongst the..." please could you insert, before "...and the US Army at the..." a mention of me documenting the Canadian British Columbia First Nation reservation 'Prophet River' where the Dane-zaa, historically referred to as the Beaver tribe by Europeans, are an Athabaskan-speaking group of First Nations people. This newspaper article was written by FORT NELSON NEWS on Wednesday 14 October 2015 and also BBC News published an online news piece using my work here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-34667118. - CaptainEek, Thank you for your response. I am inexperienced navigating around Wikipedia and it has taken me one month of attempts to get as far as contacting you. I will try to work out how to post my request on the talk page of my article and would like to ask you, will my written request show up on my page like this request here to you shows up on your talk page? I don't wish to litter my page with lots of writing like this as, to me, it looks unprofessional. You helped me once before and said you would be willing to help me again, so can you give me an idea of how long I might wait, to receive your help in the future or, are you saying an outright no to being able to help me? I am about to release a commercial magazine of my own and would like my Wikipedia page to be up to date for visitors. If you cannot help, please could you list, in very simple and basic terms, instructions for exactly how I can go about asking others for help please i.e. a numbered list of what to navigate to. Thank you for your time.Wwwedgoldcouk (talk) 08:24, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
- Wwwedgoldcouk, As long as you edit the talkpage of your article, and not the article itself, you should be good. I should be able to help again, but I am quite busy IRL for the next month or two as I take law school entrance exams. In the meantime, I suggest you ask at the TeaHouse for help, the top of the page has very simple instructions for how to ask for help there. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 19:46, 8 October 2020 (UTC)

Hi Captain Eek, you suggestd me to upload to existing article on Sleep disorders in Anti-IgLON5 disease which i have made the first edit .Kindly let me know.--NandanYardi (talk) 01:54, 15 October 2020 (UTC)

Help reviewing article draft
Hi CaptainEek, in November 2019 you reviewed and rejected Draft:Memsource. I've taken the time to go through it and I've made comprehensive edits, which I think might address your concerns about notability. I've added new and relevant sources (which were not available before November 2019) and I've removed a lot of the unsourced statements and trivial sources. I was wondering whether it would be possible to have another look at it and see if there's anything else that could be done to improve or approve it.
For the sake of full disclosure, I do have a potential conflict of interests: I work in the language technology sector and have had a professional relationship with Memsource.
All the best, Aie555 (talk) 10:54, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
- Aie555, You are free to submit it for review again, I see the one journal source as promising, but otherwise I do not currently have the time to help you much with your draft. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 05:14, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
- CaptainEek The draft was unfortunately rejected and apparently I cannot get it reviewed until this is resolved. Would you perhaps consider reversing the rejection? Thanks Aie555 (talk) 14:34, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
- Aie555, I have resubmitted it on your behalf. Something that will speed up your review is finding a URL link to the first two sources if possible. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 20:07, 15 October 2020 (UTC)

Vichy France
Nice job rewriting the lead at Vichy France. Is this a particular topic area of interest for you, or just an article in dire need of improvement? In any case, it certainly was, and you certainy did. Thanks! Mathglot (talk) 07:52, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
- Mathglot, Thanks! I have a lot of fun rewriting leads as of late, since there are a ton of articles with really, really, bad leads. But leads are often the only thing people read, so its important they be the best part of an article! I do quite like WWII issues, but I'm a fan of history. I've also done lead overhauls for October Revolution, Battle of Mogadishu (1993), Fall of the Republic of Venice, and I plan to keep doing it. If you have any articles that you think are in need of a better lead, lemme know! I quite I enjoy tackling leads. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 19:55, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
- Darn, had a reply all ready to go, and lost it. Shorter version: you can use the what-links-here link in the left sidebar on templates like {{rewrite lead}} and these others: Wikipedia:Template_index/Cleanup#Introduction.
- Have several articles under development in Draft, which will probably need attention after release, but now is too soon. Had a lot more in that response, but this will have to do for now. Thanks again, Mathglot (talk) 02:50, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
Captain Eek, One other thing regarding Vichy: the new lead makes a misleading statement about STO (service de travail obligatoire; "obligatory labor service"), implying that soldiers were the object of STO. This is false. At first glance I assumed that might've been an oversight, and I was just going to correct it in the lead. I double checked the body of the article, just to make sure the body coverage was accurate regarding STO. And lo and behold, the body also implies that soldiers were the object of STO. So, the good news is, that when rewriting the lead, you faithfully summarized the content of the body of the article including what it currently says regarding STO. The bad news is, the claims in the body are false; the object of STO were civilians brought in from France, sort of like in a draft; and they were neither prisoners, nor soldiers.
Is this something you'd like to work on? It's a bit urgent, because the article is so very misleading in its current state about a major feature of Vichy (and one of the things that later led to its demise), but I'm swamped right now. If you can't, I'll go do a quick slash-and-burn, but it won't be pretty. There's a dedicated article at Service du travail obligatoire which explains pretty well what the STO program was all about. Let me know if you can't, because this really needs attention; it's kind of shockingly wrong right now. (please mention me on reply; thanks!), Mathglot (talk) 18:22, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
- Mathglot, Oh dear, I'll take a look. That's one problem with rewrites: if the article is wrong...the lead can be wrong. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 19:34, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, which is why it's in no way on you; that rewrite was great! Thanks for taking a look; S.T.O. was a very big deal in occupied France; if I were doing the update, I'd add a new subsection for it under sect. 5 Collaboration with Nazi Germany, call it "Forced labor program" and then have a {{Main}} link to the STO article. Then, a summary of that added subsection could be included in a sentence in the Lead. There's a sentence about it at Occupied France#Oppression which could be useful as a brief summary for the lead, but it lacks a citation; the STO article has a few. Thanks again, Mathglot (talk) 19:49, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
- Post-script: had another look at the STO article, and there's one kind of important question even that article doesn't answer, which is whether STO was limited to the unoccupied, southern zone (aka., "free zone", aka Vichy France) or whether they also drafted civilians from the occupied, northern zone under direct Nazi military administration. It definitely applied to Vichy; after all, they wrote the law creating the STO (under Nazi force, of course). Then again, in *theory*, Vichy controlled all of France, including the occupied zone. So, did they also draft civilians out of the north as well? I'm pretty sure they did; but I don't see a definitive answer anywhere. You might have to back to the sources to answer that question, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. I'd start with an encyclopedia article about STO, if you have access to one; that ought to quickly settle the issue. I speak French, in case you need help with any French sources. Your public library probably gives you e-access to some encyclopedias. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 20:04, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
Help
Hello Captain Eek, do you think you could please assist me with something? Lima Bean Farmer (talk) 08:43, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Lima Bean Farmer: Don't ask to ask, just ask. What do you need help with? CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 16:47, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
- Well, I was adding sources to the Biden 2020 endorsement page that were not covered by independent sources as well as a few from websites like medium.com which was not right, per endorsement standards. So, another editor deleted the citations and I didn’t add them back or anything, but then I added names from a tribal news source (which I’m still not sure why it’s unreliable), but the point is that I should have asked at the talk page before making mass edits, especially since they’re living people. But anyways, an admin reported me to the admin’s noticeboard for a mainspace ban on, based on their wording, that page only. Anyway, another admin almost immediately placed a block on me for all 1932 and beyond politics including talk pages. I was not aware of how extreme this was so I started making suggestions on talk pages and was told I would be blocked if I did it again (I also made an article about an lgbtq organization but they said that was also against the rules since the organization endorses candidates). So I asked the admin who suggested a ban and they said they’d support it being lifted off of mainspace pages if I appealed at the admin’s noticeboard. This made me very excited, because I thought at least I could make comments and suggestions, and if I suggest something that is not reliable or independent, I can ask about it, and it would also be a good learning experience for me. So I appeal at the admin’s noticeboard and the user who suggested the ban immediately comments that they do not support the lowering of the ban. This, quite obviously, caused almost all of the other admins/commentating editors to oppose the lowering of the ban. My point is, this ban is extreme and I do not feel like I can really edit much with it in place. Not only is my ability to edit compromised but also I’m in fear I’ll add something that gets me blocked indefinitely and there’s no way anyone will see my appeal to that. So, if you think I’m asking you to unban me at this point, I’m not. However, from an uninvolved admin’s point of view, what could I do/show you that would get me unbanned? Again, I’m not asking you to unban me, I’m just asking what you’d be looking for so that my next appeal to the other admins goes more smoothly. Thank you for your time. Lima Bean Farmer (talk) 19:28, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
- Lima Bean Farmer, Give it a rest. Please stop canvassing admins. You have posted on the talks of far more admins than is recommendable. If you keep it up, one of them is going to block you for good.
- Topic bans aren't fun, but the current agreement is that this one is necessary, at least until after the election I imagine. In the meantime, I suggest you find something else to edit. What are you interested in? Your name is Lima Bean Farmer, you could pull a Earwig (who famously took Earwig to GA) and improve the page on Lima beans. I think its good to have non-political editing areas too. I occasionally dabble in politics, but I don't do it often because it is toxic and not much fun. Thus I work on birds and ships and history. You must like some other things, I can try to point you in a direction you would enjoy :) Let me know. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 20:01, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
- I found another article that's missing a green plus sign. Natureium (talk) 20:06, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for getting back to me, I appreciate your help. I do have many other interests, but I would just have too much trouble improving content articles since I am not a good writer. That’s why politics was so easy for me, mostly just lists, and other than the type of source, endorsements were mostly obvious. I have worked on war criminal lists and people who’ve committed treason, but that can understandably get a bit depressing (mainly Nazis and people who worked to kill world leaders). If you can think of any lists that need work to be done, please let me know. If not, I appreciate your time/help! Lima Bean Farmer (talk) 22:58, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

- Any of those sounds great! Specifically, I like history and even non-American government and politics. Lima Bean Farmer (talk) 23:42, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
- Well, I was unblocked, but it was rough. I appreciate your help with that. I will be keeping a low profile for the next month, making edits for quality, not quantity. Not only so that I have a chance at getting unbanned but also because if I make many mistakes, I will probably be blocked out of incompetence. Just wanted to let you know my plan, I completely understand if you are no longer interested in helping me find a project, I am probably the most disliked editor on Wikipedia (just kidding, but I bet quite a few others will be tracking me closely over the next few days). I just wanted to thank you again for your help, happy editing! Lima Bean Farmer (talk) 01:36, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

- Lima Bean Farmer, Found a few, and if anything hopefully it gets you headed in the right direction
- List_of_cat_breeds needs better sourcing
- List of fictional felines Just plain interesting
- List_of_cats Inclusion criteria unclear, probably needs trimming down
- Category:Lists of women's association football players by national team Lot of possibilities here
- List_of_flora_of_the_Mojave_Desert_region Provided as an example, there are also fauna lists, and you can find a list for almost every major region
- If you are interested in birds I have access to several subscription only bird publications, for the other subjects the Wikipedia Library should give you all the access you need. If not, the resource exchange is a good place to ask, as can be the TeaHouse.
- Hope this sets ya in the right direction :) CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 05:20, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

I currently am not planning on going to law school (although who knows, I’ve got plenty of time to think about it) but both of my parents went to law school, and based on their stories, it is not something easy. That’s why I greatly appreciate you taking the time to help me. Good luck with your studies and for the eventual test! And for your information, I am very interested in birds. UK Air Training Corps Ranks
Hi, can you provide citation for the change in the listed ranks for officers in the Air Training Corps article? You link to an OTRS ticket which is not accessible, so provides no citation for the change. - Cdjp1 (talk) 12:26, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- Cdjp1, In the edit I included [6], but realize I forgot to include [7]. I have gone and included it. [8] was also provided, but I don't think that is reliable. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 16:30, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- The MOD PDF makes no mention of any ranks. The Air Cadet website mentions no ranks below Pilot Officer or above Wing Commander. Air Cadet 101, isn't official, but is the only one of the three that shows the ranks in questions. Here is an official Squadron website that provides a slide provided by HQ Air Cadets regarding rank slides [9], this supports the change you have made. Here is another Squadron website that shows the standard Group Captain rank slide, [10], this is also in line with who Group Captains are in the Air Training Corps, those commissioned using the Cadet Forces Commission (CFC) wear rank slides showing RAFAC, where as Group Captains in the Air Training Corps are not commissioned using the CFC and are instead commissioned officers of the Royal Air Force Reserve, and so do not wear RAFAC insignia (this was the case as well when it was the VR(T) commission before the CFC). The Ambassador to the Air Cadets is commissioned under the CFC and so wears Group Captain ranks which show the RAFAC as opposed to the standard Group Captain ranks. You can see here that Group Captain Mark Leeming (Group Captain for the North Region) does not wear RAFAC identifiers on his No.1 Uniform. The same can be seen of the Wales and West Region Group Captain and the South West Region Group Captain. Whilst the official regulations for Air Cadet uniform ACP 1358C does show the RAFAC Group Captain rank slide as would be worn by the Ambassador to the Air Cadets, though this dress regulation would not apply to the Group Captains who act as Regional Commandants due to being part of the RAF Reserve (and so subject to AP1358) - Cdjp1 (talk) 17:21, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- Cdjp1, To be honest, I don't really understand this very well -- I'm a naval person not an air person :) -- so I invite you to make whatever change you think appropriate, as you seem to have a pretty solid grasp of it. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 17:29, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- I'll try to find out info for the Officer Cadet/Acting Pilot Officer and where that actually stands, but for now I'll just change back the Group Captain Part. - Cdjp1 (talk) 17:32, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

WikiCup 2020 November newsletter
The 2020 WikiCup has come to an end, with the final round going down to the wire. Our new Champion is Lee Vilenski (submissions), the runner-up last year, who was closely followed by Gog the Mild (submissions). In the final round, Lee achieved 4 FAs and 30 GAs, mostly on cue sport topics, while Gog achieved 3 FAs and 15 GAs, mostly on important battles and wars, which earned him a high number of bonus points. The Rambling Man (submissions) was in third place with 4 FAs and 8 GAs on football topics, with Epicgenius (submissions) close behind with 19 GAs and 16 DYK's, his interest being the buildings of New York.
The other finalists were Hog Farm (submissions), HaEr48 (submissions), Harrias (submissions) and Bloom6132 (submissions). The final round was very productive, and besides 15 FAs, contestants achieved 75 FAC reviews, 88 GAs and 108 GAN reviews. Altogether, Wikipedia has benefited greatly from the activities of WikiCup competitors all through the contest. Well done everyone!
All those who reached the final will receive awards and the following special awards will be made, based on high performance in particular areas of content creation. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, these prizes are awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round, or in the event of a tie, to the overall leader in this field.
- Gog the Mild (submissions) wins the featured article prize, for a total of 14 FAs during the course of the competition.
- Bloom6132 (submissions) win the featured list prize, for 5 FLs in round 4.
- Rhododendrites (submissions) wins the featured picture prize, for 3 FPs in round 3 and 5 overall.
- Lee Vilenski (submissions) wins the featured article reviewer prize, for 23 FAC reviews in round 5.

Your draft article, Draft:List of endangered plants in Arizona
Hello, CaptainEek. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "List of endangered plants in Arizona".

If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. Block of Philip H Taylor
- Philip H Taylor (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
Greetings! You had blocked this user based on legal threats. The user has retracted those threats. I don't think there's obvious sockpuppetry going on with this user. Do you have any concerns about their conduct or conditions that should be imposed if they were to be unblocked? —C.Fred (talk) 17:37, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- @C.Fred: I think there's a COI/PAID issue that I would check before unblocking too. In fact I'm pretty certain he intimated he was being paid, so he needs to clearly disclose that first. Otherwise I'd just keep an eye on him if unblocked as he was pretty disruptive previously. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 18:29, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- And that concerns me about his behaviour. He went back and forth. He did admit he was paid, then walked back and said he wasn't paid, but yet he was a manager.... I'd be tempted to offer an unblock with a topic ban, but I don't think he'd go long without violating it. —C.Fred (talk) 19:01, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- @C.Fred: My take: if you're gonna unblock, partial block him from th mainspace so he can only make edit requests. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 19:06, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

In response to your comment on my talk page: the Planned presidential transition of Joe Biden article could not be moved directly to Presidential transition of Joe Biden because the latter was occupied by a redirect to the former. Just so you know. RandomCritic (talk) 16:25, 8 November 2020 (UTC)

I am skeptical about those two sailors whose bows you fired a warning shot across. I think that they will be back. - Yes. The riot act was originally a command by the authority of the King of England to end a breach of the peace that was already illegal. The riot act just increased the penalties. Similarly, disruptive editing is already against the rules, even before the riot act is read. We shall see. Robert McClenon (talk) 22:36, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
- By the way, I respectfully disagree with SoftLavender's criticism of you for filing an ArbCom case when you didn't know what it was about. It wasn't important to know what the content issues were (and two chemists addressed them, and they aren't that important, and ArbCom does not decide content). What was clear about conduct is that multiple editors used so many words that it was hard to understand what the issues were, and that is a conduct issue in itself. Besides, five trips to WP:ANI with no resolution is about three too many, or five too many. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:40, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

I am Paptilian.
Do you seek adoption? I am willing to take on dedicated and inquisitive newbies into my crew. If you're interested, leave a note on my talk page asking for adoption, and explaining what you'd like to get out of the process.
- https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Paptilian/Official_State_of_Colorado,_U.S.A._Article_Project.&action=edit&redlink=1 Deleted. This page holds all my research, may I have it back. First, I do seek adoption, I am sorta nautical, but am Air Force vet. I am autodidact along with many other brain disfunctions. I research everything, especially those things I am proud to associate myself with like Wikipedia. And Colorado. I use my User:Paptilian as a home for my research, in the process, I edit small and try not to make a nuisance of myself. I believe I have a trainable knack as a Wikipedian. I also believed my User page was my personal stuff and is why this page was created, I am now feeling the devastation at the destructive removal of my research from whence I can't retrieve. So be that if it must. I was in the process of answering Deletion notices when I realized maybe I should copy the work to my computer. Alas, So I know there are ways around this mess without a bunch of hooplah, Therefore, Captain, for I surely know Commander, I request and honorably seek adoption. New Page Patrol December Newsletter
Hello CaptainEek,
- Year in review
It has been a productive year for New Page Patrol as we've roughly cut the size of the New Page Patrol queue in half this year. We have been fortunate to have a lot of great work done by Rosguill who was the reviewer of the most pages and redirects this past year. Thanks and credit go to JTtheOG and Onel5969 who join Rosguill in repeating in the top 10 from last year. Thanks to John B123, Hughesdarren, and Mccapra who all got the NPR permission this year and joined the top 10. Also new to the top ten is DannyS712 bot III, programmed by DannyS712 which has helped to dramatically reduce the number of redirects that have needed human patrolling by patrolling certain types of redirects (e.g. for differences in accents) and by also patrolling editors who are on on the redirect whitelist.

9 | Hughesdarren (talk) | 4,520 | Patrol Page Curation |
10 | Utopes (talk) | 3,958 | Patrol Page Curation |
- Reviewer of the Year
John B123 has been named reviewer of the year for 2020. John has held the permission for just over 6 months and in that time has helped cut into the queue by reviewing more than 18,000 articles. His talk page shows his efforts to communicate with users, upholding NPP's goal of nurturing new users and quality over quantity.
- NPP Technical Achievement Award
As a special recognition and thank you DannyS712 has been awarded the first NPP Technical Achievement Award. His work programming the bot has helped us patrol redirects tremendously - more than 60,000 redirects this past year. This has been a large contribution to New Page Patrol and definitely is worthy of recognition.

As Floq, the administrator who had placed the original interaction ban, is inactive, I am turning to you. This remark (and the addendum mention to DS) can be reasonably construed to be a violation of the proviso make reference to or comment on each other anywhere on Wikipedia, directly or indirectly

Unrelated IBAN question
Captain, I believe I received inaccurate advice[15] about appealing my IBAN; would you help clarify this for me? I would like to eventually appeal the IBAN (to change it to one-way in the opposite direction) by relitigating the cases which led to it; would that be appropriate? But my immediate concern is about how to deal with behavior which I have encountered since the IBAN. I was told that I should demonstrate that I am no longer bringing complaints against them
, but I feel I must bring a complaint against them to immediately amend the IBAN to two-way. May I discuss my recent experience with the editor here? Kolya Butternut (talk) 22:52, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
- Kolya Butternut, While I may have just answered a question above about IBANs, I really am not an expert in them, and generally work in other areas. You can always appeal at WP:AE,WP:AN or WP:ARCA. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 00:04, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for the response. Is there another admin you could recommend who could clarify this for me before I wade into noticeboard waters? I did just read the following from "Important: Appeals and administrator modifications of sanctions" at WP:AE: "
Nothing in this section prevents an administrator from replacing an existing sanction issued by another administrator with a new sanction if fresh misconduct has taken place after the existing sanction was applied
", which could mean a noticeboard complaint is unnecessary. Kolya Butternut (talk) 00:12, 15 December 2020 (UTC)- Kolya Butternut, Can't say I have anyone in particular in mind, I suggest an AE regular. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 00:14, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

Cite Unseen update
Hello! Thank you for using Cite Unseen. The script recently received a significant update, detailed below.
- You can now toggle which icons you do or don't want to see. See the configuration section for details. All icons are enabled by default except for the new generally reliable icon (described below).
- New categorizations/icons:
- Advocacy: Organizations that are engaged in advocacy (anything from political to civil rights to lobbying). Note that an advocacy group can be reliable; this indicator simply serves to note when a source's primary purpose is to advocate for certain positions or policies, which is important to keep in mind when consuming a source.
- Editable: Sites that are editable by the public, such as wikis (Wikipedia, Fandom) or some databases (IMDb, Discogs).
- Predatory journals: These sites charge publication fees to authors without checking articles for quality and legitimacy.
- Perennial source categories: Cite Unseen will mark sources as generally reliable, marginally reliable, generally unreliable, deprecated, and blacklisted. This is based on Wikipedia's perennial sources list, which reflects community consensus on frequently discussed sources. Sources that have multiple categorizations are marked as varied reliability. Note that generally reliable icons are disabled by default to reduce clutter, but you can enable them through your custom config. A special thanks to Newslinger, whose new Sourceror API provides the perennial sources list in a clean, structured format.
- With the addition of the new categorizations, the biased source icon has been removed. This category was very broad, and repetitive to the new advocacy and perennial sources categorizations that are more informative.
If you have any feedback, requested features, or domains to add/remove, don't hesitate to bring it up on the script's talk page. Thank you! ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 23:23, 20 December 2020 (UTC)

2021 Arbitration Committee
The Arbitration Committee welcomes the following new and returning arbitrators following their election by the community. The two-year terms of these arbitrators formally begin on 01 January 2021:
- Barkeep49 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
- BDD (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
- Bradv (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
- CaptainEek (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
- L235 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
- Maxim (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
- Primefac (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
All incoming arbitrators have elected to receive (or retain, where applicable) the CheckUser and Oversight permissions.
We also thank our outgoing colleagues whose terms end on 31 December 2020:
- DGG (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
- GorillaWarfare (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
- Joe Roe (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
- Mkdw (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
Outgoing arbitrators are eligible to retain the CheckUser and Oversight permissions, remain active on cases accepted before their term ended, and to remain subscribed to the functionaries' and arbitration clerks' mailing lists following their term on the committee. To that effect:
- Stewards are requested to remove the permission(s) noted from the following outgoing arbitrators after 31 December 2020 at their own request:
- Oversight: Joe Roe
- Outgoing arbitrators are eligible to remain active on cases opened before their term ended if they wish. Whether or not outgoing arbitrators will remain active on any ongoing case(s) will be noted on the proposed decision talk page of affected case(s).
- All outgoing arbitrators will remain subscribed to the functionaries' mailing list
- DGG, Joe Roe, and Mkdw will be unsubscribed from the arbitration clerks' mailing list at their request.
For the Arbitration Committee,

- Congratulations; I' m glad you will be there to replace me (you especially, but and that goes for the other new people also). We may overlap on one case. and if there's one think I like, it's giving advice. . Especially when I'm safely out of the war zone. DGG ( talk ) 06:43, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- @DGG: Thanks for the kind words :) Sad I won't be able to serve with you much, but very grateful for your service. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 06:56, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

– Should be an interesting year. Would you mind if some of us started a pool? EEng 22:39, 23 December 2020 (UTC)- Meh, it's artistic license. Captain Eek is now one of the Mighty Morphin Power Arbs. We just call them arbs (but not arbies), and we are also aware that arb is short for arbitrageur. Find a YouTube video for that one. Atsme 💬 📧 00:04, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

- Atsme, I would never turn down rum in my stocking! Becoming an arbiter, well that sure is a unique stocking stuffer :P Though given the price of coal, I still don't think I'd turn coal down either. I've always wanted a coal forge to do metal working with (I make knives from time to time), but coal is pretty expensive at the consumer level, so I just use propane. Template protection
Hi. I noticed that you protected Template:COVID-19 pandemic data/Indonesia medical cases chart several months ago. May I ask if you are inclined to accepting a request to protect a template or two and using a reason that is similar to this and this? I have not yet linked the templates here. LSGH (talk) (contributions) 10:36, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
- LSGH, I could yes, but why not just ask at RFPP? CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 17:48, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
- I've also thought of going there, but I am not sure if such a reason will always convince other admins to apply protection. LSGH (talk) (contributions) 00:59, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
- I made a request a few days ago, but it was declined. I'm having problems with those templates lately. LSGH (talk) (contributions) 04:34, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
- LSGH, If an admin at RFPP declined a request, then I'm not going to accept it either. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 06:31, 24 December 2020 (UTC)

Welcome to Milhist!
Hello CaptainEek and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you are interested, or you can add it directly to your user page by copying the following: {{WPMILHIST Announcements}}.
- Important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, writing contests, and article logistics.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a set of guidelines that cover article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.
- If you're looking for something to work on, there are many articles that need attention, as well as a number of review alerts.
- If you would like to receive the project's monthly newsletter, The Bugle, please sign up here.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask any of the project coordinators or any other experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome, and we are looking forward to seeing you around! Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 05:49, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

That one resolved, what do you think of Hippolyte et Aricie? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:28, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
- Gerda Arendt, I find it a bit strange as to why the infobox was removed. IMO, both the Ramaeu opera navbox and an infobox would be useful additions, as both are helpful to the reader at a glance. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 20:35, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you, but see, you may have heard of the infoboxes wars (pictured) where that doesn't count but the wish of a former editor of that article who hasn't edited in years, but didn't like infoboxes when he did. For thoughts like yours, I was restricted by our almighty arbitration committee, - you better be careful ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:45, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Curved-Billed Thrasher FA
Hello CaptainEek,
I can try to assist you, but it will have to be somewhat sparingly. I am currently a graduate student in the middle of a Ph.D. program, so my time is a bit limited, sadly, since I have to both teach and research for the next several semesters before I finish. But I totally am for you trying to get this paper to an FA status! You have my blessings if that is what you wanted!! :) It was my dream to get all of the Toxostoma pages to be at least GA, if not FA status, several years ago, but that was back when I was an undergraduate and Wikipedia edits were much, much, easier to tackle.
I usually do not respond to my Wikipedia messages anymore, but I happened to see it at random today while searching for other emails, so your longshot worked out!! Let me know what you want from me going forward! LeftAire (talk) 19:08, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
