New pages patrol newsletter
Hello Atlantic306,
Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!
October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.
PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.
Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.
Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Page Patrol Discord.
- Consider adding the project discussion page to your watchlist.
- To opt out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Thank you.
Dear colleague,
Thank you for reviewing Never Come Back, a former REDIRECT to Suddenly (Caribou album) (an album with a track entitled "Never Come Back"), but which was linked to by an article that listed the title of the 1990 TV mini-series. I therefore aimed to convert the REDIRECT to an article on the latter and was lucky that there were enough sources to make it a viable stub, now also linked to by articles about members of the cast. I am glad that it passed your review, and I wanted to thank you for your time and vote of confidence.
With kind regards;

Vincent Korda
You appear to be reverting my changes. I am youngest son of Vincent and wish his Wiki entry to be correct. Vincent was able to be an art director in film due to his huge skill as a painter - a fact that I am trying to get into the wiki. There are many paintings you can see online. Also the wiki has dates with ?? and, as youngest son who spent a lot of time alone with Vincent after our mother died, I know the correct ones. Vincent's birth place is also not correct. You can see the correct on on Zoltan Korda entry, his brother. The Wiki has mention of a grandson, Chris, but Vincent had 4 children, leading to 5 grand children and now great granchildren. Vincent died in Chelsea, London where he was living at the end of his life. Michael Korda is a son by Vincent's first wife. The other 3 children were by Vincent's second wife Leila who died when I was 14. How did Chris Korda get into it? 84.67.43.145 (talk) 00:04, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Hello, Atlantic306,
Please leave a redirect behind when moving a long-standing, heavily edited articles like this 18 year old one. It inevitably has redirects pointing to it which, as you can see User:AnomieBOT III/Broken redirects, become broken and have to be fixed. Even if you are fixing a bad or vandalistic page move, consider leaving a redirect behind because then the helpful Wikipedia bots can fix all of the redirects that get shifted to the new page title. Or, on the other hand, if you do not want to leave a redirect, check "What links here" and you can fix them yourself. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 22:54, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, i'm a bit confused about this. I did a round robin move and there is now an Animals in the Bible article that is a merger of List of animals in the Bible and Animals in the Bible following the end of a merger discussion that included the article name change. List of animals in the Bible is a redirect to Animals in the Bible created by @Pppery: because I misspelt the redirect List of Animals in the Bible so it all seems linked up now? regards, Atlantic306 (talk) 23:03, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Tagging pages for speedy deletion
Hello, Atlantic306,
If you are seeking the deletion of a redirect page in order to move an article or draft in its place, I have a suggestion for you. You will get a quicker response if, using Twinkle, you select CSD>G6 Move and then, in the field, put the name of the page you want moved. This provides an active link to the article to be moved so that an admin can check it out and see if the move is appropriate and then, with one edit, they can delete the redirect and move the article.
I know, at least for me, that I won't delete a valid redirect without examining the article/draft that is being proposed to be moved. There have also been incidents when editors have proposed a move/deletion and the draft has been declined so a move to main space isn't appropriate. And the way you have set it up, there is not an active link so the patrolling admin has to cut and paste the name of the page into the search bar or paste it in the URL field. Doing the steps I propose do not take any more time for an editor and can be the difference between an admin patrolling CSD categories acting swiftly or leaving the request to sit for hours for someone else to handle. It's not that admins don't want to fulfill a request from a respected editor like yourself, you just want to make things easy for them or they will just move on to the next request to evaluate. There are always tasks sitting around for admins to take care of and they tend to work on work that is set up to be easy and familiar to them. Just a suggestion! Liz Read! Talk! 00:33, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
- I take your point but the difficulty is that I haven't found a way of approving an article at AfC without moving it at the same time. If an admin moves it it doesn't get the edit summary of approved at AfC and doesn't get the AfC banner on the talkpage, regards Atlantic306 (talk) 00:56, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
