對不起,我現時不能在中文維基編緝,所以不能使用那裡的留言板。
- 關於動態IP被查封一事,其實在香港的電訊盈科公司的用戶也是用動態的IP,所以這樣會使使用者不便。

[edit]Hi Alexsh, there is some discussion currently going on here, and I noticed you have {{User anime}} on your userpage. If you are not too busy, I would appreciate it if you could drop some of your ideas on how to reform the portal on the aforementioned talk page. Thanks! « ANIMUM » 23:05, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit]This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:AltaVista.svg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:33, 7 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Re: (User talk:Ais523/votesymbols.js) How to use?
[edit]It doesn't look like you've made any mistakes installing the script. Try bypassing your cache, and then looking at the top of WP:SFD to see if the script's working. If it isn't, let me know what browser you're using, and I'll look into it; if you get any JavaScript errors (which you can tell by looking at the icon at the bottom-left corner of the screen (which changes to an exclamation mark you can double-click on for details) in Internet Explorer or by typing javascript:
into the address bar in Firefox; I don't know how to check in other browsers), let me know what they are, as it makes it easier to pin down the problem. --ais523 09:07, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Warning:Javascript security issue
[edit]Hi! I need to inform you that I've protected Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/Easy db because it allows users to add code to the javascript of other users. If you are an admin, you are still able to edit it, but if you are not an admin, please copy and paste it into your userspace to continue modifying it. We can set up a message at the old javascript page telling users to change their links. If you need help, please contact me or User:Eagle_101. Thanks, --uǝʌǝsʎʇɹnoɟʇs 00:53, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:AltaVista.svg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:AltaVista.svg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:15, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Alexbot blocked
[edit]Alexbot has been blocked for running an unapproved task. BJTalk 01:48, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Options
[edit]Honestly, I don't know. I'm concerned that the block came out of the blue - you weren't told to "stop it", so to speak - but multiple problems in a short time span is troubling, certainly. It might be worthwhile to ask for some sort of mentorship or monitoring on the bot's edits, maybe a probation-type arrangement. Sort of a "Hey, I screwed up, I'll make sure this does not happen again, please give me another chance" request. The caveat there is that future unapproved tasks - any unapproved tasks - will probably result in the bot being blocked for good. But, if you're OK with it, that might be a good compromise to be proposed at the BRFA page. UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 11:08, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hm, I'm not sure that it should be tagging pages in userspace for deletion, or perhaps even operating on them at all. Thoughts? –xeno (talk) 15:51, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

French commune infoboxes
[edit]We have a huge back log of French commune articles to add the infoboxes from French wikipedia. All that needs doing is copying the infobox directly from the French wikipedia equivalent. Please see Vulaines. All that needs doing for each article is cutting and pasting the infobox from French wiki into every article which must be bot compatible. So for Vulaines all it requires is pasting the infobox into it from here and pasting it into the english wiki article. COuld you programme a bot or use some form of coding to help complete the task in hours rather than months? Blofeld of SPECTRE (talk) 11:48, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
There is no corresponding article in DE:WP. --Eingangskontrolle (talk) 08:47, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Pywikipedia-l
[edit]Alex, do you read pywikipedia-l regularly? There have been several messages there addressed to you over the past month, but I haven't seen you respond to any. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 14:37, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- I've never receive any mail from py-l since july...no idea how I cannot got it.--Alex S.H. Lin 22:56, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
- Something I have to let you know... the structure in pywikibot for me, it's too complicated than trunk code.I saw your first and second time notification about API in pywikibot (other users notice me too when I login to #pywikipediabot), but when I try to use pywikibot, it traceback Error always.I tried to read the code but it's totally different, so I've to make a lot of times to test and debug. and let current trunk scripts to use pywikibot. (I always use `try and error` to learn how to works)
- I just complete to make maintenance/readtalk.py to use pywikibot, so I need more times to understand all this module.--Alex S.H. Lin 23:19, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Rosie Malek-Yonan's name in Farsi needs no hyphen!
[edit]Recently a hyphen was added in [[Rosie Malek-Yonan[['s last name when spelled in Farsi. Though her last name does have a hyphen in English, when translated into Farsi, there should be no hyphen. I've removed it a few times but it appears again. Can you please help remove it. Thanks! Request for Interview Regarding Wikipedia Bots
[edit]Greetings Alexsh-
My name is Randall Livingstone, and I am a graduate student at the University of Oregon, currently collecting data for my dissertation on Wikipedia editors who create and use bots and assisted editing tools, as well as editors involved in the initial and/or ongoing creation of bot policies on Wikipedia. As a member of the bot community and bot operator, I would very much like to interview you for the project at a time and in a method that is most convenient for you (Gchat, another IM client, Skype, email, telephone, etc.). I am completely flexible and can work with your schedule. The interview will take approximately 30-45 minutes.
My dissertation project has been approved both by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at the University of Oregon, and by the Research Committee at the Wikimedia Foundation. You can find more information on the project on my meta page.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to hearing from you to set up a time to chat. Thank you very much.

Welcome to the eighth issue of the English Wikipedia's Bots Newsletter, your source for all things bot. Maintainers disappeared to parts unknown... bots awakening from the slumber of æons... hundreds of thousands of short descriptions... these stories, and more, are brought to you by Wikipedia's most distinguished newsletter about bots. Our last issue was in August 2019, so there's quite a bit of catching up to do. Due to the vast quantity of things that have happened, the next few issues will only cover a few months at a time. This month, we'll go from September 2019 through the end of the year. I won't bore you with further introductions — instead, I'll bore you with a newsletter about bots. Overall

Welcome to the ninth issue of the English Wikipedia's Bots Newsletter, your source for all things bot. Vicious bot-on-bot edit warring... superseded tasks... policy proposals... these stories, and more, are brought to you by Wikipedia's most distinguished newsletter about bots. After a long hiatus between August 2019 and December 2021, there's quite a bit of ground to cover. Due to the vastness, I decided in December to split the coverage up into a few installments that covered six months each. Some people thought this was a good idea, since covering an entire year in a single issue would make it unmanageably large. Others thought this was stupid, since they were getting talk page messages about crap from almost three years ago. Ultimately, the question of whether each issue covers six months or a year is only relevant for a couple more of them, and then the problem will be behind us forever. Of course, you can also look on the bright side – we are making progress, and this issue will only be about crap from almost two years ago. Today we will pick up where we left off in December, and go through the first half of 2020. Overall January 2020
February 2020
March 2020
April 2020
May 2020
