An aside
[edit]By the way, I think you do some very valuable work here. Hip hop coverage is very underdone, so we need more younger editors (most are old men who edit about history)[Humor]. Sad Frosty will get deleted. Don't let that discourage you: most editors here have had an article or two deleted. I have one. It happens to be the best of us. —VersaceSpace 🌃 00:07, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
- I appreciate it a lot. It's been so frustrating trying to create articles for rappers without them being deleted. I've spent so many times trying to make one for Ken Carson and Destroy Lonely. Célestin Denis (talk) 00:23, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
- Ken Carson is notable, and you're making good progress! So that seems likely to work out well. Hopefully Destroy Lonely goes over well too. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. I actually work in this topic a lot, so I can give you good insight =P —VersaceSpace 🌃 00:30, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
- Do you think the draft for Ken Carson would be ready to be moved in mainspace? Célestin Denis (talk) 00:36, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, I'll move it when you remove the other draft you pasted to the bottom. BTW, you're not supposed to do that without crediting the author. —VersaceSpace 🌃 00:38, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
- Someone just added the draft someone put at Draft:Ken Car$on for me to merge with the other draft article which I did. I kept the verifiable information and left the other. Célestin Denis (talk) 00:40, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
- I moved it to the mainspace; btw, if you add 100 more letters to the article, there may be something cooler you can do with it —VersaceSpace 🌃 00:47, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
- Ik I might be annoying, but I was wondering if you thought SSGKobe, Lancey Foux and BabyTron would be ready for the mainspace. Célestin Denis (talk) 01:36, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
- You're not annoying. I'd rather you asked me than receive proverbial lashings from an admin. I'll look through them and comment as I see fit. —VersaceSpace 🌃 02:13, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
- I second what VS said above. The first ever article I wrote on this encyclopedia was declined as being a hagiography rather than a biography. My two cents are that one needs to understand both the general notability criteria and the subjective one very deeply understanding pech-o-KHam (twists and turns) of the both completely. Several articles that merit deletion can be made survive through subjective criteria if argued correctly. Deletion discussions are more about better and reasonable arguments in my opinion than anything else. ─ The Aafī (talk) 17:28, 28 September 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Multiple people have vandalized Ken's page, claiming he was born in 2002 instead of his legally confirmed birth date of 2000. I added a note to the beginning of the article and posted about it on his talk page. As you are the person who created the article, I thought you should know.

[edit]- The draft was moved into mainspace, moved back, and then c&p recreated in mainspace where it is currently speedy tagged. The draft history shows a long problematic history with eight declines and one rejection, plus two AfD discussions, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/IShowSpeed (ended as "draftify" in March 2022) and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/IShowSpeed (2nd nomination) (ended as "delete" in April 2022).

An article you recently created, Summrs, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. AngusW🐶🐶F (bark • sniff) 22:00, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Summrs meets WP:MUSICBIO per 1. Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself. He has received coverage in Pitchfork which is a reliable music publication, alongside other publications such as Lyrical Lemonade. There's plenty of passing mentions of him and other coverage including a mention in a Washington Post article. Number 7. Has become one of the most prominent representatives of a notable style or the most prominent of the local scene of a city; note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards, including verifiability.
- could also be argued considering Summrs' massive influence on pluggnb as a style. Célestin Denis (talk) 22:14, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Summrs, Autumn!, Yeat and Kankan are all extremely influential and prominent figures of pluggnb as a genre. Célestin Denis (talk) 22:17, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
Took a look at the draft, here's my interpretation of the sources:
- Source 1: Database that does not give any info about artist
- Sources 2, 4, and 13, 15: About musical work, not really about artist themselves
- Source 3: Interview, can be good
- Source 10: Trivial and not independent (10kProjects is his label, has no information and only has a YouTube video)
- Sources 5, 7, 11, 12, 14, 16: Trivial mentions
- Sources 6 and 8: Small articles on songs, not about artists themselves
- Source 9: List, sort of trivial
Note that passing mentions are not good enough for sources. Honestly, as an editor, I can't see why it meets WP:MUSICBIO. reppoptalk 22:11, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
- His notability per WP:MUSICBIO comes more with the massive influence he had on pluggnb and his role as one of the most prominent figure of the genre. I will try to source this particular influence. It doesn't help that Summrs as an artist is constantly trying to distance himself from the mainstream and has declined interviews from XXL in the past. He recently signed to 10K Projects and has a song releasing with Trippie Redd soon. I assume more coverage should appear very soon and I will continue to improve the draft in the mean time. I understand he might not be ready for main-space yet. Célestin Denis (talk) 01:58, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- If his past albums get re-released under 10K Projects as part of his record deal, I assume he should pass criteria 5. Célestin Denis (talk) 02:01, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- Would it be about Summrs? If not, then I still don't think he's notable. 10K Projects is also not an major record label or an important indie label (it's not the big three nor is it an old indie label, since it's only 7 years old). There also needs to be articles that aren't interviews that are still about him. His influence on pluggnb isn't notable either IMO, it's not even its own article and he's only a footnote on the history on the Plugg article. reppoptalk 19:18, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

Hello. I was curious as to how you attained File:SypherPK icon.svg. The source mentioned is https://www.youtube.com/c/SypherPK, but I can't seem to find the file in that format there (I can only find bitmap images). Is there a clever way you found the SVG file from the YouTube page? – Pbrks (t • c) 16:55, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- I downloaded the image as jpeg from his YouTube channel, reduced the size and vectorized the image with Adobe. I don't know if that was the right procedure but I thought the .svg format was more appropriate as it is the format used for other YouTube channel logos on Wikipedia. Célestin Denis (talk) 16:59, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- I see (I didn't read the file page description all the way!). Please note that per WP:NFC, users are not permitted to vectorize non-free images, such as the logo mentioned above, and only official non-free vector logos should be used. If you would, please upload either an official vector logo if you can find one (I couldn't), or remove the image from the article (and preferably, tag it with {{Db-g7}}). Of course, you can replace the logo with the logo found at his YouTube page [2]. Thanks! – Pbrks (t • c) 17:02, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
Autopatrolled granted
[edit]Hi Célestin Denis, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.
Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.
Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! ~Swarm~ {sting} 01:33, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. UK chart on Draft:IShowSpeed
[edit]Hi. I noticed that you added the UK chart to Draft:IShowSpeed. What you have cited here is the midweek UK Singles Chart and not the final one for the week, as you might be able to tell by the "singles-chart-update" being in the URL [3] (the final UK Singles Chart has "singles-chart" in the URL [4]). We don't use the midweek UK charts in chart tables, only ever really in prose to say that "x artist was at y position midweek". Please be sure of the correct chart you're adding, as passing this off as the overall UK chart for the week is disingenuous to readers. Thanks. Ss112 00:45, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
- Mistake on my end, my apologies. I do notice that in the new link IShowSpeed's song World Cup is currently charted at number 54. Could I use that in the table? Célestin Denis (talk) 00:50, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
- Oh, you're right. I hadn't even looked to see if it was on the final chart. I'm so used to thinking midweek UK chart peaks are best-case-scenario data that I immediately think half of the songs or albums lower than the top 40 won't even make it anywhere near where they were midweek, but IShowSpeed's song actually ended up better. I've added it to the article. Ss112 01:53, 19 November 2022 (UTC)

Creating templates when the artist has less than five articles to link to
[edit]Hello. I see several days ago you made Template:Ice Spice. Please see WP:NENAN and the informal "rule of five". Unless the artist has at least five articles to link to, they probably do not need a template made for them. Ice Spice currently only has four links in that template. The discography link is just a section of her main article so I think you were a bit premature in making this. Please bear this in mind going forward. Thanks. Ss112 08:13, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:Lil Uzi Vert and Talk:Lil Uzi Vert/GA1 for issues which need to be addressed. - Salut. Just a heads up that I will be out of town from now through the end of the weekend, and I will be unable to respond to GA inquiries until then. I trust that you will fix the issues in due time, and wish you the best of luck.

Your GA nomination of Lil Uzi Vert

If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. - A personal note from me in addition to the automated one above. I am aware you are quite busy currently, and just closed this so it would not wait indefinitely. I just wanted to remind you that if you finish it within the next few months, I am still here to review it when you're finished fixing it up, and I encourage you to reach out to me when you do. I would love to see this pass, I just can't keep it open forever. dannymusiceditor oops 23:59, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

An article you recently created, Twomad, is not suitable as written to remain published.
