Change second sentence

[edit]

The article's second sentence currently reads It featured a total of 31 tropical or subtropical cyclones, with all but one cyclone became a named storm. I would normally immediately change the word "became" to "becoming" as a grammar issue, but I've had some problems with WP:BOLD lately, so here I am. 🐔 Chicdat  Bawk to me! 10:56, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Storm tracks deleted

[edit]

Can someone please re-add the tracks for the storms? The storm infoboxes now don’t look good because someone decided to delete the tracks. VehicleandWeatherEnthusiast2022 (talk) 00:00, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Trimming

[edit]

As this article was tagged for being rather lengthy for readers, I have proposed a strategy for trimming this article. I believe as opposed to shortening the meteorological history, I believe the impacts of each storm should be removed unless… A) They are notable storms such as "Laura" or "Sally." or B) They don’t have an article nor meet the requirements for one.

It may also be necessitated that storms that did not get article for lack of fatalities or monetary damage, but still had some land impact, to get articles. These include Edouard, Gonzalo, and Vicky. Let me know any suggestions/concerns or alternate strategies you may have. Thank you!IrishSurfer21 (talk) 02:58, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

IrishSurfer21 (talk · contribs) - I think you may have removed too much. I would rather have some limited impacts included rather than have the entire met history. I'm working through and tweaking how much info is in each section. For instance, you reverted my rewrite for Arthur, which mentioned the (limited) impacts. But your edit to Cristobal even removed the impacts which were fairly substantial. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 22:48, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your edits to Arthur removed a bit too much as well. I feel like Arthur was perfectly fine beforehand honestly. I think the tag is focusing more on the Greek Alphabet storms and Sally, which are all very overfluffed. I don’t think most of the storms before Josephine need to be changed now.IrishSurfer21 (talk) 23:01, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Especially Zeta, I am surprised this passed GA with that much overfluffing of a section. IrishSurfer21 (talk) 23:03, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well you removed all of the impacts, that's an issue. Every season article has some sort of impact. When I rewrote the Arthur section, I had a brief summary of the met history and the impacts. You reverted that and instead it focuses on the first special weather outlook, which isn't nearly as important as the fact of when the storm actually formed (and thus began the season). Similarly, the fact that recon identified the winds isn't that important in the grand scheme of things, not when the article is supposed to be streamlined. Each storm still needs to get the right amount of information, so I wholly disagree with your approach on focusing more on the met history instead of on impacts. Impacts are not "fluff". ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 23:22, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
