Non-free use in drafts
Hi Atlantic306. Just for reference, non-free files are not allowed to be used in drafts per WP:NFCC#9 and WP:DRAFTS#Preparing drafts. This edit does not mean the image complies with WP:NFCC#7, so the file is still orphaned non-free use per WP:F5. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:42, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

NPP edits
I've reverted your edits to WP:NPP, because they changed the meaning of the paragraph that was only supposed to be about A1/A3. I did want to comment on this edit summary, though, which is just wrong. G12 in particular should not be given anytime to be fixed. We delete it as soon as we are aware of it, and unless the author is likely to self-request revision deletion upon fixing it, giving them time to do so has the strong potential to cause continued harm to the rights holders. G11 is similar: we get rid of it on sight as advertising is actively harmful to the mission of building a trustworthy encyclopedia. The way the criterion is written, if something can be fixed with minor changes to not be 1960s adspeak (which most spammers don't use anymore), then it doesn't qualify and an admin won't delete it. If it does qualify under the strict rules of G11 (IMO, too strict) then it should be deleted if it was created 1 second ago. Waiting 15 minutes isn't going to change that. Moubani Sorcar
Hi Atlantic306. Because you didn't use any edit summaries in your edits to Moubani Sorcar and didn't indicate a reference for any of the new information, I went ahead and reverted it all per BLP. I'm also concerned that you restored, nilkantho.in . Ignoring all the spamming involved with it, as best that I can tell it's a blog made to look like a news site (or a small-time news website that's little more than a blog). If you can read it fluently, perhaps you have more insight into it? --Ronz (talk) 16:41, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, i left an edit summary of ce which is comparable to yours of Refspam? when you removed most of the article without a proper edit summary. Only contentious material should be removed instantly you could have tried to source the filmography and awards instead of just removing them. Also, I moved the contested ref to external link as it is an interview and basic facts are allowed from interviews, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 16:49, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
- "ce" while adding apparently unreferenced information to a BLP that had just been stubbed with edit summaries of "REFSPAM" and "not a reliable source"?! Sorry, but you didn't really address any of the obvious policy concerns. I assume you're aware that BLP requires biographical information to be sourced to high-quality material or be removed.
- I was hoping you could read the interview with fluency, and had insight into whether the site is just a blog (and so cannot be used at all), or might be ever-so-slightly enough more than a blog that it might be used for some basic information. The problem with such websites is that they scrape and copy material from other sources without attribution, so we'd need some assurances that this is not the case here. --Ronz (talk) 17:16, 22 May 2018 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.11 25 May 2018
ACTRIAL:
- WP:ACREQ has been implemented. The flow at the feed has dropped back to the levels during the trial. However, the backlog is on the rise again so please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day; a backlog approaching 5,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.
Deletion tags
- Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders. They require your further verification.
Backlog drive:
- A backlog drive will take place from 10 through 20 June. Check out our talk page at WT:NPR for more details. NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.
Editathons
- There will be a large increase in the number of editathons in June. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.
Paid editing - new policy
- Now that ACTRIAL is ACREQ, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. There is a new global WMF policy that requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.
Subject-specific notability guidelines
- The box at the right contains each of the subject-specific notability guidelines, please review any that are relevant BEFORE nominating an article for deletion.
- Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves with the new version of the notability guidelines for organisations and companies.
Not English
- A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, tag as required, then move to draft if they do have potential.
News
- Development is underway by the WMF on upgrades to the New Pages Feed, in particular ORES features that will help to identify COPYVIOs, and more granular options for selecting articles to review.
- The next issue of The Signpost has been published. The newspaper is one of the best ways to stay up to date with news and new developments. between our newsletters.

Thank you very much
The RfC discussion to eliminate portals was closed May 12, with the statement "There exists a strong consensus against deleting or even deprecating portals at this time." This was made possible because you and others came to the rescue. Thank you for speaking up.
By the way, the current issue of the Signpost features an article with interviews about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.
I'd also like to let you know that the Portals WikiProject is working hard to make sure your support of portals was not in vain. Toward that end, we have been working diligently to innovate portals, while building, updating, upgrading, and maintaining them. The project has grown to 80 members so far, and has become a beehive of activity.
Our two main goals at this time are to automate portals (in terms of refreshing, rotating, and selecting content), and to develop a one-page model in order to make obsolete and eliminate most of the 150,000 subpages from the portal namespace by migrating their functions to the portal base pages, using technologies such as selective transclusion. Please feel free to join in on any of the many threads of development at the WikiProject's talk page, or just stop by to see how we are doing. If you have any questions about portals or portal development, that is the best place to ask them.
If you would like to keep abreast of developments on portals, keep in mind that the project's members receive updates on their talk pages. The updates are also posted here, for your convenience.
Again, we can't thank you enough for your support of portals, and we hope to make you proud of your decision. Sincerely, — The Transhumanist 11:09, 25 May 2018 (UTC)

I want to thank you for moving the redirect "Sayyeshaa" to "Sayyesha" without creating a further redirect. But I feel very bad that someone else moved the page "Sayyeshaa Saigal" to "Shayyeshaa" that I wanted to, soon after your work. All I wanted was to create a reasonable history of my edits so that can apply for page mover in future. But look, this is what happens with me always. I got one question. Does the page mover flag give us permission to delete the redirects for technical reasons? Harsh Rathod Poke me! 12:40, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, yes if it is an unlikely redirect or a redirect out of mainspace or is holding up a page move and other reasons, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 13:34, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:42, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

Substantial ?
[1], [2], [3], [4] – Ronjones only reduced the size of what has been already uploaded by the blocked user. CSD G5 says "no substantial edits by others" not "no edits by others".--Let There Be Sunshine 09:32, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
- Its still a substantial edit as without it the file would be deleted, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 09:35, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
- Then it's indeed the second case "no edits by others", which is not the policy.--Let There Be Sunshine 09:39, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
- ok, think its a grey area but will revert on those images, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 09:43, 27 May 2018 (UTC)

Redirect
Regarding Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2018 May 18#Wikipedia:Other crap exists, are you aware that we still have WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS? The same deletion reasons may apply and it might be worth a discussion. This redirect has been kept a couple of times before, though, but consensus can change of course. – Finnusertop (talk ⋅ contribs) 16:32, 27 May 2018 (UTC)

Substantial edits
The removal of a cast list which was later reverted is not a substantial edit. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 17:43, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- In your opinion you mean, Atlantic306 (talk) 17:44, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- It's not my opinion, it's basic and common sense. A one sentence, unsourced line while removing content is not a substantial edit. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 17:46, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- On second look it does appear a vandal edit so agree with you its a valid G5, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 17:52, 28 May 2018 (UTC)17:51, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Now that you've come around to the G5, please also restore the tag here as there is no substantial edits by another and editing one line yourself, calling it substantial really makes it a conflict for you to decide whether it should be removed or not. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 17:58, 28 May 2018 (UTC)

- No , thats a substantial edit in a stub article of most of its prose, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 18:00, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- "Let me rephrase, because you have a conflict here, I am asking you to restore to let a neutral party decide whether your edit is substantial enough to avoid a G5 deletion. If you believe that this does not meet the criteria for deletion, an administrator should be able to figure that out too. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:06, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- copyediting an article during NPP is not a conflict of interest Atlantic306 (talk) 18:09, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Minor CE during NPP is not substantial editing and by your definition, if it were and is currently, you are not in a position to be removing a speedy deletion tag from an article for the same reason we tell creators not to. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:12, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Copyediting an entire article is not a minor edit and NPP editors do not have a conflict of interest ask an admin as you are just making up policy. Also please stay away from my talkpage and take it off your watchlist and ill reciprocate, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 18:19, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- I agree with Chrissymad: Unless you rewrite the page in its entirety so that none of the blocked user's contributions remains, I'd suggest leaving the speedy deletion tag on the page and leaving it for the reviewing admin to decide whether the page should be deleted. Huon (talk) 18:31, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Disagree, the policy doesnt say that, it states any substantial edits and thats the way most admins enforce it, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 18:33, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- If you want to argue whether your interpretation of "substantive" agrees with admin enforcement, you're welcome. Huon (talk) 18:42, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- (edit conflict)You don't appear to understand what substantial editing is, it's based on content, not gnomish fixes to blocked editor's work or semi-automated edits. Basic CE is minor, it is not substantial. With that said, I'm going to request that you stop declining G5's that aren't blatant vandalism (ie. placed when it's clear there was no blocked editor) based on this: You removed one here based on this edit which is basic copyediting and I suspect that editor would agree that is not substantial. I would not consider the edits here to be substantial, nor was the IP's edits here. I can go on, but you get my point. Precedent shows that most G5 deletions are in line with both what Huon and I have said, not your assumption that most admins would consider minor edits to be substantial. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:46, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Ive asked you once to stay away from my talkpage and you are not an admin you are a 2year editor like me with no authority to tell people what to do. We obviously disagree and am going to take it to deletion review and will abide by the views there about G5s ( I wont remove anymore untill the decision there) thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 18:54, 28 May 2018 (UTC)

Articles created by FloridaArmy and now draftified
Hi I saw that you submitted and then withdrew the submission for Draft:Louisiana State Cotton Museum. I don't know if you have been following the saga but it has been decided here to review the article creations by User:FloridaArmy and draftify those that are unsuitable for mainspace so that they can be improved and submitted. I have taken on this task. I have moved obvious exemples with just a reference to the community decision those that are not obvious I have checked out notability, sourcing and history and where there is a serious doubt I have moved them giving a reason for doing it. I have already moved 27 of the articles and left probably as many and for the moment I have only checked out half the month of May and I still have about 40 to look at. if you're interested i am keeping a log of those I have moved here User:Domdeparis/sandbox/FloridaArmy moves into draft space to enable a batch notification. cheers Dom from Paris (talk) 14:24, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, yes am aware of it all but I dont think this one is too bad as its not a BLP and seems a valid topic of a State owned museum. It needs independent refs so will look for some when have more time, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 18:12, 31 May 2018 (UTC)

Your unnecessarily vandalizing edits on Monster High: Boo York, Boo York
Hi, your edit on Monster High: Boo York, Boo York was reverted by me because it seems a bit to unnecessary to not only be removing the wikia links but removing all of the constructive edits from the last logged in user..... You should know that that is what I call vandalism because you should have just removed the wikia links not all of the other references given by the user because those were constructive edits so please do not revert back or else you will be starting an edit war, Thank You! — Preceding unsigned comment added by BrutBROWS (talk • contribs) 15:54, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
- The edit included a huge lump of content copied from wikia fandom. Add the references seperately, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 16:10, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
- BrutBROWS, copying from other sources is not allowed WP:COPYPASTE, however if the text is open license/public domain you could consider. However, per WP:FILMPLOT, the summary that is currently on that page is excessive (933 words) and should be heavily trimmed to 400-700 per WP:FILMPLOT I would suggest rewriting it in your own words. It is not vandalism to delete allegedly copy-pasted text, so please do not accuse Atlantic306 of that. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:52, 20 June 2018 (UTC)

A kitten for you!
Just wanted to pop in to thank you for checking on the band deletion requests I've been doing such as this. I'm going through a category of orphans and while the accuracy rate for my deletions still seems to be pretty good, the one I linked above did have reviews, so thanks for keeping it in check, I went on a bit of a spree!

- hi, yes you can recreate it but it needs to be in neutral language like a written encyclopedia with no praising or hyperbole- for example instead of saying award-wiining say they won the specific awards on what dates. Also, no direct copying is allowed. It is also best started in your userspace before it goes to mainspace. If you like you can ask me to review it in your userspace and if its ready I will move it to mainspace but i'll be offline soon until tomorrow, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 19:28, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

RonBot (talk) 17:11, 19 July 2018 (UTC)

AfD Non-Admin Closure query/help
Hi,
After a reasonably lengthy AfD exposure I've recently thought I should help out with some non-admin bits of the administration - relisting, nac keeps etc. I hadn't realised that redirects could also be done as non-admin closures. Beyond the obvious (non-controversial both overall and specified target), I thought I'd ask if there was anything in particular I should bear in mind.
Many Thanks,
Nosebagbear (talk) 21:22, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
p.s. Distinct from that (please ignore it if overstepping) - how come you haven't become an admin?
Thanks, provided they are non-controversial nac's can include keep, speedy keep, no consensus, redirect, or merge but it is best left to discussions where such a close has obvious, majority support not just in votes but in rationales. Regarding adminship, have recently been advised by an admin to wait at least 3 years due to misdemeanors, thanks , will be offline till tomorrow Atlantic306 (talk) 22:03, 23 July 2018 (UTC)

Declined speedy deletion nomination of Marek Mádle
Hello Atlantic306. Speedy deletion work is important and I do appreciate the effort. I would just ask that you please review the criteria carefully because accuracy is also important. On that issue, I have declined your speedy deletion nomination of Marek Mádle as an article that does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the topic under CSD A7. That criterion did not apply because being a semi-professional footballer for a notable club is a credible claim of significance, I've left the PROD in place though. Thanks. Hi! Sorry for causing problems due to this article. I will delete it as you asked me. However , after deleting this article, can I recreate it after a few days, with references from notable sites that you mentioned? Or if it is not possible, can you then please move the article to draft space? Please tell me if any of the two options is possible? NPR Newsletter No.12 30 July 2018
|
Hello Atlantic306, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!
- June backlog drive
Overall the June backlog drive was a success, reducing the last 3,000 or so to below 500. However, as expected, 90% of the patrolling was done by less than 10% of reviewers.
Since the drive closed, the backlog has begun to rise sharply again and is back up to nearly 1,400 already. Please help reduce this total and keep it from raising further by reviewing some articles each day.
- New technology, new rules
- New features are shortly going to be added to the Special:NewPagesFeed which include a list of drafts for review, OTRS flags for COPYVIO, and more granular filter preferences. More details can be found at this page.
- Probationary permissions: Now that PERM has been configured to allow expiry dates to all minor user rights, new NPR flag holders may sometimes be limited in the first instance to 6 months during which their work will be assessed for both quality and quantity of their reviews. This will allow admins to accord the right in borderline cases rather than make a flat out rejection.
- Current reviewers who have had the flag for longer than 6 months but have not used the permissions since they were granted will have the flag removed, but may still request to have it granted again in the future, subject to the same probationary period, if they wish to become an active reviewer.
- Editathons
- Editathons will continue through August. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.
- The Signpost
- The next issue of the monthly magazine will be out soon. The newspaper is an excellent way to stay up to date with news and new developments between our newsletters. If you have special messages to be published, or if you would like to submit an article (one about NPR perhaps?), don't hesitate to contact the editorial team here.

I have to say I disagree with your close. I get what you are saying, obviously greater particpation probably would have led to a clearer result, but as far as policy-based arguments go, both I and the other “delete” comment made them, and the single keep voter tacked on some WP:ROUTINE sources without actually adding a single word to the article, and then added their novel, admittedly unproven theory that this club may have influenced others when in fact the article makes it clear that it was inspired by a much more well know club in California. In short, no compelling argument to keep was made in my opinion. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:57, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, with the one keep vote that added references I think it really needed more than one delete vote for a consensus, if it hadn't had the 3wks would have relisted. Suggest renomination rather than dreview thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 19:04, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- Renominating with a recent no-consensus closure is going to potentially skew the discussion that takes place at a subsequent AfD, hell, I'll be amazed if it's not almost the subject of another shitty NAC from another over enthusiastic admin wannabee such as yourself. You need to revert the closure and re-list, with an explanation of why your closure was incorrect. And you need to stop making shitty NACs in future. Nick (talk) 19:26, 30 July 2018 (UTC)

RonBot (talk) 17:15, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

I am trying to get Micro Museum's page up on wikipedia as a part of our 30th anniversary and uncertain about the feedback below. I am confused, especially the first sentence. Can you clarify how I should be citing references? My question for example - I have listed a few names of people who were guest curators. How should I be citing them for approval? Are you looking for bio materials? their personal approval? I am not sure. The quotes and awards are documented but appear to need more citation. Can you clue me as to what exactly would be acceptable. Further.... would it be wise for me to remove unacceptable materials for help expedite this approval process?
"Everything in the article should be cited to references. At present there are large sections without references, all of the quotes and awards must each have a reference. Also, external links are not allowed in the text except within references. On the plus side the museum is notable and deserves an article." Hightopdancer55 (talk)

The NYT article is not in dispute. Although it is a review that mentions the Schultz. That would be the only viable mention. It's a vanity project. Please delete. Rudolph

Chronicle notability
Hi. You challenged the proposed deletion of Chronicle (UK TV series) based on the assumption that it’s likely to be notable, though the article’s only sources are primary or user-generated (which usually indicates a subject isn’t). Could you demonstrate its notability? Thanks. —67.14.236.193 (talk) 18:57, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- BBC series are reviewed in reliable sources such as The Guardian and the Daily Telegraph, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 19:11, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- Has this one been? The article has no mention of reviews. —67.14.236.193 (talk) 19:15, 4 August 2018 (UTC)
- Per WP:INDISCRIMINATE,
To provide encyclopedic value, data should be put in context with explanations referenced to independent sources.
An extensive list of episode titles and airdates is sorely lacking in that regard. You clearly believe the series to be sufficiently notable for inclusion, and we’d most likely be able to pull contextual info from whatever sources you’ve seen it discussed in. I could have a go at it myself if you’d be willing to share what you’ve found. —67.14.236.193 (talk) 02:28, 10 August 2018 (UTC) - Have a very big backlog at present, episode lists are not indiscriminate as there are hundreds of lists that are just episode lists so an episode list is expected for a tv series. Of course other content is needed but the list should not be removed, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 16:35, 10 August 2018 (UTC)
- An episode list that is not
put in context with explanations referenced to independent sources
is indiscriminate. If we really have hundreds of such articles with no episode summaries, production, reception, nothing, then we have hundreds of indiscriminate lists, which isn’t good and doesn’t make another one okay. If there’s nothing else to say in the article, it’s pretty much a shoo-in for AFD. So I ask again, what led you to believe that this particular series was WP:notable? —67.14.236.193 (talk) 00:59, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

Hello Atlantic306, thank you for having a look at the page I think you are makinga mistake by deleting the new content though. I am eiditng. But why are you deleting all the information I add? There are LOTS of new info, photos and proof in new version. You do not know the person I am wirint about But you delete the new info. And keep reverting to the old version Why do you do that? It is not easy to find reference ONLINE for peolpe who lived in another decade, without digital publishing. There is enough physical evidence. You do not even know the person who I write about, who is prominent, well-known and solid historical fact. Why do you keep deleting my contect? Please stop, Or please explain. Wikipedia is saying that editors should be careful while providing editing. Can you please be careful and use your knowledge? Or you can personally research on the topic which I am writing about? Then you will see. Please let me know what is your issue with this page. Thanks Dulani-tilakasiri (talk) 20:04, 7 August 2018 (UTC) |

Hi I believe that you were mistaken when you closed this Afd. I think the article creator as per his message on the talk page deliberately nominated it to have the discussion and have a consensus about its notability. I think that you should probably contact them and eventually reopen the afd or renominate if that is not possible. Dom from Paris (talk) 21:12, 21 August 2018 (UTC)

Deletion of Nabil Ayad
Another user marked this page for deletion, which you essentially blocked. I've been trying to find any concrete sources and citations for any of the claims made in the article – entirely without success. The page is a resume, and a suspiciously vague yet grandiose one at that. Ayad seems little more than an obscure figure in diplomatic training. I wouldn't even call him an academic; I can't find sources to verify that he has contributed to academia, authored any papers, participated in any studies, or even that he is entitled to call himself 'professor.'

Your recent editing history at Peter Emslie shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. - Four reverts in less than 20 minutes. FWIW, I agree with you that WorldCat is enough to overcome BLPPROD, but when three editors disagree with you, you don’t keep reverting. You discuss. The edit warring policy is clear that edit warring is wrong, even if you are right. When there is a legitimate disagreement, we discuss. When multiple editors disagree with you, you don’t keep insisting you are right and keep reverting. You take it up with them on their talk or on the article talk. As for a warning: you’re an experienced editor. You know better than to edit war. TonyBallioni (talk) 17:09, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- @TonyBallioni: It seems clear to me that Atlantic306 was not aware that he violated 3RR. I'm sure he would self-revert if he was asked, and the block seems punitive to me. wumbolo ^^^ 17:38, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- He was reverting multiple different editors after being directly asked to take it to talk, and the disruption was ongoing. Even if he hadn’t broken 3RR (which he unambiguously did), a block would have been justified here for repeating the same revert multiple times in a 20 minute period: he thought he was right, he didn’t care who disagreed with him, and he was actively edit warring to see his interpretation of policy enforced on a BLP. None of the other editors involved got anywhere near 3RR, so full protection would not have been justified when a block of one person would stop the edit war: policy prefers blocking to protection when it will stop disruption. There was only one editor edit warring to remove the tag, and he was doing it against multiple people who disagreed with him. A block in this case was 100% preventative and the admin action most justifiable by policy. TonyBallioni (talk) 17:46, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

@TonyBallioni: Can you please check your facts as I did 3 reverts and on 2 editors not 3. The first edit I made was a deprod removing the prod which was not a revert at all. Then I was the subject of the first revert on the page by Natureism , which I reverted then Chrissymad reverted saying take it to the talkpage and I did look there but there was no discussion there then, then I reverted 2 edits by Natureism who also made 3 reverts in total and was the first to revert. I agree that I should have taken it to the talkpage and will be more careful in future, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 18:36, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- One, two, three, four. I have my facts correct. You reverted another editor reverting DGG's removal of a PROD: context matters. Even if you hadn't hit four reverts, I would have blocked you: 3 reverts of the same exact item in 20 minutes is ridiculous, and 3RR is not a right. TonyBallioni (talk) 18:42, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- The first edit was not a revert ... Atlantic306 (talk) 18:44, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- Here is the sequence of edits for the first one DGG removes, Bradv contests the removal, you restore DGG's removal. You then after your block say that you restored DGG's edit, which shows that you did in fact think of it as a revert/challenging the restoration of the BLPPROD, and again, even if we don't count it, 3RR is not a right, and someone who repeats the same exact edit that many times in such a short period is likely to end up blocked. Finally, re: your post below. Yes, the fact that three different editors disagreed with you should have told you to stop and talk to them. Also, Natureium only reverted twice. Chrissymad once. Waggie once, and Bradv once (when he reverted DGG). TonyBallioni (talk) 18:56, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
Also, I was reverted 4 times in 20minutes Atlantic306 (talk) 18:45, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- I didnt realise I was editwarring with bradv as any editor is allowed to remove an incorrect blpprod, and I was blocked when Waggie edited Atlantic306 (talk) 19:05, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- I don't think you're getting my point: edit warring is not about who you are reverting or if you are right. It is about you insisting that you are right and not considering the objections of others. I mentioned Waggie to show that no other editor had near as many reverts as you did. You knew you were undoing Bradv (you said as much after the block in the diff I linked above), you knew that other editors objected to it. You continued reverting anyway. I'm concerned that an editor with your experience doesn't get this very basic concept: when someone challenges your edit, you talk. If multiple people disagree with the actions you are taking, you have even more reason to talk.As I said, I agree with your point re: the BLPPROD, but the correct thing here would have been to go to Natureium and ask them if they would mind taking it at AfD so the source could have been discussed. Reverting someone you think is interpreting policy wrong is not an exception to edit warring, which is why you ended up blocked. TonyBallioni (talk) 19:11, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- Should'nt this have gone to the edit war board or at least a request at your talkpage, were you asked to intervene through email? Atlantic306 (talk) 19:15, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- Administrators monitor administrative categories. The page you were edit warring on appeared and disappeared from the BLPPROD maintenance category repeatedly over a short period of time. I'm surprised there's not more administrators here shouting at you for edit warring (which you were). Nick (talk) 19:27, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- No one asked me to block. I saw the reversions, realized one editor was reverting multiple editors, and blocked to stop the disruption. We do not need an ANEW report or a warning to block for edit warring. TonyBallioni (talk) 19:30, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- I didnt realise I was editwarring with bradv as any editor is allowed to remove an incorrect blpprod, and I was blocked when Waggie edited Atlantic306 (talk) 19:05, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

original unblock reason
Decline reason:
I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that
- the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
- the block is no longer necessary because you
- understand what you have been blocked for,
- will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
- will make useful contributions instead.
Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Primefac (talk) 19:24, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
@Primefac: I hadnt made my unblock request yet before you jumped in and please leave it to someone else who can at least wait for my request and Nick please leave it as we have had recent disagreements Atlantic306 (talk) 20:01, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- I wasn't going to handle your unblock request (below) precisely for that reason. I find it to be a good request, for what it's worth, indicating that you understand the errors in your editing behaviour today and resolving not to commit further errors of this type in future. Nick (talk) 20:15, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- Since I was mentioned, I'll comment. It is particularly absurd to edit war over whether or not a BLP Prod is valid. The correct course is what [[[User:GB fan|GB fan]] did, which is to take it to AfD and get an definitive decision. By the way, Atlantic306, when I remove a blp prod, i am acting as an editor not an admin, and nobody need defer to me who disagrees. DGG ( talk ) 19:39, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- @DGG:: Absurd to edit war over it, absolutely. However, I wish to point out that GB fan's removal was not actually the correct course. Discussion on the talk page had been requested multiple times, and a thread on the talk page started, when GB fan removed the BLPPROD. This was not a PROD, where any objection is sufficient to avoid deletion, BLPPROD requires a reliable source that supports a statement being made in the article. The discussion was about removing the BLPPROD and whether the source was reliable or not, when there are clear indications it isn't. Thanks for your time. Waggie (talk) 03:28, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

Request reason:
I realise I was wrong to edit war and should have taken it to the talkpage and in future I will be very careful to do so except when it is vandalism or blp violations such as unsourced content. However as I have never been blocked before I think I could have had a warning first, as the notice of editwarring arrived in the same minute as the block and I would have taken the warning. Also I didnt realise when I deprodded in the first edit that it was considered a revert as any editor can remove an invalid blpprod, also when Chrissymad said take it to the talkpage I did look but there was nothing there. However I recognise now that I should have started the discussion regards, Atlantic306 (talk) 20:01, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
Accept reason:
Unblocking as time served. Please be more careful going forward. TonyBallioni (talk) 20:46, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- @TonyBallioni: I told you that Atlantic306 wasn't going to revert more than 3–4 times. I'm still not convinced that the block was preventative. wumbolo ^^^ 20:53, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- I am convinced it was, and the diffs and responses here after the block bear that out, but regardless it ceased being preventative with the unblock request, which is why he is no longer blocked. He wasn’t unblocked earlier because the discussion above showed a fundamental lack of understanding of basic policy. You also appear to share similar misunderstandings if you think not reverting “more than 3-4 times” in 20 minutes is acceptable. TonyBallioni (talk) 21:04, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- I agree with this; I was talking about the block in the first place. wumbolo ^^^ 21:20, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
- Which was fully in line with policy and was preventative. TonyBallioni (talk) 21:22, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.13 18 September 2018
Hello Atlantic306, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!
The New Page Feed currently has 2700 unreviewed articles, up from just 500 at the start of July. For a while we were falling behind by an average of about 40 articles per day, but we have stabilised more recently. Please review some articles from the back of the queue if you can (Sort by: 'Oldest' at Special:NewPagesFeed), as we are very close to having articles older than one month.
- Project news
- The New Page Feed now has a new "Articles for Creation" option which will show drafts instead of articles in the feed, this shouldn't impact NPP activities and is part of the WMF's AfC Improvement Project.
- As part of this project, the feed will have some larger updates to functionality next month. Specifically, ORES predictions will be built in, which will automatically flag articles for potential issues such as vandalism or spam. Copyright violation detection will also be added to the new page feed. See the projects's talk page for more info.
- There are a number of coordination tasks for New Page Patrol that could use some help from experienced reviewers. See Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Coordination#Coordinator tasks for more info to see if you can help out.
- Other
- A new summary page of reliable sources has been created; Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources/Perennial sources, which summarizes existing RfCs or RSN discussions about regularly used sources.
- Moving to Draft and Page Mover
- Some unsuitable new articles can be best reviewed by moving them to the draft space, but reviewers need to do this carefully and sparingly. It is most useful for topics that look like they might have promise, but where the article as written would be unlikely to survive AfD. If the article can be easily fixed, or if the only issue is a lack of sourcing that is easily accessible, tagging or adding sources yourself is preferable. If sources do not appear to be available and the topic does not appear to be notable, tagging for deletion is preferable (PROD/AfD/CSD as appropriate). See additional guidance at WP:DRAFTIFY.
- If the user moves the draft back to mainspace, or recreates it in mainspace, please do not re-draftify the article (although swapping it to maintain the page history may be advisable in the case of copy-paste moves). AfC is optional except for editors with a clear conflict of interest.
- Articles that have been created in contravention of our paid-editing-requirements or written from a blatant NPOV perspective, or by authors with a clear COI might also be draftified at discretion.
- The best tool for draftification is User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js(info). Kindly adapt the text in the dialogue-pop-up as necessary (the default can also be changed like this). Note that if you do not have the Page Mover userright, the redirect from main will be automatically tagged as CSD R2, but in some cases it might be better to make this a redirect to a different page instead.
- The Page Mover userright can be useful for New Page Reviewers; occasionally page swapping is needed during NPR activities, and it helps avoid excessive R2 nominations which must be processed by admins. Note that the Page Mover userright has higher requirements than the NPR userright, and is generally given to users active at Requested Moves. Only reviewers who are very experienced and are also very active reviewers are likely to be granted it solely for NPP activities.
