I am TheJoebro64, arguably the best, most productive editor that has ever graced Wikipedia.

Nah, just kidding. I'm just your average joe (pun intended) who likes video games (mostly Sonic the Hedgehog), DC Comics, and movies. Feel free to reach me via my talk page.

About me

[edit]

My name is Joseph (you can call me "Joe", of course!) and I'm a 22-year-old college student (I'm an art studio major) currently living in Washington, D.C. I've been an active Wikipedia editor since 2016.

Other things you should know about me:

  • I'm from New England. (Yes, this means I'm a disgusting, unironic Patriots and Tom Brady fan. Sorry to disappoint.)
  • I really enjoy video games, comics, and film. My edit history should make this obvious, but doesn't hurt to just say it outright :V
  • When I'm not on Wikipedia, I'm usually at the gym, doing homework, spending time with friends and family, or sleeping.
  • My personal hobbies include drawing, going for walks/runs, playing video games, watching TV/movies, and editing Wikipedia (duh).

Current / Upcoming Projects

[edit]

Currently I have a video game project inspired by a similar project by Darkwarriorblake, where I take one great video game from each year to FA status.

If you'd like to collaborate on anything, don't hesitate to reach out to me!

Topics of interest

[edit]

My main passion on Wikipedia is video game articles—especially Sonic the Hedgehog. I was first introduced to Sonic when Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games came out for the Nintendo DS before getting into the main games. My favorite games are platformers, but I also enjoy fighting, action-adventure, arcade, and sandbox. I don't like FPSs, mostly because I hate first-person games in general (there are some though, like GoldenEye 007 and Minecraft, that I thoroughly enjoy). My favorite game? A tie between Super Mario 64 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles (I usually the latter using the Sonic 3 Complete mod, which I think is the definitive version).

Aside from video games, I also edit articles related to comics, mostly DC Comics. I love Marvel, but DC characters always resonated with me more, probably because I grew up in a time when Justice League Unlimited, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and Lego Batman: The Videogame were popular. Mature readers comics, particularly DC Vertigo ones, have always fascinated me. My favorite comic series is Batman: The Long Halloween, and my favorite graphic novel is The Killing Joke. I dabble in film a bit as well; Joker (2019 film) and The Batman (film) are largely my work.

Tips

[edit]
  • Don't let Wikipedia make you mad, because if you do, you might do something stupid.
  • Don't be a dick, especially to newcomers.
  • If someone else is being a dick to you, don't try to tolerate their abuse. Stand up to them (though not in a way that violates WP:NPA) and, if necessary, contact an admin for help.
  • Be bold!
  • If reverted, discuss! I used to have a lot of trouble with this, but I realized you can actually get your change through easier by discussing instead of edit warring.
  • Be a steward, not an owner.
  • Cite sources!
[edit]

I sometimes do paid editing as a freelancer. It's not something I do on a regular basis, but sometimes interesting opportunities arise!

Shortcuts

[edit]

Potential projects (this is pretty outdated—other editors have already tackled some of the articles I've had ideas for!—but I think it's worth putting here just in case I decide to come to one of these in the future)

Selected articles (articles I've created, expanded, and taken to GA/FA)

Awards and recognition (Barnstars and whatnot)

Draft pages I have (I basically create these every time I have an idea for an article I want to create/rewrite. I almost never get to most of them since my interests are always shifting, lol)

My essay on how to write a dope video game article (An essay where I essentially describe my editing philosophy for building video game articles)
