Proposal: Current series

[edit]

I think the portal is too "static" right now. An idea would be having, in a very reachable area of the portal, a list of the current series, those airing in Japan, linking to their respective articles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rvalles (talkcontribs) 10:28, 1 May 2006

I'm still confused by these two templates. Are they the same or what? Just asking because I want to update my anime and manga part in Malay Wikipedia. SNN95 (talk) 14:39, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@SNN95: This request is misplaced, as in theory this page is for discussing the portal. The right place would be Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anime and manga. But I've had a look anyway, and I agree that this is confusing. It started out as one template, which was renamed from "Shonen" to "Shōnen" in 2008, leaving a redirect behind. But in 2014 someone started editing the "Shonen" page. I have undone those edits so that "Shonen" is again merely a redirect to "Shōnen". -- John of Reading (talk) 14:51, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions for Animanga Infobox

[edit]

Since times are a-changing, I wanted to make a few suggestions for improvements that could be made to the animanga infobox.

  • Character design - Character designers are becoming a more notable part of anime, at the least moreso than producers, so I think a credit slot for them on the infobox is pretty much deserved at this point.
  • List of episodes link without requiring episode count - There's a lot of argument about what can and can't go in the episode number slot when a definitive count isn't citable (eg. arguments against just putting TBD or Ongoing instead of having to update the incriments every week). I know well and good enough to not touch that argument with a barge pole, but right now the link leading to an episode list doesn't become active unless something is written in the episode count section, which can be particularly frustrating for long-running series.
  • Streaming - Since streaming has become a huge part of anime, and also since streaming outlets to not qualify under the Networks tag due to not being TV-based, I think a section for places where streaming is avaiable (eg. Crunchyroll, Funimation, Hulu, etc.) would be handy and informative. It'd be particularly useful for ONAs released exclusively for streaming sites like Netflix or NicoNico.

Those are my suggestions anyway. Wonchop (talk) 19:53, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Of the three I would support the streaming idea, I will wait for more to weigh in before I go into detail. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 23:10, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This would be better discussed over on WT:ANIME? Discussing the infobox on the portal talk page seems a little hidden. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 00:16, 9 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion is taking place to address the redirect Manganime. The discussion will occur at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2021 January 23#Manganime until a consensus is reached, and readers of this page are welcome to contribute to the discussion. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 14:02, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

VIP question/request

[edit]

Hello. I ask for an understandable reason as to why is it that not all Japanese manga series have the first volume cover as profile picture and a thoroughly and consistent plot. I ask that this reason to be posted here permanently so that everyone understands those motives. Please reply! Thanks! 190.231.171.103 (talk) 18:35, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Still waiting for a reply... 181.110.70.239 (talk) 08:36, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Some articles, like School Rumble, use a different cover because the first volume wasn't representative of the series' art. You can read a discussion about it here. The second question is just a matter of someone actually taking the time to write out a thorough plot. This takes someone who actually knows the whole plot, and someone who knows what and what not to include based on summary style so the plot isn't many thousands of words long. Also, for future reference, almost no one has this talk page on their watchlist, since it's a portal. Posts on WT:ANIME would be more likely to receive replies.-- 19:34, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
