Proposed deletion of World War III (UFO)
[edit]The article World War III (UFO) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No evidence that this is "a thing." UFO (TV series) doesn't mention WW III, nor does sole reference on this page.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ubiquity (talk) 17:10, 31 March 2016 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of World War III (UFO)
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, introducing inappropriate pages, such as World War III (UFO), is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Under section G3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, the page has been nominated for deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Toddst1 (talk) 19:21, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

Nomination of World Space Commission for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article World Space Commission is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/World Space Commission until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Kleuske (talk) 11:28, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
Your level of English
[edit]Since you wrote "Putted on the ground by David Scott" in List of artificial objects on the Moon, your level of English proficiency is not "near-native", therefore I have downgraded it one level to en-3 ("You are confident in writing in a language in an encyclopedic style, but may make minor mistakes, and have trouble with some of the most peculiar features of the language. You should probably only need a monolingual dictionary to understand any non-technical article." The levels are explained at Wikipedia:Babel/Levels.) Every native English speaker above the age of six must have been told by his parents that "put" is its own past tense, and there is no such word as "putted". In fact, I'm not sure that en-2 is not more appropriate, but I'll leave you to judge that.
Also, about your edit (I am not the user who reverted it): please note the introduction to the article explicitly says "The table below does not separately list small items such as ... the commemorative, artistic, and personal objects left there by Apollo astronauts, such as ... the Fallen Astronaut statuette and memorial plaque left by the crew of Apollo 15". Also, use of the Belgian flag was inappropriate, as the Belgian government had nothing to do with it. JustinTime55 (talk) 13:29, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
- Lunar module (UFO): "...the Lunar module ... . It
havehas a maximum crew of two people..." - I have downgraded your English rating to en-2. En-3 is "confident in writing in a language in an encyclopedic style, but may make minor mistakes, and have trouble with some of the most peculiar features of the language." Basic grammar (singular vs. plural) is not a "peculiar feature" of English. (Please don't take this personally; the purpose of the userbox is to help other editors find people who can assist them with English, not to promote your ability.) Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:03, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of ICarly universe and sister series
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on ICarly universe and sister series requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.
Use of periods in photo captions
[edit]Please take a moment to review our Manual Of Style for captions: MOS:CAPFRAG: "Most captions are not complete sentences, but merely sentence fragments, which should not end with a period." Only "if any complete sentence occurs in a caption, then all sentences, and any sentence fragments, in that caption should end with a period." That is not the case here. It was possible to easily correct the typo "Mmssion" without reverting. JustinTime55 (talk) 18:11, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

I've restored this article as a redirect. The consensus in 2016 was that the commission itself wasn't notable enough for an article, but that it worked as a reference to the show. It was redirected at that time. If you believe that the notability has changed, or if there are new references that might better show that notability, then you'll want to discuss the issue before restoring the article. You can discuss this at the talk page for Space:1999 (at Talk:Space: 1999 or at Redirects for Discussion. Please don't restore the article again without first discussing the matter. Thanks. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 13:36, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
- Whether the chess game is or is not notable doesn't matter - we have to look at World Space Commission on its own merits and see if it is notable. Are there sources that discuss it? References that discuss why it is important? If you want this to be an article, you have to articulate why it is notable now. If you can show that consensus has changed, you might convince enough other editors that an article is worth a shot. But until you've had that discussion, the previous AFD controls the status of the article, and that means it remains a redirect. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 19:18, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
Please do not continue to unilaterally restore an article that was converted to a redirect following an AfD discussion. This is likely to be seen as disruptive. If you wish to raise the question of whether the article should be recreated the best place to do that is at WP:RfD or WP:AfC where you would need to note the previous AfD upfront. -Ad Orientem (talk) 02:46, 30 June 2017 (UTC) |
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Agena target vehicle a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Andy Dingley (talk) 14:00, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
- If you want to move this, then discuss it at Talk:Agena target vehicle first. I can see what you're trying to do, but WP policy has a real grump about Title Case in article titles. So you might have an uphill struggle to convince people.
- If you do get agreement, then the way to do this is as a proper page move. If you can't (technical restrictions), and if there's support for doing it, then you can request a move by an admin at WP:RM/TR. Andy Dingley (talk) 14:03, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
Your contributed article, Horizontal-wheeled flying car
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Horizontal-wheeled flying car. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Flying car (aircraft). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Flying car (aircraft). If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Power~enwiki (talk) 20:26, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Ares program (The Martian) should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ares program (The Martian) .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
Thanks,

This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. [edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Hyperspace (science fiction), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Force field (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:14, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
Hello, your edit here created a link to the disambiguation page 'Solo'. Solo of course can have many meanings not all of them to do with Star Wars. This error had already been corrected once, having come up via the Dab solver. It has now been corrected again. There is already a page for Solo: A Star Wars Story and it seems that is what you were wanting to link to. Furthermore, your edit was unexplained as you did not leave an edit summary. Cheers. Your recent editing history at An Unearthly Child shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. [edit] You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on History of the Daleks. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. Title grammar - Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.
[edit]Hiya, Aledownload. A reasonable period of time has passed for people to express there opinions about the title form for the article Daleks – Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D.. You also added unsourced content to List of Google Easter eggs. I searched for, found and added an appropriate (enough for now) reference, but considering how simple it was for me to do it, I wonder why you didn't? Please carefully read the policies and guidelines regarding citations/references, notability and verifiability before continuing to add content to this encyclopedia; we don't need more unverified content; we need less! Don't get me wrong; I'm glad you're keen to improve the coverage, but if the content may be spurious, it's just noise. Quality above quantity please. Thanks. Fred Gandt · talk · contribs

Don't add your own personal analysis
[edit]Please refrain from adding your own personal opinions and analysis to articles, as you recently did on List of Space: 1999 vehicles. This is not what Wikipedia is for. Request reason:
That's NOT original research, that's an attempt to explain what happens at the end. It has also been accepted on Wikia, and it is also to introduce the character, which is far more featured in the film that what that plot says.
Decline reason:
Whether or not it has been accepted at Wikia is entirely irrelevant. If it is not original research, you will have no problem finding a citation meeting the criteria outlined in WP:RS to back up your statements. Please do so before editing further. Yamla (talk) 14:07, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. - You have been warned multiple times about not adding your own interpretations and analysis and original research, you've been blocked twice recently, and then you do this edit. It's becoming clear that you're operating under I didn't hear that and your edits are verging towards deliberate disruption at this point. The amount of effort being made by other users to correct your edits is increasing and at this point I think we know how this will end up. If you don't correct your editing pattern you will end up being blocked again, and since the disruption seems to be becoming deliberate, you will likely end up with an indefinite block soon. I urge you to pay attention to what is being said, the edits that are being reverted and correct your editing pattern. Canterbury Tail talk 19:45, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
- Pardon, how could that edit be distuptive? It is just meant to point out a recognized Easter egg without openly defining it as such, but as a standard plpt element. I'd just call this "Inclusionism".
Aledownload (talk) 08:00, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
As you clearly have no intention of citing your additions despite repeatedly having this requirement pointed out to you, I have now blocked you indefinitely. Aledownload (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I would like to be unblocked as I have understood that every edit must have a cited source (even if it already is on this Wiki) and must not be based on original research. My edit on Monsters, Inc. was inappropriate as it was unsourced and a trivia elememt of original research, which should be reported in another section or article, focusing on Easter eggs, with a proper reference pointing to a source. Thank you and pardon me for all this enormous affair. Aledownload (talk) 13:01, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Normally this would be an acceptable unblock request, but you've been getting warnings about original research since 2016, and you haven't even acknowledged them. It shouldn't take a block to make you abide by Wikipedia's most fundamental policies. What's different this time? Yunshui 雲水 09:48, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Note that you did not explain why the above edit was inappropriate, nor did you show how you'd make an edit like that in the future. Your request as-is may be sufficient to convince an admin to lift the block, but it's not sufficient to convince me. --Yamla (talk) 13:03, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- I do understand I've made many errors, but being blocked forever is an oversized penalty. I have understood that I had to cite sources to avoid my edits from being classified as original research, but I still think that, having made many useful edits, I shouldn't be kept from editing.
Aledownload (talk) 14:50, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
- Just an administrative note. People aren't likely to be called back to your talk page unless you log another unblock request. That will notify administrators that someone should come and look at your page. Otherwise people won't necessarily come and take a look at random. So I'd open another unblock request in order to get people's attention. Canterbury Tail talk 19:48, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
unblock discussion
[edit]I'm sorry, but this is the third block in a very short amount of time and I'm dubious that there will be no recurrence.-- Deepfriedokra 13:46, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- I am dubious myself. This has been a pattern for years, people have been reverting Aledownload's edits for years for inserting analysis and original research and it's quite clear they don't get it and haven't been listening. They also don't participate in any discussions around their edits. It's up to another admin, but I'm not convinced and I feel this was inevitable, it's just taken longer than it should have to reach this point. Canterbury Tail talk 14:22, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- With all the respect, I have also done some useful edits, and, yes, there have been many revertions, but I guess that's normal and I've never done it for vandalism. They were always good-faith.

"yes, there have been many revertions, but I guess that's normal" No. No, that's not normal. What on earth makes you think that?!? If your edits were all made in good faith, you are essentially saying you lack sufficient competence to abide by Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, even when they are pointed out to you. That's deeply problematic. --Yamla (talk) 23:56, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

- @Canterbury Tail:; @Yamla:
Hello, I just wanted to know, is there any chance that this block will ever end?
Aledownload (talk) 13:05, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
- Any admin is free to lift the block if you convince them you understand why your edits were inappropriate and convince them you'll never again make an unsourced addition and convince them you will cease engaging in original research. I asked you to "explain why this edit (for example) was inappropriate and show how you'd make an edit like that in the future". So far, you have not done so. You've given some hand-wavy explanation, but haven't for example shown what reliable source you could use to cite that content. You've also stated that it is normal to have many of your edits reverted, even though that's blatantly incorrect. I don't believe it's appropriate to lift your block at this time, but if you address the issues raised by me and by others, you can be unblocked at any time. --Yamla (talk) 13:10, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Yamla:
Then I should, other than what I've already said, just cite a source for that edit?
Aledownload (talk) 14:01, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
- You'd need to do that, along with addressing the other concerns I and others have raised. --Yamla (talk) 14:25, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Yamla:
Well, the fact that there is a resemblance with A Bug's Life is already stated in List of Pixar film references, that could be the source.
- No. No no no. Please go back and read WP:RS and WP:CITE. Using List of Pixar film references as a citation for this information is deeply inappropriate and shows you haven't grasped the problem yet. --Yamla (talk) 15:32, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Yamla:
Beg you padon, I haven't been specific, I meant the reference that is in that article (currently number 22). Sorry for my imprecision.

Block evasion
[edit]Aledownload is currently evading his block by editing as an IP on the article for the TV series Man in the High Castle. He's been reverted twice as an IP now, after a long string of similar edits before his block, and seems to have no idea that his edits are WP:OR, much less the policy that surrounds such edits. If he persists, the article will have to have protection, which is always unfair to productive IP editors. ----Dr.Margi ✉ 20:48, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- You do know that has pretty much guaranteed that you will not get unblocked, and may well end up with a community ban from Wikipedia? Canterbury Tail talk 21:49, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- For the record, it is unclear to me that the IP user making those edits is indeed Aledownload. It's certainly possible, I just want to express I have some doubt on this point. I won't explain exactly why, though if an admin wants to know, send me an email. --Yamla (talk) 22:00, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

- @NinjaRobotPirate:, @Yamla:, to make an example of sourced editing, I'd write in List of Space: 1999 vehicles#Swift that Swifts do appear, helping to build the Space Dock in Space: 1999: Aftershock, issue #1, citing that very comic as source. --Aledownload (talk) 11:18, 13 October 2019 (UTC).
- Wow. No. That's totally inappropriate and shows you don't understand our policies at all. Wow. On this basis, I strongly oppose unblocking you at this time. --Yamla (talk) 11:28, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
