Control copyright icon Hello CipherCraft618, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to The Autobiography of William Carlos Williams has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Wikishovel (talk) 16:59, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Icarus Needs for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Icarus Needs is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Icarus Needs until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Anarchyte (work | talk) 04:06, 5 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, CipherCraft618. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, OFF (video game), for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 09:24, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Something Something Soup Something has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG. Topic lacks significant coverage from reliable independent sources.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Petscop, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discusion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Your draft article, Draft:Blood Moon Ball

[edit]

Hello, AntiGravityMaster. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Blood Moon Ball".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Minecraft GA nominations

[edit]

AntiGravityMaster, for the second time this month, your GA nomination of Minecraft has been removed by TheJoebro64. There are reasons for this, and I thought it would help for me to let you know what they are.

First, per the GA nomination instructions, Nominators who are not significant contributors to the article should consult regular editors of the article on the article talk page prior to a nomination. As someone whose edits include 33 minor edits out of a total of 36, you are not a "significant contributor". So you need to make the consultation on Talk:Minecraft to gain consensus that the article is ready for a GA nomination before proceeding, and you haven't. (A typical consultation lasts at least seven days to give editors an adequate chance to chime in.)

Second, as TheJoebro64 put it in his edit summary when reverting your earlier nomination, many of the issues from the GAR remain unresolved. Back in 2018, Minecraft was delisted from having been a Good Article due to a number of significant issues raised in the Good Article Reassessment (GAR); you'll want to read the reassessment and the comments therein by Czar, Hellknowz, and TheJoebro64 to see what was considered lacking, since it's clear from TheJoebro64's recent actions (and edit summaries) that work still needs to be done on them.

Technically, these were not "quickfails" as no review was opened, but the removal of out-of-process nominations. The ultimate effect is the same. If you want to nominate Minecraft at some point in the future, the article will need to have been improved in order to address the outstanding issues first; otherwise, it is sure ultimately to be failed whether your talk-page consultation is successful or not. Best of luck in your work to improve the article to that level. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:22, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:DaveyWreden 2014Gameloading.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:DaveyWreden 2014Gameloading.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Petscop:Draft requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

OmegaFallon, this nomination does not currently meet the criteria, since the absolute minimum is 1500 prose characters and it's at 1312. Are you planning to expand the article anew, or should we close the nomination? It's been over a week since you were pinged after its promotion was reversed due to the current issues. We need to hear from you soon. Thank you. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:49, 5 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The article had been going through a lot of changes recently, as well as a deletion renomination. The way the article is currently is roughly the most we can get it at without anyone raising concerns about original research. So, I'd say closing it is all that can be done. Notice

The file File:Kolbeinsey Aerial2020.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Superceded by better quality, public domain File:Kolbeinsey_Aerial_2020.jpg on Commons

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. –DMartin 17:15, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Windmill of the Aldehuela moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Windmill of the Aldehuela, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Fairy, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page FAE. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Fritz and Chesster

[edit]

Hi OmegaFallon! I noticed your edits to Talk:Fritz and Chesster and am wondering why you categorised the article as C-class for WPChess and a Stub for WPEducation and WPVG. In my experience, I've never come across practice of giving different classes for different WikiProjects with the exception of A-Class reviews performed by a small number of WikiProjects. Also, I believe the article has too much content and secondary source material to be classed as a stub, but I prefer not to rate articles that I have written the current version of myself. Input and mentorship

[edit]

OmegaFallon, I highly respect your quality work on Wikipedia, especially your good article work on The Stanley Parable.

I'm dealing with a less than civil user that is not being quite kind to me.

I've tried really really really hard to do a lot of research over at the article = InnerSloth.

Instead of being met with praise, I was faced with a drive-by-tagging.

I improved the page from stub when I first got there, to:

major research and expansion.

OmegaFallon, you seem like someone dedicated to improving Wikipedia overall, and quality in particular.

That is why I am coming to you for advice, and input, and perhaps even mentorship.

Thank you,

Thank you! I'm flattered that you'd say that. I've taken a brief look at the discussion page, and it does seem like a lot of the talk there isn't very productive. It's a shame when you have to interact with users like that, but my advice is to simply not sink to their level. If you act civil towards them, they'll usually get bored and stop talking, since most of them are just looking to get a reaction out of you. Either that, or you can ignore them entirely. As far as keeping the page and improving it, I agree with you that it seems like it's notable enough for an article, and I see a few others in the discussion who agree. I'll read through the article and post my support later today. Hopefully things go well for you and the Innersloth article. Harmonia per misericordia. November 2022

[edit]

Please familiarize yourself better with WP:BLP if you plan on continuing to edit BLP articles. A majority of the content you added to this article is unsourced. Unsourced content is generally not okay, but it's really not okay in a BLP article under a section called "criticisms" you created. Such a mistake from someone who is an experienced editor is entirely unacceptable - do not do this again. Sergecross73 msg me 02:34, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I saw that you recently expanded a biographical article, and added the full name of the subject, using only court documents as a source. A tag has been placed on The Fesh Pince of Blair requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

'Til Death Do Us Blart moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, 'Til Death Do Us Blart, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 10:56, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Snowgrave (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

List of Pokémon in <insert game>

[edit]

Hey OmegaFallon. I was reviewing redirects and I noticed a few of your recent creations, such as:

My concern with redirects such as these is that it's not indicated at the target (List of generation II Pokémon in this case) which Pokemon are available in which games. I know that, between Gold and Silver, there are some that are only available in each version (same with Red and Blue, Sapphire and Ruby, and I assume later generations). Additionally, there were also Pokemon from earlier generations that are appear in later games. There was quite a few Pokemon that were available in Gold and Silver from gen I that aren't found at List of generation II Pokémon. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:56, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My purpose in creating these redirects is for interwiki links with pre-existing Wikidata items. They have to redirect somewhere and I feel that just linking to the generation list is close enough, but if you feel otherwise you're free to change them, I won't mind. I'm less concerned about where the redirects point and more concerned with them existing, for my purposes. Harmonia per misericordia. OmegaFallon (talk) 15:59, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
After some searching (since it's been over 15 years since I played the games) it looks like all the original Pokemon were also available in Gold and Silver. My concern is that they would end up being deleted for being inaccurate. This gets more complicated in the later games as they pick and choose which of the Pokemon to make available (though that's just from my memory from 15+ years ago playing Sapphire and Ruby). Hey man im josh (talk) 16:07, 10 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:33, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
